Matching Quiz

Hello All:
I'm been tasked with creating a project that includes a matching quiz.  This quiz is not being graded.  My problem is that the project manager wants to with hold the "next" button so that users may not advance to the next slide until they complete this quiz.  I am aware that we can not add interactivity to our slides (quiz) so I was wondering if someone had an out of the box solution as to how something like this could be done.
I currently testing with a trial version of the drag and drop widget and I still see no way to do this.  Am I missing something?
Thanks.
MC

Remove the Skip and Back buttons from your question slide and if you want to disable playbar navigation as well you can hide that using OnSlideEnter action to set the cpCmndShowPlaybar variable to 0.
This will mean that your user only has a choice of the Submit button or the clear button.  If they click Submit before answering, the Incomplete caption should warn them that they need to answer the question.
If you want to get REALLY heavy with them, set your Quiz > Settings > Required > Answer All.  But this is overkill.

  • Matching quiz score doesn't work

    Hi,
    I have created a matching quiz question, after doing the quiz. in the results section the score is always zero and also it displayed you didn't completely finish this question!

    Do you perhaps use the Next button instead of the Submit button when confirming the answer? And please, tell which version you are using.

  • Using images with matching quiz.

    How are images added in a matching quiz?  can't find the answer anywhere?
    thanks!

    Hi there
    You click Insert > Image just like any other slide.
    Then again, they will also behave as they do on any other slide. You may place them for reference, but you cannot click them and drag them. You would also want to avoid using the Shuffle Answers option.

  • Matching Quiz in Captivate CS4 (using images)

    Hi all,
    I am looking to create a quiz slide in Captivate CS4 using the matching quiz tool.  Does anyone know whether or not you can use images as a question rather than text, for example, (see below) i would have the 4 hazard signs on the left and then the 4 answers on the right and the person completing the quiz would have to match the correct answer to the correct picture.  If it can be done, where would i start????

    Hi there
    It can "sort of" be done using Captivate. You wouldn't be able to click the actual image and drag to make the match, but you could certainly insert images just above the text. Then instruct the user to click the text answer and drag to make the match.
    If you took this approach you would certainly want to avoid shuffling the answers unless you wanted to totally confuse folks!
    Cheers... Rick

  • Partial Scoring on Matching Quiz Slide in Captivate 8

    Hi,
    I tried searching for the answer to this question before posting but I only located an answer for Captivate 5.5.  Is it possible to do partial scoring for a matching quiz slide in Captivate 8.  If not, does someone know a workaround?  It would also be helpful to me to know which questions slides allow partial scoring.  I am posting my trainings on an intranet site and not an LMS so I don't have the capability to do partial scoring from the LMS.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Only one type of question allows partial scoring: MCQ with multiple correct answers.
    Workaround is to create a custom question slide. The score can be stored in a variable, you'll have to collect the variable. Have some blog posts about partial scoring in custom question slides, before it appeared for MCQ in Cp. Here is an example:
    Widgets and Custom Questions - part 2 - Captivate blog
    I once created a custom matching question slide for a client (who never paid), using the D&D interactive widget from InfoSemantics, but that is only for SWF output.  And it had partial scoring.

  • HTML5 matching quiz drag and drop reveals TOC menu

    Hi,
    Not sure if this has been reported as a problem converting Captivate 7 lessons to HTML5.
    In several lessons there are Matching quizzes which allow drag and drop of the answer to a blank in the text or selection from the drop down menu by matching numbers in the text.
    Here is a link to an example lesson containing a Matching quiz. The quiz is on slide 5. The easiest way to get there directly is to use the TOC Menu to navigate to "Test What You've Learned".
    http://www.djfilms.ca/NRCan/HTML5/Lesson1.1_v7.2_H5/
    If the user trys to drag the answer on an iPad 2 the TOC menu also appears from the left of the screen.  This seems to be a problem related to gestures.
    Does anyone know of a way to solve the problem or is this something that Adobe has to fix?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Anyone know where one can purchase the code/template for a drag and drop quiz in html?
    Thanks,

  • How do I change the color of the matching letter in a matching quiz question in Captivate 8?

    The default dropdown box has white text with a white background. The text for the questions and answers is black. That doesn't change the dropdown letter to black, though. I've tried changing the default styles, and it only changes the main text, not the letters in the dropdown box. An old post for captivate 5.5 mentions changing the text color to differ from the dropdown answer color, but I want the reverse--the dropdown letter color to match the rest of the text. Actually, I'd take any color that would show up on the default white background for the box.
    Please, any answers in layperson terms. I don't know code and am refamiliarizing myself with Captivate after a few years away from it.
    Thanks,
    Sally

    I probably should add that it is only on publish that the text color changes to white. When I'm working in the Captivate program, the dropdown text appears black.

