Marking emails as read on BB, not reflected in Outlook

We use OWA for our BB's, and whilst (however annoying it is) we have accepted that the BB won't realise that you have read an email in Outlook (2003 / 2007), is there a way to ensure that when an email has been marked as unread on the BB, that is also DOES the same in Outlook?
Third party app maybe?

Hi!
Like BIS, OWA and Outlook are conduits -- what is the actual server? Is it Exchange? What version?
If you have Exchange and OWA and your OWA reflects the read/unread status, then BIS indeed recognizes and synchronizes those. See this article concerning reconciliation features of BIS with various email servers.
http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB05133&slic...
You also must wait for the BIS reconciliation cycle. It will not be instant. While I can't recall it documented, something like 15 minute intervals are what my brain is trying to tell me...but that's not a guarantee.
Oh, and you must have, on the BB, OTA reconciliation turned on.
Those are my thoughts...but it sounds like you have a configuation problem rather than needing a 3rd party app.

  • Change in Quota at Exchange Server does not reflect in Outlook

I have changed the quota for a database on the exchange server from the default 2 GB to Unlimited and even restarted the information store service. The user is able to receive emails and send them as well. However in Outlook the message still persists that
users quota is 2 GB. Have restarted Outlook several times. Can anyone shed some light why this may be happenning. Also what is the default interval in which the information displayed by Outlok changes after a change at the exchange server?

    Hi RonMen,
The change of mailbox quota will not reflect in outlook immediately,  the update occur every 30 minutes by default.
Updates can be triggered either manually by the user or automatically.
The following user actions will request the server to update the properties :
    1. Emptying Deleted Items
    2. Emptying a Folder (via the button in the ribbon’s folder tab or right-click on folder)
    3. Permanently deleting (shift-delete) an item
    4. Closing the Archive / AutoArchive dialogs

  • Message filter to mark email as read does not work.

I have set up a message rule to first mark the message read and then move to a folder. Thunderbird moves the message to the correct folder, but it is still marked as unread. I'm using Thunderbird for Windows and I'm using Windows 7. Also, Thunderbird is up to date. Thanks.

    I have the same issue!!!
    Exchange 2010 SP3 fully patched.
If I read emails one by one, they show up as read on webmail/outlook. But if I use the Edit -> Mark All -> Mark as Read it will still show as unread in webmail/outlook
I wonder if the IOS command that is used to mark all as read is not compatible to Exchange?

  • My ipad mini marks emails as read and groups emails together

    Hi -
Happy New Year to you all!
I have just bought an Ipad Mini 2 which I love, however I have an issue which hopefully can be solved.
On my iPhone, I can open my emails, email by email and actually have to click on an email for it to be displayed and marked as read.
On my ipad, it previews the emails to the right of the screen and marks the email as read...
Can this be altered as I risk not seeing an email with it not being unread.
Also, when I click on an email, it groups all emails together with the same subject, i.e. subject title 'Hi' will group all 'Hi's' together.
Is there a way of switching this off also?
Thank you for all of your help.

Turn off "Organise by Thread" (on the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" page of the Settings app,) to prevent this.

  • IPad doesn't mark email as 'read'

    Hi,
So, I have 3 devices on which I can read my emails: A Macbook Pro, mid-2010 15", an iPhone 5s and a iPad 2.
When I receive emails on my macbook, there are some rules that filter out the spam emails. The rest I read and save to icloud folders or delete.
But, when having done this on my macbook and returning to my iPad, the iPad still sees every email as 'new'.
That and a break from using my ipad has now caused my ipad mail having around 500 emails... But all of those emails have been read and handled on my mac.
My iphone only has the icloud account configured, but that's working fine. (I have multiple email adresses, from gmail, hotmail and exchange)
How can I get my iPad to sync properly? Because handling all those emails twice is very annoying and time-consuming...
    - Lisa

I'm having the same issue, only with my school email powered by Gmail. I had it working fine as a POP account but wanted to switch to IMAP after Gmail was updated. Now, every time a new message comes in, it stays marked as Unread, regardless of what I try to do. I've marked it as read on the server using Webmail, but still no luck. I then deleted the account and created it again. Now the message shows up as read. So, I sent a test email to see if the problem still persists, and it does. Seems any messages that were unread on the server as of creating the mailbox as well as any new messages subsequent are effected. This is becoming very annoying. On top of that, I can't even delete these messages. I get an error stating:
"The Account path /Users/xxxxxxxx/Library/Mail/[email protected]@imap.gmail.com is not writable. Please chage the Account Directory field in the Account Options tab to a writable directory."
I cannot find any such Options tab inside Apple Mail. Can anyone think or suggest a remedy for this?

