Manual Create TOC Anchors in Exported ePub

Does anyone have a good tutorial on how to manually insert invisible TOC Anchors into the ePub xhtml files?
I have just finished laying out a novel in which I'm using images as chapter headings instead of actual text.  Because of this, I can't just highlight the chapter name and assign it my TOC Style.  I had created a hidden layer with a single text field, which fixed the problem as far as the print output goes, but the ePub export process discards this data and breaks all the TOC anchors.  If I knew what lines I had to insert into the XHTML files for each chapter, I could then hack the TOC into working.  (I can get at the files, just don't know what to add to each one.)  My navigational TOC is working just fine, although it still needed some cleanup as the export process hates spaces apparently.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I'm not sure of a link to a tutorial I could send you. You can just put anchors (<a id="CHAPTER"></a>) after the p and span classes and before the img class with the chapter name and then link the text toc to the anchor you just made.

  • Can't auto-create TOC!

Hi. I'm a noob with RH, and I'm following both our hastily-written internal instructions and the online Help for RH (both of which say basically the same thing in this case). TCS 1.0 on WinXP.
I imported the FM book (right-click > Add FrameMaker File > By Reference). I did a bit of minor tweaking. Then I went to make the TOC. (I did not create it when I first imported the FM files.)
I expanded the Table of Contents item in the Project Manager pod and double-clicked the existing TOC entry (named "<book> (Default)" where <book> is the name of the document). The TOC pod opens.
At this point the Help says to click the "Auto-create TOC icon." I don't have that icon! There's one that looks very similar, but the tooltip says "Insert TOC Placeholder." That opens the "Insert TOC placeholder" dialog that doesn't seem to do anything. (Nothing happens when I click "View." There's nothing listed under "Used in following Table of Contents." And when I click OK it says "Cannot insert into same Table of Contents.")
What the heck is going on? Why can't I create a TOC?

This one should probably go into the Framemaker Integration section - usually you use the TCS to create the index and TOC over in FM and then pull them both into the RH project - that's the whole point to having the TCS. There's a nice conversion settings dialog that appears when you tell the project to go fetch the FM book.
If you've gotten in this far and don't want to start another project, you're left with manually creating TOC entries and linking them to topics. Look for icons in the TOC pod that talk about adding topics or some such (sorry, I don't have my RH open right now). You'll have to browse to find the topic you want in the add new TOC entry.
    Hope that helps somewhat,
    Jeff

  • I'm finding it difficult creating exporting EPUB from pages. Help please!

    Hello,
I'm finding it quite complicating on how to create and export EPUB files from pages so I can use these to send to iBooks on the iBook store.
Can someone please tell me in the simplest term, how to create and export an EPUB file in pages please???
    Thank you!

That's fine. If I wrote my book on pages on iPad, could I send via email as pages doc to my mac then open in pages on my mac and then export to EPUB from my mac?
I like writing on the move.

  • TOC style template for epubs - where is it stored?

    Hello,
some years ago I saved 3 different toc styles for my epubs. Now I added some more (for 2 levels etc.). This new ones also I saved.
But when I start to build the epub in the first option windows at the point TOC style navigation there are still the old three templates to select. I'm not able to choose the new ones.
Now I deleted in every dokument file the three old TOC styles by using the usual TOC tool. But in the epub-generator these templates are still there. With the result: the epub toc wich will be generated is wrong.
    Where are these templates stored?
    I use ID CC 2014.
    Thanks

    Hi Anshul,
Thanks for your help. I export to epub 2.01 reflowable.
For dokuments that might be so. But I do it with books and I deleted the TOC styles in ALL documents but it was still there in the list. Also I created a new book with all new dokuments, generates on TOC style in the first document and in the export option list there were the Default style only. It is not to figure out, where ID ist looking for that?
    Cheers

  • Odd id tags in exported EPUB

I've just exported an EPUB from InDesign CC 2014, and I've noticed some odd id tags scattered throughout the text at apparently random locations (in between words, etc) -- there is also one right at the beginning of the HTML content. They look like <a id="x.16448"/> (that is the first one) and the five-digit number always has 16 in the beginning, but increases in increments of about 3-9 as I move through the book.
The print edition of this title had an index, but I've deleted all the index reference tags already. I don't think it's related to the TOC either. Any ideas? I can regex them out easily but I'm just curious.
    Thanks

I went back and turned on Hidden Characters and there are two dots there (like a colon). I've seen this mentioned elsewhere on these forums in a discussion about TOC hyperlink errors on EPUB export:
toc hyperlinks that don't have target text anchor information
So I guess they are unused hyperlink destinations, and they can be deleted in ID. But I'm not sure I understand how they ended up in my text.

