Maximum drive height on 8570p?

Can't seem to find an answer to this anywhere.
What is the maximum height replacement drive that can be used with the 8570p? 7mm? 9.5?? 12? 15mm (wouldn't that be nice)?
This question was solved.

Hi:
All of the supported hard drives are 9.5 mm in thickness.
Please see the service manual, chapter 3 page 48.

Unless someone here has tried to install a hard drive > 9.5mm in thickness (highly unlikely) in an 8570p successfully, and can tell you what the max is, all we can do is go by the book.

they have to format it to make it mac "compatible", for a lack of better terms.  I don't know what they would do.

  • What is the maximum hard drive height for installing two hard drives in the 2011 Mac Mini

In a few months I'll be buying a Mac Mini. I want to upgrade the stock hard drive with a Seagate Momentus XT Solid state Hybrid Drive(720 RPM), which is 9.5 mm tall.
I would like to add a second hard drive, a Seagate Constellation(7200 RPM), which has a "15mm z-height".
I want to use those hard drives so I can have a speedy Mac Mini, but also have a great amount of storage(1.75 terabytes). My largest priority is storage space, but I also would like to use 7200 RPM hard drives as speed is also a priority.
I would like to know if those two hard drives would both fit in the 2011 Mac Mini.
And also, what does "Z-height" mean in regards to hard drives?

9.5mm is the standard 2.5" drive height. This thread says one 15mm drive may fit, but recommends against a Seagate Constellation drive, due to the amount of power it draws.
One option would be to add an external mini-stack, then storage space becomes a secondary concern. If you want speed, install an SSD for the operating system then put everything else on secondary storage.

  • Hard Drive Specs for Thinkpad R51 - namely drive height please?

I have a ThinkPad R51 which I love. I run Linux Mint Maya edition. It has been a faithful laptop for me for several years.
My Harddrive apparently is failing - as it makes loud squeels when I try to run the system. I have not been successful in getting my data off the drive - since I can barely load the OS right now. (Right now I can't load it at all)
My old HD is a 30GB Toshiba MK3021GAS.
What is the DRIVE HEIGHT that I need to search for in getting a new HD?
I could live with even a 10 GB drive to get going again - can anyone point me to anything REALLY inexpensive? (I have only $10 today - and maybe $20 on Friday.)
I have a CD of Linux WattOS R6, which I could boot from. However, it doesn't show me the HD when I boot from the CD. Is there any way I can save my data from my HD? I could surive with extracting just a few hundred MB of files. It failed when I was tryihng to copy to a USB Stick this morning.
    Thank you in advance.
(I'm writing from my antique iBook G4, which is limping along on a failing HD itself.)

    Welcome to the forum!
Your machine will be able to use a SATA III drive, but it will be locked to SATA I speeds unless you
install a modded (non-Lenovo) BIOS that enables SATA II speeds.
As for a 1TB drive, as long as it's 2.5"/9.5mm laptop format, no issues there.

  • Maximum drive size for mirrored RAID

I'm want to set up a mirrored RAID with two 4TB drives that I have.  When I put the drives in the tower (Mac Pro, OS 10.8.5) and open Disk Utility, the RAID button at the top does not show up for these drives.  I only see First Aid, Erase, and Restore.  Is there a max size for a drive that I'm exceeding?  Or is it something else?

Hi - from the research I have done, there is a BUG in the OS. A solution is to boot with an older version of OS X and format the drive with the version of disk utlity on the older OS, or yank out the drive and put it in one of those 'drive toaster' type devices and format it EXTERNALLY.  The problem seems to be localized when it's formatted with the drive INSIDE the MacPro.
You would figure that this would be a high priority fix, but NO.  I went nuts for a few days trying to figure out WHY I could not see the RAID tab.
There is also third party software that has a more robust RAID solution. I have NOT tried it yet, but you should check it out.

  • Maximum drive size for Lenovo 3000 N 100

    Hello,
I've done what I could this past week but I still haven't got a reliable, serious answer to this question. My hard drive died on me after the guarantee period (obviously) and I'd like to have it replaced with a much bigger drive. Will a 160Gb or 250 Gb or a 320 Gb (that's the one I'd like most) be compatible? I've been told by shops and by the repair company that handles Lenovo that I can't exchange a hard drive once it's bought and opened. However, noone has been able to tell me what size the motherboard/system will handle for sure.
Can anyone shed any light on this issue. Lenovo just replied with the official data that the hard drives below are compatible (see info pasted below) and tested by Lenovo, while the repair company said OK to a 250 Gb drive I wanted to buy.

    Hi.
If you're through with your warranty, you have nothing to worry about - changing the HDD will not affect it as it is already wasted. So, you may insert any SATA drive you like - even SSD, since it emulates HDD behaviour.
All systems that do not recognise HDD's over 137 gb were lifetimed at 2005 as far as I remember.

  • W530 hard drive height?

    I just bought this w530:
    http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834312665CVF
I also bought a 7mm ssd to swap with the hard drive.
I've taken out the w530 hard drive, and tried fitting the rails to the ssd however its not as tight a fit as it is on the hard drive. I'm unsure as to whether this means the hard drive is 7mm or 9.5mm though, because the difference isn't that great.
How can I find out for sure what size my hard drive is, and therefore if the rails will fit my 7mm ssd, or if I need to get new rails for 7mm drives.
    Solved!

