I have to waut until it reaches 100% and then i take the AC adapter. I book shuts down and after i turn it on with out the AC and it stays running on bat until the 48%. Then i have to go through everything again.

Till now my battery has been working perfectly. The machine is about 1 year old and I use it heavily for my work. I prefer to unplug my battery when it's full, and use it till it go's to sleep before plugging it in again. This results in a very high Cycle count (453) but a still perfectly working battery (98% according to CoconutBattery), I can use the machine for about 4 hours on a full battery.
The amperage would be 0 since your battery is not in a charge cycle.
Part of your problem could honestly be your cycle count and method of caring for your battery. If you check some of the research about Li_ion batteries this is the worse way to use it. Li-Ion batteries work best with little charges. Deep cycling Li-Ion can kill the cells. There is no good reason to charge the battery and then use it as you have been doing. This just kills your battery for no reason. The MacBook is designed to cut the charge off when the battery is full and it does not hurt the battery to lie idle like this. The method you're using can prematurely kill your battery.
Either the battery has a problem that is not showing on you readings or the battery circuit is fried. Do you know someone that has a MacBook or live near an Apple store so you can test your battery on a known good MacBook. Or you could try one of their batteries in it.

  • Dv6928us: Laptop not running in Battery, '0% available, Plugged in, not charging' but fine in power

Product No. dv6928us: Laptop is not running in Battery. Battery icon indicates, '0% available, Plugged in, not charging' even when the battery is inserted. But the laptop works fine in power mode.
Battery check indicates: "The primary battery was not detected. Check to assure the battery is properly inserted then restart the computer'.
Execution of this did not help.
Can anybody tell me whether battery life is over or loose connection in battery placement?

Try updating The BIOS and then try it again. BIOS (latest): http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-62510-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&... If that fails to fix it, the battery will need replaced (if you want to) or ignored.

  • PB will not run on battery-RePost

Sorry, but I posted this under the battery and power section w/o a response.
A coworkers 12" PB will not run off the battery. As soon as she removes the power cord it shuts off. New working battery was purchased and used.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

There are 3 components to the charging circuit: The power adapter, the battery, and the logic board (and within that the dc-in card).
When the battery is installed, what does it say about it in the system profiler (click blue apple, about this mac, more info, power)? What's the fully charged vs current capacity? Even though it's new, how many cycles are on the battery? When you push the button on the battery, how many lights light up?
You might have the person try resetting the power management unit (PMU), following directions at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449
If you know for a fact the power adapter is working, and that the battery is fully charged, then it's either a dc-in card problem (this is the card which has the plug the power adapter plugs into) or a logic board issue.

  • PB will not run on battery alone

Hello, a coworkers 12" PB will not run off the battery. As soon as she removes the power cord it shuts off. Any ideas? She is kind of tight on money and i am new to Mac.
    Thanks

Battery status can be checked this way:
Click on the Apple logo, select "About this Mac", click on "More information" button and have a look at the power information shown on the newly opened window (within "Hardware" section).
Maybe you can post the battery conditions listed there for further clarification.
As stated by Malicious DreD, batteries are losing capacity over time and the PB will simply shut down to prevent data loss when battery is empty.

  • Battery showing 100% charge, but not running off battery

I have an Hp Pavilion 10 Touchsmart that shows a 100% battery charge, but will not run off the battery when I unplug the AC adaptor.   I have tried calibrating the battery which went okay. I have tried uninstalling the microsoft driver for the battery and reinstalling it and it did not fix the problem.I have also checked the "Battery Report" using the cmd prompt. The battery report showed everything was charging good with the battery on the laptop for many days.I checked the "Energy Report" using the cmd prompt. The energy report had some warnings, but it was all relating to energy use.I have owned this little computer for less than a year and it should not be giving me this much trouble. At this point, I think I have done everything I can do on my end especially since I cannot remove the battery without disassembling the laptop.  I do not think it is a bad battery unless it is defective because the computer sees very little use and it is less than a year old so I am thinking a software problem. Any additional suggestions?

It is my understanding Hp warranty is only 90 days which means it is not under warranty. I have owned the laptop for less than a year with it shipped by Hp on "Thur 9/18/2014 5:15 pm". I orginally thought it was not under warranty, but I just tried a Hp warranty status site and it said "2015-10-23" was the warranty expire date.

