Maximum Supported resolution on graphics card???

Does anyone know the maximum supported resolution on the MacBook graphics card? I'd like to see if i could get a cheaper and bigger display than the ones made by apple. Any info would be appreciated.

No, that's just for the internal display.
Here's the info from Apple's hardware documentation
Extended Desktop Mode- In extended desktop mode, the resolution of the two displays can be set independently. In this mode, the maximum external display resolution supported by the MacBook is 2048 x 1536 at 60 Hz for analog displays and 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz for digital displays.
1920x1200 is the native resolution for the 23" Apple display, the 24" Dell display, and probably some others. They work great with Macbooks.

  • A55M-P33 and support for non-graphics cards in PCI-e x16 slot.

Does this motherboard support using an LSI raid card in the x16 slot, or does it only support graphics cards?  I am building an Unraid box and would like to use the slot for an x4 or x8 raid adapter in IT mode.
    Thanks Matt

Well wait around and see if anyone else post's but if you do a quick search of pcie raid controller you will find varying results. All the results I found were with Intel boards though so all I can say is no guarantees.
This is Msi's official response for raid cards:
    Quote
PCI-Ex4 RAID cards are designed and tested to work with Server/Workstation mainboards. Therefore MSI does not test server/workstation products with our desktop mainboards.
Please contact the PCI-Ex4 RAID card supplier for compatibility.
You can try to contact msi, but I assume they will tell you this.
    >>How to contact MSI.<<
I have also heard some no so hot things about LSI service, I can however vouch for Adaptec's service, so you might want to contact both and see if they have tested and combinations.

  • Why OpenCL is grayed out in supported and updated graphics card?

    Hi,
I have NVIDIA GeForce 520 which does support open CL and is officially tested by Adobe.
I have the most updated driver installed from Nvidia.
    I have win 7 64bit
    I use Photoshop CS6 64bit
    and still in preferences->performance->advanced settings
I see "Use OpenCL" grayed out.
    Can anyone explain this?

    Arielinson wrote:
This is of course done for NVIDIA GEFORCE 520 with newest drivers.
The people here who have ATI cards have a totally diffrent driver issue.
Looks like NVIDA also have work to do on updating their drivers then!
I don't think ATI users necessarily have a totally different driver issue: we've confirmed through your thread that the problem causing OpenCL to intermittently become unavailable is most likely to be the result of errors caused by the graphics card driver, and I'm hopeful that it will be resolved by future driver updates (in fact GraySki's experience is that it already has been fixed on the ATI side). What causes PS to identify that there's a driver error may vary considerably: might be rendering video as you've experienced, might be using say the new blur filters. But the basic underlying issue appears to be driver error, regardless of the card manufacturer.

  • Oracle support and compatibility with graphics cards

I have been going through 2 weeks of hell getting any kind of meaningful information on Oracle linux 6.2 support for various graphics cards. I started with an ATI FireGl card that would not work with OEL 6.2. I am swapping that out in the seemingly futile hope that I can get an Nvidia GEFORCE 8800 to work. Either I am conducting my search using the wrong verbage(hard to imagine, but possible) or totally incompetant! I am here in one last desperate gamble that SOMEONE has gone through this pain before me. Maybe I am asking too much to be able to install 11GR2 on my server and still be able to use a Gnome desktop. Linux Mint worked perfectly with the ATI card, but alas, I could not install Oracle.
    Thank you in advance
    Dean

From what I understand, the error means that the X Window server cannot find a display attached to your DVI output, which actually means it does not support the DVI port where your display has been attached to. This is a problem of the video driver that simply lacks support for your graphics adapter.
I suggest to start by connecting only one display and verify it is connected to the DVI-1 port of the adapter. Support for DVI-2 requires support by the video driver.
Enterprise Linux should work with graphics adapters that are standard with server hardware sold by HP and Dell. Graphics adapters you can buy over the desk from ATI and NVIDIA are usually designed for the end-user desktop/game market and are all difficult to get fully working under Enterprise Linux. You can check the vendor support page to see if they provide driver support for SUSE and RHEL, but I doubt that it will work with the Oracle Linux UEK kernel. Driver software from these vendors are not open source and require a specific Linux kernel. Alternative drivers exist for http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/ for NVIDIA, but your success will vary, in particular if you need to support 2 monitors, which is not a typical server system setup.
You might have more luck using a Linux distribution for desktop systems, such as Fedora or Ubuntu. What you are planning to install from Oracle? It is easier to get Oracle Database working on unsupported Linux than trying to hack a video driver to support advanced features on an unsupported operating system. Or try a complete different approach and install Windows and use virtualization, like Oracle VirtualBox to run Oracle Linux out of the box. I would prefer to use virtualization even if my desktop computer would run Linux. There are just too many advantages I would not want to miss anymore.

