Max no of connectiosn to the database

Hello everyone,
Is there is a way to know the max simultaneous number of connections that has been done on the database. This is in order to help estimate the value of processes paramater.
Some details about our environment:
DB and service connection in dedicated mode.
Oracle9i R2 DB
connection through the listener/tnsnames

You can use this to find out maximum number of processes since instance startup.
SQL> select MAX_UTILIZATION,LIMIT_VALUE from v$resource_limit

The result cache seems to have lagged a bit for the first hintless query..

How to delete duplicate records in all tables of the database

I would like to be able to delete all duplicate records in all the tables of the database. Many of the tables have LONG columns.

To delete duplicates from an individual table you can use a construct like:
DELETE FROM
    table_a del_tab
WHERE
    del_tab.ROWID <> (SELECT
                            MAX(dups_tab.ROWID)
                      FROM
                            table_a dups_tab
                      WHERE
                            dups_tab.col1 = del_tab.col1
                      AND
                            dups_tab.col2 = del_tab.col2
                      )You can then apply this to any table you want. The only differences will be the columns that you join on in the sub query. If you want to look for duplicated data in the long columns themselves, I'm pretty sure you're going to need to do some PL/SQL coding or maybe convert them to blobs or something.

Suddenly getting UserNotFoundException: User Not Found: Could not load profile data from the database

Starting yesterday (I believe) we are suddenly receiving a "User not found" error when trying to view a user's profile page when clicking on their name (in search or elsewhere) via the url

This is happening for all users. (but profiles exist and seem ok, and sync with AD is running fine) When looking in the logs I see the error (full ULS log is later below)
Exception in LoadRequestedUserProfile: (Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserNotFoundException: User Not Found: Could not load profile data from the database.
The only clue of what MAY be going on is just before that I see the following two lines which came up after I changed the Database logging to Verbose:

If I am reading that correctly, does it mean the connection to the database is timing out instantly? I am able to use powershell to pull up profiles and print them to the screen while on the webservers. And it's only the one specific page that is not
working.
What sort of tests or further debugging can I do for the error above?
We are on premise, SharePoint 2013 sp1, sql2012, server 2012, claims using the full SharePoint Profiile Sychronization against AD. Farm has been running since last august. Last week the admin team did run windows update on all servers, I can't be sure
if it was broken for 5 days and no one noticed or if it broke yesterday.
I already did the following:
Verified the profiles do exist in central admin.
I can still access their personal sites directly via
https://www.contoso.org/personal/myuserlogin
I checked the ProfileDB database and made sure the service accounts for the UPA has dbowner, so does the farm account, and the web application pool has SPDataAccess.
Verified the AD sync account has proper rights in AD.
I reran a full synchronization which ran with no errors.
File systems on the webservers and appserver have plenty of free space.
Rebooted every server in farm
I even checked the bin directory of the mysite webapplication, (since once I had a weird problem where access to bin was removed.) WSS_ADMIN_WPG, WSS_RESTRICTED_WPG_W4 have full control and WSS_WPG,IIS_IUSRS all have read and execute.
I opened powershell on the webserver I can indeed load profiles and print their values.

I have a VeriStand-Project (VSP) created with my Laptop-Host (LTH) which works with my PXI, while
deploying it from my LTH. Then I have installed the whole NI enviroment for PXI and VeriStand use on a
industrial PC (iPC). I have tried to deploy my VSP from the iPC to the PXI but the following error
message arose on my iPC:

The software versions of the NI products (MAX/My System/Software) between my LTH and the iPC are
almost the same. The only differences are:
1. LabView Run-Time 2009 SP1 (64-bit); is installed on LTH but missing on iPC. The iPC has a 32-bit system.
2. LabView Run-Time 2012 f3; is installed on LTH but missing on iPC.
3. NI-DAQmx ADE Support 9.3.5; something strage on the LTH, because normally I am using NI-DAQmx 9.5.5 and all other DAQmx products on my LTH are 9.5.5. That means NI-DAQmx Device Driver 9.5.5 and NI-DAQmx Configuration 9.5.5.. On the iPC side all three products are 9.5.5.. That means NI-DAQmx ADE Support 9.5.5, NI-DAQmx Device Driver 9.5.5 and NI-DAQmx Configuration 9.5.5..
4. Traditional NI-DAQ 7.4.4; The iPC has this SW installed. On the LTH this SW is missing.
In order to fix this problem I have formatted my PXI and I have installed the following SW from the iPC:
1. LabVIEW Real-Time 11.0.1
2. NI-488.2 RT 3.0.0
3. NI_CAN 2.7.3
Unfortunately the above stated problem still arose.
What can I do to fix this problem?
I found a hint on http://www.labviewforum.de/Thread-XNET-CAN-die-ersten-Gehversuche.
There it is written to deploy the dbc file againt.
If this is a good hint, so how do I deploy a dbc file?
I would feel very pleased if somebody could help me! :-)

Hi Lukas,
I think the problem is caused by differenet drivers for the CAN communication.
NI provides two driver for CAN: NI-CAN and NI-XNET.
NI-CAN is the outdated driver which is not longer used by new hardware. NI replaced the NI-CAN driver with NI-XNET some years ago, which supports CAN, LIN and the FLEXRAY communication protocol.

Max amount of planes in the air simultaniously - giving arrival and departuetime

I use oracle 11g and I have a SQL Server table with a flight field (flightNo) and two datetime fields (Departuredatetime, Arrivaldatetime).
How is it possible to query the max amout of planes being in the air simultaniously in a certain timeperiode? result should provide the datetime of this maximum also.
Example:

Best Practice for closing a blocking connection to the database.

Background:
Using toplink/eclipselink to manage the the connection to the database.
We support 3 databases, Oracle, Mysql, and MSSQL.
We host the an application locally (SAAS) and we also distribute it to our clients so they can run it on premise.
Problem:
From time to time the application will execute a route that query the DB and will take 10+ minutes. When we find these queries we generally fix them, but it takes time to fix the problem and roll new code to production. We have also found that if an end user executes the query to many times they can potentially bring the service down - maxing out the database connection, or putting a huge load on the DB effectively rendering the system to a crawl.
During this time period the IT team need a way to abort a transaction. The current approach, for our SAAS solution, to scan the database find to the long running query and kill it. The application is smart enough to recover and everything seems to work fine. This doesn't always work for our on premise customers - often they don't have a DBA or adequate resources to monitor the system. Therefore, I'm looking for a way to have the application kill/close any query that is lasting longer then X minutes. We currently track the duration of every thread so I can get the time the thread has been actively running.
Stack Trace
Currently we keep track of how long each thread is running waiting for a response from the database such as the stacktrace below, I would like to grab the connection and physically close it. Since we are using a java socket and it's in a blocking state there is no way for us to interrupt the thread. The only option is to wait for it to receive a response from the db - kill the sql process - or to close the java socket.

Question
What is the best way to grab the connection and close it - from another thread?

The reason for changing the namespace is to guarantee that they appear as different versions. The namespace is part of the strong name of the DLL when deployed. Yes they will be deployed to separate servers because a server can only belong
to one farm. But when you are doing a migration it won't be clear that you need to install the 2013 version since the .DLL will report that it exists in the 2010 farm already. It will work without changing the namespace, but it would be best to differentiate
versions at that level to avoid confusion.

Archived log files not registered in the Database

I have Widows Server 2008 R2
I have Oracle 11g R2
I configured primary and standby database in 2 physical servers , please find below the verification:
I am using DG Broker
Renetly I did failover from primary to standby database
Then I did REINSTATE DATABASE to returen the old primary to standby mode
Then I did Switchover again
I have problem that archive logs not registered and not imeplemented.
SQL> select max(sequence#) from v$archived_log;
MAX(SEQUENCE#)
         16234
I did alter system switch logfile then I ssue the following statment to check and I found same number in primary and stanbyd has not been changed

What I mean after I do alter system switch log file, I can see the archived log files is generated in the physical Disk but when
select MAX(SEQUENCE#) FROM V$ARCHIVED_LOG;
the sequence number not changed it should increase by 1 when ever I do switch logfile.

