Making parameter visible on report
I have a subSequence that returns an ASCII string parameter called Msg. Last Friday I checked a box somewhere that caused it to be displayed on the report, but I have slept since then and therefore have forgotten where that check box is located. It would be OK for it to be displayed except it comes out as one line with backslash characters in it such as '\r'instead of multiple lines. I found that if I copied it to Step.Result.ReportText it displays correctly. So 2 questions:
1) Where is the checkbox that causes a parameter to display on a report?
2) Can parameters that get displayed on a report have CRLF characters in them?
Thanks,
jvh
Hello jvh,
This has been reported as a bug in TestStand. We have noticed that there is different behavior depending on if you use it in the report text or additional results. There is also different behavior if the slash code you use is \n instead of \r. Using \n will work in the parameters but \r does not. While the opposite is true for the ReportText. Let me know if you have any other questions about this and have a great day!

Passing Parameter from Main report to SQL command-based subreport
I am trying to cut down the run time of my reports and have recently figured out how to write SQL commands to limit the data by filtering prior to being pulled into the reports. However, many of my reports rely on multiple sub reports, which can cause a dramatic 'drag' on the report.
I am trying to filter the SQL command used in my sub report by passing the group parameter, which is selected by the user in the main report, to the sub report's SQL command. Without this parameter, the sub report has to sort through a lot more data than it would with this parameter, making the run time extremely slow.
Any suggestions on how I can accomplish this?
Thanks for any help you can provide,

I don't believe you can pass a CR parameter to a Command object.
I suggest replacing all of the Command Objects with a Stored Procedure so all of the data filtering is done server side. DB servers are much more proficient at collecting the data and filtering than CR will ever be. It will also allow you to replace subreports to also speed up your report processing. All depends on your layout of course but something to look at.
Thank you

How to show unhidden parameter in linked report in report manager in ssrs ?
Hi,
in my ssrs report1 i have added a image,if i click on that image it will redirect to report2 and it will take parameters from report1 automatically and all parameters are in report2 are hidden because it will consider report1 parameters,but here my requirement
is
in report2 i have total six parameters and all are hidden,i want to show the one of the hidden parameter(LOB) in report,so, i was set visibility property to visible, now i am able to see that one parameter(LOB).
but after deploying the report in report manager,when i click on the image it is not showing the parameter(LOB)
Do i need to change anything in image properties?please let me know
Please help me with this issue how to show the that one particular parameter(LOB) in report manager which is unhidden?, it is an urgent requirement.
here we are building reports on cube.
Please let me know if you need more information.
Thanks in advance,
NaveenHi Naveen,
As per my understanding, since the purpose of a drill-through report is to pass the parameters from main report to the details report, we wouldn't want users to see or modify the parameters in the details report. Therefore, by default, the parameter pane
is automatically hidden in the details report.
In this scenario, we can try to use “Go to URL” instead “Go to report” option to work around this issue. If the parameters are multi-value parameters, we can use the expression to like below:
="javascript:void(window.open('http://server_name/reportserver?/Report_folder/Report_name&A=" &Join(Parameters!B.Value,"&A=") & "','_blank'))"
If the three parameters are single-value parameters, we can use the expression to like below: ="javascript:void(window.open('http://server_name/reportserver?/Report_folder/Report_name&A=" & Parameters!B.Value & "','_blank'))"
If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.
Thanks,

Hide Parameter Pane using Report Properties Code
Hi,
I want to collapse the Parameters pane by default when the users view the report through the URL.
I have read other similar threads and understood the below.
It is possible by appending the command rc:Parameters=Collapsed. But this is only in ReportServer URL and not in Reports URL.
This works fine. But, when the user accessing the report from
http://servername/ReportServer, you cant expect him to append this text everytime. I also found that it can be somehow achieved using Report Properties Code. But, since Im new to that, unable to get how to achieve the same.
Could someone share an example of how to set the default property of rc:Parameters to Collapsed using Code?
Thanks,
AkalyaHi Akalya,
According to your description, you want to hide parameter pane when the user accessing the report from Report Manager. To achieve this goal, we can click “Show/Hide Parameters” arrow to hide the parameter pane after view the report from Report Manager.
Besides, if I understand correctly, you had specify default values for all report parameters, so you want to hide parameter pane. If in this scenario, we can hide all parameters and then the parameter pane will be hidden.
For example, open the report Properties page on Report Manager and go to Parameter tab, click the "Hide" selection for all parameters. We can also hide the parameters by specify the parameter visibility with "Hidden" before you deploy the report to Report
Server.
If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.

