MAXL Disk Volume

"display disk volume 'application'.'database';<BR><BR>What are the preconditions that need to exist for this MAXL statment to return rows? There are no predefined volumes in my essbase installations. I want to get the same results as you do when you issue "listfiles 3" within a ESSCMD session but using MAXL.<BR><BR>Thanks<BR>Razi<BR>

If this is on a Windows server, you might try:ALTER DATABASE FFT_DLYT.FFDLY_T SET DISK VOLUME "D:\\" file_type INDEX; If "D" is the drive letter and you want the index files placed in the root directory.

  • Error 1070023 Configured Disk volume does not exist.

    Hi
I installed Essbase 11.1.1.2 in stand alone mode. When I am trying to start Sample.Basic, I am getting the below error
Error 1002097 Unable to load database Basic.
The App log showed the following error
Error 1070023 Configured Disk volume does not exist.
    Please help..

So everything works when the volume is set to E?
If so, you might be able to use DISKVOLUMES E in the essbase.cfg file which sets a default (for BSO cubes, at least), but you shouldn't have to do that.
The DISKVOLUMES documentation says that the volume that contains your ARBORPATH is the one used by default. Not completely sure I trust that it's up to date, and isn't now ESSBASEPATH or something else, but regardless, do those variable all look to be set correctly? To be honest, that's a longshot, as I'd be surprised if a missing / incorrect value there wouldn't cause bigger problems...

  • How do I allow access to non admin network users to disk volume?

I would like to allow access to a specific volume (disk) on one of our networked macs (Mac1) to all users. I've set user accounts on Mac 1 for all network users. These users are "regular" users, not admin. They can access this disk (and all others on Mac1) if I log in as Admin set Users to Admin. If I do this, then users have access to ALL data on all disks. If I do not, leaving them as "regular" users, when they log in they only see public folders. How can I allow access to the one disk volume without making network users admin? I tried changing various settings for the volume in Finder Info (everone else=read/write; ignore permissions) with no luck.
    Thanks
iMac, ibooks, G5, Tibook   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Your observations are correct - by default, an "admin" user connecting over AFP can choose from available "volumes" (default) or "shares", whereas a non-admin user can only mount "shares".
By default, the only "shares" on an OS X client machine are the users' "Public" folders, and unlike pre-OS X Macs, it isn't easy to configure your own share points. Apple's official statement is that users wanting this functionality should buy OS X Server.
However, it is possible to create an arbitrary share point using 3rd party software called "SharePoints" (donationware). I have never used it, but it seems to be well regarded. Alternatively, you can do it manually following the instructions in this hint & comments (especially apw8's):
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20011108161839416
Once the external drive (or folder on the external drive) is configured as a share point, it should be possible for non-admin users to select and mount it once they connect over AFP.

  • Can't delete disk volume or files

I was using DVD2oneX using the join and create image functions. It created a disk volume and started copying all of my desktop files into it. I have only read access to the volume so I cannot delete the volume or any files that are in it. It is taking up a huge amount of available disk space and I'd like to be able to get rid of it.
Does anyone know how set the permissions so I can get rid of this volume?
    RickT
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I tried BatChmod and FileExaminer but neither has corrected the problem. In fact I get an error with FileExaminer and the application aborts. BatChmod just says the operation was successful, but nothing was changed.
Do you have any other suggestions that might remedy my situation?

  • ASO and storing data to multiple disk volume

Hi,I use Essbase Administration Services 7.1 on Win2000.I use ASO type of OLAP application. I would like to set storage to disk D: (the default is C:). How to to set storage disk volume for ASO type of applications? For block storage type OLAP application is in the database Properties tag in Storage tab. What about ASO type of applications? Is it posible to store data two multiple disk volumes? Thanks,Grofaty

It is a bit different for ASO models - you need to modify the tablespaces, which are found in the properties of the APPLICATION, not the database. In EAS right-click the app and choose Properties. Go to the Tablespaces tab and that should be what you are looking for.Regards,Jade---------------------------------Jade ColeSenior BI ConsultantClarity [email protected]

  • NCS - Disk volume 'optvol' more than 50% used.

