Maintaining/resizing when linking to a new graphic

How do we keep the same scale size when updating or relinking images in CS 5? In the preferences we already have Preserve Image Dimensions when Linking checked. When we relink the object seems to fit to box.

If you want to preserve the SCALE, not the size of the image in the frame, UNCHECK that option. The purpose for that is to keep the image from changing size when you change the resolution without resampling.

Stop links panel resizing when link info is shown

Aside from all the other minor (yet annoying) bugs I've experienced with the new CC and the newest iOS, Yosemite, I've recently had some issues with my workspaces. I had my workspace just how I wanted it; now I know I should have saved this, but I've never had a problem before with the program remembering where I had everything. Well, it for some reason glitches out the other day and removed every single panel I had on the right hand side of my screen. Not wanting to mess with recreating the arrangement I'd had before, I figured I'd just use one of their pre-made workspaces - Printing and Proofing. It's close enough to what I need. Now I just have one question - is there any way to get the link panel to stop resizing every time I click on a link to display its info? When I select a link to check its PPI and scale and whatnot, the link location is long enough that is pushes out that window to be double its original width or more. It's extremely annoying as it then covers a lot of my canvas. I can resize the panel back to where I want it, and it sometimes remembers this width if I select that link again, but not always. Any ideas for a fix for this? Is there a simple setting that I'm just not finding?

I have the same issue and it is most annoying. Every time I do something in Illustrator, I have to reset my workspace.

Image automatically resizing when moved onto a new tab

When I'm moving a picture onto a canvas, it is automatically resized to a very small size. I wish only for the picture to move onto the canvas, then still keeping it's size. Afterwards, I wish to resize it myself using ctrl + t but the automatic small size is preventing me from making it better size, and less pixelated.
Does anyone has a solution to turn off this automatic resizing?

What resolution is the canvas and what size is the image (in pixels). Go to Image > Image Size...

Colors in other graphics turn dull when placing new graphics

When I place a new graphic on a page, the graphics in other images turn dull.
I just now placed a new graphic on a page (a grayscale tif), filled it with a color, applied a transparency effect, and immediately an adjacent graphic's colors turned dull, as if shifting from rgb to cmyk.
Is this supposed to happen? Have I missed something?

Adding transparency does, indeed, affect the entire spread. If everything is RGB, set the blend space to RGB, Edit > Transparency Blend Space > Document RGB.

When I open a "New Window" or a "link" does so, my customized "add(ed) new toolbar" disappears. FF version up to date.

I have used the reset preferences option. I had to recreate all items I previously had in the toolbars. And had to "Add a New toolbar" and add the items i had in that, also.
I also used the fix for a corrupt local.rdf file. No joy. At first I did not know why I was losing my custom toolbar. But I started paying extra attention and found out how to recreate the problem. I f a link opened a new window it opened without the custom toolbar. If I closed that window before closing the original window the custom settings where maintained.
If I opened a new window or selected a opened tab to open or duplicate in a new window the custom toolbar was gone. Again, if I closed the "new" window b4 I closed the original window all was good. But if I close the original window and the the new window the next time I open firefox the custom toolbar is gone. Righting clicking on a clear spot of a toolbar to open the "Customize Toolbar" dialog the name of my custom created toolbar is missing also.

I have never had this problem with FF before. I did not post asking for help until I could recreate the problem so that I could tell you when it happened.

I did find the problem... It was the DivX Plugin for Firefox. I just found I wasn't using it. I went to Add/Remove Programs and uninstalled it. FYI I am running Windows 7.

