Mail rules on Mac OS X 10.6 Server

Hi,
can some body help me.
I wold like to create some server mail rules, that should work for all people that have an mail account on server, but i can only create for each member separatly.
I would like to create new folder for junk mail and move there all emails that are marked as junk mail from server.
I'm using an imap mail acounts on my mac os x 10.6.2 server.

You may have more luck with back-end matters if you ask in the Mac OS X Server area.
I presume you've read the information starting on page 36 of the Mail Services Administration guide in the Mac OS X 10.6 Server documentation, and the notes in the appendix in that guide, yes?
Regards.

  • Copy Mail Rules from Mac Pro to Macbook Air in Mavericks 10.9

    Hi All-
I have a Mac Pro running Mavericks 10.9 and a Macbook Air also running 10.9. I have set up a very detailed set of rules for organizing my incoming email on my Mac Pro that I would also like to use on my Macbook Air.
    Details:
    Mac Pro - Mavericks 10.9
    Macbook Air - Mavericks 10.9
    Application - Apple Mail
Mail setting use IMAP on both machines
iCloud used to sync everything else on both machines
Is there a way to copy the mail rules I have set up on my Mac Pro to my Macbook Air?
    Thanks in advance!

    William-
I checked iCloud "Documents & Data" / Options and I see Preview and iMovie in there but nothing about Mail.
Do step by step instructions exist anywhere? Seems like a handy feature in Mavericks but I can't find a peep about it.
    Thanks!

  • Mail Rules on Mac and using iPhone mail

    Hi guys/girls,
Hopefully someone here can help me better than the geniuses in the Appel Store...
When my MacBook is off/asleep and I read my mail on my iPhone (that come into the inbox), Mail on my Mac does not apply my rules (when turning it back on) to the messages I've already read (on the iPhone).
To get all Mail ruled all the time I'd have to keep my Mac turned on 24/7 and I have no interest in doing so.
I know I can highlight the messages and reapply rules, but I would like to get around this.
BTW, not sure this is in the right thread but couldn't fine one for Mail.
    Any suggestions..?
    Thank you

  • How to set up Mail on my Mac to my business exchange server

My company has recently moved to Microsoft exchange. I run a mac running OSX. I have entourage but would prefer to use the native Mail client. Does anyone have suggestion as to how to set this up? Thx.

    Hi,
I have just noticed that your original Posts lists OS 10.8
    and not OS X 10.8.2
Your phraseology in the last post made me look again.
Does you iMessage Account pane look like this ?
At OS X 10.8.2 Update the Messages App is updated to version 7.0.1
This changes the pic above  (the Sign Out and Detail Buttons are no on the "Front" part)
The Send From Drop down has been added at the bottom.  (You may only get this with Two active "Receive" names/iPhone Numbers)
It used to look like this

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that use CMAK to configure split tunneling on VPN clients, traffic to specified devices can be routed via their own default gateway.
If the manually added route entries all have default metric and interface, clients will select one by the default routing rule, can’t select one of them according to clients’ own conditions. So, I am afraid that CMAK can’t implement the function which you need.
A blog described about How to configure split tunneling on VPN clients using CMAK, for your reference:

  • Mac mail rules do not display properly

I use Mac Mail rules to manage my mail, but I am having trouble using them because, many time the "Perform the following actions:" display gets so scrunched together that I cannot see what I've already entered or, if I'm editing a rule, what needs to be changed (see image capture, below).  This does not happen with every rule but it happens on many of them.  It occasionally (but less often) happens with the conditions entries too.
I've had this problem for some time, but it's gotten much worse since I upgraded to Yosemite.
Another problem I'm having with the mail rules is that sometimes the "Stop evaluating rules" option is grayed out and I can't enter it as an action.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hi wret audio,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The article below may be able to help you with this.  The best place to start filtering spam is at your email provider's website, before it even reaches your computer.

  • Cannot turn off auto response in Mac Mail rules.

I set up a vacation auto response as a rule on Mac Mail. Now the auto response is still running but does not appear under the rules in my Mail preferences. How do I turn it off? I did not set it up under my server.

    Hey Barbara Rohrer,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It might be helpful to delete and re-add your account from the Preferences menu. Please note, that if the account is setup as POP, this may remove the email messages from your computer.