  • Exporting EPUB from InDesign CC not including line breaks

I am done with a book and have it formatted the way I want. I am exporting it to EPUB through InDesign CC and previewing it in iBooks and also through Kindle previewer. Everything is fine except for one thing... where I have created page breaks, the exported file is not including them.
I tried exporting to HTML just to see what it did and there is no line breaks there. I know its proprietary markup ( in kindle ) but I still would like to include them in a few specific places ( to mark seperations of chapters ).
In kindle this is the tag they say to use: <mbp:pagebreak />
In iBooks, I have not yet figured out how to create them, I am going to work on that today once I sort out the kindle version.
Is there any way to force it to include line breaks on export. Or alternatively, I could export to HTML but I am having trouble figuring out how to go back to the EPUB format from there and also it didn't include the fonts, so there was other issues to consider as I have a custom font I was using for the headers that looks really good and matches the font on the book cover as well... so I really want to keep that consistent if possible.
Are there any tricks or things I can try here to improve on my workflow and do a better job of seperating the chapters ?

Ok, I hadn't tested the advanced options out in the export menu. It works and does so on both the iBooks and Kindle previewer.. which is good news since that is really important to me to try and find a workflow I can update both of these formats from when I continue to work on my book.
The only strange part is that on some chapters its adding an extra blank page between the chapter and the next. What is odd is that it only happens on some of them (in the iBook reader only, the kindle previewer isn't doing this)
I am going to look into this more closely but its not a major deal as I would prefer a little seperation in the chapters anyways, its not really a bad thing. It is just hard to figure out why its doing this.

  • "Manually" creating U3D files to import into Acrobat XI

Has anyone here ever successfully tried to "manually" create a U3D file and open it in a Acrobat XI to save it as a PDF file?
I am currently coding an U3D export filter for our self-developed CAD application. The resulting files (containing simple polygon meshes) can be opened and displayed by a commercial U3D viewer (SAP Visual Enterprise Viewer 7.0), but Acrobat X and Acrobat XI cannot open them. They only display useless standard "Unable to open" message.
Sample U3D files from the web open correctly in Acrobat XI although I fail to see any relevant difference when comparing them to the files my filter creates.
Our U3D files only feature a default view and a few, simple polygon meshes created using CLOD Mesh Declaration and CLOS Base Mesh Continuation. Everything is correctly contained in modifier chains. The file does not use compression.
I checked the "U3D Supported Elements" documents from Adobe and I'm sure to have met all conditions therein.
Any help or tip would be very much appreciated because I am out of ideas what to try...
    Best regards
    Stefan Malz

For an illustration of my problem, here is a most simple file that I created:
    http://www.cad6.com/archive/Merge1.u3d
This file opens correctly in SAP Visual Enterprise Viewer 7.0, but not in Acrobat XI Pro. A similiar file destilled from a sample file found on the web, however, works:
    http://www.cad6.com/archive/Merge2.u3d
The only difference I can see is that is uses compression and a CLOD Progressive Mesh Continuation instead of a CLOD Base Mesh Continuation. But according to the latest version of "U3D Supported Elements", this should not make any difference.
Any idea why Merge1.u3d does not open? Please?!
    Best regards

