Materia Master field mandatory for specfic plant for a specfic mat type

HI,
I want to make one MARA-XCHPF field mandatory for a specific plant and specfic material type,If I Give Plant specfic Field referance and check the fiield as mandatory in OMSR for the field referance I have created If I mark it mandatory it become mandatory for all the material type,I want to make mandatory for some materials type only that too plant specfic
How to acheive this? kindly guide me

Hi Ashish,
First go to the respective field for which it has to be made mandatory. Note down the Table name and field name.
Go to SPRO--> Logistics General --> Material Master --> Field Selection --> Assign Fields to Field Selection Groups.
click the position field name button and enter the table name - field name (eg MARA-TRAGR for Transportation Group). Note down the Selection Group. Then go to
SPRO--> Logistics General --> Material Master --> Field Selection --> Maintain Field Selection for Data Screens
Kindly mention the field selection group that has been noted earlier and press enter.
Then in the middle Field Selection (Field Selection Group 1) can be seen select the field reference of the material type or MM01 for Create Material Master or MM02 for Change Material master as hide, display, reqd entry and Opt. entry.

Yes, it posible:
go to SPRO
Logistics - General-> Material Master->Field Selection->Define Plant-Specific Field Selection and Plant-Specific Screen Selection (OMSA)
see the settings for the plant in field reference - you need a diferent reference to the diferent plants (group together similar plants - all the ones that you want the field to be mandetory should have the same field reference)
now go to OMS9 or OMSR
and set the field as mandetory for the field reference you have made in OMSA

Material Master Field Change

I have a Field in MRP2 View MARC -> Field LGPRO (Issue Storage Location).
I am using MRP2 view, only for this field.
1) Is it possible I can move this Field to Plant/Storage location view ??
2) How to restrict this setting only for particular material types.

You need to move the entire sub screen. If you go to SPRO->logistics General> material master>configuring material master--> define structure of data screens for each screen sequence. Say select 21 that is std ind ( short) tab pages and make a copy of that say Z1. In that if you go to MRP2 view the sub screen containing storagelocation field is with screen number 2484.
Now if you go to Plant storage data view 1 and select dialog structure subscreens; here the screen with 0001 can be changed to 2484. However since this is related to MRP view the maintainance status needs to be changed to D from L else you will not be able to see the fields. But if you change the status to D the orginal sub screens of Plant data/storage1 will not appear.
You will have to check that these subscreens can be moved to Gen plant data/storage2.
Finally you need to assing this Z1 under same node but assign screen sequences to user/material type/transaction/industry sector under that
SREf Trans Sref user Sref Matl type Sref : industry Ssq
01 * relevant material type * z1 ( the one which was created as above)
However material master being very critical it is advised not to make such changes and if any changes are made it has to be thoroughly tested for the impact.

Mass changes of Material Master field with different values

Hi,
How to change a field in Material Master for more than thousand materials. I think MM17 can only be used for mass changes of materials with same values. I need to upload different values for different materials. Is there any other way to do this.

Material Master - Field in MM to enter NDC (National Drug Code) or similar

Hallo Experts,
Is there somewhere in the material master where one can enter codes for identification such as NDC - National Drug Code?
The reason I asked this is because it is a custom requirement for some goods that are considered drugs which we trade with other companies across the border (Mostly US). This information (Coming from a field in the MM) needs to be EDI'd and hence I am in search of a field in the MM that could house this code. Its Kind of like the Harzadous material number but in our case WM is not implement. Is there a possibility?

in mm01 u can extent the material for new plant
first creat all the views say purchasing accounting basic view etc for one plant
the go to MM01 put same materal code and select the views purchasing and accounting
now put the other plant number
enter
and put the purchasing and valuation class etc asd save
thuis u can extend the material to other plant
reward if usefull

Locking and locking material master fields

Hi Experts
I have a scenario where we need to lock material master field to be locked once data is maintained in the field so that its not editable for the users to change by the users, later the change should be possible for the field through an interface.
Any inputs on how to achieve this.

Im not sure how to get a direct solution for your scenario, but maybe you can use Authorization group to control who can access to this material instead?
Just a thought.

How to make material code field mandatory in VA01

Dear all,
I want to make material code field mandatory while creating sales order (VA01). As of now even if I dont enter material code , and just enter customer code and P.O. number , I am able to save my sales order.
I tried to do it with incompletion log , but could not succeed.
SHD0 could be an option, is there any simpler way out ?

