Major Problem with Phone Line and Support.

Well my problem started about a month and week ago. The problem is that my phone line is messed up. My line drops out unexpectedly and I cant receive calls or send calls. If it does work then the phone only rings for half a second 3 times. If you dont pick it up mostly on the first ring you cant answer the call. And if it doesnt the caller who calls me gets a verizon voice message thing that is setup for the previous owner of the phone number. We called verizon a month ago and setup a appointment for the 18th. Well they called the 17th and said they were sorry they missed us for the appointment on the 17th. We told them it was on the 18th and they said that they guess they forgot to call to tell us the date was changed to the 17th. So they said they will have someone out the next day, on the 18th. We waited at home and they still didnt show up. We called and they set a appointment on the 28th. We waited and they never came again. Now its the 30th and its getting rediculous. We refuse to pay for a service that will never be fixed and we cant use but for 1/3 of the time, if lucky. Is there any fix to this other than getting another appointment?

It sounds to me like your phone line has a short somewhere.  If it was a "hard short", your phone wouldn't work at all.  But yours rings, and then shorts out.  Could be a wiring issue, or it could be a phone issue.  I would unplug all equipment (phones, faxes, computers, etc).  Then take one good phone to a jack and plug it in.  See if the problem still exists.  If it is still a problem, try a different phone at that same jack.  If it's cleared, the problem is with the first phone, if it's still there, unplug the phone and try a different jack.  If the problem cleared, the trbl is at the first jack.  If it's still there, then you either have a short somewhere inside your home wiring, OR the phone number MIGHT BE FORWARDING to another number (which would explain the strange message that callers receive).  Find out how to remove call forwarding in your area (usually by hitting *73 on your phone).  Please post results.

  • At a loss with phone line and broadband

    Hi,
First of all, sorry for cross posting this, but as you might gather I'm currently stuck between a rock and a hard place.
    http://community.bt.com/t5/Phones/At-a-loss-with-phone-line/td-p/54639
I'm not going to repeat everything in that post, just to say when all equipment is unplugged and you get crackles and white noise through the phone, it can not be equipment, no matter how intermittent. Am I correct?
The main reason for cross posting is around the annoying BRAS IP profile. It seems that for 30mins of static, I get stuck on a 130k profile for 3days. I could cope with the occasional outage or slow down, but 3days is half a week and when you have the recent bad weather, you get 1day of decent profile before the next spat! As a result of this, I would like to see if anyone else in the community has been through similar?
I will point out that I have been working in IT for 13years, so I like to pretend that I know something about things, but I must say that BT is one of the only companies that I deal with and dealt with that seem insistent on blaming the customer for everything.

  • Problem with phone line after installation of BT I...

    Hi,
After persuading my dad (86) to switch from aol to BT infinity he is still without a working phone line.  The phone line worked perfectly before switching to BT.  Bt infinity was installed 5 weeks ago and ever since then his phone line developes a loud buzzing noice then breaks up completely after about 1-2 minutes into a call.  Has been reported to BT several times, 4 BT engineers have been out to try and fix the problem without any success.  We do not seem to be getting anywhere with BT and do not know what to do next.
Any help/advice would be gratefully received.

  • Problem with phone line

    Hi there,
I have been having problems with my phone line since May. The line is fine until one day I will pick up to make a call and there will be no dial tone. The tones on the keypad make a noise but the call doesn't happen. No one can get hold of me on my landline. When I get my son to do a line check the phone works again for a few days and then the problem starts again. This has all started since I got broadband. I have had two visits from engineers, the last one being Friday 20th August. That engineer told me he couldn't understand what was happening, he thought it might be the old underground cables and they couldn't cope with the broadband. I have the same issue again and am at my wits end. What should I do next?

    Hi Coomrith and welcome
Did the engineer say whether he was going to escalate this?

  • Major problems with BT infinity and now no service...

