Mail turning 1 JPG in to 2 JPG files

Any ideas on this one?
Sending clients 20 or 30 JPG files and when they get it they receive 2 files. One is the JPG they can open the other is a slightly smaller file with a .- extension in front of it. Attaching the whole folder......also noticed mail must be zipping it because I'm not sending a zip file but that's what shows up. Using Photoshop CS3 for the batch resize, and have check the folder for dupes before I send. I am pretty sure I have also used Photoshop Elements 2.0 and got the same results.
Also I might mention I am a photographer so I have done this a thousands times before on a PC.......new to Mac.

We have the same problem in the office too since the update to Mac OS X Yosemite and Mail 8.2. We are using Microsoft Exchange. Every mail we send from Apple Mail will have an attached .html file after every attachment. This is especially bad when there is still some text after the attachment, because this text will be moved  into the .html file too so no receiver will ever read it.
Looks like a similar problem was already existing some years ago:
Mail attaches an HTML file for each file that I attach
It seems as I could solve the problem though installing the Universal Mailer mentioned above.

  • I can't open attachments on my iPad 2.  I have downloaded the 8.0.2 software update.  I can't open jpgs, PDFs, docs. or movie files now.

Obviously, you are talking about the mail app, so force close the mail app and reset your iPad. If that fails, reset all settings.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
When you reset all settings, you will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.

  • Help - problem with save for web when jpg image is placed in file

I have a jpg image that I placed in my Illustrator 5 file to use as a backdrop and then created several vector buttons on top.  When I attempt to create an arboard around a single button and then save for web, it ignores the artboard dimensions and shows the entire jpg dimensions.  If I create the same file without the jpg backdrop image, I am able to use the artboards to save just a single button.  Any time I place a jpg image in my Illustrator file and attempt to use the artboards, the artboards are ignored and the entire area of the jpg is saved.  I am able to use the slice tool to do the saving, but I prefer to use the artboards.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the artboards to work when a jpg is placed in the file?  Thanks.

    THANK YOU!!!
It says, "Clip to artboard".  I wasn't sure what clip meant, but that was it!  Thank you.

Your description of the issue is not clear:
What format, bit depth and color was your original file "from the net"?  It sounds like it was a Color Indexed GIF, which would cause what you are describing.
In the Macintosh Finder, select said "net image" and do a Get Info on it (Command+i). When the Info box appears in the Finder, take a screen shot and upload it here by using the little camera icon in the Reply Editor in the forum's web interface.
If the image is a 256-color GIF, remember the rule:  GIGO = garbage in, garbage out.

  • Mail turns PDF attachment into jepg

I use distiller and acrobat to create PDFs from Quark documents; for the last few days, attaching a new PDF to an email in Mail has turned the PDF into a jpeg which PC users can't open. The problem has just cleared itself (without me knowingly doing anything) but it has happened before and I guess may happen again. Any idea of the cause and solution?

What I should have said is Apple should not make the Image Size adjustment an available option when a PDF file is attached to a message.
Yes, this is the answer. Using the term seemed to happen - it either happens or it doesn't but Mail will not and cannot change the file type or the file extension for an attached file without user intervention. Using the Image Size adjustment for a single page PDF file which appears inline or viewed in place within the body of the message does change the file type or file extension for the file from .pdf to .jpg since the Image Size adjustment is intended and can only be used for picture or image file attachments, not with PDF files.

How can I increase the file size limit for outgoing mail. I need to send a file that is 50MB?

You can't change it, and I suspect few email providers would allow a file that big.  Consider uploading it to a service like Dropbox, then email the link allowing the recipient to download it.

    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

I am having problems interacting with Microsoft Office programs since the last update:cannot create a pdf through the 'print' menu in exel and both Word and Exel docs sent in Mac Mail end up being received as .dat files.
Both these situations have cropped up on my MacBook Pro since the last update.
    Thanks for your help.
    Cheers
    Bob

The 'Winmail.dat' problem has been extensively covered in these forums, I would search for that (a Google search works well) and unfortunately I have not seen the pdf print problem before, but assuming the software is current and functions normally (other than the pdf print problem) I have no suggestion other than the obvious (but time consuming) re-installation of Office.

  • I have a jpeg signature for a signature in Mail account. When I attach another file to the email and se nd it to a Windows -operated recipient, my signature becomes an attachment as well and only the body of the email message is left.

I have a jpeg I have added for a profeesional look to my signature in my Mail acount. When I attach other files to the message and send the message to a Widows-user recipient, the signature is no no seen as a signature and simply becomes an attachment with the email.
What can I do to stop this happening. Thanks

File menu "Attach Files..." then Tick off "Windows-friendly Attachment".

