Major problems with transferring songs to new iPod touch 5th gen

Hi, I'm in need of help.
I just bought a new iPod touch 5th generation today and I naturally wanted to transfer some songs to it today via iTunes. I have an old MacBook aluminium with os x 10.5.8 and I have not been able to update any of my programs lately due to the fact that my os does not support them. When I plugged in my iPod to my computer, iTunes immediately opened and said that I had to upgrade to the latest version of iTunes because my iPod is not compatible with the current version. I tried doing so but failed since my os is not compatible with the new program. This is obviously just a vicious circle, since as I said, I have to buy the latest os x to update any of my programs. And since my computer is 5 years old I do not feel the need to do that, because I will soon buy a new one (in about a year).
So now I really need help. How do I transfer music to my iPod without using iTunes? I've tried googling it and I've downloaded a bunch of programs but they are just 30 day trials and that won't work for me since I update my iPod daily. I've also tried putting music on dropbox but my iPod won't download music files from there, and sending music through Bluetooth won't work either. For a moment I though iCloud might work but I don't have that on my computer nor can I download it. Right now the situation seems hopeless, is the only way of solving this by upgrading my old computer or wait until I buy a new one? I feel like there must be some sort of way, but I can't come up with anything else.
Please help me, thank you

I know of no way except to upgrade the computer/purchases newer computer that will handle iTunes 10.7 or later.
If you have a Power PC processor (vice an Intel processor) you need a Mac with an Intel processor. If you computer has an Intel processor just purchase the Snow Leopard upgrade disk About $30

  • Brand new ipod touch 5th gen 64gb problems with first power on

I have just received a brand new ipod touch 5th gen 64 gb from amazon. After reading the instructions i tried to power it on but nothing happened.
It was suggested on here to try the recovery start but again, nothing happened.
I then plugged the device in to a wall socket charger to see if the battery is flat, but the apple logo comes on for about 15 seconds then goes off again. If I hold down the home button while the apple logo is off, after a while the ipod goes into recovery start up, but as soon as i unplug it from the wall socket adaptor it turns off.
It will not do anything plugged into the usb soccket of my laptop.
Any ideas or will I have to return this to amazon?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. You can go to an Apple store even if yo purchased it from Amazon

  • Brand-new iPod Touch 5th gen often freezes win7 while charging

    Hi,
I've had a new iPod touch 5th gen for about two weeks now.
I also have a laptop that runs Win7, that has had no problems whatsoever until now, and that has no problems when the iPod isn't plugged in.
    Here's what happens:
I plug in the iPod Touch to update files and recharge the battery
All goes well, iTunes sees iPod, battery's charging
    Lalala
    Bam! Some 15-30min later:
    Laptop freezes over.
I have had to manually shut down the laptop more than a dozen times in a couple weeks now.
The iPod is killing the laptop dead. Slowly, but surely, it's happening.
I love my laptop. I NEED my laptop. I otherwise love the iPod too
This happens whether the iPod is ejected, but still charging, or not; whether iTunes is on or not
I unplug the iPod: nothing; laptop still dead.
Sometimes, it happens when I change songs, as I simultaneously listen to the iPod while it charges.
Other times, it happens while fiddling with playlists and tag infos in iTunes. (<-- I am particularly weary of this one, since, it seems to me, the iPod takes a few good seconds to access tag infos/change songs, much longer than, for instance, did my iPod Nano 5th gen, though, understandably, that one did not have an OS)
Other times, it just happens suddenly, with no apparent cause other than that the iPod is plugged in.
Could it be the cable? (any way to find that out without investing in a new cable? )
The iPod runs iOS 6.1.3; the laptop runs iTunes 11.0.5.5.
The laptop is equipped with a fairly new SSD, no HDD [does that matter?!]
Any help/ideas to get these two to get along would be greatly appreciated !! Thanks.

If yo mean the iPod freeze and does some things when charging. other users have experienced that problem. However. I have not seen a reply concerning the resolution.

  • On/off button not working on brand new iPod touch 5th gen

My daughter has just unboxed a brand new iPod touch 5th gen that arrived today.
It wouldn't turn on so I assumed the battery was flat which I thought was odd but I plugged it in and it came on - 90% + battery.
The on/off button does not do anything. We've pressed it, held it - nothing. If I press the on/off and the home button together, Siri starts.
It will only switch off after a minute has elapsed. We can't do it manually.
    What's going on? Any ideas?

If you have an Apple store nearby I would make an appointment at their Genius Bar.

  • My brand-new iPod touch (5th Gen) battery takes a very long time to fully charge, even while not in use. Why is this and what should I do?