    Hi all,
I've been a BT customer for a while. I moved from Virgin Media and found BT to be fantastic. It was fast, reliable, decently priced and I was very satisifed as a customer. I used to recommend them to everyone. Sadly I am currently experiencing the worst of BT. It's not their products letting me down, it's a problem with customer services.
I had BT Infinity 2, Youview and a telephone package at home. I paid for my line rental up front and all was well. I was about to move home and so I contacted BT in plenty of time to advise of this. The new place didn't have a phone line but they offered to wave connection charges if I signed up to a new contract. No issues and I was happy.
Plans changed and I ended up not moving house. I called BT to cancel my home move. They understood fully and said that despite the service being stopped at my home they would reinstate it and cancel the installation at the other address. All good so far.
A day or so later I had a phone line, with a different phone number sadly, and BT Infinity back on at my current home address. Brilliant! I was happy.
A few days passed and I received a call from a BT engineer. He was outside the address I was at one point going to be moving to. I explained I didn't want the service installing there because I had not moved afterall and that BT were aware of this. He apologised and said he'd sort it. Sadly a few days later another engineer called from outside the address again. This happened a total of THREE times - so anyone waiting a while for BT engineers to install or fix your service, perhaps this is a reason as to why you're waiting so long with three cancelled appointments going to waste!
Finally I stopped getting the calls. I was told by customer services that my phone number would change back to my original number in a few days and that I could sit back and relax and nothing else would need doin. Lovely. Unfortunately that wasn't the case.
A week or so later the Infinity broadband stopped working.
I checked with BT, they told me that I had not had Infinity broadband since the cancelled move. I told them I had and that it was sorted by one of their overseas call centres, but they insisted I hadn't had it and that whatever this person overseas had done it wasn't right.
At the time of having the broadband it was coming through the Infinity port, in to an Infinity modem and in to the homehub 3 via the Infinity port. On top of that I was getting around 35-37Mb/s which is about right for the area I live in for Infinity. And finally, a few IP and speed checks at the time had confirmed I was indeed on BT Infinity. Despite all this the lady on the phone insisted it wasn't possible for this to have happened and I must have been mistaken!! Look at the facts, they speak for themselves.
BT then advised me that they had to now cancel all my services which would take at least 24 hours. Then I'd have to wait until Monday because nothing is done over the weekend, for a new order to be placed. I would receive a call on Monday, which to be fair they made and kept their word.
Now I'm in the situation where BT are sending out an engineer to install BT ADSL to my address. This will be a temporary thing for a week or so while they arrange to fit BT Infinity to my address! I pointed out this was a pointless exervise as my house has Infinity but they just turned it off recently after it working for a week or so. They ignored this until I pointed out I was using Infinity equipment and not ADSL equipment. Now they've said they'll send Microfilters to my address and I can remove the Infinity modem until they reinstall Infinity.
Add to the above that at one point I was also without a phone for a while and spent around 2 hours on hold in total on my mobile phone, which I get charged for, and you can see why I am quickly losing faith in BT. They've managed to turn me from a customer who loved their products to one who dispairs at the thought of having to spend yet more time on the phone to deal with a problem that BT actually appear to have created by not knowing what each department has done.
Each call I hear terms such as 'off line team' 'sales team' ' new order team' and I keep getting passed to different departments. I had at one point a call from BT on my mobile while I was on my landline and the lady on the mobile told me to hang up on the lady on the landline! They can't even be civil with each other it seems!
So here I am, stuck without internet and with a phone number that I don't recognise. My original number rings, but not at my house. Anyone calling me never gets an answer, where ever it actually rings.
Today I was told this whole problem is going to take yet another week, until at least a week today! And even then the solution at that point will be a temporary ADSL connection, not the Infinity product that I pay for.
The overseas call centre appeared to have it all sorted. Infinity was back, my phone was meant to change in a day or two. Then the UK team got hold of it, cancelled Infinity, ordered ADSL, turned it all off for at least two weeks and apologised a few times.
Although people are polite on the phone and I respect they are trying to help individually, nobody has taken ownership of my problem. I am passed from team to team, churned out the same lines on each follow up call and each time the delay gets longer and longer without actually getting the service I'm meant to have. This is appauling customer service.
Can someone at BT PLEASE sort out my account and turn on my services? It appears that everything physically works, but people keep turning things off for some reason and then doubting me when I say it was working.

