Maps on Nokia 6720

To be able to use maps I bought a 8GB microSd card.
When I put it in the phone everything is OK. When I check I OVI-suite I have lot of space > 6.5 GB.
When I start up Maploader, it says there is only 100MB ffree or extra maps.
Does anyone know how this is possible?
How can I correct this, at this time only The netherlands is pre-installed and i would like to usother european countries?
(I checked: settings indicate that 70% of card may be used for maps)

I think your NOkia Maps is set to use phone memory rather than your memory card. To change thi, do as follows.
When in Nokia Maps, goto Options>Tools>Settings>Map>Memory to be used. Set this to memory card.

  • Nokia 6720 - Memorycard is full.

    Hi.
I have had the same phone model befor with a older version of "ovi maps", which worked perfectly. But it got stolen.
Now i just bought a new Nokia 6720. And a new memorycard (8 GB).
Everything works exept when i try to download maps to the phone. Then i get the "Not Enough Memory for Update/Memorycard is full". And it tells me to clear some space on the phone. The map im trying to download is 110 MB (cant even load a 2 Mb mapvoice) and i have 7,6 gb free space. Tryed diffrent maps a few times but still no luck.
So i thought that i needed to format the new memorycard. And did so. Everything work still as befor, exept the maps. It still doesnt work. Still says that the memorycard is full....
Some help in this would be great.. I whant my maps
This info is seen in OVI about the device:
    Nokia 6720
    Version: 031.022 (newest)
Device memory: 53.5 MB Free of 67.2 MB
Memorycard: 7.59 GB Free of  7.60 GB

Can you see the memory card using application manager? Did you format the memory card on the phone? There is a possibility the card is faulty.
The other possibility is the directory structure has not been set up on the memory card for Nokia Maps. If this is the case, you need to start Nokia Maps application once to create the folder structure and then try downloading the map data again.

  • Ovi maps and Nokia Maps

I have recently downloaded the ovi maps update for free navigation on my 5800 however now I seem to have 2 programs in my installed apps menu, Ovi maps and Nokia maps. This is causing me some problems as my phones built in memory is now completely full and I am unable to do some things as I have ran out of on phone memory space. Which one is the main map software? And also can I uninstall one? If not then can it be installed on a MSD card and if yes how?

As far as I can determine Ovi maps is the mapping software (program) which installs to C (phone memory) and Nokia maps is the map data that you have loaded which I believe are installed to E (mass memory).
I can confirm that you do need both installed.
The problem as far as I can see is that the previous maps versions 3.01 is built into the current firmware (v20 for N97 - not sure for 5800) and installing maps 3.03 does not remove or overwrite the earlier version so you end up with both versions installed and thus the extra memory footprint.
This will remain a problem until a newer firmware is released which will hopefully have maps 3.03 (or later depending when next firmware is released) thus reducing the extra 9 megs or so used.
    Hope this answers your question

  • NOKIA 6720 bug

Hi all, I use nokia 6720 and I found that when the battery is low and show massage 'low battery'. Then it go to power saving mode and this saving mode was canceled when I plug charger. However, the problem is when battery was charged fully, the power saving mode automatically work again. How do you think? Is this program bug or hardware problem?
    Thanks.

I really hope someone will answer your question because I have just aquired a brand new 6720 as a replacement for my not very old, previous Nokia phone and am having the same problem. I basically can't see anything.

  • Updating country and regional maps with Nokia Suit...

    Hi Folks
I am an E72 owner and a frequent user of Nokia Maps. Hence I use Nokia Suite to keep the map data up to date, time to time.
I normally download all countries by right-clicking the ALL item and choosing 'download all'. I thought I could download all available maps this way. But when all downloads are finished, I still can see some regional maps are NOT downloaded as the 'download' button is available for the regions.
Initially, I thought the regional maps of a country were NOT necessary if their country map has been downloaded simply because the country map should cover its all regions (comparing the map size of a country and its regions, and the regional maps were not automatically downloaded by default)
But it seems not that ture, at least for the latest map data v0.1.29.100.
As shown in the attached screenshot, for some countries, e.g.China, France, India, Italy, Spain and USA, some regional maps were automatically downloaded though most regional maps remain undownloaded (the 'download' button is available).
Why? Only those regional maps have been updated?
Do I really need to download ALL regional maps to keep all data up to date?
    FYI

