Mail "Reply All" and Bcc recipients

If I reply to an email and use "Reply All", will the Bcc recipients from the original author of the email be included in my reply?
I'm concerned that some people who I am not aware of may unintentionally receive my reply.

I am a new AppleMail user with a directory that along with individual email addresses, also has a 30 basketball players list in one group.
I tried to send out a blast to everyone asking if they are playing tomorrow? Everyone replies TO ALL with an "in" if they are playing, or "out" if they can not. That way everyone counts the amount of 'in's to see if we are playing or not.
They all got the email fine, but responded to me via email that there was no "reply to all" on my email blast.
That is a big problem.
I sent it from my directory, but it is like the system thinks that rather than having sent it to a group of thirty guys, it sent it to thirty persons individually. Perhaps it would not allow a 'reply to all' becuse of that.
I then tried something different.
As an experiment, I created a four person email group, dragged the group list icon to the address box for sending out emails, it accepted it, and I hit send.
It went.
My email was one of the four.
I got it, and it showed a 'reply to all' (which worked as I replied to all and I got the reply) but the other three did not get it.
So that clearly is not the answer.
By the way, I have a MacBook Pro using Mac OSX verson 10.5.8 with a 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processing chip.
Memory 4gb 1067 MHz DDR3 if any of that means anything to you all.
Help!!!!

Swap "Reply All" To/CC recipients in Mail? "Followup" button?

Many many times when I need to follow up on a multi-recipient email message, I find myself choosing "Reply All" and then manually swapping the contents of the To and CC recipient fields. The problem is that if I "Reply All" to something that I previously sent, the new message will have me listed in the To field, and everyone else in the CC field. While I could just send the messages like that, some people don't read carefully if they see they were only CC'd on a message. In many circumstances I want people to know that the follow-up was directed to them. I want the mail to be To them (again) and CC'd to me. To achieve that I now have to "Reply All", then "Select All" in each recipient field, and either drag to the other field w/ the mouse, or do a Copy/Paste, or some combination. I find myself doing that a lot.
My Mail app fantasy (feature request) would be a "Followup" button that acts like "Reply All" except that it keeps the recipient fields the same as they were in the original mail.
Short of this fantasy being realized, it would at least be nice to be able to hit "Reply All" and then select "Swap To/CC Recipients" (or some such) from an Applescript menu. I have tried (for years...) to write such a script, but there are some apparent bugs in Mail's Applescript interface that make it impossible to grab/set recipients in a "Reply All" message. OS release after OS release, this has not been fixed, and I cannot find an example of anyone doing it.
Does anyone know of a solution or work-around? Can anyone demonstrate an Applescript that would swap the To/CC recipient contents in a "Reply All" message? Can't do it (that I can see) in Automator. Perhaps some keyboard macro software (e.g., QuicKeys X).

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that when you “Reply All” to a message the additional recipients are moved to the "CC:" field. This is expected behavior in iOS as well as OS X Mail. Is there a reason you would rather have the recipients in the “To:” field as opposed to the “CC:” field?
If you want to manually move the recipient address from the "CC:" field to the "To:" field, you can absolutely do so. Just keep in mind that the end result is the same:

Change a recipient from Cc to Bcc. After you enter recipients, you can drag them from one field to another or change their order.
(This applies to the “To:” field as well)

Consider using UTL_MAIL package:

Switch reply all and reply?

anyway to make cmd-R "reply all" and cmd-shift-R "reply"? i am a eudora user for 10 years and we just switched to mac mail and i keep replying instead of reply all and before i force myself to break this habit, is there any way to change it? there doesn't seem to be any way to edit this in mac mail (there are so shocking few preferences for mac mail). is there third party software that will let me do it?

You might want to try going into System Preferences/Keyboard/Keyboard Shortcuts.
Add Mail to the list, and change the keyboard shortcuts for them. You might have to make one something different first, so that you don't get a conflict, and then change the other one, and then go back and fix the first one to what you want it to be.

Default Reply-To and Bcc in Mail (Moved)

This is a repost of a question I mistakenly posted on the Leopard thread.
I just finished transferring all my archived mail from several years from Netscape Mail 7.2 to OS X Mail 2.1. There are 2 features which I used in Netscape Mail that I am unable to duplicate in OS X Mail:
1. bcc a specific address other than myself
2. provide a reply-to address different than the ISP addressed used to send the mail
On the 10.5 thread, Pascal Bouvier provided an excellent suggestion, referencing the following site which had 2 potential solutions to this problem:

The first suggestion involves an applescript created by Mail Team Developer Cricket which allows specification of a Bcc other than "myself" and a Reply-To address to every email by default. However, the link to this applescript - http://homepage.mac.com/cricket/Menu19.html - results in an error. Apparently, the page has been removed.
The second suggestion involves a post on macosxhints - http://www.macosxhints.com/comment.php?mode=view&cid=11055 - using Terminal commands to achieve the same objective. I carefully used the following Terminal command to specify the desired defaults addresses:
defaults write com.apple.mail UserHeaders '{"Reply-To" = "mydefaultreplytoaddress"; "Bcc" = "mydefaultbccaddress"; }'
and verified that they had been successfully entered using:
defaults read com.apple.mail UserHeaders
However, using these Terminal commands has had no effect on my outgoing mail Bcc and Reply-To addresses, even after restarting Mail, restarting OS X, etc.
Does anyone know where the Cricket script can now be found?
Alternatively, any suggestions as to why the Terminal commands are not working?

