Mass functions in Life cycle Planning

Hi Experts,
Does anybody know if there is method using which we can create mass like profiles, or atleast carrying out a mass assignment of Phase out profiles, or Like profiles, Phase in Profiles in the Assingments table in Life cycle Planning?
We ahve the following requirements:
1. Assign 1 Phase out profile to some 5000 products, how can we achieve this other than manually assinging in the assignments table.
2. Is there a way to create 100's of Like profiles at one time?
I am looking for first SAP stadard functionality t handle this or other wise develop some custom programs to do it. But I am not sure how much feassible this is.
I really want to know how companies handle these requirements of mass discontinuation using Phase out profiles in DP.
If nothing works out, I think copying products from an excel and pasting it in the assingments table and then assigning one Phase Out profile to these products and repeating this step for 5000 products will be my only option.
Please help.
Roopa

That select block functionality is the stupidest thing I have seen. I initially thought it was similar to 'select all' but it is not. Let's say you have 10 records & you want to select all. Then you select the 1st row and 10th row and if you use 'select block' then all records inbetween will be selected. You can then delete or copy them depending on your need.
The closest thing that I see here in assigning Like & PI/PO profiles is the 'Copy line' functionality. May prove helpful if you want to assign same like or PI/PO profile to many products. Ofcourse, you need to enter the products/characteristics but atleast the task of picking/choosing profiles can be minimized. Try & see how best you can use it in your mass assignment.
Hope this helps.

  • Assignments in Life Cycle Planning

    Hi All,
    1) In the assignment table of LCP, I am unable to upload many products at a time. I have more than 1000 Products to assign the LC profiles, so to upload (copy, paste from an excel), i am confined to at a time 7.
How can I paste atleast 20 or 25 at a time, instead of only 7 rows ?  Is there any setting ? as its a tedious & time-consuming to do 7 each time ?
    2) Also, when i try to 'Assign directly' with a profile for 5 rows, i see my profile there, but it wont automatically shows the periods. So i have to go to each row, and manually select again, to pop up the horizon dates. Why system does not automatically show the periods along with the Profile name ?
    Anyone faced this problem ?
    WIll appreciate for any help..
    thanks
    Venkat

    Hi Venkat,
    1. I don't know any standard tool for mass update here unfortunately. However there is one or two trick that might help you bit:
      a. Change your screen resolution to make the front as small as possible: your screen is going to be bigger
      b. first create dummy lines (create some dummy line, then copy then with "select block" and "copy") it will ensure you are not limited by the grey lines...
Not ideal... the alternative is abap...
    2. If you have already define the right horizon in your profile, don't worry about filling the dates again. In the assignment tab the date are only use to overwrite the profile dates...

  • Does Apple have a software life cycle plan showing support?

    Hi!
Something like http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifeselect and http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifecycle ... I cannot seem to find it. I was told that Mac OS X 10.5.8 is no longer going to be updated?
    Thank you in advance.

The thing that bugs me is not speed, but support. MS still supports XP (SP3) today and a couple more years. Apple seems to dump their softwares fast. :/
Actually, let's look at that, shall we?
XP went out of 'mainstream support' in April 2009. It's currently in 'extended' support for commercial (read: paying) customers. Are you paying Microsoft to support your XP system? Are you paying Apple to support your 10.4 system?
Furthermore, XP was available at retail until June 2008 - just 10 months before mainstream support expired. That's not so great. Even worse is the fact that XP was available to OEMs until October 2010, some 18 months after mainstream support expired. That's a winning combination if ever I heard one.
Yes, XP came out in 2001, so you could argue that it had 7 years of support, but it's not Apple's fault that there was a 6 year gap between XP and Vista, nor that Vista had such a poor uptake.
In fact, if you look at the official policy, Microsoft provide mainstream support for '2 years after the sucessor product is released'. Given that Apple, historically, have released OS updates every 18 months or so (give or take), and that they support the current and previous OS releases, you can see Apple have an 18 month policy while Microsoft has a 2 year policy. Not all that great a difference in the overall scheme of things.

  • What is (sdlc) software developement life cycle management in hyperion esssbase and planning ?

what is (sdlc) software developement life cycle management in hyperion esssbase and planning ?

SDLC is a high-level concept (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Systems_development_life_cycle) not a feature of a particular software package, so I'm really not sure what you're asking.
If you're asking about the somewhat related topic of moving changes through environments, look at About Lifecycle Management.

  • What is the average duration of 1 full SAP life cycle or 1 end-to-end implementation. How long does it take to prepare DEV, QAS and PRD?

What is the average duration of 1 full SAP life cycle or 1 end-to-end implementation. How long does it take to prepare DEV, QAS and PRD in any company?

