Making a Form Look Nice

I get how to make a form. Making one look nice is a different
matter. Are there hot keys for making multiple text fields at once?
Is there a way to select multiple text fields and resize them as a
group so they all match in layout and positioning?

The only way to 'batch' style your forms would be to use
CSS....

Making a form portlet reusable by allowing a parameter to be passed to it

I have a form that allows maintenance on records. I need to filter the records that a user can maintain, (and insert) based on a column value. I can accomplish this by setting the default value for the (hidden) column. When I query and maintain the records in the form it behaves correctly by only affecting the records for the default value. Now I want to place the form into multiple pages as a portlet.
The goal is to be able to change the default value for the portlet (reuse). I've seen many postings on how to pass things to and from forms, but nothing seems to address allowing a user to easily customize the portlet.
Any bright people out there have a creative solution to this?

I discovered the way to do this is by making the form based on a procedure and creating link to the form. When a form is based on a table or view, the link will pass field information and return records, when a form is based on a procedure there are no records to retrieve so it sets values passed as default.

Sorry Sachin, I mean that I created a simple form on the page from the widget and started adding fields to it. The more fields I add the slower the delay becomes in creating a new field. Even when I try to select and drag or move an item, there's a huge delay and sometimes the program feezes, loose what i've done and have ot restart.
I'm doing an enployment form that has more than 20 fields, at least, and I need to be able to build the fields in separate categories, like Education, Past Employment, etc... quickly without delay issues.
I can probably send you a snap shot of what I'm talking about if I cna post it or attach it here..?

Oracle Forms Look & Feel

I want to change my forms look & fell thats why I performs below mention steps.But when form run the look & feel naver change only visual attribute of emp block becomes purple & when i change color then its not change means always remains purple.
Steps Performed.
1) My Forms install on C:\Oracle\Dmhome10g Direcotry.
2) I am using Oracle JINITIATOR 1.3.1.17
3) I am using JRE 1.4.2.17.
4) My Os Platform Is Windows Advance Server 2000.
5) I put Laf.Jar file in C:\Oracle\Dmhome10g\Forms90\Java.
6) I open formsweb.cfg file & put archive=frmall.jar,laf.jar
When I run the form then emp block visual attribute becomes purple & other theme remains defult no other changes performed. And when I change color then no action happened.
I had 1 question in my mind.
1) Where I put "DrawLAF.java" file.

I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing. I am speaking about the Java console opened when you run your form (the little coffe-cup icon in the quick task bar) that should show something like this:

How To make Openoffice look nicer in xfce4??

I´ve been using openoffice2 for month in xfce4. it always looked nice. The same like in kde or gnome.
But since couple of days it looks like crap. Like an old GTK1 application.
I really don´t know what the cause for this was / is.
Anyone an idea?

Not sure I understand the question. Are you talking about the "Download Response as PDF" feature (to see the PDF filled out with the filler's data) or the "Download Submission Enabled PDF" (to sent to people to fill out)?
If you imported a PDF in FormsCentral, the Submission Enabled PDF will look exactly the same as the imported PDF plus a submit button
If you designed the form in FormsCentral and save the Submission Enabled PDF it will look very similar to the web form (switch the view in the Design Tab to Page View to see what the PDF will look like)
The PDF doesn't use skip logic or show/hide logic so this mean that the PDF always shows all the form elements

"PL/SQL tables reside in the private PL/SQL area of the Oracle Server database instance; they are not available as client-side structures at this time. As a result, you cannot declare and manipulate PL/SQL tables in your Oracle Developer/2000 environment."

Here is another way to do this. At least i did this like described below.
1) Make a copy of ifrun60.exe
2) Run Borland Resource Workshop
3) Prepare your own icon and save it to disk
4) Open ifrun60.exe in Resource Workshop
5) Substitue the icon to that you saved previously
6) Save changed ifrun60.exe
7) Run ifrun60.exe and enjoy your new icon

Make gtk3 applications look nice on xfce4

Gtk3 apps have the windows 98 look on my fresh xfce4 install.
In order to change the looks of qt apps I use qtconfig.
What do I do in order to make gtk3 apps look nice because gnome-tweak-tool doesn't work.

Making the Form File Object Look in Specific Folder

Hi, I am using a form to identify attachments that will be
sent with an email use webserver CDOSYS once the form has been
submitted. So, I have made the user first upload the attahments to
an 'Attachments' folder on the web and now I want him to be able to
browse to that folder so I can identify them such as
MailObj.AddAttachment

On my DWMX form, how do i get the Form 'File' object (with
the browse button) to browse to my webserver attachemt folder only

You can't. That Browse button only looks on the users
local/networked
drives.
You could create a routine that would display the list of
files on the web
server and they could select it from that list.

Making circles form a circle

I just downloaded Fireworks last night, so I am extremely new.
I want to make several circles take the form of one circle. I am making a logo. I can't figure out how to space inner circles evenly so I can remove the outer circle I have for shape. I hope this makes sense.

