Mapping wsdl - custom vs generic

Would there ever be a difference in the custom and generic mapping wsdl files?
Thanks!
-Kevin

Hi, It depends on the kind of application you develop. If you are developing something that dumps all the data from OnDemand using WS or building some app that can work across multiple instances, it is better to use generic wsdl otherwise custom is good. The problem with generic is it contains whole lot of fields and any integration tag changes for custom created fields would not be reflected in custom wsdl so it is going to be time confusion and tough to manage using generic WSDL. If the application is simple it may not worth to handle that complexity. Hope it helps

  • How to map a custom enum list to a custom form property in an extended incident class

    Hi,
    I'm struggeling to understand how to map a custom enum list to a custom form property in an extended incident class.
    Here's what i want to have happen:
    I am going to publish a request offering on my SMPortal for allowing users to submit basic IT incidents. I want the form to include "Whom does this problem affect" (answers(This is the custom enum list): Me, Multiple Users, Whole department or Whole
    company), "What is the problem about", "Description" and "Attachments".
    Here's what i've done:
    In the authoring tool i created a MP for the custom enum list and put only the list in it. I sealed the MP and imported it.
    I created another unsealed MP called TST.Incident.Library for storing incident library customizations and extended the incident class to add an extension class i called ClassExtension_Affected scope with a custom property i called AffectedScope. Then i am trying
    to set the datatype of this property to "list". In the "select a list" dialog i cannot chose my previously sealed MP with the custom enum list in it. Why?
    - Do i need to scratch the sealed MP and put the custom enum list in the latter TST.Incident.Library MP instead?
    - If so, can i do that and keep this MP unsealed, or will i get an error on import saying "Unsealed management packs should not contain type definitions"
    - Should i create one sealed MP for both the custom enum list and the extension class + custom property?

    Hi,
    Authoring Tool simply isn't informed about your list. Open the sealed management pack where you define the root of the list in the Authoring Tool and in the same time open TST.Incident.Library. You will have two opened MPs in the Authoring
    Tool and be able to add a custom list for your custom field.
    Cheers,
    Marat

    Hi ya,
    Could any body tell me the difference between the customer and Generic extractions.what are the extraction steps?
    Regards.

    Hi,
    In Generic extraction we have to fetch the data from table/view/funtion module.T.code RSO2.
    Replicate the data source in bw and send into data target through ods(recommandable).
    In customized extraction sap provided LIS,LO-COCKPIT,CO-PA,FI-SL etc,in these sap provides extract stuructures.From the extract structures we have to fetch the data and replicate the data into bw and push into the data targets.

    I have following scenario.
    Suppose there are 2 different RFC like
    1.  RFC A (Async)
    2.  RFC B
    And I have one WSDL (Web Service)
    Now flow of scenario is as following
    Step 1: RFC A will send request to WSDL (Web Service)
               need to map RFC A request to WSDL request.
    Step 2: WSDL response to RFC B
               how can I map WSDL response to different RFC?
    Can we map response of WSDL to different RFC? If yes please let me know the steps.

    Have your communication as Asynchronous....
    create your scenario as:
    Scenario 1) RFC A ---> XI --> WSDL
    Scenario 2)
    WSDL --> XI (Mapping to RFC 1) --> SAP
    WSDL --> (XI Mapping to RFC 2) --> SAP
    In scenario 2 you will need:
    1) Two MI...each based on the individual RFCs (RFC 1, 2)
    2) Two mapping programs
    In ID
    1) One Sender Agreement
    2) two receiver agreements
    3) two interface determinations
    4) in receiver determination check for some field which needs to be send to the RFC...this will imply that only a particular wsdl response is mapped to the RFCs (RFC1, 2)...here you can correlate using some value

  • Oracle OnDemand Generic WSDL Custom Element

    Hi,
      I have added a new field to the Activity object.
    I am trying to set value and get values for this newly created field using web service 2.0.
    If I download the Custom WSDL, I could see the tag name of the newly created field. But this does not appear in the Generic WSDL 2.0.
    Your document says,
    "For Generic WSDL files, custom fields are based on generic XML
    tags: CustomNumber0, CustomCurrency0, and so on. Using these placeholders, together with
    the Mapping Service or Field Management API allows applications to map the generic XML tags
    to the field names that your company uses."
    But it is not clear and I am unable to map the newly created fields using the mapping service.
    Could you please help me on this?
    Thanks,
    Baskar.S