    Anand,
let me start with saying that the question you ask may not help you to determine the duration of your project. As Ryan and others stated the duration of the project is highly dependent on the scope of the solution you are implementing, geographical scope, amount of modifications/enhancements, number of languages, number of users that need to be trained, amount of standard processes customer is able to re-use in the implementation and many other factors (like quality of implementation contractor you will chose and availability of customer and implementors resources). I can probably go on for another couple lines, but I guess you get the idea.
With that out of the way let's talk about some example implementations that will give you an idea - Ryan did great job outlining what I would call traditional approach above. I have couple examples where customers leveraged innovative deployment strategies that are available today. In particular the project teams leveraged pre-packaged services like RDS, World Template or Best Practices as their baseline solution and they built from there. Second acceleration technique customers now leverage is the deployment in the SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud to accelerate the time to initial setup of the system and thus move from traditional blueprinting to scope validation exercise that further shortens the time. There are other acceleration techniques we see applied in some cases like use of iterative implementation of the delta requirements on top of the baseline solution.
Let me offer few examples to illustrate what I explained above:
ERP implementation at Schaidt Innovations with 3 months long deployment of ERP solution using ERP RDS as a baseline (you can view their testimonial here - Schaidt Innovations: SAP ERP on HANA in the cloud - YouTube)
Customer in Asia with global template deployment that leveraged SAP ERP for Manufacturing with deployment to cloud and 9 countries rollout (Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, UK, Germany and US). The initial deployment took 4 months for first country and 2 months for rollout into the additional 8 countries - so total of 6 months. The original plan using traditional approach with full blueprint and heavy configuration was estimated to be more than double of the actual deployment time.
There are many other examples where customers follow the assemble-to-order delivery model for their project and gain significant benefits doing so. I suggest you to review some of the recordings we did in 2013 about this approach and if you are member of ASUG review the Agile ASAP sessions we did for ASUG PM SIG.

  • Requirement of E-sourcing and e-CLM (contract life cycle management) in SRM

    Dear Experts,
Does one need to install e-sourcing and eCLM (contract life cycle management) in SRM 7.0 to take the benefit of full functionality available in SRM 7.0?
My understanding says that e-Sourcing and CLM are not must for SRM 7.0. They are basically available separately as on demand product who may not have SRM landscape.
Any ideas shared will be highly appreciated.
    Reagrds,
    Ranjan

    Hi Ranjan -
The answer is NO, you do not need E-Sourcing/CLM to install and work with the contract functionality in SRM 7.0.  These are completely different products / systems.  The contracts functionality in CLM is oriented toward contract authoring / qualitative information management about contracts, while the functionality in SRM is more oriented toward the quantitative contract information/execution of the contracts against orders.
    Hope this helps,
    Emily

  • Regarding SLCM (Student Life Cycle Management)

    Hi
does any one working on Student Life Cycle Management(SLCM)
can any one pls let me know what are the function modules present in the predefined business package and how to know what are the predefined functonalites given by sap.
when i test the predefined Iviews i get an error for some of iview as student object id not found.
can any one pls let me know about this
    Bye

    Ok Fine
I have some points to share thise issue with u
first thing is , iam using wrong application for the requirement.
and even i use wrong apps some thing result should be show, as i said the error i got
we raised an sap Oss for this, they provided the solution as stating that we are using the apps which are specific to the advisor but not for the students specially.
So if u want to use those apps for student purpose we need to get that student object and pass in our application.
for this purpose we need an abaper help who is well versed in the coding part.
just modify the code of required application where u fetch the object id (BY Coding) in ithe intialization method,
    then the appication works fine
this is the solution i got and all my apps are working fine now.
    Thanxs

  • Re: Life cycle in SAP BW

    Hi gurus,
I am actually a newbie in looking for a job in SAP BW. Am more bent to put a 2-21/2 yrs experience since there's not place for freshers in UK industry, but most of the offers come saying either i should have a experience in full life cycle..could somebody explain how i could come over it
    Regards
    Sri

    Hi ,
When they refer to the full life cycle its the ASAP methodology which SAP recommends to follow for all its projects.
    1.Project peparation.
    2.Business Blueprint.
    3.Realization.
    4.Fit-Gap Analysis
    5.Go-Live Phase.
Normally in the first phase all the management guys will sit with in a discussion .
In the second phase u will get a functional spec  n basing on that u will have a technical spec.
In the third phase u will actually inplement the project and finally u after testing u will deploy it for production i.e. Go-live .
U might fall under and get involved in the realization phase .
If its a supporting project u will come into picture only after successful deployment.
let us know if any queries .......

  • SAP HCM Life Cycle

    Hi Expert,
Can anyone help me with the life cycle stages of SAP HCM.
I have a student who asked me what is the concept of SAP HCM, I explained about where was it started, what is the architecture, why is SAP preferred against other applications, modules covered, logic of integration... I would like to know if I am missing on anything as far as Concept is concerned.
    Thank you in Advance.
    Sejal

    Hi,
There is nothing as such called lifecycle of SAP HCM.
It is similar to an ERP application, and basically your organization first decides which of the ERP module they are going to implement, once they have decided to go for HCM, they wil opt for it.
Again in HCM it depens on customer which module he is going to implement and HCM is vast it inlcudes PA, OM, TIME, PAYROLL, BENFITS, TRAVEL MANAGEMENT, LSO, Performance management, HR Forms and Processes etc.
This implmentation has a life cycle - like
Requirement gathering, Blue printing, Realization, implementatin (Configuration and coding), Custom implemenation, Integration if required, Testing (includes, UT, SIT and User acceptance testing), Documentation and hence Go Live.
This is a huge process and requires domain / business / technical/ functional / Quality / Knowledge experts.
    Hope it helps you.