Thank you. Let me try to give an example. I tried to copy & paste, but wouldn't work.
I made a large circle to form the space that I want to work in. Inside the large circle are several smaller circles.
I want the inner smaller circles to look like they form one large circle. It's like one of those trick of the eye questions: How many circles are there. You would count all the circles, and then the one circle they make as a shape.
I do not want the small circles to combine or touch. I just want them to look like they shape a larger circle.
I'm sorry, but I hope this helps. If not I will try to figure out how to get the shapes I have on here. If you know I would appreciate it!

Modify .wmf graph in illustrator (make it look nice)

I'm a newbie, just trying to figure out how to edit a .wmf file that is a graph and was generated by a statistical program. I need to visually enhance this graph, making it look more appealing for publication in a manuscript. It's very simple, just need to make rectangles behind the existing text that form the columns in the graph, and shade the rows of the graph to assist the reader to follow the row across the graph. While I can edit the text on the .wmf, I can't get a rectangle to be placed under the existing text unless I lower the opacity of the rectangle which won't work as I need black and white only. I've tried converting the text to rectangle, but the stretching of the text won't be acceptable. What would be the workflow I should attempt to follow to enhance the looks of the document in illustrator? Is there a trick to getting the rectangle to behave? It works just fine if I actually type NEW text in, then place a rectangle, but I'll have to work with the info in the .wmf file - can't re-type it all.

Thank you for your feedback. I am able to open the .wmf file and do things to pretty it up such as change font size, color, move things around, delete lines and other random things. What I really want to be able to do is to take the title of a graph column and put a black rectangle behind the white column title text. When I do this the black rectangle is the only thing that is visible, so I then send it "back", but then I can't see the black rectangle at all. I've set the text forward as well. The only way I've figured a way around this is to create the black rectangle, but then change the opacity to 40% so that the text will show through. This is not acceptable as the requirements for the project demands the titles of the graph be blocked black with white text. I'm not sure how AI translates the .wmf file into AI. It does not appear to be a true text type object, although I can modify font size and font color. I've also tried changing text to rectangle, however this stretches/shrinks the text based on the size of the rectangle. I need a fixed font and fixed size rectangle. Maybe this is a very simple fix, and I've over-complicated it. fingers are crossed that there is a magic fix
I'm on PC. I would insert an image showing what the file looks like raw, then the after edit (done by someone who knows how), but I can't figure out the upload. grr.

How to make embedded HTML form look normal?

In Muse, if I Insert HTML code with:

<input type="submit" value="Submit">

…the form is displayed in my Muse page. However, it doesn't look normal, meaning:
- The text fields have no border and appear to be invisible until you start typing in them.
- The Submit button size is minimal, wrapping tightly around the text, and there is no border or bevel.
* I have experimented with specifying an HTML border and width in the above code, with no change in results.
Basically, this HTML code looks normal in a regular .html page. However, in a Muse page (with Insert HTML), the visual appearance of the form elements looks abnormal… stripped-down.
Can anyone suggest a way to add HTML form content and make it look correct? I don't want to use the Muse Form Widgets, because they all "require" the email field, and I don't want that capability. Thanks for any suggestions.

I answered my own problem.
It seems that the solution is having knowledge of CSS, which I don't. That's what Muse is supposed to provide, and I'm not a CSS expert.
At http://www.ronpershing.com/blog/how-to-make-a-custom-contact-form-in-adobe-muse/ , Ron Pershing gives some very simple code on making it all work with Muse. I'm not affiliated with him or his website, but since he was kind enough to publish a solution, his work should get some attention.

Making the form "Unsecured" for advanced editing tools in PDF?

I have a Comment Card or Customer Satiscation Survey form that I created through Adobe LiveCycle Designer and I need help... I want to use the "Submit By Email" button BUT I don't want it sent back to me in data form... There is a buttons they click for 1-5 satisfaction and a comment area at the bottom of the form but I want the full form back, not the xml data...
So my plan was to use the Advanced Editing under the Tools tab on Adobe Acrobat Professional... Then use the Link Tool I believe it is to put a mask over top of the "Submit By Email" button and have it send me back the form filled out... I haven't tested this theory yet because the form is "Secured" while in PDF and I don't know how I can get my idea to work...
Can anyone help?

I suspect that the form is "secured" when viewed in Acrobat becuase you have set an open-password for when the formed is opened in LC Designer. This applies security to the form (which also prevents a user from printing to PDF).
Even if the form does not have the security, you will not be able to use AcroForm tools on an LC Designer form. They are different animals!
There is a solution, which is in plenty of posts to the forum. If you use a standard "button" instead of a "submit by email" button, you can have JavaScript in the click event which would look something like this:

var vBody = "Put some nice customer focused text in here and it will appear in the body of the email for the customer.";

The submit as PDF command will ensure you get the form and not just the XML.
When developing in LC, it is best to do all of the scripting in LC, rather than trying to adapt parts of it in Acrobat (imho) ;-)