  • Mac Mail rules not working

Rules in Mac Mail are working terribly randomly - create a rule to color messages from domain = x, didn't work; then tried a rule to color messages to = one of my 3 email addresses ... that worked on about 80% of the messages to that email address (***? no discernable pattern!) after exiting and re-launching mail ... Finally realizing this thing just doesn't work I deleted all the rules ... several exits/re-launches I now still have about 80% of my messages to one email address I use colored, with no discernable pattern. There are no rules now.
Using OS X 10.7.4 on a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac Book Pro w/ 4 GB Ram, Mail 5.2. Have 3 email addresses, 1 Mobileme using IMAP and 2 Gmail addresses using IMAP.
    Thanks.

If you have no rules, then applying them won't change a thing. Once a messages is colored, you would have to create a rule to change the color again.
However, sometimes moving the message back to the inbox will change the color back, expecially with imap since it really has to download it back to the inbox.
If the rules are corrupted, then maybe try this:
First, quit Mail. Have a current backup in case of trouble.
Select Go>, then Go to Folder in the Finder menu. Paste this to get to this folder in the Home Library:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/
Move the MessageRules.plist files to the trash.
If you want to rebuild the message database at the same time, move the Envelope Index files to the trash. (Do not empty as they can be put back if problems arise).
Open Mail. If you chose to rebuild the database, then hit continue in the Message. This will rebuild your message index and could take a while, so be patient.
Try to create a rule and see if it works now.

  • How to copy my mail-rules to my other MAC

    HI,
I have a MAcAir and Macbook Pro. On my MacAir I created a bunch of rules to keep spam out of my mailbox (not an iCloud mail) and would like to copy these rules to my other MAC.
Can anyone tell me how to do this without re-typing everything?
Thanks in advance and a happy new year!,
    Frans

It looks like Mail rules are kept in this file
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/SyncedRules.plist
Here's a hypothesis: You could try making a copy of this file from the first mac and inserting it in the same location on the other mac. You will need to restart Mail on the second mac after doing so.
Be sure you don't delete the file that's already there in the second mac - just move it out to your desktop as I'm not sure that this will work. There may well be machine or address specific data in the file, but give it a try and let us know if it works out.
If it doesn't, then just delete the file you copied over from the second mac and put back the one you moved to your desktop.

  • Add Rule in Mac Mail Not Working

I tried to add a rule in Mac Mail, so that when a particular sender send me a mail, I wanted to forward to another person. I recalled I did setup some rule but thatwas long time ago. Now I click Add Rule, the system remains the same, no popup whatsoever.

    Mac OS X 10.9.4
    Mail 7.3

    The attached image is incorrect
I found the Add Rule under Mail > Preferences. Thanks.

  • Apple Mail Rules dont apply when mail is READ on other devices!

    Hi,
I use IMAP settings on Apple Mail (v4.5) and also check my emails on the iPhone (iPhone also set up with IMAP). However if i have read an email on the iPhone then when i switch my computer on the incoming Apple Mail Rule that applies to that sender does not seem to work. It keeps the mail within my Inbox and does not transfer the mail/message to the desired folder.
However, if the same sender sends me an email which i do not read on the iPhone and then switch my Apple Mail ON, then the mail is automatically transferred to the desired folder.
It looks like the problem is only with READ mail and not UNREAD mail.
Is there a fix for this? There seems to be a lot of people having the same issue and was wondering if there is any work around on this?
Would really appreciate any help from anyone on this.
    Regards,
    Jay
PS: I recently moved from Outlook 2011 on MAC to Apple Mail as i heard is a far superior mail application and works smoothly. So far everything about Apple Mail has been correct, it is a fantastic app, however this Rule problem is pretty basic and surprised that Apple still has not fixed this.

    Hi Glenn,
Many thanks for this. Unfortunately i dont have this facility on the server as we are using a simple opensource mail delivery and storage service, so the rules would have to be set up on the computer.
I was using Outlook 2011 and prior that was using Entourage 2008 and both worked well with the IMAP rules. Nothing was ommitted and everything READ or UNREAD was imported and the rules applied. It's only in Apple Mail that these rules dont seem to work.
Is there no other work around? No Apple Mail Add-Ins? I see quite a number of people complaining about the same problem and i'm surprise that Apple has not found a solution for this.
Anyway, thank you soo much for your reply. Much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Jay

  • Mail rules accidentally deleted all of my emails. How to restore?