    Hi, Would suggest custom, unless you like to build something that is generic which can work across multiple instances of CRMOD or goes across all fields / objects etc. Otherwise it may not worth the effort of managing the integration tags mapping related activities

  • WSDL, custom datatypes, fault element name issues

    Hello all,
    I am having a LOT of problems with BEAs webservices. I am posting
    this here in the hope that someone can help me and tell me what I am
    doing incorrectly. I am running
    WebLogic Server 7.0 SP1 Mon Sep 9 22:46:58 PDT 2002 206753
    WebLogic XMLX Module 7.0 SP1 Mon Sep 9 22:54:41 PDT 2002 206753
    Background:
    My goal is to make my company's product web services aware. I take an
    EJB, try to run it through the standard ant tasks and generate a web
    services accessible EJB. Sounds pretty easy, but complex types seem
    to make this quite difficult.
    I have been able to create a web service accessible EJB (only since
    7.0.1), but I am quite unhappy with the quality of what I am able to
    produce.
    I have a datatype which acts as a key, but it does not follow the
    javabeans idiom - i.e. it does not have a default constructor or
    accessor methods and I am not in the position to change it. I have
    created a codec for this class which works and an xml schema (both by
    hand). Its name is AgentKey. I have also had to use the autotyper to
    create codecs and typemapping entries for java.util.Properties,
    I can connect using the WebLogic classes and I am now trying to
    interact using MS Excel and Apache's Axis as my test clients.
    Issues:
    My first question deals with generating a client. There seem to be
    two ways to generate a client. Firstly via the <client> subtask of
    <servicegen><service>, the second way via <clientgen> task. Since I
    am using a custom data type (AgentKey) I have to manually insert the
    AgentKey schema into the web-services.xml file generated by
    servicegen. When I try to generate a client via the
    servicegen/service/client task there is no opportunity for me to
    insert this datatype schema information and I therefore get the
    following messages (lots of them, but I'm only including one):
    [servicegen] WARNINIG: Unable to find a javaType for the xmlType:['java:net.agentis.apml.runtime']:AgentKey.
    Make sure that you have registered this xml type in the type mapping
    [servicegen] Using SOAPElement instead
    BTW: I am also receiving the same problem with java.util.Properties.
    BTW: WARNING is misspelt
    If I attempt to generate a client class via the <clientgen> task, I
    need to supply either a wsdl or ear file as a parameter. I cannot
    supply a wsdl file because I haven't deployed the EAR yet (and I don't
    want to until the EAR has the client classes in it), and I can't
    supply the EAR because I want the ear to include the client classes.
    It is a bit of a catch 22 situation. Is there a solution I can't see?
    NOTE: it would be very, very nice if you added a schemaMapping
    attribute to the <servicegen/service> task so the web-services.xml
    file didn't have to be manually hacked. Something similar to the
    typemapping attribute already in the servicegen/service task would do
    it.
    My next problem deals with the validity of the WSDL. I am seeing that
    the WSDL created has exceptions defined multiple times. I saw a
    message from Manjo saying that it looked like a bug. I agree and
    would like to get a copy of the patch. On a more significant note,
    when is either SP2 or 7.1 due for release?
    Another problem with the WSDL (once you have cleansed the multiple
    exception messages) is that the fault elements of the
    binding/operation elements require names and they don't have any. For
    example, this is straight from the deployed EJB WSDL file:
    <binding name="ExampleAgentPortSoapBinding" type="tns:ExampleAgentPort">
    <soap:binding style="rpc" transport="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/http"/>
    <operation name="serviceWithPrimitiveDatatypes">
    <soap:operation soapAction="" style="rpc"/>
    <input>
    <soap:body use="encoded" namespace="http://sillyurl.com/reallysilly"
    encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"/>
    </input>
    <output>
    <soap:body use="encoded" namespace="http://sillyurl.com/reallysilly"
    encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"/>
    </output>
    <fault>
    <soap:body use="encoded" namespace="http://sillyurl.com/reallysilly"
    encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"/>
    </fault>
    </operation>
    <operation ...
    The schema definition at http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/ says the
    fault element require a name attribute:
    <complexType name =" tBindingOperationFault">
    <complexContent>
    <extension base="wsdl:tExtensibleDocumented">
    <attribute name="name" type="NCName" use="required"/>
    </extension>
    </complexContent>
    </complexType>
    The name of the fault should be the same name as the fault in the
    portType definition. In my example the name is "AgentisException" as
    evidenced by this snippet:
    <portType name="ExampleAgentPort">
    <operation name="serviceWithPrimitiveDatatypes">
    <input message="tns:serviceWithPrimitiveDatatypes"/>
    <output message="tns:serviceWithPrimitiveDatatypesResponse"/>
    <fault name="AgentisException" message="tns:AgentisException"/>
    </operation>
    Once these changes have been made then the WSDL will validate. Are
    there plans to fix these bugs?
    On a different note, when I try to interact with a method that uses a
    custom data type, such as AgentKey, via the "WebLogic Webservice
    standard testing home page" the custom data type without a default
    constructor cannot be rendered correctly. For instance, the AgentKey
    value is:
    <!-- Do not know how to create a sample instance for this part due to the following
    exception:java.lang.InstantiationException: net.agentis.apml.runtime.AgentKey.
    Pls replace this with the correct XML before invoking the service. --->
    <agentKey/>
    Since I can't deploy a valid WSDL, I can't get either Axis or Excel to
    connect to my web services.
    When I attempt to invoke Axis' (beta 1.1) wsdl2java I recieve the
    following message.
    java.io.IOException: ERROR: Fault is missing a name= attribute in operation
    "serviceWithPrimitiveDatatypes", in binding {http://sillyurl.com/reallysilly}ExampleAgentPortSoapBinding.
    This seems understandable considering the issues I mentioned earlier.
    Unfortunately Excel doesn't really give me anything to go with. If I
    type in the WSDL URI then it will give me a list of methods I can
    invoke, but if I try to add the service I get the very unhelpful "The
    Web Service References Tool could not generate the requested code.
    Any changes that were made to your project have been rolled back."
    Any help with those two issues would be greatly appreciated also.
    One final issue is that I cannot seem to fix is taskdef'ing
    <servicegen> properly from Ant. I can do the actual taskdef but then
    it cannot find classes from within the weblogic.jar. If I run the
    setExamplesEnv.cmd first the I don't need to do the taskdef and
    everything works fine. Has anyone else had this issue? (we can't run
    that command on our clients desktops before we build our build scripts
    - anyway, I've put it down to one of those weird Ant classpath
    issues.)
    In summary:
    Problems I can see and would like some help on are:
    - multiple exception messages
    - fault operations with no name
    - the ability to generate client code with complex data types before
    the EAR is deployed.
    Could the product team add
    - a clean way to add in schema datatypes without having to manually
    hack the web-services.xml file.
    I know this has been quite a long email, but it has been months in the
    making. Anyone's time would be greatly appreciated.