  • How can i create a audio/video quiz?

    Hi there,
    I would like to be able to create a quizes using audio and video. For example, i'd like to create a "Matching" quiz when an audio file is played and the student has to match the correct vowel that is heard in the audio file. If possible i'd like to be able to apply audio to all the quizes ("true/false" etc).
    Can someone please help me with this? Or should i use a different software? I hope someone can help me.
    Kind regards,
    Sander

    Do you have to publish to HTML5? I'm asking this, because object audio is not yet supported for that output AFAIK. And it is with object audio that you can have the best control.
    Which version do you use? That is also important, because the commands Play Audio, and Stop Triggered Audio only exist in Captivate 6, and could be handy as well as object audio.
    It is perfectly possible to add slide audio to your Matching question slide, but perhaps you'll want to offer the possibility to replay the audio clip? But first, answer my questions please.
    I have been blogging about audio, here are a couple of links:

  • Error with my my drag and drop quiz

    I'm working in Presenter 7. The problem I'm having is with
    the matching quiz. Initially it looks fine then when I begin to
    drag the answers to their correct location I get this big grey box
    and where ever I drag one of the answers the grey mess gets bigger.
    How can I resolve this?

    Alright I was having a problem with the presenter version of
    drag and drop so I made my own in Flash. Problem that I'm having
    now is that it works fine out of flash and not at all in presenter.
    It's like id doesn't see my stop() actionscript at first and then
    it does. I tried importing it as flash 9 and 8 and getting the same
    problem. Is there some kind of special actionscript I need to write
    to get it to work in Presenter?

  • Finder Search in Mountain Lion -- broken?

    Since upgrading to Mountain Lion yesterday, my Finder Search does not operate the way it used to and I'm not getting the right results anymore.  I have already forced Spotlight to reindex by adding the entire drive and a disk image file to Privacy, and then removing them from Privacy.  Reindexing took about 45 minutes, but now it says it is done reindexing.  I have these same two issues both before and after the reindex.
    If I have Finder displaying the files in the disk image and type a few letters for a filename (e.g., name matches great) in the search box, Finder Search cannot find the files in the disk image even though I can plainly see they are there.
    I have Finder pointing to the entire main drive.  I search for name matches quiz.  I get 10 results, including 3 in the RE Class folder, plus seven others.  But, if I point Finder to the RE Class folder on the main drive, and do the same search, it shows me those three files (as it should), and if I click the button above the search results for "This Mac" to expand the search, it displays only those same three in the RE Class folder, and "Searching This Mac..." appears with a spinner at the bottom of Finder ... forever? About 20 minutes so far... (This used to be instantaneous.)  It cannot find all the other matching files it previously showed me are in multiple locations on the main drive.
    Can someone tell me how to fix this?  Thank you.

    Based upon my test results below, Apple Support has escalated this to the engineers for resolution.  It appears that the presence of any mounted DMG file is what precipitates the problem, and the problem goes away if I close the DMG, but I can't really search in my DMG files until this gets fixed.
    <quoting my test results:>
    I have done more testing this morning.
    I had always worked with the Finder Preference > Advanced > When performing a search = Search the Current Folder.  I changed this back to Search This Mac before conducting the following tests.
    My conclusion is that the presence of any open DMG is causing the problem.  Other connected drives (external) don't have any bearing; they work fine.
    Test 1, with no DMG open:
    Pointing to the David home folder.
    Search Name=Dad
              This Mac=58
              Davidn=23
              This Mac=58
              David=23
    This is as expected.  The counts include files from an external hard drive, together with the internal drive.
    Test 2, with a DMG (Personal) open:
    Pointing to the David home folder.
    Search Name=Dad
              This Mac=45  (Note that this number is lower than in test 1, and it should be higher by 3 because of the files in the DMG.  Expected count was 61.)
              David=23
              This Mac = <spinner>  (Expected 61)
              <cancel>
    Test 3, with the DMG still open:
    Search Name=Dad
              This Mac = 0  (Expected 61)
              David = 23
              This Mac = <spinner>  (Expected 61)
              <cancel>
    At this point, I closed the DMG.
    Test 4, with no DMG open:
    Search Name=Dad          This Mac=58
              David=23
              This Mac=58
              David=23
    This is as expected.  The counts include files from an external hard drive, together with the internal drive.
    In addition, the tests I conducted yesterday, where I was directly searching in the DMG, remain the same: The first time the result is correct, and after that I only get beach balls.
    Note that the DMG used for this test (Personal) is only 1 MB in size, and contains only 12 items in the root -- not a lot of searching to do.  I have tried to force Spotlight to reindex this file by moving it into and out of Privacy.  I never notice Spotlight do anything about that, but maybe it is too small to be noticeable.