    Hi,
I recently installed NCS and have received a major alert stating the following:
"NCS disk volume 'optvol' is above the recommended disk usage, more than '50'% used"
The VM was created from the NCS OVA file and I only have one 2500 controller in NCS.
Any ideas how to fix this?
    Thanks.
    Keith

I am updating my last post.  I found the text below in the release notes for 1.1.0.58 for reducing  disk usage.  This would affect us as we are well over 5,000 clients.
Table 5 Data Retention Period for Aggregated Data - Recommendations
Aggregation   Default  Recommendation for systems with more than 5000 clients
    Hourly   31 days  15 days
    Daily   90 days  60 days
    Weekly   54 weeks   54 weeks
After making these changes, were able to get about a week of additional run time before the /opt partition started filling up again.  We finally caved and added an additional 200GB virtual disk to the system.

  • Disk volume settings for 6.5 on MS 2000 server

We are upgrading Essbase from version 6.1 on an NT server to 6.5 on a MS 2000 server. When we initially built our old server, we partitioned the drives and stored the index on one disk volume and the data on another. I remember that at the time there was a reason (performance?) that we did this. When they built our new server, they did not partition the drive. Now both the index and data will be stored on the same volume. Does anyone know if this will cause issues with performance down the line when we move to production and have multiple users and mmultiple application running at the same time?ThanksBonnie

It could, but it's difficult to say. I think that you would be best off with the data on separate disk arrays with separate array controllers. The next most optimal solution would be to have two logical partitions so that the OS can schedule disk operations to more luns. This is all just theory though, so it's really hard to know unless you have the luxury of testing different configurations.

  • Error: There is insufficient free space on disk volume

    Hello All,
I am trying to add Appset and getting this error:
Error message:There is insufficient free space on disk volume 'E:\' to create the database. The database requires XXXXX additional free bytes, while only yyyyy bytes are available.
    My question is :
Why I get this message although I didn't check the data or any other option when trying to copy my production AppSet?
XXXX required is the size of my production AppSet DB.
    Can anyone please help?
    Best regards,
    Mahmoud

    Hi Santosh,
    Thanks for your answer.
I am sorry I don't understand well what did you mean.
What I wanted to say is that DataBase creation failed so AppSet copy has failed and this is due to lack of disk space as mentioned in the error message.
If this would be clearer my question would be :
    - What is the minimum free disk space needed to create an "empty" AppSet? Empty means no options checked in the copy Appset wizard.
    FYI: I use BPC 7.0 SP8 SQLServer 2008
    Thank you for your help.
    Best Regards

  • Disk Volume cost for MaxDB 7.6 and 7.8

    Hello, everyone
I heared that MaxDB 7.8 uses UTF-8 to save characters while 7.6 uses UTF-16. Therefore I made a comparasion to prove this.
To be disappointed, the result did not support it. The experiment procedures were as follows:
    1. Create a DB with same disk volume size(30MB) and log volume size(20MB) and default char code as Unicode.
    2. Create a table with only one column of varchar(200) unicode.
    3. Insert 6000 lines of records to this table.
    4. See the data area of percentage filled.
    5. It showed that the two were nearly same and  7.6 was even less than 7.8.
So, I have the following questions:
    1. Does Maxdb 7.8 use UTF-8 to save characters?
    2. What are the feature lists for MaxDB 7.6 and 7.8?
I was asked a sap service marketplace account to login. Is this kind of information so secret?
    3. If Maxdb 7.8 uses UTF-8 , how to configure to use it?
Any reply will be highly appreciated!

    Hi,
As per the Wiki link http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/MaxDB/FAQ, section:
Bigger development request (e.g Unicode UTF-8 or page compression) that would have required man-years of effort in SAP MaxDB, are either already available in SAP In-Memory Database or will be done there
So, seems UTF-8 is not yet there in MaxDB 7.8.

