Making a web gallery type photo viewer in encore

Ay guys,
so I'm relatively new with the whole encore thing. I know enough that I can make menu's, buttons, put in animations etc. the basics really.
I'm wondering if theres a way to make one of my menu's a photo gallery kind of like this one
http://www.filebuzz.com/software_screenshot/full/49904-FlexiGallery__XML_Flash_Image_Galle ry.gif
Where the small ones at the bottoms are thumbnails and when clicked show up in the bigger one up top.
i know photoshop has the ability to make web galleries but i wasn't sure if or how they could transfer over.
Thanks and any info is greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

For a Photo Gallery, I think that you will want to look a Adobe Bridge, Adobe Lightroom, and finally for publishing, Adobe Dreamweaver.
Encore is a DVD/BD authoring program, and other than creating a DVD Flash, it will be pretty limited, doing what you want to do. You would end up with a very Menu-heavy Project (only get 1GB of Menus and navigation), and then is more suited for Flash Video on a Web page. You could possibly construct something, but it would be rather of a kludge, and also fairly limited. With those other Adobe programs, you will have much more latitude and far greater flexibility.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Help! web gallery colorshift when viewed on another pc

my web gallery photos look great on my mac but look dark & somewhat dirty when viewed on another
pc. I have tried importing through adobe lightroom, iphoto 8 as well as directly to desktop then importing to iphoto. I typically shoot RAW- i have tried converting to jpeg before importing as well. Frankly I've tried so many things(including adjusting color profile) that I'm not sure where I'm at or what I've done- I have finally managed to get my images to print properly so am apprehensive about making more changes on my own - I've had my mac for only a couple months so much on it is still new to me...thanks in advance for any help

    Thanks for the quick reply,
The colorshift is happening on the windows based pc, (I am using safari on my imac)- I am assuming IE on the windows platforms.
I am assuming then, that it is because the windows users are using another browser?
what can I do so that they see what I see?

  • Web Gallery Maximum Photo Size

After evaluating the .mac service, I came to learn that the photos I import into iPhoto08 and subsequently upload to a .mac web gallery are modified (downsized/compressed). See the following link for details: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1071. I would imagine that for most people, limiting the picture size to 6 megapixels probably isn't a big deal. However, in my case I have a Canon 5D camera, use Photoshop CS3 to edit my photos, and use an Epson 3800 Pro to print my photos. I take great care to ensure that my photos are of the highest quality. When I share them with family/friends, I want them to have these very same high quality photos that I worked on. Given the fact that you are paying for space with a .mac account (10 GB), I'm having a hard time understanding why Apple forces this picture size limitation. Why does Apple care how big my photos are? Does anybody else feel the same way?
As a point of comparison, I've been happily using Smugmug for the past couple years to share photos with family/friends. I pay $40/year, have unlimited storage/downloads, Smugmug renders 7 different viewing resolutions (generated on their server, not on my harddrive), does not alter my photos in any way, and enables my family/friends to order prints.
    Regards,
    Greg

Why does Apple care how big my photos are? Does anybody else feel the same way?
This is a user forum - it is not a place to post questions for Apple. It is NOT a place for RANTS - if you want answers from Apple you must ask Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback. If you just want to RANT there are lots of places on the internet to do that
Do you have a question that any of the users here can assist you with?
Basically at this time I'd say that the answer for you is not to use iPhoto galleries - they are a very nice consumer tool - if they are not up to your quality standard then you are free to use any solution you wish
No One here can CHANGE anything - they may be able to assist you with using iPhoto is you have quesitions

  • Web Gallery and photo Info

I just took some photos with my Canon 40D. I imported then directly into Aperture 2.0. After adding some to a Web gallery and publishing I viewed the info by pressing . It is missing most of the information that I would want to see.
There is no shutter, aperture, ISO, etc information.
Is there something special that needs to be done to display this information.

There seams to be a minor bug or maybe an intentional feature here. When you create a web album you will have the option to upload large JPEG versions of your images. If you select only to upload medium size JPEGs then Aperture will not include EXIF or IPTC data into those medium JPEGs.
If you in the web album settings window go to "Allow: Downloading of: " and check that with any of the three option (Optimized Images/Actual Size Images/Masters and Optimized Images) then Aperture will generate larger JPEGs that includes EXIF and IPTC data.
Upload time will be a lot longer since these files are a lot larger than the medium size JPEGs.
It might be better if Aperture had a check box where you could decide to include or exclude these metadata.

  • Flash Web Gallery large photo border erratic behavior

In Lightroom HTML Web Gallery one can define border styles for the displayed photos. I cannot find a similar future in the Flash Gallery however. Is there one??? In any case, the first 6 photos in my Flash Web Gallery appear with a black border around the main large displayed photos. The subsequent photos do not have any border. In either case, it would be nice to have the border appearance consistent and preferably user definable.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi John,
Thanks for that. A bit more digging - preview in browser is fine and export to harddrive then runs in browser OK. I tried HTML gallery and got the same error (No 2 says a file was truncated) so I chucked it all at another server and it seems to be OK. Looks like an ISP problem.
    Those unconnected problems were:
Despite repairs I still can't burn to CD, it still says it's been disabled. I don't miss the feature but I like to think my installation is fully functional.
I still seem to have a memory leak in that if I crop, edit and export 46 images as jpg it falls over, very politely - sorry for the inconvenience etc but this is repeatable, yesterday it crashed at 46 and 92 images. I wonder if my 2.3 install was OK and this was behind the second part of my question.

