Material extension in different plants

Sir,
My Client has 11 plants in india, he wants the same material in all 11 plants hence i suggested to go in mm01 and make an extension. but their view is that as there are 20 to 30 materials added ed every month. this procedure would be time consuming. hence i need way how to maintain same material in all 11 plants simultaneously.

By using bapi : Bapi_material_Savedata u can achieve it..
u have to pass only these values to extend material from one plant to another plant.
Example Requirement : Material 100-101 is available only in plant 1000, So lets Copy material 100-101 to a plant 1200.
Note : Pass values in block letters only
In headdata structure :
1.headdata-material           " matnr : '100-101'
2.headdata-ind_sector       " mbrsh : 'M'
3.headdata-matl_type        " mtart : 'HALB'
4.headdata-basic_view      " kzsel : 'X'
5.headdata-purchase_view "kzsel : 'X'
In Clientdata structure :
1.Clientdata-base_uom    " meins : 'PC'
In Clientdatax structure :
1.Clientdatax-base_uom   "meins : 'X'
In Plantdata Structure :
1. plantdata-plant             "werks : '1200'

By passing above data u can extend material from one plant to another plant..

Different Material Types in different Plants

Hi,
I have 2 Plant under a Company Code. A material being produced in plant A has to be sent to Plant B for further processing. I would like to maintain single material master for both the plants, but different Material Types. Material has to be treated as Finished Goods in Plant A and Raw Material at Plant B. Could any one please let me know how I can MAP it in SAP.

Hi,
For the Same material Code you can not maintain two material types in two plants..
But you can make a Z* mat type with all the relevant views of FG & ROH..
For Plant 1 it will have all the views
and for Plant 2 extend only the ROH relevant views...

Material group in material master for different plants

Warm greetings Masters of Material Management
We have one material master for three different plants example 1000, 2000 &3000 with same material group with different valuation class
If we change material group in plant 2000 it is reflected in 1000 & in 3000
My question is this the standard practice that material group changed in one plant will be reflected in other plants

The current situation, if user change material group for plant 2000, it is effected in plant 1000 & in 3000
the impact of this is in purchase requisition
As the release statergy is triggered from material group to different department
How can we solve this issue

Material allocation to different Plants

Hi,
We have the follg business scenario:
Plant A supplies to Plant B, C, D etc., Material Requests from Plants B, C, D etc., to Plant A is in the form of STO. We want to allocate Parts from Plant A to these receiving Plants based on customer specific priority / logic (like Date of STO, Lead Time etc.,). Based on the quantity allocated, Goods Issue should be posted to the respective STO at Plant A. Since the volume of transactions are high, we want to carry out allocation through System and then post GI.
Through which functionality in R/3 can the above process be addressed ? Or is there any workaround ?

Thanks for your immed response. I have set SPK to enable STO between Plants B, C, D etc., to Plant A. There is no prob in this. Our actual reqmt is as below:
Let's say MATNR 12345, Stock at Plant A = 5 pcs
Let's assume the follg STOs from other Plants:
2 STOs from Plant B each on Day 1 and Day 2 for Qty = 1
2 STOs from Plant C each on Day 1 and Day 3 for Qty = 1
2 STOs from Plant D each on Day 2 and Day 3 for Qty = 1
Based on Stock at Plant A, we want to alloc (an then post GI) as under:
For Plant B, Alloc = 1 + 1
For Plant C, Alloc = 1 + 1
For Plant D, Alloc = 1
i.e., Plant A decides to send 2 pcs for Plant B, 2 pcs for Plant C and only 1 pcs to Plant D. This is based on first come first serve basis.
The allocation priority is what we are looking for.
Is there any feature to achieve this as the volume of transactions are high ...

Procuring for 2 different Plants(Diff CoCd) in 1 PO

I have extended a Material to 2 different plants belonging to 2 different Company Codes with a Centralized Purchasing Organization.
E.g I used CoCd 0001 and 1000 in standard SAP system and two plants, each from these CoCds. The mat I used is extended to both these plants. In the PO I used a Purch Organization (Not assigned to CoCd, but to both those plants) and 0001. It worked!