  • Editing answer text

    I have a 'Matching' quiz section.
    When one of the answers is matched to one of the possible key
    words, can i have the answer text turn a different colour? this
    would make it easier for the user to identify which answers have
    been used and which still require matching.
    Regards
    Damon

    Hi Damon
    I can't think of a way you could possibly accomplish this.
    You might wish to suggest it to the developers though. You may do
    so by

  • Moving answers in a quiz once they have been matched to a target in using drag and drop

    Hi,
    I am having a problem with some of my drag and drop quizzes that I'm wondering if anyone you might be able to help me with?
    In some drag and drop quizzes I have created, using the Infosemantics drag and drop light widget in Captivate 5.5, I can move the answer after having matched it to a target but before submittting.  Whereas in some quizzes I have created, the answers get stuck and do not let me move the answers after I have matched them to a target, even though I haven't submitted.  This leaves me no choice but to clear all my answers and start again if I have made a mistake.
    Please can you tell me how to enable the answers to move even after they have been placed on a target?

    Emma,
    Take a look at the troubleshooting tips on this page from the Infosemantics website:
    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/adobe-captivate-widgets/drag-and-drop/troubleshooting-widg et-issues
    Pay particular attention to the section entitled: "My drag and drop question works correctly sometimes, but not other times. "
    From the appearance of your slide, it looks like you may have removed some of the components from the quiz slide that are necessary for it to function correctly.  Try the test that this section of the troubleshooting suggests so that you can see if this is the case.  If it turns out that you have deleted some items, you'll need to recreate your quiz slide to get them back again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Review Quiz - Matching Question

    Hi fellow Captivate-rs! I'm urgently hoping for some help...
    I've got a four-question "Knowledge Check" (quiz), complete with a "Results" slide, at the end of my project. When clicking the "Review Quiz" button, the correct answers display for the user to compare against theirs as well (as should occurr, of course). The only exception is with "Matching" questions. When reviewing them, I see yellow boxes where the correct answer could/should be viewed. However, the correct answer(s) do not appear. Does anyone know of a solution? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Captivate doesn't allow much flexibility in these pre-programmed quiz question slides.
    If you're not trying to output to HTML5 you could rebuild the question as a drag and drop interaction using the Infosemantics Drag and Drop Lite Question Widget.
    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/adobe-captivate-widgets/drag-and-drop/question
    This widget has a special trick for showing the correct answer when in Review Mode.  Your learner can mouse over an object you specify in the widget settings that will then cause the drag objects on screen to animate and move to their correct positions.  See the instructions on this page under Show Correct Answer:

  • Adobe Captivate 4 Quiz(Matching)  Drop down list font size too small.

    Hi,
    We are using Adobe Captivate 4.  Quiz (Matching).  Exported to SWF.
    The drop down list fonts are small. We want to use bigger font in the drop down list, but cant find a way.
    Any one can help?
    Thanks
    Rajan

    Hello,
    Formatting Question slides in CP is sometimes a pain. I cannot give you a proper answer, but it would be great if you filed a feature request to the team to have more control over the styles used in this dropdown list (link is in the main page of this forum). If we are many to ask for such enhancements, it will get higher on the priority list.
    As you probably discovered, in the Properties of the dropdown lists in the Matching Question slide you can only change font and color, not font size. My proper workaround is choosing a font that gives the best result, some fonts really look bigger than others. This is not always consistent with the styles in the rest of the movie, but I adapt all the Text in Question slides to this choosen font.
    Sorry not to be able to help you. Question slides are in the folder, but in SWC-format, and I cannot open those files, even though I have Flash CS4 installed. Perhaps a Flash-wise guy will pop in to help you.

  • Question Pool Manager text not matching question.

    How can this happen?  I'm using Captivate 5 on Windows XP.  In the image below, the text of the question in the pool does not match what it says in the Pool Manager.  Note the highlighted line on the Pool Manager. It says "Type the question here" while as you can see the actual text was edited to deal with crates and foam.  I have several quizzes with the same problem.  When you take the quiz, all of the questions display fine.  When you look at the quiz result data, several of the quiz questions are listed as "Type the question here."  Anyone got any ideas?