  • Iphoto not uploading to Web Gallery - all photos "pending"

I added some more photos to my existing Web Gallery folders, plus created a new one by dragging them into the Web Gallery folders. However, they all appear as "pending" and are not appearing on the web. I've stopped / restarted Iphoto and my Macbook. I've tried removing and adding other photos to the galleries. I've moved the "com.apple.iPhoto.plist" and "com.apple.iPhoto" files to the desktop as suggested in another post. None of these have worked.

Yes, and the icons next to the web gallery names alternate between an arrow that goes round in circles, something that looks like a pie-chart / clock, and one that looks like a wireless transmission icon. Hope you know what I mean.
When I open the web gallery page nothing has changed. I even left it going overnight.

  • Web Gallery duplicating photos

I seem to have a consistent problem of photo duplicating themselves when I add new photos to a Web Gallery. The duplications don't show up on the actual Web gallery but are present within iPhoto, for example iPhoto says there are 96 images and the Web Gallery says 73. This problem only occurs when I add images to an existing Web Gallery and not when creating a new Web Gallery from selected images or albums. If you delete the 'dupe' all instances of the same image are deleted. Anyone else having this problem? any ideas to fix it?

My gallery/iphoto wish list is to have this solved and then to allow the gallery albums to have sub albums within them. Im talking 1600 thumbnail photos per student, 21 students!
This is a user forum and Apple does not monitor or respond here - to provide feedback/suggestions to Apple go to the iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback
As to your duplication issue - I have no idea what you are asking
Yes my gallery looks right except I having trouble putting my lead photo on the album cover.
I think you want to change the key photo - to do this open the web gallery in iPhoto (click on it in the source pane - the left hand list) and find the photo you want as the key photo and drag it to the little thumbnail at the upper left of the window to the left of the gallery name

  • How can I add linkable urls when making a web gallery

I need linkable urls on a web gallery page - ie opening in the browser, preferably in a new window/tab.
I thought I had it by manually editing:
    <contactEmail>url:http://mysite.co.uk</contactEmail>
This *does* load Firefox, but the appended 'url:' is still there.
The xml <sourceURL>http://mysite.co.uk</sourceURL> is not picked up by the code anywhere.
Is there a hack to do this, or even a legitimate way!

hello?? is there anybody out there?
i am starting to wonder if i am asking my question about (an
adobe product regarding Photoshop and flash issue) in the right
    platform.
is there anybody here from ADOBE can be concerned about an
Adobe user's question? am i too impatient that i have expected to
hear for less than a day?
    is there anybody out there?

  • Gallery style photo view in iweb

Ok.  I want to have a the look for my web page as in the following link.  small photos lined up in colum and rows, with one BIG photo next to it.  As you click on the smaller pics, it shows on the larger one.  I do not want to export mobil me, tried that, and it does not work....  Thanks for your help.

Nowadays its better to stay away from flash. There are lots of JQuery ones like this...

Galleria is one of the better ones as it can be finger swiped on iOS devices...

  • Anyone see changes in images when making a web gallery through Adobe Bridge cs4??? Please Help!

When creating web galleries through adobe bridge CS4 the final gallery images become very orange.....
Not even comparable to what we are  seeing in Bridge or Photoshop CS4....
Adobe tells me that this is happening because of the conversion for web use.
We are just noticing this change now and feel that there is a problem somewhere.....
Has anyone else seen this issue or now anything to do to get it fixed???
    It's really annoying, Please Help!!!

You probably want to ask this in the Bridge forum. From what I know, Bridge converts the profile to sRGB which helps avoids big color shifts if you view the images in an uncolormanaged web browser. This may change the appearance slightly, but there shouldn't be a huge shift.

  • Can I change Web Gallery "Key Photos"?

In the album overview, I have not been able to figure out how the album chooses the "Key Photo" that represents the album.
I haven't experimented fully, but it seems that a Key Photo from an Event made into an album follows to the Web Album, but I have several albums and smart albums I also need galleries of.

Oops, there it is. "Make Key Photo" from the "Events" menu.

  • Web Gallery airtight simple viewer

How do I watermark images with watermark feature is not linked in output section to use - but is in others.

The TTG Simpleviewer gallery takes watermarking into account, and is free.

  • Web gallery with feedback, and the viewer don´t sign in.

I´v noticed that if I´m making a web gallery in Lightroom 6 and not in the web module, but a collection that I´v synced, then I can share it on the web.
But if my client wants to comment or mark a photo then the client need to sign in to Adobe.
Can it be done without a sign in?
I would be so nice to have feedback on my shared web galleries without the other person have to sign in.

Create a spare Adobe account for yourself - eg [email protected] - and tell them to use it to login

  • Are there addresses for Web Gallery photos?

So, I assume that when you make a web gallery, the photos are being uploaded to your iDisk space. Is there a direct address to link to so they can be HTML'd?

    Chris:
Open one of the web galleries in iPhoto and look at the top of the window. There will be a url link you can either copy or use to visit the online gallery. If you click on the Tell a Friend button an email will be created with the link in it also.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How to have Web Gallery photos have a Watermark?

I created Web Galleries in Aperture 2.1. I have in the Presets for Web Exporting selected a PSD Watermark I made. But when viewing the photos on the Web Gallery, the photos do not have the Watermark.
I also changed the Presets for Image Export to include a Watermark and these export with the Watermark.
Is there a way to have the photos displayed on Web Galleries to include a Watermark for copyright?

How could they pass this over? I'm using Aperture 2.1.1 so they obviously haven't taken any of this to heart over the past few months. The web gallery feature is so simple and intuitive it's a bit of a slap in the face not being able to embed my watermark. It would only make sense given that they have made downloading your images so simple. If I want to give a client a link to download my pics they certainly need to have some form of copyright on them. Come on Aperture team! Make this stunning product just that much better and please add this feature!