Slideshow image resizing when adding new images

I am creating a series of slideshows on multiple pages. I created one slide show using the "basic" slideshow and resized it to the dimensions and settings I wanted. I have many pictures all of different proportion, therefore, I selected the "fill frame proportionally" so they would all fit the dimension I set. I wanted to use this first slideshow as a template for all of the rest. I added images to this first slideshow with no problems. All of my different sized images scaled or cropped to fit within the dimension I set. The problem comes in when I do two things: 1) When I add other images of different dimensions to this same slideshow gallery, they come smaller that the intended dimensions I set previous. I check the setting and it is still on "fill frame proportionally" similar to the first batch of pictures. 2) The second issue is when copy this slideshow as a template to other pages. When I try to replace or add to the slideshow gallery, the images come in cropped or smaller rather than filling the frame. Again, the settings are still the same from my very first slideshow that worked just as i intended.
I could resize all the images to all the same dimensions using another program like photoshop, but that is another step that is very tedious and it would seem that it should be something built into Muse.
Is there a way around this?. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this just one of those glitches that happens with Muse? I appreciate any help that I can get.

Hi, I got it to work like this:
Using background colours in Photoshop so that all sizes are the same in pixels. Then manually adjusting thumbnails by double-clicking on them so that a red square appears.

Hi there Elsemiekagain,
I had to fiddle around with my slide show to get it to work. That is, it worked at first, then went funky, and I had to fiddle. So much fiddling that I can't possibly know what actually made it start to work again.
And to some degree, this is the way that I find Muse to be in general. That it requires finessing to get it to work as expected. This adds a good deal of time to every development project, though I am getting better at this with practice and experience.
Most of it is not even things that could be easily put in words as instructions, as many are nanced. But in fairness, this version of Muse is a complete code re-write this year. So we do need to cut Adobe some slack, and give the team time to iron things out.

When I open a new link or bookmark I want it to open in a new window not a slew of tabs so I can see which sites I have open.

I'm sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology. When I open a new window or a link I want it to open a whole new window so I have 500 open FireFox tabs in my taskbar if I open that many windows. I do not like having everything open in one window. Used to be I could find how to undo that but you changed everything on me and now only rocket scientists can use your application. If Chrome and Internet Explorer weren't so ridiculous, I would change. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

This didn't help me at all. I want a separate window to open each time I open a new tab or bookmark. Currently when I open a new link it just adds a tab to the window already open so from my non-technie point of view, I only have one window open and have to go up top to see what is open vs. being able to look below in my taskbar and see what I have open.

Using Firefox 4.0 Beta 4. When I open a link in a new window, the web address does not show in the location bar. Why?

When I open a web page link in "a new window" the link opens, but the web page information does not appear in the location bar. It is blank. If I open the link in a new tab, there is ho problem.
Further, if a open a link from the tab without a location in a new tab on the same window and then go back to the original tab, the location bar fills with the web address.
Have done this starting in several locations, so it not location dependent.

That behaviour is likely top be caused by an add-on, and in your case the likely culprit is IE Tab 2, the various versions of IE Tab have caused problems with Firefox 4 beta including issues with the location bar not being updated.
You can test to see if IE Tab 2 is causing your problem by disabling it and then seeing if the location bar in a new window shows the address. If it is not that add-on causing the problem, see [[troubleshooting extensions and themes]].
For info, the IE Tab Plus add-on has been updated recently to improve compatibility with Firefox 4 beta, you may want to try that one instead. The latest version is available from http://coralietab.mozdev.org/installation.html

On the online tutorials I've seen it shows that when you create a new iTunes library it should open as a blank account, but that isn't happening.

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar

When opening links in a new tab there used to be dots surrounding the link (made it easy to see your place on a list), this is gone in Firefox 4. Can it be restored or simulated?

I open new tabs from a lot of links that are in lists. In Firefox the link would be surrounded by dots when I opened the new tab which made it easy to know where I was in the list if I had to get up or even look away from the screen. This is gone in Firefox 4 and it's really annoying to have to try to keep my place in the lists all of the time. Can this be fixed?

if I right click and open in a new tab. It will work if I open link in a foreground tab but then it will switch to the opened tab then and I want to stay on the list page not switch to the tab page.
I am not technical enough with Firefox to understand the page that you sent. Can you explain what do if this can be fixed? If not are you able to pass it on to a programmer so it can be fixed on a coming revision?

Sometimes when I open a link in a new tab firefox opens it properly but alerts me with "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (bar) isn't associated with any program."