After transferring the metal encasing over from the HDD to the SSD it fits perfectly.

  • Hard drive height for Dv6t-2300

I've looked high and low for this info but have not been able to find it.  Does anyone know if the new 2.5 inch 1TB drives from WD will fit in the notebook model I've listed in the subject?  I currently have this notebook and do some video blogging, so I'm looking to increase my hard drive.  However, this drive is a little taller than others, and in some notebooks it is fine, but others it is not.
    Any info is appreciated.

    Hi,
Just as an example, the HDD on the following link would work fine.

  • Maximum drive capacity recognised by Time Capsule

As my 500GB TC was out of warranty and running out of space I bought a big new drive for it - a 3 TB HItachi. I've got it running but all the system sees is 2.2 Tb.
Not much on google but what I have found is a question as to whether the TC uses 'efi gtp setup or a bios mbr setup'.
Anyone know anything about this that might be useful?

Same here.... Put a 3TB Western Digital in to replace my 1.5TB Seagate drive and it only reports 2.2TB. Lot of fuss and $$ to only pick up .7TB

  • Maximum G5 hard drive upgrade

Hi, I have a dual 1.8GHz, 1.25 GB memory PowerPC G5 I'm looking to upgrade one of the drives I have inside the 80gig. I just would like to know what is the maximum drive size I can replace the old one with if there is a max size.

Seems some of the early G5 like 1.8DP had trouble with 2TB drive.
From where you are, a couple cheap/fast WD Caviar 640s would smoke. They make excellent system drive. And they work in all G5s.

I would like to buy a new HDD.
    I found a 2TB Verbatim drive 15 mm height.
How much drive height does G550 support?
Also somewhere it says that 4 GB RAM is max supported, elsewhere it says 8 GB.
Are there any CPUs with integrated graphics (Intel HD 4000 etc....) available for this laptop?

Ooops. Yes. Sorry for that silly typo. It is 2 TBs. Here's the info on memory:

  • Does a 12.5 mm high drive fit in 17" MacBookPro early 2009?

    Hello,
I want to purchase a bigger drive for my MacBookPro.
There is a 1TB drive on the market:
+Western Digital Scorpio Blue 1000GB, SATA II (WD10TEVT)+
Will this drive fit/work with my MacBookPro?

9.5mm is indeed Apple's maximum-height specification for all the unibody MBPs, but here's a service that offers to install the 12.5mm-high WD 750GB drive in any unibody MBP or in the pre-unibody 17" MBP:
    http://www.myservice.com/harddrives.html
They don't mention the 1TB WD drive, but it's the same size as the 750. I've just taken a careful look inside my late-2008 15" MBP, and it appears that there is in fact a little extra room there for a taller drive. I can't measure exactly how much, but the link above suggests that it's at least 3mm.
Apple may just have failed to anticipate the introduction of 12.5mm 2.5" drives and specified what was for some time a "standard" 2.5" drive height, calling it a maximum when in fact it really wasn't. This is a pure guess on my part.
Note that myservice is asking a fancy price for the installation, which does include data transfer but doesn't include shipping your machine to them. Unless they modify the machine or the drive in some way to fit it in, there's no very good reason to pay myservice for the installation. If I wanted a 750GB drive, I'd buy and install it myself and do my own data transfer by cloning, saving a bundle. If myservice does modify the drive or computer in any way, they should say so, because it will undoubtedly impact warranty coverage.

  • ESS iviews height / size issue

    Hi,
My ESS iViews (Web Dynpro Java) are appearing not in full height in the content area but a vertical scroll bar appears on right side. I tried following setting, though none worked:
    - Height type to "Automatic" for both iView and Page and resetting Maximum Automatic height to a higher value i.e. 1500 pixels.
    - Height type to "Full Page" for both iView and Page.
    - Height type to "Fixed " for both iView and Page, setting "Fixed Height" value to higher value, 1500 pixels.
    - Hight type to "Fixed" for Page, setting "Fixed Height" value to higher value, 1500 pixels and iView Height type to "Full Page".
    - Hight type to "Fixed" for Page, setting "Fixed Height" value to higher value, 1500 pixels and iView Height type to "Automatic".
    - Setting iView Isolation method to "URL" instead of "Embedded".
I searched the forum thoroughly for solutions, thus resulting in above Permutations but none worked.  I tried searching for any suitable SAP Notes but could not find any for Web Dynpro Java, though there are a few for Web Dynpro ABAP.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Aditya.

    Hi All,
I tried with clearing the navigation cache and browser cache, opened the delta-linked iView from Page object and found same height values as that of iView object. This problem is appearing right since the ESS BP was installed. No changes were made to the framework page or desktop inner page. Other standard and custom iviews are appearing fine.
Is there anything from SPRO configuration (Homepage framework) that drives the iView/Page Appearance-Size property ?
I tried several combinations as mentioned above but of no avail.
Any help would be highly appretiated.
    Thanks,
    Aditya.