  • Error message for a disk volume

    Hi,
I have a terrible problem with the disc volume. I cannot open a volume. The mac thing it is alias file which it cannot find and I should "delete,...".
    I thing, the Problem is:
I use the time machine with external firewire disc. Under OS 10.5.8 the external drive isn`t allways connect to the computer and in this case it choose this other internal drive, but didn`t any backup to this drive. I don`t know why.
Now under 10.6 I get get same Alias-message if I try to open the external time machine volume. What can I do, to find a solution for my internal drive?
I switch off the Time Machine, but it is the same problem.
    Thanks
    Uwe

I think too, that is a time machine problem.
I have 4 volume partions (3 hard disk) at this mac. I use only the time machine as backup system. Only one. Before I install Snow Leopard I use the latest MacOS X 10.5.8. Always the newest version of MacOS.
Perhaps I describe it: Under 10.5.8 I use the time machine backup volume at an external firewire drive, always the same. I switch off this firewire drive often. In this case (the drive isn`t connect) the icon of this partition"Pro10.4" was changed to the time machine volume icon, but the time machine does nothing at this partition.
After the installation of 10.6 I cannot access to this "Pro10.4" volume. I get the same error message if I want to open the external drive volume of my time machine backup. There is no problems with my other two partition. Of course my old V10.5.8 is at one of this partition. If I start my mac from a other partition (time machine is off), I have no problem with all partitions.
I change the name of "Pro10.4", but nothing is changing. The time machine protect the backup volume under V10.6. Unfortunately it choose an other partition, if it don`t find my external drive. How can I reset this state of my "Pro10.4"?
    Thanks
    Uwe

  • TIme Machine - disk volume not showing in history

I have time machine backing up my boot volume, and an external disk that holds my itunes library and iphoto data. The external drive has failed. I have a new drive to restore to, but when I look at the time machine history it no longer shows the old volume attached, it just shows the new one.
Do I have to name the new disk, the same as the one that died? If so, is there a way to find that name (I don't remember what I called it).

    tbrinker,
Well, it should be relatively easy to determine the name of the old volume, with a little bit of detective work. COnnect your Time Machine backup drive, and navigate it using the Finder. Inside the backup folder, you will find nested folders going back into the past. Find one that is named with a date that you know would have included the old iTunes/iPhoto volume, and open it.
You will see at least two folder: One named for your startup volume, another for the iTunes/iPhoto volume. BINGO!
Now, all you need to do is re-name the volume on your new external drive. For now, let's disconnect the Time Machine drive. Select the Desktop icon for the volume on your new external drive, and press <RETURN>. This should highlight the name for editing. Re-name it using the exact same name as the folder you found in your older backup (the name of your old iTunes/iPhoto volume), then press <RETURN> again to exit the "edit mode."
With the now re-named volume still mounted, connect you Time Machine drive. When it is available, navigate in the Finder to the root of the new drive (not the Time Machine drive), then click the Time Machine icon in your Dock. You should now be able to go back in time to a point where the window you are seeing is populated with folders (namely, your iTunes and iPhoto libraries). When you find it, select everything, then click "Restore."