  • Graphic card support

  • I have an 'Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family' internal graphics card which is supported by every other browser expect Firefox. I'm running Windows8

I'm having trouble understanding why h/w acceleration is not supported for my graphics card. I have an 'Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family' internal card. Firefox says 'Blocked for your graphics driver version' under troubleshooting information. I'm running Firefox 18 beta under Win8x64. So, here's the trouble. When i was running Windows7x64, h/w acceleration was available only under chrome & that was limited too. I never really complained because i understood my card was about 5 years old. When i moved to Windows8, i was planning on getting a new graphics card, but to my surprise Intel had released new drivers for this version of windows & suddenly i was getting full acceleration under IE & Chrome & Adobe flash is also playing h/w accelerated videos. It would be helpful if someone could tell me why only Firefox seems to have a problem.

Ok.. thanks for your reply & the last sentence on the link you mentioned just answers my question.. It emphatically states about my card. I guess that's it then. So, long Firefox...

  • Mixing graphics cards

I ordered a Mac Pro with the Radion card. But I'm thinking that I might want to run Final Cut Pro with a 2-monitor setup and use my 50" LCD as a client monitor (3rd monitor). So if I wanted the client monitor to run off DVI, would I have to buy another Radion card, or can I go with a cheaper nVidia?
(I can also run it through a Canopus ADVC via firewire, but obviously DVI would be nicer.)

I don't know why mixing cards wouldn't work, but in
    <http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Hardware/Conceptual/HWTechVideo/Articles/Video_implementation.html#//appleref/doc/uid/TP40003994> it says:
"Note: The Mac Pro does not simultaneously support an ATI graphics card and an Nvidia graphics card."
Based on careful reading of the above document and
    <http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Hardware/Conceptual/HWtechPCI/Articles/pci_implementation.html#//appleref/doc/uid/TP40003937>,
it may be possible to install two ATI Radeon X1900 XT cards, one in slot 1, and one in slot 2 (also covering slot 3). The PCI bus would be set to x8 x8 x1 x8.
The configuration would meet all the cooling and power restrictions. There are auxiliary power connectors for both slots 1 and 2.
This would give you four displays (all could be up to 30") with independent resolution and rotation.
It is not a standard configuration, so you would order the Mac Pro with one ATI Radeon X1900 XT and order the second as an add-on
<http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/6.RSLID?mco= 220D662A&nplm=MA631Z%2FA>. Note where it says:
    "System Requirements:
Mac Pro with available double-wide PCI Express slot or two standard slots". They wouldn't say that if it was only allowed in slot 1 (the only double-wide slot).
There would still be one empty slot, x8, with 36 watts available.

  • MSI GX620 notebook graphics card upgrade (HELP)

    Hello
first time sorry for my bad english.
     I have a MSI GX620 laptop with a nv 9600th
I thought to myself that I have a ati hd4670 of replacements.
but unfortunately not boot the notebook with the video card.
the notebook starts, but only up to the hardware id consultation.
Give it a possibility to modify the bios that the card is detected?
ie the white list table expand.

There is no whitelist for the MSI gx620. This model supports many many graphics card.
There may be a problem with your 4670 card. You may want to update the laptop BIOS however to that of the gt627 or possibly gx623.
I recommend you return the graphics card to the seller you got it from. You can get a new heatsink for better Nvidia cards like this http://cgi.ebay.com/NVIDIA-quadro-FX-2700M-512MB-NB9E-GLM2-MXM-III-/270729976730?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item3f08c39b9a which is like the 9700m GTS (good if not better) http://cgi.ebay.com/Alienware-Nvidia-Quadro-FX-3600M-MXM-512MB-Graphic-Card-/170612917606?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item27b9528566#ht_4888wt_1139 (like 9800m GTS, very good) http://cgi.ebay.com/HP-nVidia-Quadro-FX-3700M-1-GB-Video-Card-NEW-NB9E-GLM3-/370504497087?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item5643c9f7bf (the best, but will run HOT)
Or if you like ATI http://cgi.ebay.com/Alienware-M17-M15X-512MB-ATI-HD-3870-Master-Video-Card-/180661996018?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item2a104b49f2
The heatsink may be hard to get. I think I could get one for you tho, PM me if you're interested.