How to set a default date as a parameter in Microsoft Reporting Services 2008 to January 1st
How can I set a default parameter for date for 01/01/yyyy.
Hi Giss68,
If I understand correctly, you want to set the first day of current year as a default value of a parameter in Microsoft Reporting Services 2008 report.
If in this scenario, we can use the expression below as the default value in the parameter:
=DateAdd("d",-DatePart(DateInterval.DayOfYear,Today,0,0)+1,Today)
The following document about DateAdd function is for your reference:

How to Display Parameter set in report ??
Hi all...I have a multi select Parameter in a Report.
Generally we use this statement to initialize parameters in template
<?param@begin: parameter_name?>
and to display that we use: <?parameter_name?>
But this is good for single valued parameters
I have a multi select parameter, I need to show all those values(suppose 3) in title of report. (They cannot be included in the SQL as a column)
How do we achieve this?
Thanks a lot in advance!you can use the same <?param@begin:parameter_name?><?$parameter_name?> for multiselect values also

Blank report viewer control when adding a parameter to rdlc report
Hi guys,
I am currently generating a rdlc report in Visual Studio 2010 and embedding it into an asp page using a reportviewer control. My dataset is based on entity framework. The report runs fine and returns plenty of data in the format I want.
Whenever I add a parameter to the report the reportviewer control on my page is just blank.
I'm setting the parameter "available values" from a field in the same dataset used to generate the report but even if I add an empty parameter with no available values the reportviewer control is still blank.
This is the same in both Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox 5.
Any ideas where I'm going wrong?
Thanks in advance.Hi,
please check your report viewer property and make sure the parameter prompts property is true in your code

Passing single/multiple values to stored proc parameter from crystal report
I tried below solution posted on this forum to pass either a single value or multi-value to a sql server stored procedure parameter (varchar datatype) from crystal report XI R2.
In my crystal report , I am displaying all the available parameter values to the user and the user will select either a single value or multi value.
This worked when I select single value and when I say show sql query in my subreport I see the following:
{CALL "XYZ"."dbo"."storedprocedurename";1('Product 1')}
But this did not worked when I selected multiple values and when I say show sql query in my subreport I see the following:
{CALL "XYZ"."dbo"."storedprocedurename";1('Product 1,Product 2')}
I think it might work if it is as below:*
For multiple values:
{CALL "xyz"."dbo"."storedprocedurename";1('Product 1', 'Product 2')}
Please advise.
Solution Posted on this forum is as follows:
Hi,
As you must be aware of that a crystal report created of a stored procedure will allow only a single value for inserting a multiple value as a parameter in your report and pass those values to your stored procedure please follow the below work around which will be helpful for you.
Symptom
In Crystal Reports, you want to pass a multi-value parameter to a stored procedure. The problem with doing so is that Crystal Reports considers the multi-value parameter to be an array.
How can you pass a multi-value parameter to a stored procedure?
Resolution
Here are the steps to pass a multi-value parameter to a stored procedure:
1. Create a Crystal report, and add a multi-value parameter.
2. Since the multi-value parameter is treated as an array, create a formula that uses the JOIN function. Create a formula as below:
//Formula: @JoinFormula
Join ({?Multi-value parameter array},";")
====================
NOTE:
In the formula above, a semi-colon (";") is the delimiter.
====================
3. Within the main report, create a subreport based on the stored procedure, and include the parameter to be populated with the multi-value list.
4. Link the Join formula in the main report to the stored procedure parameter in the subreport.
Doing so passes a multi-value parameter to the stored procedure.
Regards,
VinayHi Vinay,
First you need to make sure the stored procedure accepts multiple values in the fashion 'a','b','c'.
Then, create this formula in the Main Report:
numbervar i;
stringvar s;
for i:= 1 to ubound({?Parameter}) do
s := s + "'" + {?Parameter}<i> + "'" + ",";
left(s,len(s)-1);
Link this formula to the sub-report's parameter.
Hope this helps!

How to change sql server reports parameter direction in report builder 3.0
Hi All,
I have created few reports using Report Builder 3.0 with the data source as SharePoint list. i have created a web part page and added the ".rdl"
file, everything is working as expected. Later, i got a requirement to add a parameter to the report , i did that and when i ran the report in SharePoint page, the parameters shows right side and the parameter ribbon shows the dropdown control on top and "Apply
button" at the bottom. When i presented this to my manager, he says the parameter ribbon looks bad and suggested to put both the controls together and also instead of displaying at right side vertical, display it horizontal.
I have below queries
How can i change the direction of parameter ribbon from vertical to horizontal
How can i bring the controls together (e.g. dropdown list control and button)
How can i add buttons on the report in report builder 3.0
How to get/reflect the data in report without refreshing the page.
Can someone please guide me, how to achieve the above functionalities..

Hi All,
I have one drill through SSRS report in which if I click one hyperlink in the summmary report it should be passed as parameter for detail report, like this....
Summary:

A2
If I click A1 then that should be passed as parameter to detail report and display A1 data in detail report
If I click A2 then that should be passed as parameter to detail report and display A2 data in detail report.
Please give me some ideas or expression code to achieve this in using SSRS 2008R2. Its very urgent.
Thanks,

Passing Multivalued parameter to sub report in SSRS
Hi Team,
I tried passing multi valued parameter to sub report in SSRS but the report is blank.
Rgds,
ShreeHi Shree,
As per my understanding, the issue is caused by the multiple-value parameters are not passed from the main report to the subreport correctly. Please refer to the steps below to check whether you configure the subreport parameter settings correctly:
Drag a Subreport control from toolbox to design surface.
Right-click the Subreport to open the Subreport Properties dialog box, then select the correct report as subreport.
Click Parameters in the left pane.
Add parameters as below (Parameter1 is a single-value parameter, Parameter2 is a multi-value parameter in subreport ):
Name: Parameter1 Value: [@ReportParameter1]
Name: Parameter2 Value: =Split(join(Parameters!ReportParameter2.Value,","),",")
Please also directly select or type the same values in subreport to check whether the subreport works well with those parameter values.
Thanks,
Katherine Xiong
