Mailing long http links...

I have a common problem that I am running into when sending http links through Mail. If I drag a long web address from Safari, into a mail message, and then send it to a recipient that has a Microsoft mail client, such as Outlook Express, the HTML link text will break, rendering the link incorrect. Clicking on it will get a page not found, as the actual link name has been broken, and overrun characters have been bumped to the next line.
Is this something I can change in my sending client, or is this a problem with Microsoft's mail software on the recipient side?

  • IPhone Mail app -- https links?

    Hi folks -
Has anyone seen a behaviour where HTTPS links from the Mail app produce a page not found in Safari?
The user in question has an iPhone 4s (soon to be updated to 6+ so I'll update here with results of that upgrade).
Typing in the root of the https address straight up in Safari does work.

Sorry it's not a page not found, it's a Safari could not open the page message.
Same issue for a 5s user.  Pasting the address directly into Safari seems to work (from a text for example) so maybe something between Mail and Safari.

  • How does thunderbird open a http-link within a browser?

I often get mails with http-links. On my previous system I could click on the link and the browser window opened showing the web page.
If I click on a link on my thunderbird nothing happens. I am sure it is possible to configure thunderbird to open http-links in the default browser on the system. However I have not found the possibility to configure thunderbird in that way.
Can anybody give me a hint on how to do it?
    Thanks.

i d'ont use it since long now but it has always been a poor trick in a lost config confile, not possible from the gui itself.
wiki/google/forum search will sure give it to you.

    Hi all
I have now for two days experienced that emails seems to be sent from my Outlook 2011 for Mac to 4 or 5 people from my contacts with suspicious links - they do not apear in my sent box - but I do get an copy sent to my own inbox ?
Does anyone know what this is and what to do ?
    Regards

Sounds like your mail account has been hacked. Change the password immediately to a long, random, all over the keyboard one. Never use an ordinary word that can be found in the dictionary. My mail pword is 15 characters long.

  • In FF 34.0.5 I use to be able to click on a link within an e-mail and the link would open in a new tab; it now opens in the same tab; how can i change it back?

I'm using FF 34.0.5 (I like it). I use to be able to right click on a link, within an e-mail, and the link would open in a new tab. Now when I click on the link it opens in the same tab replacing my e-mail.
Example - a friend sends me an e-mail containing a link to a web site he thinks I'd like. I click on the link and go to the web site and then go back to the e-mail tab and reply to him. Now, when clicking that link, my e-mail disappears and is replaced by the new site.
How can I fix this? When this happened once before I was told to change the 'value' for a specific 'preference name' through the about:config page.
Can anyone help jog my memory?
    Thanks!

Is this about clicking a link in an external program?
You can check this pref on the about:config page for external links.
    * browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external (-1)
If this pref has the default value -1 then browser.link.open_newwindow is used.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.link.open_newwindow
    *1: current tab; 2:new window; 3:new tab;
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Can you provide a little more info here? I cannot duplicate this, so it must be
reliant on specific setup. Did Novell give you a bug number to reference?

  • Service Desk: Sending e-mail with a link to a message

    Hi out there,
our SolMan is configured to send an email when a ServiceDesk message changes the
state (ie. "in process" -> "customer action").
Now i'd like to have the http link to the message (ITS) in the mail.
There is a note on SSMP 733511 with exact this subject, but it does not describe
how to bring the link in the mail.
The mail is generated throu the smartform CRM_REMINDER_MAIL_01.
Does anybody know how to modify this smartform? Or isn't that the right way?
    Thx for answers.
    Kurt

    Hi,
Copy this standard smartform, and generate it as Z. And in this smartform you can insert the link into smartform.
And change the name of the snmartform in the Action configuration to the name of Z.
    reward if helps.

  • Pages 5.5 - http links in documents not 'active'?

After upgrading to Yosemite (10.10) and Pages 5.5 all http links in my Pages documents return a 'pop up box' that allows me to 'edit' the link or 'go to page' - - I find this aggravating...   How do I make the links 'active' so when I click on the link Pages takes me directly there without the 'pop up'....
    Thanks    JJ

You don't fix it. When you get that edit link pop-up — tap the space bar and off you go to that web site.

  • How to call discoverer report with parameters over http link?

    Hi!
I'm using oracle application server 9.0.4 (incl. discoverer).
I have an oracle portal report where I want to call a discoverer report for each line over a http link. It is always the same discoverer report - with each line I want to pass parameters to my discoverer report.
How can I pass parameters to the report? Is there another way rather than using GET parameters?
    Thanks
    Markus

    Hi Markus
You need to determine whether you can in fact call a Discoverer report using a URL before linking it in Portal. You need to run the report in Viewer first and then see copy the URL from the address line of the browser. Then you open another browser and paste the URL. You may well be prompted for a username and password but hopefully the correct report with the right parameters will then execute.
Assuming this works you then paste the same URL link into Portal and you should be able to get the report to run.
    Best wishes
    Michael

  • Once completed the form, is it possible to receive the confirmation e-mail with a link addressing to a html archive?

Once completed the form, is it possible to receive the confirmation e-mail with a link addressing to a html archive?

I don't know if it is the best solution but you could filter the results to just that client's answers on the summary tab and then PDF that.

  • I can no longer open links from my email account into safari, how can I fix this?

I can no longer open links from my email account into safari, on my iphone 4.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

  • Ever since I updated to Firefox 4.0, I can no longer open links in a new tab by holding ctrl and clicking the link. Any help?

Ever since I updated to Firefox 4.0, I can no longer open links in a new tab by holding ctrl and clicking the link. The only way I can open a link in a new tab is if I right click a link and select "open in a new tab" in the dropdown menu, but ctrl + click is so much easier and faster. Any clue how to fix this?

Some other users have fingered the Ask toolbar as the cause of this problem. You can try disabling or removing it here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions
    Does that help?

  • Safari 6.0 (on Mac OS X 10.8) will not open https links

    Hi,
I would not be able to post this if I were not using Firefox.  Ever since I upgraded to Mac OS X 10.8 with Safari 6.0, I have not been able to open a single https link.  Safari help says to make sure you are on the Latest OS, the latest browser and use Disk Utility to clean up your directories.  I ran disk utility before installing, then Upgraded the OS which included Safari.
On EVERY https linke on Safari 6.0 I get "Safari cannot open this page".  At the moment, it's forcing me to use FIREFOX as my default browser as Safari can't open any secure sites whatsoever.   I have Google'd this issue and found a lot of discussion from the past, but no clear solutions, and Safari help has been anything but help.  Either this is major bug, or I am missing a setting or something, and having spent an hour googling for solutions I am resorting to posting here via Firefox since Safari for me at least is severely crippled.
    Steve

Found this solution in another thread:
Solution was to stop rapport, quit and restart Safari, turn rapport back on, then quit and restart Safari, all now working.

  • Cannot open any HTTP links in Adobe Acrobat 6.0

    Hi
We cannot open any HTTP links in Adobe Acrobat 6.0, that means if we click on HTTP link nothing happens.
Howto configure Acrobat 6.0 to open HTTP links, instead of Acrobat Update?

This happens because these are not true links. Links created with Acrobat using the link tool do not have this problem. Acrobat and Reader have a feature that tries to automatically recognize urls so they can act as links, but it fails when the link contains a space.