  • I don't want to mark emails as read when I have only seen them in preview. How can I do this, so they are only marked as read when actually opened?

every other email client I have used lets me mark a message as read only when I actually double click and read it. and not just when I preview it.

I will, thanks. It looks like I am keener to use your product than you are for me to use it.

  • Remove "Mark All as Read" button with Group Policy from Outlook 2013

Under the Folder tab in Outlook 2013, there is a "Mark All as Read" icon. How can I permanently delete this icon? I remember doing so with Outlook 2003 / 2007 through a Group Policy setting. Not sure how to take care of that with Outlook 2013...I
think I need an ID code? I've tried right-clicking the icon and choosing Customize the Ribbon, but you can't remove the "Mark All as Read" as a single icon, you have to get rid of the entire Folder tab. Thanks!

    Hi,
Yes, we can disable the “Mark All as Read” button in Outlook 2013 by using control IDs. Please follow the steps below to achieve the goal:
    1. Press Windows key + R, type gpedit.msc in the
    Run command and press Enter.
    2. In the Group Policy Management Editor navigation pane, locate
    User Configuration >
Administrative Templates > Microsoft Outlook 2013 > Disable Items in User Interface > Custom
    3. In thedetails pane, double click to open
Disable command bar buttons and menu items.
    4.
    Choose Enabled, and then choose
    Show.
    5. In the Show Contents dialog box, under
Value, enter the control ID for the command that you want to disable. The control ID to disable
“Mark All as Read” button is 1906.
    6. When you have finished entering control IDs, choose
OK, and then choose OK again to exit the
    Disable commands dialog box.
For more information about control IDs, please refer:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179143(v=office.15).aspx
    Hope this helps.
    Best Regards.

  • Iphone not marking emails as read after opening in outlook/gmail

    Hi,
After opening emails in gmail & outlook, they are not marked as read on my iphone 4. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
    Thanks
    Message was edited by: Laurenkath

Check the account settings with Outlook which should reveal how you created and are accessing the account with Outlook.
If you used the Gmail account preset when creating the account with the iPhone's Mail app, the account was created as an IMAP account.

  • Mark emails as read with a click not highlight

    Hi
Does anyone know how to help?  My emails have suddenly started to appear as "read" (by taking off the bold) as soon as I put my cursor on the email. I don't click into the email, just have my cursor on it, and it suddenly takes the bold off.  It just happened, and I can't figure out why.  Really confusing as I'm starting to miss emails - as it looks at a glance like I've read them
    Thanks
    Mark

In mail, you can go to format and select a color that would should show the messsage was read. Select a message read it then click the color for read.  Is this what you are looking to do? Or am I off base?  All the best I sent it before i attached the shot.

  • IPad marking emails as read... Solution?

I recently got an ipad and added my email account, but now while emails are marked as unread ( what it should be like ) they are all marked as read. They remain unread on my iPhone but I want to use the ipad more for email now. Any solutions to this one aside from getting rid of the email on my phone, which I am tempted to do but there's no guarantee that's a solution anyway.
    Thanks

  • Turn off marking email as read?

I'm using Mail 3.5. How do I stop emails being automatically marked as 'READ' once I've scrolled onto it? I want to be able to leave it as 'UNREAD' until i double click on the email so it opens in another window, the same way the Outlook does.
I know I can go and mark the email as unread but this is a hassle and does not solve to problem when I skimming through my emails, picking out which ones to read and respond too.

    Steve Killingback wrote:
That works but it does not allow me to see a preview of the message which would enable me to know if I should read it now or leave it unread until later. Is there a way to do this?
    no, there isn't.

  • Mark email as read

After importing my Exchange email, they all appear as new messages. Is there a way to mark all of the messages as read?

You must set them both up to use IMAP.
The problem may be that your chosen/preferred email provider doesn't offer IMAP.

  • How do you get the indicator that marks emails as "read" to work properly?

Every time a new email comes in it's never marked as unread. The computer is on a wired network in an office where no other Mac users have this problem. The usual diagnostics have been performed and the computer seems normal in all other operations. Any ideas? The office geeks are stumped as well.

There's an option in Mail > Preferences > viewing tab > check "Display unread messages with bold font".