  • SaveForWeb file size difference of scripted versus manually created

I've got a VB script that uses Save For Web to make thumbnail images from a folder of larger images.  Most perplexing is the file size difference of these thumbnails using the script versus making them one by one manually.
The thumbnails are 180x120 pixels.  Using Save for Web from the file menu to manually create jpegs (50 quality, optimized, no profile, no progressive) the typical resultant file sizes are 9 to 14 KB.  Using the script, the file sizes end up from 20KB to 30KB!  Additionally, if the original file has any metadata (caption, contact info, copyright, etc) the manual process strips all the metadata out except the copyright notice, which is fine.  Using the script however, all metadata remains intact!!
Can anyone explain why this is occurring?  I'd sure like the smallest file size possible.  Am I missing a parameter in the ExportSaveForWeb options?
Here's this save section of the code:
         Dim sfwOptions As New ExportOptionsSaveForWeb
         sfwOptions.Format = psJPEGSave
         sfwOptions.Quality = 50
         sfwOptions.Optimized = True
         sfwOptions.IncludeProfile = False
         SaveFile = OutputFolder & ImageNumber & ".jpg"
         docRef.Export SaveFile, PsExportType.psSaveForWeb, sfwOptions
Thanks in advance for any insights and guidance.
(BTW, I get a similar file size disparity with javascript too although they end up a tad smaller than the VB script, go figure...)
    Tom
PS - The VB Scripting Guide has the wrong name for the Export Document method.  It is not "ExportDocument" but rather, simply "Export".  Hopefully this tip will save someone hours and hours of frustration and confusion ;-)

Eureka, I found the issue!  Now pass the ********...
In the options in the Save for Web window (the two small gray arrows next to the Preset drop down list), on one of the panels there is a checkbox to Preserve Metadata.  This was unchecked.  Apparently, it was not seen as unchecked when running the script yet behaved accordingly when I did a manual save.  Checking this box and clicking apply, run a manual save, then unchecking the box and clicking apply appeared to "reset" it to not save metadata (other than copyright info) either when saving manually or then using the script.
    Case closed.

    Hi all
I've created a custom map to export a custom table to excel, which works. Then tried to create a macro to do this export for me and it was stopped on the 'File; Save As' part of the export (almost the very beginning)
Looking for suggestions for best practises or anything to watch out for when creating a macro to export (or any help in general in this area...books, etc)
Using MSP 2010 (Pro)...we have server but I was attempting this as a stand-alone project

Firstly make sure you have SP2 installed. Then try recording a macro of you manually saving to Excel with a pre-saved map. Compare the recorded code and your code.

  • Effect of manually created proposal on MRP Run

if there is any proposal which might have been created by the user manually & not via MRP run, does it have effect on the results of MRP.
will the system ignores the requirement as it has been covered already via manually created proposal.

    Dear Geetika,
if there is any proposal which might have been created by the user manually & not via MRP run,
does it have effect on the results of MRP.
Yes definitely it have effect on MRP
MRP checks All Firmed Receipts & creates procurement proposals
will the system ignores the requirement as it has been covered already via manually created proposal.
Say for example demand is there for material as 50 PCS
Now manually user created Production order for that 50 pcs
Now if run MRP than system will not create any plan order as already Production order consists for 50 pcs
Again we have add demand for the same as for another 50 pcs
so now total demand became for that material is 100pcs
Now Run MRP system will create plan order for 50 pcs
As we have already 50 pcs of production order which is created manually
    Hope the above clarifies

  • Manual created PO not showing up in the shopping cart for non-catalog scena

In non-catalog scenario within SRM, the shopping cart shows the purchase requisition and not the manual created PO after
running the program BBP_GET_STATUS_2. Do I need to run the program CLEAN_REQREQ_UP to retrieve the manual created PO on ECC 6.0 after BBP_GET_STATUS_2? What is the selection criteria for both of these programs?
    Thanks
    Chris Htizke

    Hi,
I'm not clear you issue. Is it SC -> PR(backend) -> PO(backend) classic scenario ? or You just created a PO in backend system?
BBP_GET_STATUS_2 will update SC follow-on doc information from backend.

  • [AS] How to create an anchored rectangle in CS3 ?

    Hi all,
I'm unable to create an anchored rectangle in CS3 using AppleScript.
    I tried this:
tell insertion point 1 of text frame 1
    make rectangle with properties {stroke weight:0, geometric bounds:{0, 0, 20, 20}}
    end tell
    Any help?

    Hi Harbs,
As far as I can tell, recompose is still necessary. It's true that you'll usually get good bounds from the rectangle after creating it, but I want to stress the word "usually." I've seen bad bounds in some cases in CS5, so I'm not ready to declare that we can omit the recompose just yet.
    Thanks,
