MaxDB install failure on Win 2003 Server

Win 2003 Server
MaxDB v 7.6.05.09
HP Proliant G5
Good morning,
We've got a problem with a MaxDB install on a fresh Win 2003 server.
- The first install process and the demo database worked fine
- We tried to create a new database instance and it hung. As nothing was working as expected we decided to uninstall maxdb and all its component and to re-start from a clean process. That's were things are becoming weird :
- The first time the setup assistant hung when installing the kernel
- The secund time the setup assistant hung when installing the demo database
- Every following test hangs when installing the kernel
We tried to do a clean uninstall MaxDB, to watch which registry keys we should restore... but nothings worked as expected.
We found a link at this address describing the same problem but it doesn't provide us anything to solve our problem.
Here is our log file :

HI there,
it really does look like as the "uninstallation" was done by merely deleting files from the filesystem.
This will always lead to problems when you try to re-install a MaxDB afterwards.
Uninstallations should be done via SDBUNIST to avoid such issues.
Based on the error messages like:
getRelease():C:/Program Files/SDB/MAXDB1/pgm/kernel.exe not found
MSG: migrate server installation data for INSTROOT "c:/program files/sdb/maxdb1"
MSG: installed package is flaged as invalid => skipping update check

>WRN: cannot execute command: xregcomp -u "c:program filessdbprogramsliblivecachedbg": cannot create process, Le fichier spÈcifiÈ est introuvable.
we can tell: the MaxDB installation registration had not been deleted correctly.
If I'd to guess, I'd say you just deleted whatever was in the folder "c:program filessdb" and crossed fingers that this would do.
Anyhow, on this system, due to the usage of non-SAP-standard folder layout check this one, the installation registration can by found in the all users data folder:
>MSG: Template set indep data path to "c:/documents and settings/all users/application data/sdb/data"
This would have to be removed as well.
Anyhow, maybe you want to read the documentation before messing up your system by try and error:

Lars

  • Win 2003 server SATA2 RAID 0 install errors

I keep getting the following error when trying to install Win 2003 server, as it is loading drivers:
    "The file iaStor.sys is corrupted.
    Press any key to continue."
Note: I get this error on every copy of win2003 server that I have AND I get it when trying to F6 install Intel's SATA RAID drivers from floppy, so it isn't really a corrupt file.
So I continue on and finally when trying to load windows it says something about windows not detecting any harddrives.  Well, bios sees them fine.  The ROM Intel Matrix Storage Manager sees them fine.  I have all 3 drives set on one volume in Intel Matrix Storage Manager for a total of 698.7GB's.  If I change to SATA Mode IDE the BIOS sees them fine.
I have the following relevant BIOS settings:
SATA Mode RAID (I've tried all 3 settings with no luck)
SATA Post speed setting DISABLED (I've tried Force Gen2 to no avail, and yes the HD jumpers are off so it runs at a full 3gbs)
JMB361 Disabled (I don't have anything on SATA port 5)
I've messed around with practically every possible combination of settings and am at a complete loss here as to what I should do to get this thing working.  I've even tried skipping RAID completely.  I've read through the (confusing) mobo instructions multiple times and just don't see what I am missing here.  =/  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  TY!  See profile for hardware specs.

Well, you can only find out by re-installing the system with SBE 2003 again and if it doesn't works, you've got to install SBS 2003 back...
It depends on how you want to play the game. A shot that may help you or burden you .

  • Error during installation of SAP on win 2003 Server

    Hello All,
I am trying to install SAP 4.6 on win 2003 server. The process of installation has completed for almost more than 9 hours. I am getting an error during "Database post processing". When I clicked "retry" the installation has stopped and restarted the system. I tried to start the SAP server which turns from Yellow to green. In my case, it turns to yellow and cannot proceed further.
Also, is it necessary to stop the Oracle services till the end of the installtion?
In addition, please send me Installation guide for the same to my mailid:

Please do let me know your inputs on how to resolve the issue.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Oracle 9i release 2 for Win 2003 Server 32 bit

From the Oracle download site, do I need to download Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard/Personal Edition for Windows NT/2000/XP 32 bit before administering the Release 2 for Win 2003 Server. (approx. 180 Meg)

Interesting. I've been using APEX 3.2 with Firefox 3.5 for several months now without any issues and I know several other developers doing the same. Can you test it from another client machine to see if it's something with the PC or the install of Firefox? You might also try [a href="http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable"]Firefox 3.5 Portable[a], as it will basically give you a clean, fresh install of 3.5 without uninstalling your current 3.5. Just make sure you close all instances of Firefox before you start up the portable one.
On a totally unrelated note, just wanted to make sure you know the 9.2 is no longer a supported database (unless you pay for extended support) and the upcoming 4.0 release of APEX will not work with 9.2 at all.

  • Visual Composer is not running on Win 2003 Server

    Hi,
after installing Visual Composer on a Win 2003 Server (with applying OSS note 804496).
The analyzer from note 772559 do not notice errors.
But I get a HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden: Access es denied --> You are not authorized to view this page.
It is a Test system and I have allowed all I can, but it is not working.
Does somebody have an idea why I got this error message? Do I have to configure something that is not described in the Installation Guide?

