No wonder various people have found it hard to locate the custom stationery files. In Mountain Lion they are well and truly hidden away. I have at last found them:
[user]/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Application Support/Mail/Stationery/Apple/Contents/Resources/Custom/Contents/Resources
Spotlight won't find them. 'EasyFind' and 'Find Any File' will.

You can update custom queries in GTCs in one of two ways:
1) In Advanced -> Configuration -> Manage IT Resource for your GTC -> Search for your GTC's IT Resource -> Modify the field DBReconTransport_customizedQueries
2) In Advanced -> Configuration -> Manage Generic Connector -> Search and Select -> Edit Parameters -> Modify the field Customized Query

Hi All,
I just migrated from my old G5 to a new iMac. I had a bunch of custom templates and dropzones installed in my version of DVDSP on the G5. Unfortunately they didn't transfer during the migration. I'm not quite sure where they are located on the old system and where I would move them to on the new system so that they showed up in DVDSP. Anyone know where they are located?

Hi Ben,
I do have that folder in the old system, however, everything is empty. Upon further investigation, I have similar folders in the main Library. I also have HD > Library > Application Support > DVD Studio Pro. It looks like my custom stuff (templates, dropzones) were in that folder and the Apple supplied stuff is in the HD > Library > Application Support > Final Cut Studio > DVD Studio Pro.
I found an old template installer from DVDThemepak and ran that and it put its template in that last directory. So it appeared in the Apple templates tab in DVDSP instead of the custom area.
So it looks like the DVD Studio Pro folder in Application Support contained my custom stuff and the real Apple stuff was in Final Cut Studio > DVD Studio Pro. Does that seem right?

I created a custom setting that I use for my youtube videos. I want to copy this setting so that I can back it up and use it on another computer.

The custom compressor settings are located at
/Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Application Support/Compressor
If you're going to transfer the Compressor settings between multiple systems I'd recommend creating the custom settings folder via the Compressor Settings pane, this will create a folder containing the custom settings that you've create and will allow you to easily drag and drop this folder onto other system.

I had the same experience as you did, but in my case it was a big fat pdf that Mail insisted I had to download before I could view it. As happened with you, I saw the file actually downloading, and after a time I was able to view the pdf. It's been my assumption that the pdf is still somewhere on my iPad, but I have no idea where, nor how to delete it if it is still there.

Where are customized element lists stored ?

Hi all,
After removing lots of useless DITA elements from my Elements list via the Customized List option, I find that the list is only used for the document in which I have edited it, and is not kept when I close and reopen the DITA file.
In the FM10 help file I read that the customized list applies to a document - or possibly to a set of documents in a book that were selected when opening the Customized List option. In DITA topics, there is no use for an FM book file, so this documented option is pretty useless for those types of structured files.
Does anyone know where the customized elements list is stored ? Can it be copied and pasted into other documents ? Is there an easy method to make it valid for all (new and existing) documents of the same DITA type ?

Hi Scott,
I understand what you're saying. However, I do not want to change anything to the underlying DTDs, EDDs or read-write rules. I just want to hide a number of elements in FrameMaker without changing anything else. This effectively implements one aspect of constraints (the other aspects, namely making optional elements mandatory or defining an order where this is not given by the original DTDs, are not possible without using the method you indicate.
At first I was happy with the simple notion of editing the visibility of elements in the editor. This is a feature that several XML editors have also implemented. But in FM, any change to the elements catalog is lost as soon as the file is closed, and that makes this feature really useless. Noboby is going to go through the same stupid process of selecting all those wanted elements or deselecting the unwanted ones every time a file is opened again.
Michael pointed me in the right direction to solve this problem the easy way: after defining the custom elements catalog in a DITA file and removing all elements from it, I saved the file as an FM file, renamed it to topic.template.fm and placed it in the DITA templates folder (effectively overwriting the old file - but of course I renamed the old one first). Now, whenever I open a topic type file, the custom elements catalog is read from the template. This is done for all DITA files of the topic type, not just the newly created ones.
This is exactly what I would expect as FM's default behavior, so I am happy that it works. Takes some of the geek stuff out of DITA in FM.

How to import custom stationery into choices

I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly. We've created a html stationery template and it's on Safari (for convenience I put it on my top sites) When I want to write an email using the custom stationery, I have to open it in Safari, press command I, and then it opens the stationery as mail. Is there another way to add the new template directly in the mail program choices of stationery?

On the right of your screen, click on "My Public Profile", then from that window, click on "Edit My Settings". change your profile there to 10.5.8 and save the changes.
Also, is the "mail folder" inside the library?
No, we're not talking about your Home/Library/Mail folder; we're talking about a folder inside of the Mail program (which is actually a package of files and folders). If you Control-click on the Mail icon inside /Applications (while it's not running), choose "Show Package Contents".
Then drill down to Contents > Resources and look for a folder that's named something to indicate it might hold those stationery templates. If you find that, put yours inside there and restart Mail to see if you can select it. If you can't, quit Mail and remove it.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I still haven't received my MP3 player... Creative has had the MP3 player for 73 days now and they still haven't sent it back. Since last time I wrote here I got an e-mail from Creative saying they got the MP3 player on the 5th of the November and that somehow the status wasn't updated. Well, it's been 73 days now, care to send it away? I sent them and e-mail yesterday where I wrote that they could just send me the cash for it or a new MP3 player.
If I don't receive my MP3 player in a near future I will contact "Allm?nna Reklamations N?mnden" (a Swedish "Consumerist"-like government sponsored organization that deals with people vs company legal cases).
Again, I strongly advise everyone to not buy any more Creative products. Once they break you won't get the help you need.