Hello, community, Please could someone confirm the Graphics card needed to support a Eizo ColorEdge CG275W monitor, resolution 2560x1440. I currently have a Mac Pro with a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT VRAM (Total):          256 MB, which I'm guessing by it's age will not handle the new monitor. Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Hello Niel
Thanks. I didn't realize that I can get up to a TB! Wow! What type of TB do I buy, any suggestions of specific ones? Is there G5 specific Tb disks to install? Or just any as long as they have the right measurement size? And what size do I need to remain within?

  • Graphics card a bit more powerful in 15" than 17" due to lower resolution?

Is the graphics card a bit more powerful in the uMBP 15" than in the 17" due to the lower screen resolution? E.g. for games. I notice that when I turn down the maximum resolution in a game, the playing is smoothier which is logic but still, does that give the graphics card a bit more performance? I mean, I know they are the same in both the 15" and 17", it's just that the lower screen resolution might give a little more power to spare e.g. for framerates.

It doesn't mean it's more powerful... it's identical. If you run the 17" at a lower resolution (as in the same resolution as the 15"), you would get similar performance to the 15". Running at a higher resolution requires more processing power. Likewise, if you plug in an external monitor to a 15" which supports the same resolution as a 17", you would get similar performance on the 15". The difference is purely based on the resolution you choose.

  • Installed graphics card does not support the opengl features recommended

I've installed FCP6 on my PowerMac (PPC G4 DP 1.25GHz), and when I run it, I get a warning ("...installed graphics card does not support the opengl features recommended...") and the program ends. The graphics card is the ATI Radeon 9000 Pro (64MB)
I'm looking for a definitive answer regarding my hardware compatibility with FCS2 (specifically, FCP6). I'm NOT looking for an answer along the lines of: your system is too old to run this.
I've checked the minimum system requirements from the apple website (http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/specs/
    and http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/download/):
    * A Macintosh computer with a 1.25GHz or faster PowerPC G4, PowerPC G5, Intel Core Duo, or Intel Xeon processor
    * 1GB of RAM
    * An AGP or PCI Express Quartz Extreme graphics card (Final Cut Studio is not compatible with integrated Intel graphics processors)
    * A display with 1024-by-768 resolution or higher
    * Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later
    * QuickTime 7.3 or later
    * DVD drive for installation
I have all that stuff. What I'd like is to know which component of my system is FCP6 complaining about (vis-a-vis the error message above), alternatively, if someone has had success with a similar configuration, I'd like to know anything they think might help.
Thanks in advance for any helpful advice you may have.

The minimum would probably be an nVidia Fx5200 or an ATI 9600...

  • Quartz Extreme Graphics Card Support FCE 3.5

    Newbie so bear with me...
I have a Dual 1 GHz PowerPC G4 so I went with FCE 3.5 thinking I had all the minimum requirements as advertised. When I went to install it did not highlight for install. I checked the more detailed requirements in the package and the only thing I'm lacking was the "AGP or PCI Express Quartz Extreme graphics card". In the System Profiler under graphics/displays I have:
    ATY,RADEON:
    Chipset Model: ATY,RADEON
    Type: Display
    Bus: PCI
    Slot: SLOT-2

    Mirror: Off
    Online: Yes
    Quartz Extreme: Not Supported
As you can see it says Quartz Extreme not supported for the Viewsonic 19" monitor that I currently have. Wondering if there is a way around this. Just bought new HD camera setup/new os/fce so I would like to not spend more money on a new monitor. Let me know, thanks in advance!

    Hi Tom,
There is no actual error message displayed - the Final Cut Express HD is not highlighted under Custom Install as shown in the screencapture below:
    http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y14/nstatom/fcpinstall.jpg
The manual claims that if something is not highlighted it does not meet the minimum requirements and the only thing I do not meet is the video card. Any ideas? Thanks again in advance.