Thanks so much for effort farby and scoobyman.
It is interesting that the World Maps of scoobyman's E52 does not show any regional maps of China. The regional map of Heilongjiang will not appear in scoobyman's Nokia Suite, as there is no triangle symbol before 'China' indicating no regional maps for China at all. That definitely looks like the same thing that I saw on my E72 before updating to 00.01.29.100 map data.
First, scoobyman 's post has created confusion as he has not checked the same way as OP has done. He has checked selecting Maps and Voice Guidance on Phone at the bottom and not by selecting All under Maps at the top. If you see both attachments posted by me you can see the difference how they are displayed.
    bbao wrote:
Yes, farby's India map with Nokia 5800xm seems having totally different map data. e.g. India map: 532 MB vs 372 MB, and Delhi map: 51 MB vs 33.7 MB.
BTW, it notice that you both are using a new version of Nokia Suite 3.8.13 Beta. Not sure if it could make any difference.
Whether Maps version is same or different is not the point. Even if the Maps version is different in both the cases it is being displayed the SAME way as OP ..only difference being the sizes of the data files ...

  • Ovi Maps and Nokia Maps - do I need both?

I am sure this question has been asked already but I cannot find it having spent some time doing a search.
The question is do I need both or can I dispense with one? If so, with what consequences?
The position is that I tried to update Ovi maps but couldn't because there was insufficient space on drive C, so I thought I would delete it and then I would be able to install the new version. Unfortunately wrong again - still insufficient space on drive C. Hence my question - do I need both maps? Life would be easier just with Nokia maps in the circumstances.

Thanks. Can I take it that Nokia Maps is pre-installed? Would I be correct in concluding that I can delete Ovi Maps to save space and just update Nokia Maps from time to time?
If Nokia Maps is not updated from time to time I would need to install Ovi Maps to keep up-to-date?
I have I think deleted Ovi Maps but I still have Maps. In fact I am fairly certain I have all the maps I downloaded from OVi Maps. When I run Maps the screen refers to "Ovi Maps". Perhaps I haven't uninstalled Ovi Maps at all although the programme said that I had! Perhaps it is Ovi Maps that is pre-installed.
Sorry but I remain confused and hope I can through this tread clear it up once and for all.

  • Solution for google map in Nokia C7 & C6-01

    I have Nokia C7 & C6-01. I installed Google Maps on my C7 & C6-01 with Belle. But I found a solution.
Latest Version of Google map (V. 4.1.1) works fine with belle, you need to just turn on your wifi for it. Then it will work

If considering re-installing existing device software via Nokia Suite, I might suggest that after backing up essential data you reset your C6-00 to factory settings, so that Nokia Maps sets itself up from scratch and ensures that Assisted GPS positioning method establishes it's network access point.

  • ViewRanger maps on Nokia 6210 Navigator

I've just installed ViewRanger maps of all the United Kingdom National Parks onto my N6210 Navigator for less than £25. Incredibly good value for walking and cycling holidays. I bought the electronic dowload; perhaps not wise with a slow broadband like mine and sure enough I had trouble downloading the 456 Mb file.  Email communication with ViewRanger's Cambridge office was prompt, friendly and efficient and they offered me a CD at no extra charge if I continued to have difficulties with the download. However I did manage eventually. After that the clear instructions made installation a breeze. The great thing is that each map can be installed separately as you need them so that your memory card isn't filled with unused maps . I'm lucky enough to live in a National Park so I could try a map straight away. It's just like having an Ordnance Survey map on your phone, with a circle around where you are standing that moves as you walk.
I don't suppose it will be be as good as a hiker's sat nav such as garmin, but used with a conventional map and compass as a backup to check your position makes this app fantastic value. Highly recommended!

I use Viewranger for offroad walking and have found it the best offroad satnav for smartphones – equivalent to a dedicated offroad satnav. The only problem I have had with it is the complexity of the user interface and the multiple menu system that is utilised. This can lead to long minutes trying to find the correct menu item and has caused a hang or two. For urban walking I use Garmin on my phone and when driving a TomTom satnav. I have found Nokia(Ovi) maps  too costly, and so for back up navigation use googlemaps although this can rapidly use my monthly data allowance. So, yes I agree Viewranger is surprisingly good.