  • Taking a stab at live help from a pro - disk volume structures

I'm taking a stab at getting some live help on an a 1-month old iMac 24". I'm using my Mac mini right now because the imac is undergoing a TechTool Deluxe Surface Scan at the moment.
    Specs:
1 month old Intel iMac 24 2 GB RAM 500GB Seagate HD...
Everything's been fine. I added a firewire 800 external 500GB HD the first week, bought the registered version of Superduper, and have been making bootable images since. They work fine and the iMac is booted from it as we speak.
System froze today quitting Firefox I believe. Had to manually boot with the power switch. Got grey screen, spinning circle (NOT the colored one), nothing else.
Booted to OS X startup disk, ran disk utility, got error on disk repair. (Sorry, I don't remember what it was, but I don't think you'll need it after you hear the rest of the story).
Booted to external Firewire 800 drive, ran disk utility again, same error, wouldn't fix it.
I have Applecare on it, put Techtool Deluxe CD in, ran all the test except Surface Scan, everything passed except Volume Structure.
Told it to repair, confirmed it, Wait a few minutes and Techtool Deluxe program acts like it's working, seems to unmount the internal HD, and just quits with no error message.
bring up disk utility, same error when disk repair tried.
    windowsrefugee takes deep breath
Now I reran TTD with Surface Scan checked, it's half-way through with no errors.
Keep in mind, the only problem reported by TTD is with Volume Structure but it CAN'T fix it.
Now, while it's in the middle of a surface scan that's looking good, here's my critical decision path question to any late-night guru's out there:
Should I wait til morning and call Applecare, or download Disk Warrior for $99 and fix it myself (I'm new to Macs but a DOS and Windows old-timer with a high level of expertise).
I'm boiled it down to those 2 options, simply because I don't think there is anything physically wrong with the HD, based on disk utility AND TTD telling me it's a volume structure problem (that neither one can fix).
Plus, something tells me Disk Warrior is gonna come in real handy sooner or later (looks like sooner to me
Do I have this right? What are the chances there is nothing physically wrong with the HD and what are the chances of Applecare fixing it over the phone without me having to take it to repair shop (or get a home visit if they do that-which is gonna be a hassle if I have to take in to shop as I'm disabled.
windowsrefugee inserts a big PERIOD and thanks anyone in advance for their help.
PS---I love the iMac, my Mac mini, OS X and all things Apple. My MS-based OS machines strewn all over the shop are getting very lonely for human interaction, but they're not getting any from me.

    nothing wrong with HD.
I 'd suspect the third party applications. If you have the time and energy why not do a clean install and see what happens. You could run Apple Disk Utility to check that HD.
One thing in the Mac world is always check version and compatibilty with the OS system version you are running. I've run Macs since 1986 and don't use any sort of Disk Utility. No sense in it. I've owned all the ones you mentioned and still waiting for the DEFINITIVE FIX.

  • New MBP 15" Weird Freezing & Disk (Volume Header) Problems, related?

    Hi all
I hope someone can help me, and I hope I don't have a faulty Mac!
I bought a 15" MBP a week ago and while it's awesome, I have a problem where the system will completely freeze, except for the mouse cursor.
Nothing on the keyboard works, force quit doesn't come up, plugging in / removing the power supply doesn't change the battery icon, there's no spinning beach ball. Literally the whole system is unresponsive except for the mouse cursor which seems to be moving fine. None of the hardware controls work either, i.e. eject button
The only consistency that I can think of is that of all the times that it has happened, Firefox was open (ver. 2.0.0.2), except once where Firefox had just started (it froze with Firefox darkened in the dock)
Since then I've reinstalled Firefox but I have another problem and wonder if they're related.
Fresh out of the box I tried to install Windows through Boot Camp but when Boot Camp tried to partition my disk it gave me an error and referred me to Disk Utilities. Disk Utilities gave me a "Volume Header needs minor repair" error, so I fixed it from an older Mac that I have with the MBP mounted in disk mode.
This fixed it, Boot Camp then installed fine, I managed to get myself a virus so I deleted the Windows partition through Boot Camp and tried to partition the disk again with the intent of installing Windows and not get a virus this time

I recently bought an ibook and installed mac os x 10.2.2 which is the original software that shipped with this ibook. I am trying to update the 10.2.2 to 10.2.3 using a download off of apples website. When i try to install it, it runs as it should and when i get to the select destination portion I see my 40gb partitioned hdd with about 35gb total remaining.
It simply says, installing this software requires 196mb of space...You cannot install this software on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Welcome To  Discussions txtexhox22!
In Your Other Topic, the discs you said You Purchased, are version 10.2.4, not 10.2.2.
If that is what you installed, you cannot not install a 10.2.3 update.
    Quoted:
    iBook OS X Software Install 10.2.4 (2 cd's) cd version 1.0
    iBook Software Restore (3 cd's) cd version 1.3 (OS X 10.2.4 & 9.2.2)
When you run Software Update, what version updates are offered?
Perhaps if you download & install the 10.2.8 Combo Update, it will work.
Also run Repair Permissions before and after the installation.