    your issues.
    Concerning the upcoming release, I believe it is scheduled for late this quarter; contact Michael

    Also, at the bottom of this post:
    I would just like to see an automated way to do this (I've had to write my own

    Hiya Bruce,
    I will try and get some time to follow this up with the support people too.
    In response:
    Problems I can see and would like some help on are:
    - multiple exception messages
    In your client code, you can set the following property to avoid the exceptionmessages so that the typemapping
    registry can be setup.
    //dont parse wsdl till we set the typemapping
    System.setProperty( "weblogic.webservice.servicenamechecking","false" );
    This is not a client issue. The WSDL is generating incorrect WSDL. Here is a
    little snippet :
    <message name="AgentisException" >
    <part name="AgentisException" xmlns:partns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    type="partns:string" />
    </message>

    <part name="AgentisException" xmlns:partns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    type="partns:string" />
    </message>
    As you can see the AgentisException is defined twice (in my real WSDL it is redefined
    every time a method has the AgentisException in its interface (which in my case
    is 5 times))
    - fault operations with no nameI believe the fault issues that you have raised have been addressed in the upcomingrelease that will be
    available for beta testing shortly. Contact [email protected] if you
    want to participate in the beta.
    great. Is there any ETA on the final release date?
    - the ability to generate client code with complex data types before
    the EAR is deployed.
    There is an example to show how to do this: http://dev2dev.bea.com/direct/webservice/dyncmplx.zip
    Unfortunately this doesn't solve my problem. I still don't have an EAR or WSDL
    file from which I can generate a client to be included in the final EAR file that
    gets deployed to the server. My original post explains this a bit better.
    Could the product team add
    - a clean way to add in schema datatypes without having to manually
    hack the web-services.xml file.
    Take a look at http://dev2dev.bea.com/direct/webservice/wswa.html#qz50 and others
    in this area.
    This was more in reference to the building of the web services in the first place
    rather than registering custom datatypes at runtime. The manual procedure is
    documented at http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs70/webserv/customdata.html#1058102,
    I would just like to see an automated way to do this (I've had to write my own

