Mail quit unexpectedly on every exit

Question

Mail quits on every exit. Can anyone help?

So... after trying to close mail and getting the "mail unexpectedly quit" message about 500 times in a row, I ran accross a tip somewhere that said
"Try opening the mail app by holding down the shift key when you click on the icon in the dock."
I did.
Mail now works perfectly. I can't post the rest of the crash report, Linc, because it isn't crashing anymore.
Go figure.