    Hi Ignacio,
I did not change the file. I use the same on a Win2000 Server and it's working there.
By the way, the URL http://ep-tst/vcserver/~server.ini is working, so it could not be a permission problem, could it?
The default.htm is the default page in the VCServer directory..."http://ep-tst/VCServer/default.htm" is not working, too.
And the title shows "Loading... - Microsoft IE".
Do you have an other idea?
    Thanks&Regards,

  • Is XI available on Win 2003 Server

    Hi,
Does anyone know if XI Runtime installation is available on Win 2003 Server ?
The PAM shows that the database for SQLServer is available on Win 2003. However, it does not mention about the ABAP and J2EE stacks.
    Any information appreciated.

XI is an "Add-on" to Web AS 6.40, and Web AS 6.40 can run on Win2k3. I just installed one on win2k3 the week before, and it is still running well!
If you use SQL server, make sure you read note 600027.

  • Trying to configure a Win 2003 Server to use TLS server authentication . . .

    I am trying to
configure a Win 2003 Server to use TLS server authentication following Method 2 in KB 895443 - see below:-
Method 2: By using the Certificate Request Wizard
The following steps describe how to obtain a certificate from a Windows Server 2003 Certification Authority. You can also request a certificate from a Windows 2000
Certification Authority. Additionally, you must have Read permissions and Enroll permissions on the certificate template file to successfully request a certificate. Use this method if one or more of the following conditions are true:
You want to request a certificate from an Enterprise Certification Authority.
You want to request a certificate that is based on a template where the subject name is generated by Windows.
You want to obtain a certificate that does not require administrator approval before the certificate is issued.
To obtain a certificate, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Run, type mmc, and then click OK.
On the File menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in.
Click Add, click Certificates, and then click Add.
Click Computer account, and then click Next.
If you want to add a certificate to the local computer, click Local computer. If you want to add a certificate to a remote computer, click Another
computer, and then type the name of that remote computer in the Another computer box.
    Click Finish.
In the Add Standalone Snap-in dialog box, click Close, and then click OK in the Add/Remove
    Snap-in dialog box.
Under Console Root, click Certificates (Local Computer).
Note If you configured the Certificates MMC snap-in to manage a remote computer, click Certificates (servername)instead of Certificates (Local Computer).
On the View menu, click Options.
In the View Options dialog box, click Certificate purpose, and then click OK.
In the right pane, right-click Server Authentication, point to All Tasks, and then click Request New Certificate.
In the Certificate Request Wizard that starts, click Next.
In the Certificate types list, click Server Authentication, click to select the Advanced check box,
    and then click Next.
In the Cryptographic Service Providers list, click Microsoft RSA SChannel Cryptographic Provider.
I get as far as step 11 and I get the error message:-
The wizard cannot be started because of one or more of the following conditions:
    - There are no trusted certification authorities (CAs) available.
    - You do not have the permissions to request certificates from the available CAs.
    - The available CAs issue certificates for which you do not have permissions.
This is covered in KB 927066 – see below:-
To resolve the problem, follow these steps:
Verify that the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group exists in the domain that hosts the certification authority. This group is in the CN=Users container.
To do this, follow these steps:
    Click Start, click Run,
type Dsa.msc, and then click OK.
In the left pane, click the Users container.
Verify that the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group is in the right
pane. If the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group is not in the right pane, go to step 4.
Verify that the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group includes the following member groups:
    Domain Users
    Domain Computers
If these member groups do not exist in the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group, go to step 4.
Note If users or computers in other domains need to enroll against the certification authority, you must also add those users and computers to the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group. If the current problem occurs on a domain
controller, you must also add the Enterprise Domain Controllers group to the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group. By default, domain controllers are not members of the Domain Computers global group. Therefore, domain controllers
do not have sufficient DCOM permissions.
Verify that the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group has the appropriate DCOM Access permissions and DCOM Launch and Activation permissions on the computer that hosts the certification
    authority.
    Click Start, point to Program,
point to Administrative Tools, and then click Component Services.
    Expand the Component Services node.
    Expand the Computers node.
Right-click the My Computer node, and
    then click Properties.
    Click the COM Security tab.
    Under Access Permission, click Edit
    Limits.
Verify that the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group has Allow Local Access and Allow
Remote Access permissions, and then click Cancel.
Under Launch and Activation Permissions, click Edit
    Limits.
Verify that the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group has Allow Local Activation and Allow
Remote Activationpermissions, and then click Cancel.
Click Cancel, and then close the Component
    Services console.
Settings may be incorrect if any one of the following conditions is true:
The CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group does not exist.
The default membership of the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group is incorrect.
The CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group does not have the correct permissions.
If any one setting is incorrect, run the following commands at a command prompt. Press ENTER after each command.
    certutil -setreg SetupStatus -SETUP_DCOM_SECURITY_UPDATED_FLAG
    net stop certsvc
    net start certsvc
Repeat steps 1 through 3 to verify that all the settings are correct.
Note If the changes affect the group membership of the certification authority server, you must restart the server for the changes to take effect.
The only part of the above instructions which I have not been able to complete is:-
“you must also add the Enterprise Domain Controllers group to the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group”.
When I click on the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS user then click the Members tab & go to add Enterprise Domain Controllers the option is not there.