  • Problem with role mapping in custom login module

    Hi all,
    I have developed custom login modules. They don't use the default user store but own data tables holding the necessary user information.
    Login works fine. But there is one big problem: Only those users that exist with the same user-id in the default user store get roles assigned to it. Whicht leads to 403-errors in my web application.
    Now, this is weired because a user with id 'Susi' has completely different passwords in my custom tables and in the user store, therefore it shouldn't be possible to authenticate 'Susi' against the default user management.
    Next thing is, I don't use the default login modules at all. So why does the application validates against the user store?
    I thought a source of the  problem might be that I don't set the roles correctly. I set the roles as a principal to the subject. I have chosen the role based mapping  in the web-engine.xml and mapped all my custom roles to the server role 'guests'.
    Could anybody think of a solution to this problem ?
    Thanks,  Astrid

    Astrid,
    Sorry to go off-topic on your post...but I have a question in relation to how you deploy your login module. Do you deploy the login module with your application ? I've developed a login module that I would like to deploy by itself, I currently deploy it with the calculator example and it works fine like this, but I need to deploy it by itself. Any tips you can give would be greatly appreciated.
    I've tried to use the deploytool and deploy the module as a library...but I get a "cannot  load a login module" in the logs when authenticating a user.

  • Re map wsdl file

    Hi to all!
    I am a newbie to Web Services and I was trying to resolve the following thing:
    I am trying to expose as a WS a Java method which returns an array of strings. In the wsdl file this return is mapped like this:
    *<sequence>*
    *<element name="return" type="string" nillable="true" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>*
    *</sequence>*
    The problem is that I want to map every element of the array as a separate element. For example let say the array contains personal data, like Name, Surname, Birthplace, Social ID etc, I would like the WSDL file to be smth like the following:
    *<sequence>*
    *<element name="Firstname" type="string" nillable="true"/>*
    *<element name="Lastname" type="string" nillable="true"/>*
    *<element name="Birthplace" type="string" nillable="true"/>*

    Can someone help me how to accomplish that.

    Hi,
    You can run the adgendbc.sh script to recreate the DBC files -- See (Troubleshooting Login [ID 178437.1]) for details.
    However, I would suggest you run AutoConfig and it should recreate the DBC files for you. If you get any errors when running AutoConfig please post the error here.

    create a data type for a xml that is

    create a java or abap mapping which will remove the

    Hi ,

    I am sending response in QueryCustomerPartyREsponseEBM from provider to EBS to requester.
    When i map the response of invoke (that invokes ESB) in the requeter to the Response ABM and execute, all the customer fields from the EBM are getting mapped to ABM, but the non-customer fields are not getting mapped.
    When i put an assign activity after invoke and tried to retrieve these values from Response EBM, an error came up saying that the field is empty.

    You have to perform a new crawl of the user profiles in order to get values in the properties. So you have new user profile properties which are getting corresponding crawled properties called People:PropertyName, and you have mapped these to two managed

  • Mapping WSDL file to a URL

    Hi,
    I have successfully deployed the webservice examples included with S1AS7. I would now like to test the interoperability with .NET clients but I have noticed that I have no way of accessing the wsdl file through a URL such as : http://localhost/jaxrpc-simple/HelloWorld?wsdl
    The wsdl file exists because I have used the -keep option with xrpcc.
    I have even tried placing it in the WEB-INF folder but it doesn't seem to work.
    How can I map the wsdl to a URL and is there a way of not having to do it manually each time.
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi Thomas,
    I was expecting http://localhost/jaxrpc-simple/HelloWorld?wsdl for generating the wsdl file too.
    In order to work with .NET, I did the following
    1. create wsdl file using -keep option
    2. run wsdl command to generate webservice a proxy classe
    c:\> wsdl HelloWorld.wsdl
    This will create HelloWorldService.cs. You can review the source code and change URL if you need to.
    HellowWorldService ws = new HelloWorldService();
    ws.Url = ... // set to your webservice url
    or optionally you can deploy wsdl file in war file (i.e. copy HelloWorld.wsdl to your root context)
    index.html
    HelloWorld.wsdl
    WEB-INF/web.xml
    etc.
    Assuming the context name is jaxrpc-simple
    c:\> wsdl http://localhost/jaxrpc-simple/HelloWorld.wsdl
    But you still have to manually update the server information in wsdl file. I prefer ?wsdl approach (like WebLogic or Apache AXIS). I hope SUN remedy this problem.