Hi, Robert.
One possible solution is stationery. When you save custom stationery, the visible headers and anything entered into them are saved with that stationery.
e.g. Set up a new email with the Bcc: and Reply-To: fields visible and enter the appropriate addresses into those fields, then select Save as Stationery from the File menu.
To send an email using this stationery, in the New Message window you need to click Show Stationery and then click on your custom stationery. You can drag your custom stationery into the Favorites category if you like.
Not a perfect solution, but quicker than entering Bcc: and Reply-To: addresses each time, and certainly more flexible than the sledgehammer UserHeaders approach.

Mail: reply all

I'm sure about this at all, but in Mail Prefs.>Composing, isn't there a field for
automatically CC myself. or you can change that to BCC? I'm not really sure
what that does exactly. That said, In some Mail that I get, there would be a
lot of people, perhaps a forwarded message, and if I select Reply All, the
sender ,to me is on top, but the CC field is completely full with all the others.
So, if I want other friends to get this Mail, I use the Forward option,Then theres

OSX Mail : reply all - my email address is also in to/cc field

When i receive an email, and i hit Reply All, my email address is also in the TO or CC field. There is nowhere an option to disable this behavior.
I got this situation :
TO : email addresses of friends and my email address
FROM : my email address
How can i solve this ?

My Apple Mail app was doing the same thing. In my case I found a solution. It turns out that the email address that my coworkers were sending to was a duplicate email account with an alias. I added the alias to my current account settings by separating them with a comma. This allowed me to use only one account and kept my email address from showing up in the CC field when I hit "Reply All".
Example 1:
[email protected], [email protected]
Example 2:
[email protected], [email protected]

MAIL reply all to large message- "Cannot send message" how to get this to go away

I replied all to a large message and got the notification "cannot send message..." I usually press cancel or try again, but since the message was so large, I don't have access to either buttons. It won't allow me to scroll down and maximizing the message does not help. I have tried force quit and shutting down my computer, but everytime I reopen mail, the message pops up. PLEASE HELP!!!!

This started on 3/11 and is making me crazy When I TRY to reply or reply-all to an email.. the icon will toggle back n forth between "reply or replay-all" bu twon't let me reply, UNLESS I have to save it as a draft, then open up the draft and then I can "send" It's annoying the crap out of me. I tried going to Mail menu, then to "message" then reply, etc and it still won't work unless I save as a draft, etc

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reset Launch Services...

Apple Mail - "Reply All" bug!?

I have a number of "rules" (being old school I prefer to call them filters) that place any new mail into a designated folder (ie. mail from @apple.com move message to mailbox "Apple").
It used to be that when I did a "reply all" from ANY email, my email address would not be included. Now if I do a "reply all" from my "inbox" no problem but if I do it from a filtered mailbox folder it will add my email address. SO I have to now go threw the 4 or 5 or more email address that may be there and remove my email address. That alone is somewhat anoying but it really becomes anoying in that I am (as most are) a creature of habbit and I always use the keyboard cmd-shift-r.
I have made sure that "Automaticlly Cc myself" is turned off and I have checked to make sure that it is the same on a generic machine... anyone have any ideas how I can turn this "feature" off?! In other words NEVER Cc myself.

I've been testing the behaviour of the Mail app when selecting 'Reply all' to a message that has a 'Reply-To' address specified. e.g.
Original message:
From: [email protected]
To: [email protected]
Cc: [email protected]
Reply-To: [email protected]
On selecting 'Reply All' I get:
From: [email protected]
To: [email protected]
I would expect a Cc field with '[email protected]' included, but there is none. (My expectation is satisfied if I use Gmail rather than the Mail app.)
Any thoughts?

This is still a problem in 10.10.1. How can I not find more information about this or more people with this issue? It's driving me insane. It's such a stupid feature to have mess up. How hard can it be to point to the message that you forwarded/replied. It knows you did it or the arrow wouldn't show up to be clickable.

IBots - "cc" and "bcc" recipients configuration

Hi,
I need to change the "cc" and "bcc" recepients configuration from an existing application. My understanding is that the setting from delivers applies only to "to" reciepients and I don't see any option for "cc" and "bcc".
I haven't seen neither any option like this in the administration tool.
Do you know how to change these setting?

How to send mails to "CC" and "BCC" using receiver mail adapter dynamically

We have an option to send mails to u201CTou201D dynamically, but are there any option to send mails u201CCCu201D and u201CBCCu201D dynamically.

As mentioned by Lucas, you can use the UDF. Inn addition to that, you need to define the Variable Headers under Variable transport binding after enabling the Adapter Specific Message Attributes.
For the Enabling ASMA, follow the below steps and check for the variable attributes.
Select the Advanced tab page.
   To save adapter-specific attributes in the message header of the XI message, select Use Adapter-Specific Message Attributes and Variable Transport Binding.
The following attributes in the message header are then available for processing:
○       User: (technical name: TServerLocation)
○       Authentication key: (technical name: TAuthKey)
The following mail header fields are available for processing:
○       From: (technical name: THeaderFROM)
○       To: (technical name: THeaderTO)
○       Cc: (technical name: THeaderCC)
○       Bcc: (technical name: THeaderBCC)
○       Subject: (technical name: THeaderSUBJECT)
○       Reference to the mail that is to be replied to: (technical name: THeaderIN-REPLY-TO)
○       Reply to: (technical name: THeaderREPLY-TO)
○       Mail client program: (technical name: THeaderX-MAILER)
○       Send confirmation of receipt: (technical name: THeaderDISPOSITION-NOTIFICATION-TO)
○       Priority: (technical name: THeaderPRIORITY)
○       Importance of message: (technical name: THeaderIMPORTANCE)
   To transfer further header fields, set the relevant indicator for Variable Header. The technical names for the fields are XHeaderName1, XHeaderName2, and XHeaderName3.
The parameters are included in the mail header under the names specified here.
The attribute namespace for the adapter is http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail.