    Alright, here goes.
I tried to set up af number of rules in my Mail application (just the standard one), that would delete some "subscribtion emails" that I never read anyways. And no, it's not spam.
BUT, I accidentally forgot to set the "any" criteria to "all", which means it all of a sudden deleted all mails with my email address as recipent. How can I restore them? They do NOT appear in my "Deleted messages"!
Also, is it really true that such a simple user mistake, can cause the user to lose highly important emails? I mean... It's like one click away from utter and permanent removal of the emails. If that's the case, I am really disappointed in Apple. I know I made a mistake, but forgetting to set "any" to "all" is something I feel anyone can do on accident, since it's on "any" as default. And it just applies the rule to the whole mailbox! I had no chance to stop it, and now my mails are gone. Important ones from the government, tax-mails, receipts... all just gone.
And no... I do not have a backup of those mails. I am without a time machine harddisk, and I honestly thought that deleted mails would appear in the "deleted mails" folder on iCloud, but they do not. The rules must have deleted those two, even though I have no idea why and how that should be possible.
And yes, the emails are gone from ALL of my devices, and not just the Mac... even iCloud.com does not have any trace that they even existed.
Please help, I know I haven't been smart about it, but permanently deleting such a large amount of emails, without warning or recovery method, simply should not be possible!
Any support is highly appreciated. I am looking at a world of s*** if I can't recover some of these important emails. Thank you in advance!
And here's a smiley, so you know that I am normally a very happy guy, and so you also know that I will be immensely joyful and appreciative of your help

Yeah, I don't think you should be disappointed with Apple. It's definitely not their fault. Only yours. Sorry to be frank, but "Any" and "All" conditionals are very obvious, and I have never made this mistake. I am not sure what you would want Apple to do to prevent this -- make an alert box come up saying "You are choosing Any which means when you do this your rule will apple to Any of the conditions you set". That would just annoy us other users that already understand what All and Any mean.
My point is that you should study the manuals and very good knowledge before you attempt at anything with your mac especially creating Mail Rules that will automatically delete emails.
You don't do backups which is also very strange and you should learn how to do them, as this is very important if anything happens to your computer at a later date, as you've just experienced.

  • Disguise outgoing "From" in Mail and/or .Mac mail

Whether I'm emailing from the web or my computer, Mail won't allow me to mask my outgoing name. I want my clients to get emails from my personal account name [email protected] NOT the Mail account name: [email protected] No matter what I try, there's no covering up the mac.com. I'd even send all email with the apple logo at the bottom if I could make it come from keenbee.com.
I use Entourage and GoDaddy (web email) and hate them! The only reason I use them is because I can send using the keenbee.com name. I want to use Mail and .Mac again for email but won't since it makes the company look a bit unprofessional, unestablished and confuses clients when they get an email from [email protected]
To summarize: I won't want to use Mail if I can't change my outgoing name from mac.com to keenbee.com.
I just want to mask my my email coming from mac Mail to reflect the keenbee.com name! Sorry for the redundancy, this has been difficult to explain.
thank you for your time and help!

This will help you do what you want your email to do.
    1. Make sure in entourage you have your mobile me account set up and it is working correctly by pushing mail.
    2. set up an account for your @keenbee.com account.
    3. make the @keenbee.com account you default account for sent emails which actually doesn't help.
    4. forward all of your @keenbee.com mail to your @me.com account. you will have to go to go daddy to do this if that is where your @keenbee.com settings are.
    5. make a rule under your tools menu in Entourage that all of your sent mail go's into your mobileme sent folder.
    6. make sure when you are sending your email you will have to pick from the two accounts you want it to be sent from. After you press new for a new email you will have a drop down menu to which you can choose which account you want it to be sent from. I can't figure out how to make the email you always want it to be sent from default. When ever you have one of the mobileme folders selected it always starts the email with the mobileme account even if you have your other email address pick as default account in settings.
you can make a kinds of rules for your mail which i am sure you are aware of under the tools menu bar.
the reason you are having your @keenbee.com mail forwarded to your mobileme email account is to that it turns it from a pop email to imap email.
When you send out the email from your @keenbee.com account in Entourage it is sending it out in pop. But when you apply the rule to it it changes it to imap email. **make sure when setting up your rules you set them up with the imap setting. Also in the rules there is an outgoing tab. this is where you will setup sent mail rule that will put your sent mail into your mobileme sent folder.
This works for me. All of my email accounts are forwarded to mobileme which I receive in Entourage and i send all of my emails from Entourage out to my clients. Everything is insync.
Only problem is when you send emails from your iphone. Haven't found away yet to send them and make them show up from the email i want them to be coming from instead of the @me.com.