  • Mail 6.2 won't open .eml files

    Hi
I'm running Mail.app ver 6.2 in OSX 10.8.2 with all the latest upgrades (23 Nov 2012). I'm having an issue opening .eml files/attachments in my mail.app (in OSX, not iOS).
It's my understanding that mail.app has full support for .eml files and I used to open them with no problems before the upgrade to Mountain Lion. When I click to open the files, it displays the envelope animation like if it's going to open it but the window never appears. The only option is to use preview, and that works perfectly, buf if the .eml file has attachments "inside" of it, I can't open them using preview.
    There is no error log.
    What might be the problem?
I've done permitions repair a couple of times.
The only addons I have installed on mail.app 6.2 are attachment tammer and mailhub.

    This discussion suggests a solution.

  • Turn a script into an .exe file?

    Hi,
How can I turn a JavaScript into an .exe file (on Windows)? The
advantage is that if the script uses only ScriptUI features, it will
never need to launch InDesign. Additionally, it is possible to package
it that way with a special icon that appears if it is placed on the
desktop, and when it runs the icon appears in the taskbar.
An example of what I'd look to achieve is the hyphenchecker script,
written by the late Teus de Jong. There is one Windows-only version
available on his website (which is still being maintained, probably by
his son) which is an .exe file -- precisely what I'm trying to do.
    Thanks,
    Ariel

straight form javascript i don't think there is a way.
however you can use, i think, Visual Basic (not vbScript!!) as a wrapper for js (using doScript)?

  • How do I save a photoshop jpg as a "PictureViewer" jpg document?

How do I save a photoshop jpg image as a universal "PictureViewer" jpg document?

Just did some tests. And I am starting to understand a few things.
I was using Photoshop 6 on my old apple quad. Yes, I know, 12 year old stuff. I have just upgraded to Adobe CC application on my new mac.
When saving an image from photo shop as a jpg, I did not see, and still do not see, the picture viewer icon I am used to seeing on a jpg image from my old mac. Photoshop 6 saved jpgs only as photoshop jpgs.
I just ran some tests. Saved some logos and pictures as jpg’s from the new CC Photoshop. When I import them into my old mac, I see the Picture Viewer Icon. And when I click on any of these, it opens in Picture Viewer. Tells me you are correct. Photoshop is saving the jpg images as the universal Picture Viewer JPGs.
I guess I was expecting to see a "save as Picture Viewer” option from the Photoshop "save as" menu. And when I did not see the picture viewer icon for the new saved jpg image, I assumed it was still saving this as a photoshop jpg.
Thanks for prompting me to do some homework and test a few things out.
I thought that the new photoshop should be able to save jpgs in the picture viewer realm, but had to run a few tests to see the actual result on an older computer for this to sink in and recognize the result.
Thanks for your time and patience Silkrooster.

  • Mail App / How do I find a file in wich a mail has been moved ?

    Hi everybody !
Like a lot of apple users, I have created many mailboxes "on my mac" on the left menu... this allows me to move every mail in a dedicated box for my work.. Every project has its own mailbox, and its sub-mailboxes, in order to class each mail in a logical way.
I have 100 000 mails archived, in about 5 000 different files. When I need to find an email about an old project, I write a few keywords in the search bar, and I find it... In the last OS X versions, by showing the code of the mail, I could make appear the file in which the mail had been moved. By right-clicking on it, the file appeared on the left menu of the application, and I could then access to all the emails stored in the same file.
Now, in Yosemite, it is not possible to right click on a file in order to locate it !! That's a very big problem for me... because I need to access to the fill of the discussion, and be able to read all the informations stored in this file..
Could anybody help me ? Is there a way to find this mysterious file ?
Mr Apple, why did you change this very useful function ???
    Many thanks for your help...

    Open a Finder Window.
In the Finder Window, search for the file you want, select "file name" or "content", make sure "This Mac" is selected.
Click the Time Machine icon, in the dock, it will open on "Today".
Click on the back arrow to go back in time.
If the file was backed up, TM will go back and find it.

attempted to mail an email with a large attachment file.  One of the addresses was bad.  When my Outlook is running, the Mac tries to send it and shows the progress.  However, when I look in my Outbox the files are not there.  It does show up in the Outbox progress section but I can not delete it when it is there.
    Where do these files reside?
    Is there a hidden Outbox??

If you think getting your web pages to appear OK in all the major browsers is tricky then dealing with email clients is way worse. There are so many of them.
If you want to bulk email yourself, there are apps for it and their templates will work in most cases...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Website-Email-Marketing/EBlast.html
This one will create the form, database and send out the emails...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Website-Email-Marketing/MailShoot.html
The alternative is to use a marketing service if your business can justify the cost. Their templates are tested in all the common email clients...

  • Javax.mail.MessagingException: 451 Error while writing spool file??

    Hi all friends,
Can any one plz tell me why Iam getting below error when Iam trying to send mail with attachment.Iam using Java Mail API.
javax.mail.MessagingException: 451 Error while writing spool file
Plz tell me what are the reasons behind it.
    Regards
    Bikash

The problem here is that the SMTP server was unable to write its spool file.
The error is probably on the OS side of things and has nothing to do with email except that the lack of the system resource is causing email to fail.
Have the server admin take a look at his error log to find out why the the user that smtp is running as could not write the file.