You have the following options:
You can assign a purchasing organization to one company code. This is company-specific purchasing.
You can assign a purchasing organization to no company code. This purchasing organization can then procure for all plants assigned to it, irrespective of the company code to which the plant belongs.
Since each plant must be assigned to a company code, the company code can be determined via the plant in each procurement transaction, even if the procuring purchasing organization is not assigned to a company code.
A purchasing organization must be assigned to one or more plants. This is plant-specific purchasing.

Material check in alternate plant

Hi friend,
In MTO scenarion I have same (component) material in two different plant within the same client. During MRP run dependent requirement should be checked in the alternate plant's and if material is available reservation should be generated.
Or is it possible to convert planned order generated in plant 1100 be transfered to plant 1200 and also converted to production order.
Pls suggest the solution.

Hi Experts,
One material is having different plants . if I create or change of material , I want to fetch the plant based on material.
Example :
                    Matnr   10043 plant UK01
                    Matnr   10043 plant UK02
                    Matnr   10043 plant UK03 ......If i make changes to Material 10043 for plant UK02 . I want to fetch UK02 value based on material 10043. Is there any key field to identifychanges to material-plant based on material from marc or any table ?

While assigning batch material get locked in different plant.

After implementation ,frequently facing problem, In CO02 we are assigning the batch manually to the material but one material is configured with valuation type domestic / import. while assinging the bacth to the material system showes to another user who iis entering the same material in different plant is xxxx user is locked the material so u cant assign the batch, but batch we are maintiaining in material level. (batch maintianed in material level.)
currently we are going in sm12 transcationa and removing the lock, but we want to know why it is happening. what is the root cause for the error.
Please advice.

It is Standard SAP at a time same material or its masters cannot be used by multiple users ids or with same user id also
system gives error material is locked.You can unlock it thru SM12 but be careful while soing so some the data which the another user using may be or may not be lost.
the better way is to ask the user to come out of that material or release it after doing his work

You can create the Same material with diff Number in two Plants..
But you can not do STO..
For STO the Material Should exist in the Two Plants with Same Number..

then again in mm01 in material filed give same no (abcd)and in copy from field also give that no(abcd)
sytem will ask u for from and t locations give that and proceed
similarly if u want to extend view in the material go to mm50 and do

Extending material master for different sales org/plant combination

hi ,
1 ) a material can be sold from one plant by many sales organisations. so we map this scenario in enterprise structure by the config step "assign sales org--dist channel--
plant ". (let's say sales org A and B selling from plant 1 and also sales org A selling from plant 2)
when we have defined the above config step, then why we need to have material master extended for different combination of sales org and plant as in stpe 1 ?. we can just create one material master with one plant and sales org combination and based on config as in step one, we can sell material from any sales org from a plant ?
2) we can extend material master for any combination of sales org/plant .....is it also possible to extend material master to different storage locations !

There are several reasons why you should extend the materails to different sales organizations and plants.
a. The materials are normally valuated at the plant level. So, you can have different valuations at different plants.
b. You can have different quantity stored in different plants. How do you know which plant has what quantity.
c. You can have materail not to be sold from one plant, but you can have the same materail sold from the other, how do you block it? at the plant and materail combination, you can do it.
d. For different sales organizations, you may want the cost and the price to be posted to different GL accounts. You can control it at sales org level of the materail.
e. You may just want the material to be purchased but not sold, then you may not even create a sales org view for the material. But say, in future you will like to only purchase a materail from a plant and consume it for some other purpose but not sales (which u did previously), then you can block it at sales org and dbr level.
So, these are a few reasons. But there could be many. You can have a look at the fields in the material master at sales org level and plant level and you can find it for yourself howmany parameters are there to control...

in plant 1, the material is maintained and the material number is ex: 314,
in MM01 --> enter material No: 314
material type:
industry sector,
select the organization levels --> plant 2,
and enter
The material will extended to plant 2, when you save the material.

Problems in having common material and batch in different plants

Hi all,
As the material with the same batch is existing in different plants, we are facing some problems in processing the Process Messages.
If some user who belongs to a different plant is processing the batch for the material, the Process messages are not being sent the destination as we get an error message that the reservation is currently processed by user (who actually belongs to a different plant). This is effecting the Business.
Can anyone tell me how we can prevent this? Could the reservation and Batch status set as plant level control via standard IMG change ?