Questions about the database connection

hi all,
I am developing a project with JDeveloper 10g and I created a database connection to my Oracle RAC database.
However, whenever I start the project with the JDeveloper and I do a "netstat -an" with the command prompt window. I show there are over 100 connection ESTABLISHED to my database. I don't have any idea how this happens. The problem is since there are over 100 connection established, I couldn't run the project with the JDeveloper's embedded OC4J.
Can anyone help me to fix this problem?

I have set the Max connections to 30 in the connection-pool setting of my project in the Embedded OC4J Server Preferences, but it doesn't work.
There are still over 100 connections to the database...

I have a problem after detaching the database and attaching it again (I moved the database to another partition because of shortage of disk space). Then, I find that the system can not start. (I've two systems and now neither of them could start). The error seems very similar.
In the pure java system(netweaver 04s) log: jvm_bootstrap.out,
com.sap.engine.bootstrap.synchronizationException: Database Initializtion Failed! Check database properties.
com.sap.engine.frame.core.configuration.configurationException: Error while connecting to DB.

User defined tables: amending Index on the database level. Opinions???

Hi everybody who has some spare time to read my stuff
I had a problem that some of you might have had. I have a user defined table, lets call it ProductTypes. Now system by default creates two columns in this table, one is Code (primary key) and another is Name (Index). I have added third column called Department. Now, if I wanted to add the following data (see bellow) to the table I would have had a constraint violation message pointing me out that I have problems with indexing.
Code, Name, Department
1, Cream, Fragrances
2, Cream, Beauty Products

I could thing of couple workarounds of this problem
1. Is to duplicate Code into Name and storing rest of the data using user columns
Code, Name, Product Name, Department
1, 1,Cream, Fragrances
2, 2, Cream, Beauty Products
This approach isnt very convenient as it requires UI development should we decide to attach this table to the Item master data form in a form of combo box.
2. Is to amend Index on the database level. Initially, the index KProductTypes_Name consisted of only one column Name, what I have done is added another column which is Code to indexing. I dont see how this can harm database consistency or damage the core system. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Another way of amending index in order to solve my problem could be choosing ignoring duplicate values option for column Name.
Please let me know what are your thoughts.

in this scenario we would have to do UI SDK development for the output and going to have an extra column with meaningless data in it.

Solution manager is running on win2003 server with db2 database.When i m trying to connect db2 from command promt i m getting error.I m following these step.

Store documents in the database

I have a table called doc_detail with the following details

Sample Data:

My queries are
1. How to load the above doc,pdf files into the oracle database without using sql loader?
2. What is the best way to do capacity planning for these documents. Let's say the average size of each file is 50k max.
3. How to download the data from the table with proper format? I heard that we can not download the documents from database without java interface. Is that true?
4. Are there significant overhead in storing the file in the database?
Could you please shed me some lights on this? It would be great if you give an example, if possible.

Hi,
i am planning to do QAS refresh from PRD system using Client export\import method. i have done export in PRD and the same has been moved to QAS then started imported.
DB Size:160gb
DB:DB2 9.7
os: windows 2008.
I facing SQL0964C The transaction log for the database is full issue while client import and regarding this i have raised incident to SAP then they replied to increase some parameter like(LOGPRIMARY,LOGSECOND,LOGFILSIZ) temporarily and revert them back after the import. Based on that i have increased from as below mentioned calculation.
the filesystem size of /db2/<SID>/log_dir should be greater than LOGFILSIZ*4*(Sum of LOGPRIMARY+LOGSECONDARY) KB
From:
Log file size (4KB)                         (LOGFILSIZ) = 60000
Number of primary log files                (LOGPRIMARY) = 50
Number of secondary log files               (LOGSECOND) = 100
Total drive space required: 33GB
To:
Log file size (4KB)                         (LOGFILSIZ) = 70000
Number of primary log files                (LOGPRIMARY) = 60
Number of secondary log files               (LOGSECOND) = 120
Total drive space required: 47GB
But still facing the same issue. Please help me to resolve the ASAP.

Hi Babu,
I believe you should have taken a restart of your system if log primary are changed. If so, then increase log primary to 120 and secondary to 80 provide size and space are enough.