  • Problem with phone line after moving flats

I have moved to a new flats 3 months ago.  We transferred our BT line (BT is our phone and internet provider) to our new flat, internet works fine, but the phone line doesn't! We are not able to call anyone, or receive any calls. Is it something we can do to fix it on our own or should we call an engineer? Will it cost us anything if we call a BT engineer?

  • Major Problems WIth Iphone 3G and Quality is not very good please help?

ok everyone this month i bought an iphone 3G and have experienced lots of problems, dropped calls phone turns off by itself for no reason and restarts, sometimes phone will be locked and music controls will show on the screen,i do have a dead pixel on the screen also, screen does not seem level like its not even or something, lock unlock button on top is uneven,i had the original iphone and it was built with quality this phone ***** really bad, well i made an appointment with a macgenuis to replace the phone, but today i accidently dropped it and no there is a two scratches in each corner and there seems to be a small gap between the screen and the metal on one side, this phone is really cheap quality, what i wanted to know if apple will still exchange the phone under warranty or now will they question it becuase i dropped it, but its not fair becuase the problem was before i dropped it and it was horrible and also i turn off 3G becuase sometimes i hear myself echoing and not the other person and sometimes also i hear a crackling noise.... please help what should i do

This is a user to user help forum only so no one here can answer regarding what AppleCare or an Apple Store will do in this situation. Every warranty claim is on a case by case basis. If a fellow user tells you - sure Apple will exchange your iPhone and Apple doesn't exchange it due to the accidental damage, what you are told here carries no weight in this regard.

  • N95 problem with phone memory and backup.

My phone is saying that I have 1870 MB of messages on the phone memory (which can't be true), and it is refusing to back up on the memory card, which I guess is because of this problem as it thinks there's not enough space on the card.
Anyone know what could cause this problem?
    Thanks for your help.
    T-mobile please give us v.20 N95 software.

Hmm, well I'm stumped. If it's within warranty perhaps contact the supplier and accept they'll probably lose your data. I can't be any more helpful I'm afraid, especially as I'm a user and not an actual Nokia technician.
All I can suggest given the extra info you've provided, is to buy a card that can hold the imaginery 1870MB's and change the message storage settings? Alternatively look at the phone via PC suite which makes some files and folders visible on the phone memory (called 'C' drive). Prod around there may be, with research you may find the file that collects that info, delete it and the phone 'may' replace it with the corect values?
I'd be interested to know of the real solution.

  • MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH IPHONE 3G AND MICROSOFT EXCHANGE!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!

    Ok,
My exchange server at work was synced to my iphone and has worked with no issues. I then exchanged my phone because there were issues with my bluetooth not syncing properly. So with this new phone, it prompts me to enter in my exchange server password every few days. I contacted my IT department as well and microsoft to get this issue resolved because I assume that there were issues with the exchange server. They were both able to see an event viewer and it showed that my iphone was attempting to log in numerous amounts of times, which locks out my account after 3 incorrect log ins. Even when I erased the exchange account from my phone, it still showed that the phone in the event viewer was trying to log in over and over again. I then did a master clear and restore and the process was removed in the event viewer. So then I called my IT department to unlock my account after I cleared everything. I was able to sync everything again with it working properly. Now its a day later and the my exchanger server prompts me to enter in the password AGAIN and my exchange account is locked AGAIN because the event viewer at work is showing the same issues. Is my Iphone not saving the password correctly? What do I do? My IT department even created a dummy account to see if a new account would fix the issues but yet no cigar! HELP!!