Hi,
You have 2 options.
1 - Incompletion Log
If you add Material filed to your incompletion log, then when you try to save the sales order it'll give the "Save / Edit" pop up message. But then by pressing Save button you can save the sales order.
If you want to avoid that pop up; do this. (To avoid user saving Incomplete sales orders)
Go to VOV8 Tx.
Go in to your sales document type
Under "Transaction flow" section mark the "IIncompletion messages" tick box
Then try with a new sales order without a material number
If won't give that pop up message any more where as it'll always go in to the incompletion log. So you can't save it without maintaining the material.
That's a alternative way of doing.
2- SHD0.

first copy the screen field of mateiral master to get this press F1 on the the field adn from technical tas copy the the screen field (e.g MRP group MARC-DISGR) then go to OMSR transaction and hit field name and enter the value you have copy from mateiral
once you see that field on the screen then hit the Green yellow arrow from right side of screen whic will take the screen where oyu can make optiona, reqd or hide field.
but make sure here you make setting at appropriate field ref other wise it will impact many transaciton
e.g. if oyu want to make field optional in MM02 then don;t make field optional at ROH

IMG-->QM>Quality notifications->Notification Creation->Define Screen Templates--> Define Initial Screens--> select F3 here and enter QM03_CREATE_QMEL_WITH_WINDOW in the column Name of the function module and enter 0100 in the initial screen column., save it.
If you wish to make material document field mandatory, then go to
IMG-->QM>Quality notifications->Notification Creation->Define Screen Templates--> Field Selection: Initial Screens--> select the radio button as REQ for the field RQM01-MBLNR that is for material doc.
Similarly for in the above menu you can make mandatory for reference object screen also
IMG-->QM>Quality notifications->Notification Creation->Define Screen Templates--> Field Selection: Reference Object Screens--> select the radio button as REQ for the field RQM01-MBLNR that is for material doc.
Now, once you finish this , go and try QM01 you will find the POP for Material document entry coming immediately if you pres the Notification button for F3 Notification type.

Material Master Change Pointer IDOCs not generated for Moving Avg Price GR

No IDOC is created or distributed when the moving average price
changes. Each time a Goods Receipt is performed, the material master
moving average price (MBEW-VERPR) changes but the change is not
distributed. No change pointer is created in the tables. Why?
We need to send the moving average price each time it changes. In our
case, each time a Inbound Delivery has been Post Goods Receipt this
value changes for that material + plant combination and the value
should be sent.
The field MBEW-VERPR is included in BD52 as a field relevant for change
pointers for the message type.
Please advise.

Hello,
SAP will not generate change pointers (and no IDOCs) for Moving Average Price (MAP) changes. This is because MAP updates are not really Master Data changes and they are driven by transactions such as Goods Receipts, Revaluations etc. For these transactions, SAP will generate respective accouting documents for traceability.

Material Master --View's wise mail sending for further process

Hi all workflow guru's,
I am trying to implement workflow for material master creation 'WFMaterialtest'.
the business requirement is that for certain material types when Basic Data1 and Basic Data2 views have been created by USER1, a work-item needs to be send to USER2 to create Purchasing View, then to USER3 to create MRP views and then USER4 to create Sales related and then to USER5 to create Accounting views.
for this requirement I found,
BUS1001006 Standard material and
BUS1001 Material.
till now i didn't created a W/F from scratch.
Please help me out to sort the requirement.

You can maintain these fields as mandatory in your material master...U must be using field reference i.e. say for eg 0001 or whatever which u can see in T Code "<b>OMSA</b>".......Against that field reference; u keep below mentioned fields as mandator i.e. in T Code "<b>OMS9</b>"........But these will help u to keep these fields as mandatory.......which means w/o entering values; u may not save material master
If required; assign these fields to field groups in OMSR

Material Master Field Restriction

is it possible to restrict the setup of some specific field for an specific view in Material master, and let the rest of the field to be updated for the normal users that used to?
the views that I'm talking about are the MRP1 & MRP2 at the material master, the idea is that no one can modify certain fields that belongs to them,

You cannot restrict the material master feilds based on the user, because the feilds in the material master are not user specific.
It is based on the material type and also you can modify based on plant specific and industry specific.
May be you wont give certain users for authorization for MM02 transaction ,for that you cantact the SAP security guys in your
team,
If you want no one can change the MRP veiws you can do in the configuration settings,T,code OMSR the table name is MARC and based on the feild name you select the Display only, so no one can change the values.