Hello,
You need to carru out your output configuration for this.
Use tcode, NACE where you can do this centrally.
Select V1 & click on output types above
Select output type MAIL for your requirement & use tranmission medium as simple mail.
After configuring your MP mail partner functions & use of proper output program you will be able to send mail to your party.

Where are the .joboptions stored on a Mac for InDesign CC?
I put them in the usual directory:      /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings   . . . but they are not seen by InDesign CC.
. . . Photoshop, Illustrator, Distiller and Acrobat are seeing my custom profiles and any default profiles I removed are not there for those apps.
Even older versions of all these apps and InDesign 6 and 5 see my custom profiles.
But InDesign CC only shows the ones shown in the screen shot below: (High Quality, the PDF/X versions[3], Press and Smallest size)
I know I can probably do a "Load" profile, but that's not the point and I need to remove the default profiles.
I'm in a multiple user environment and need to lock down the use of profiles to our companies select few.
Did a thorough search of the entire Mac and PDF/X- does not even show up.   Any suggestions?     Anyone?    I'm scratchin' my head at this point.

@Maurizio – the standard settings, the joboption files with the brackets like [PDF/X-1a:2001] are stored inside the inDesign app for InDesign CC 9.2.1.
The path for these would be:
/Applications/Adobe InDesign CC.app/Contents/MacOS/Resources/Adobe PDF/settings/mul
or with a Japanese version of InDesign:
/Applications/Adobe InDesign CC.app/Contents/MacOS/Resources/Adobe PDF/settings/japan
If you do a right-click on the InDesign app you can show them with "Show Package Contents" options.
All other PDF joboptions that you are creating are relative to your current User Library. They are stored in:
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings
Where the tilde sign at the beginning indicates the home of the currently used user.
You can access ~/Library, if you press the alt key when accessing the "Go To" menu in the Finder. Otherwise it's invisible.

i'm referring to to transparent pixel lock, image pixel lock and position lock. file formats pdf mentions the transparency protected flag at bit 0 in the layer records section - which sounds suspiciously similar, but none of the other locks are to be found.

When you assign a custom name for a location, that name is stored in the "Places" database in the Aperture library, and the image versions will reference this place in the Places database. The image version will be tagged with GPS EXIF tags for longitude and latitude, when you export the image, but the location name will not be included. Aperture does not add it to the IPTC tags. If you want to export the names of the places, you have to set the IPTC metadatatags "image location", "image city", "image country" etc. on your own, for example using batch change.

i have an late '09 27" iMac upgraded to yosemite (I've accepted all upgrades from apple along the way). i have my alternating backgrounds & screensaver pointed at my iPhoto album. so why does a photo of half dome pop up occasionally? where is the photo stored? i have been to yosemite many times and do love the scenery there, but i'd like to be in charge of my screensaver. i've tried looking for the photo by name/name fragment, but of course, if apple doesn't want us to find it, we won't find it. i don't like apple preventing me from setting up background/screensaver to my liking. apple makes the computer for the rest of us.

Actually no. What I have always done was this: I have a collection of custom desktop pictures I made a custom folder for the pictures & placed them inside the Machintosh>Library>Desktop Pictures folder.
Then I went into System Preferences>Desktop & Screensaver>Desktop, clicked on the plus sign to add my custom picture folder.
Restarted my comp.
Never had any issues by doing the above. I have always done it this way since the Tiger OS.

Custom Stationery: Picture oddly scaled

Hi, I managed to create a custom mail stationery which including 4 picture placeholders. I copy pasted the code from 2 different default stationeries, and tried to change the size of 1 picture drop zone (placeholder or whatever its name is). For this, I edited the content.hml. Description.plist and the various picture files in the bundle.
The result is: while writing a new message using the custom stationery, the mail looks great. Once its send, one picture gets re-sized very oddly -> The resolution, zoom and area of the picture shown in the mail is different from what I set it when editing the message.
Do you know a good step by step introduction on how to change the size of a picture placeholder, how to deal with alpha channels (what are they anyway) ....

What I understand is that the NI 9237 uses an internal voltage , 2.5, 3.3, 5 and 10V since my load cell need 5-12V according to my certificate I can use 10V from the NI 9237 and use then use the Vex value as 10V, or I'm I wrong? I don't know what exact voltage I must use or how I can adjust it since I haven't found any info of it. I don't have any physical manuals for my instruments at least I'm aware of, maybe in a box somewhere in my Lab.

Why can't Apple allow us to select custom location for iBooks library, just as we do it with iTunes library???
I don't want to have 80+ GB of my iBook files moved from iTunes on the separate media volume back to the user folder on the system volume.
I created a symlink in default location and keep my Ibooks library on the media volume, but it is a temporary and not convenient fix. Every time I launch iBooks it tells me that it can't access library - only after I click on Try Again button it loads the library, but not a complete one, only books purchased through iTunes, it doesn't want to show the rest of my library that is in the same location (and was in iTunes library before).

I have just upgraded from CS 6 (Dreamweaver) and now when I click on a picture on a web page in Dreamweaver it doesn't go to the folder where the photo is stored anymore. If this continues I'll have to go back to CS 6 as I have to put in alot of photos.