The iPhone you returned is still syncing against your server and locking out your account. Someone possibly has access to your mail data. I'd recommend having your Exchange Administrator install the Microsoft Exchange Server ActiveSync Web Administration Tool (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=E6851D23-D145-4DBF-A2CC -E0B4C6301453&displaylang=en) and attempt to wipe/delete/block that other iPhone.

  • Home hub causing problems with phone line

I posted earlier about a phone extension problem- it seems the hub is the problem. My phone had no dial tone just lots of noise, there doesnt seem to be a wiring problem, however if I unplug the home hub the phone will work fine! I have tried a new cable to the hub, tried microfilters which I know are ok, but the problem is no dial tone ,noise, or a recorded voice saying please try again. I assume the hub has a fault unless someone has any other rsuggestions

have you tried connecting the hub and a phone to the test socket using a filter

  • Major Problem with regExp.exec and regExp.test

I'm a programmer, and I'm using regExp's to simplify my life in a chat thing.
Basically, ":blue:" in a chat will essentially be replaced with "<span style='color:blue;'>".
because there can be all sorts of colors, I can't use replace.
Instead, I used regExp.exec(string). However, there is a major bug where every other time, the regExp.exec returns null even if there IS a match.
If the chat is ":blue:", the response will alternate as :blue:,null,:blue:,null, etc.
If the chat is ":blue: :red:" (e.g. two color blocks) the response will go :blue:,null, null,:blue:,null, null and so on.
Basically, if there are 'x' color blocks defined, the .exec will work every x+1 times, and the other times it will not find a match.
    this also happens with regExp.test.
I have gone through my code hundreds of times, and finally, I decided to run it in Opera. It works PERFECTLY fine. even in IE, it works. So i had to assume it was some bug with Firefox.
I hope this question catches the attention of the MOZILLA DEVELOPERS, as this is huge.
I'm not sure if it's just me. However, I have uploaded an html file onto http://jsbattle.tablocks.com/Untitled-1.html (the subdomain had a different purpose, but i figured i would put it here), and it will alert :blue: and null (at least for me). You can view the source code.
An important note is that this .exec and .test glitch only happens inside functions. for example, regExp.exec twice just in a script tag will run fine, but while in a function abc() {regExp.exec} and executing abc(); abc(); it'll glitch out.
I have not run extensive tests to see when this glitch occurs, this is all I know.
Please help, Mozilla Developers. And if anyone knows how to contact the Mozilla Developers, tell me, or address them of this issue.

Ok ... it's the 'g' flag but with IE don't occours

  • Problems with dropped calls and no reception on Samsung Continuum

My mother and I both purchased a Samsung Continuum in late March 2011, and have experienced the same problems with the phone.  The device drops at least 2-3 calls per day, often on the same conversation; we have not found that location or time of day makes a difference.  The phone freezes up frequently, even if no apps are running in the background.  We lose our 3G network reception frequently, and cannot access our texts, emails, or the internet.  The screen saver kicks in even when we are actively dialing a number, or typing in a text message.  The overall performance of the phone is also poor, and it is quite slow much of the time.
We have raised this issue several times with a representative at one of the Verizon stores, but he states that he can find no problem with the phone, and that these issues may not be covered under our insurance plan.  None of my friends with non-Samsung phones are having the same problems with phone reception and performance.  I am aggravated enough with these issues that I am considering reactivating my old Blackberry, which worked like a charm.
I am not upset that my phone has not been updated to Android 2.2.  I just want the phone to perform as stated, and not fail at its primary function:  making and receiving phone calls.  I am not certain if these problems originate with the phone, Verizon, or Samsung, nor do I care.  I just want to resolve these issues as soon as possible, or I will have to look at other alternatives.
    Thank you.

If this doesn't work...now what??? I have a useless $400 plus piece of unreliable junk. My Motorola Razor was ions more reliable than this phone...very, very sad but true.
What carrier were you using with the Razor? AT&T? Same area?