    Hi Nick,
Have you successfully set up an enterprise CA?
If yes, is the enterprise CA’s certificate located under the Trusted Root Certification Authorities store?

  • Error after upgrading from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.2 on Win 2003 server

    Hi,
I just upgrade oracle 10.2.0.1 on Win 2003 server(32-bit) to 10.2.0.2. The installation seemed to be successful. (no errors) utlrp.sql ran ok as well. However, when I tried to start the upgraded database, I got the following error:
    SQL> startup
    ORACLE instance started.
Total System Global Area 293601280 bytes
    Fixed Size 1289064 bytes
    Variable Size 96470168 bytes

    Redo Buffers 7098368 bytes
    Database mounted.
ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated. Disconnection forced
    Any ideas?
Thank you very much for your help.

Looks like, you have only upgraded Oracle Software from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.2. After that, immediately you are trying to bring the DB up. In that case you will receive an error "ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated. Disconnection forced".
Did you upgrade your 10.2.0.1 Database after the software upgrade? I mean did you execute the following steps.
    SQL> STARTUP UPGRADE;
    SQL> SPOOL patch.log
    SQL> @?/rdbms/admin/catupgrd.sql
    SQL> SPOOL OFF
    SQL> SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE;
    SQL> STARTUP;
    SQL> @?/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql
If not please execute them, and also follow the README document of the patch carefully.

  • User Unable to RDP in Win 2008R2 Due to Multiple Group Membership But Can RDP in Win 2003 Server

We have built a new application server with Windows 2008R2 where set of users are local admin (application owners) and we have same kind of application server
in Windows 2003 SP2 with same users as local admin.
Now in Windows 2008R2 servers these local admins are unable
    to RDP and get ACCESS
DENIED whenever user tries to login but can login successfully in 2003 server.
Now, strange case is, I found these admin users group membership with more than 600 groups and they are able to login win 2008 server as well if I remove their
group membership to a minimum level say around 300.
This is so confusing for me as user can login in WIn 2003 server with highest group membership but not in WIn 2008.
We have applied Maxtoken registry also through GPO.
Any idea what are we missing here.

This has nothing to do with Directory Services so I will move to the General forum.
One thing to look at is to make sure that you have RDP enabled on these new 2012 servers.

If you already have IIS web server running, you need to run the LabVIEW web server on a different port to avoid conflicts. It probably won't start because the port 80 is already in use.
Check options.."Web Server: Configuration" within LabVIEW.

In my gigabith (certifyd category 6) network I have numerous problems to transfer files from Mac with Tiger 10.4.4 to win 2003 server. After to me it are connected the copy of files leaves correctly, with good speed (40-50MB/sec), but when little lack MB (1/10MB) the connection is slowed down (10-300Kb/sec), and often it is closed with ERROR -36. I have the same problem with 8 G5 and whith SMB or AFP.
Any assistance you could lend would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

we are having the same exact problems. Our Macs are bound to Active Directory and connected via Gigabit. This is happening on machines with 10.3.x - 10.4.5. We authenticate fine, connect to servers fine and transfer speeds are great up until the last bit of the file. It hangs for a few minutes and either makes it or we get disconnected with a -36 error. This one is hard for us to pin down because we just moved facilities so we have new HP gigabit switches, cabling and our domain controllers were updated to Windows 2003.

  • Install 16 bit Oracle client on Win 2003 server

    Hello,
Is it possible to install Oracle SQL* Net 2.3(16 bit) Client on Windows 2003 server. If it is then could someone give me links from where I could get more information on this (like the steps to install 16 bit Oracle client on Win 2003).
    Thanks.

the 16-bit applications are not supported by Windows 2003 server x64 edition.

I have never tried to use 16-bit SQLNet client on Windows 2003 x86. I'm pretty sure that this combination will not be supported by Oracle , athough it could work.
As far as I remember the 2.3 client was shipped with the Oracle 7.3.
here is the desupport notice for Oracle 7

    HI there,
it really does look like as the "uninstallation" was done by merely deleting files from the filesystem.
This will always lead to problems when you try to re-install a MaxDB afterwards.
Uninstallations should be done via SDBUNIST to avoid such issues.
Based on the error messages like:
    getRelease():C:/Program Files/SDB/MAXDB1/pgm/kernel.exe not found
MSG: migrate server installation data for INSTROOT "c:/program files/sdb/maxdb1"
MSG: installed package is flaged as invalid => skipping update check
WRN: cannot execute command: xregcomp -u "c:program filessdbmaxdb1pgmdbpinstall": cannot create process, Le fichier spÈcifiÈ est introuvable.
    Installation Manual
    regards,
    Lars