Just recently bought a brand-new iPod touch, 5th generation. To be exact, got it two days ago, this past Saturday, on 12/13/2014. Initially, when I first turned it on, it had a fully charge and I didn't need to charge it. I also didn't see anything in the very small and limited start-up guide you receive with it to charge it for a certain amount of time before use, or to use it until the battery dies, then charge all the way, like a lot of electronic devices have you do when you first purchase them.
So I was assuming I didn't need to do anything like that. First question, should I have charged it for a period of time before use? Should I have used it until the battery died, then plugged it in and charged it fully before use? Or is none of this necessary initially and iPod batteries are good to go from the start?
Please excuse me if this is an obvious question, as this is my first ever iPod. Anyways, like I said, nothing in the "instructions" said anything about that, so I didn't do it, I just used it until it got below 20% battery left, then I plugged it in.
Now for the battery itself, it takes literally a day or so to fully charge, even while not in use. Even if I use it for a while, turn off the iPod to make sure it shuts off all background data and apps, and then plug it in to charge, it still charges extremely slowly. I've never seen a device take this long to charge. As for the battery life itself, I'd say at full charge it lasts about 4-5 hrs, maybe 6, and then I have to charge it again. Meanwhile it takes around 24 hours, without me using it, to fully charge. If I use it while its charging, the battery decreases faster than it charges, and eventually I'll get the typical "20% battery remaining" message pop up.
I know it is charging, as the lightning symbol is next to the battery symbol. Specifically, right now, I plugged it in about 1 hr 30 minutes ago, and it has barely gone up. Also, whenever I press the home button to check the battery, I can see it jump down from about 50% to somewhere around 25%-30%. What is that about?
This is really frustrating, and I'm seriously contemplating either taking it back and trying my luck with a different iPod, or just taking it back and getting my money back. Any help and clarification on this matter would be greatly appreciated, and I'll answer any questions I can to shed more light on this.

It will take longer to charge the 5G's battery than either the 3G or 4G's battery.

  • NEW IPOD TOUCH 5TH GEN

    Hi,
Just wondering when does the new Apple Ipod Touch 5th GEN comes out in Australia ready to purchase? And in the box contents, does it come with the new Earpods with mic?

    It comes with:
    Apple EarPods
No mention of mic being included in the earphones. I doubt it since the iPod has a built-in mic and the 4G, with built-in mic, did not come with a mic in the headphones.
For delivery date, you have to go to your country's website. In the USA, after you start to purchase the iPod it just says ships in October.

As the title says, this is a brand new iPod touch bought from a store, I plugged it in a commenced the "setting up" process through iTunes on may iMac. • Found Practically new iPod Touch 5th Gen. - I'm throwing it away

    Hi,
I've read several of these same questions: Someone finds an iSomething, can't find owner, and wants to get it out of "disabled" mode and use it.  And then they get accused of being a criminal.  I have an iPhone 6, iPad 2, iPhone 4, and my son an iPhone 5s.  I don't give an iShi* about this iPod that I've had for two months, but if I do not get an answer as to what to do, that doesn't cost me anything to return it to its rightful owner, it's going to be thrown in myTrash outside.
    Facts:
Son found iPod Touch 5th Generation that was disabled at a party over two months ago.
Tried to find owner, and knows the owners name
Owner has changed his phone number, is no longer on Facebook, and his name is pronounced and spelled so weird, we (now i) can't locate him
    So, iTried this:
Plugged into iTunes in recovery mode and wiped clean.
Turned it on and after asking the couple of standard setup questions, says it is attached to z*******@gmail.com
Had my son go on Facebook and ask if anyone knew how to get in touch with this guy
Stopped at AT&T and Verizon, and asked if they knew what to do.
They said, "I guess take to an Apple store."
Apple store is 60+ miles aways from where I am right now, and trying to contact support is enough to make me go batsh** crazy, as I've just gone through this same process with my son trying to get his XBox 360 repaired under warranty from Microsoft, and spent four hours with four different "chat specialist" just to get a simple e-mail sent in order to print shipping label and send the thing off.
I do not want the iPod, even if I could get it detatched from this guy.  I'm 40 years old, and don't spend all my time listening to music and Twittering and Snapchatting, and Facebooking, and everything else that is ruining the minds of every young person I know.
So, if someone could kindly direct me DIRECTLY to the place where I can get ship this thing to Apple for free, or contact them, I will do so.  If not, I've spent enough time on trying to do the right thing, because I'm sure this careless 19 year old who was drunk at a party didn't buy the thing to start with, and his poor broke mom probably bought it for him, and like my sons, because of the very things he's lost, his attention span is like that of a moth and he doesn't care.
Thank you, and have a nice day.
P.S. Apple should have an address or a link built in so that if someone reaches this stage, they can instantly have the iUselessDevice returned, or get in touch with someone at Apple without going through a hundred thousand menu prompts.  If they do, please tell me where they have this available.  I've wasted 20 minutes typing this right now, and I'm angry about that.
P.S.S. But before I throw it away, I will take a hammer and bust into ten thousand pieces just to let all this anger out.  Because if Apple gets it back and can't find the owner, they win, because they will keep it and donate it or scrap it or use it for parts or whatever the he**.  And before it reaches that stage, someone should be able to have it and use it, since the owner and Apple doesn't care.

Turn it into the police. Apple does not help find owner of lost/stolen devices.

  • Music will not play on new iPod touch (5th gen.)

Some music will not play on my brand new (5th gen.) iPod touch. I see a "play" arrow blinking next to the battery icon. Any clues on what the problem is?