  • HP Pavilion battery healthy and charged but laptop is not running on battery

A serious and odd problem has developed with my Pavilion (HP 15-N096EA PC)
I removed the battery when the machine was switched off and pressed the start button as this procedure was suggested on a site for clearing malware issues.
Since then, my laptop has refused to run on battery. Behaves as if there was no battery in it. The Pavilion is relatively new, the battery is in perfect condition, charges to 100% and keeps the machine running for up to 6-8 (!) hours. Not kidding.
Even now, the mains connection charges the battery, the little icon says so in the system tray. It is now 100% charged.
But when I unplug the mains adaptor the whole thing dies immediately.
I applied electric contact cleaning liquid to the connection ends of the battery, even measured the voltage in the battery with the tipped ends of a volt meter. All reading perfect values, yet the computer has stopped working from battery.
An hour ago this computer worked completely well on battery, but since the current "draining" exercise absolutely nothing. Tried all sorts of options: Taking battery in and out while on mains, nothing doing. If I am correct, battery calibration can only happen with the computer running on battery and this computer refuses to run on any battery.
What has happened here please? ANY HINT,ADVICE, SUGGESTION from professionals, non-professionals most desired and appreciated. Thanks.

  • Hp zv5242qv laptop with windows vista will not run on battery but will run on power adapter

Hello, I have a HP zv5242qv pavilion zv5000 series laptop with windows vista installed. I can run it on the power adapter with and without the battery installed but it will not power up on just the battery, the battery is new and fully charged. When I plug in the power adapter the battery light on the front of the laptop comes o then goes off, anyone have any ideas about my problem ?

    Hello,
The situation you describe looks like the unit has problems with the battery, but you say the battery is new and is fully charged.
Then, the issue might be with the system board and maybe there isn't anyhting you can do.
You can try to remove the battery and the ac adapter, and keep the power button pressed for 30 seconds, then connect the ac adapter, turn on the unit, then when in windows put the battery in place, see how it is detected, the power level and restart the PC. See if the unit restarts with the battery in place, if yes, then shutdown the unit.
See what happens and report back.

Hi, I have another MB 13" I am working on. Runs fine on AC, but the minute I pull the AC out nothing.
    Running Snow Leopard.
I tried resetting the PRAM and resetting the SMC - Nothing.
Anyone know of a quick fix?

Hey Jason, many thanks for your help. Below you will find the info requested. I have used another MB to charge the battery, and I also changed the DC Connect Board, and earlier in the day changed the battery Connect cable. Still no luck. Someone suggested calibrating the battery, although I have never heard of that and do not know how to do it, do you by chance?

  • HDX 18T-1200CTO can not run on battery power alone, but runs on AC fine

I recently acquired a HP HDX X18T-1200 CTO, with 2.53GHz P8700 processor and 8GB memory. Everything appears to run fine as long as it is on AC power. As soon as I remove the power cable it will go into the power on reset, and will continue loop on power reset cycle.
I tried to remove the two hard drives but that won't change the situation.
I tried to boot up the PC using CDROM and it behaved the same way. Runs fine with AC, but immediately go to reset once the AC adapter power cord is removed.
BIOS Memory diagnostic and hard drive diagnostic test ran fine.
BIOS is upgraded from F.31 to F.34 (no change in behavior).
    Thanks for helping!

    Hi there @ehuang99
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
I understand that you are having trouble with power when running on your battery. I am happy to assist you with this. Since the unit runs well with the AC power connected,  you have to check and be sure the battery is charging correctly, or if there is perhaps a bad or intermittent contact for the battery. Check through these pages and see if anything is applicable. Also make note of any error messages, LED flash patterns, that sort of thing. Let me know what you see.

Also you can try these, but I expect the problem is more the power stage for the battery.

  • T60 charges battery but will not run on battery

    Background:
T60 purchased on EBAY approx a month ago by my friend. I have been trying to solve his battery problem, and am out of ideas.
    Battery charges appropriately.
Unit will not boot or run onbattery.  If running, and adapter pulled, it goes off immediately.
    OS is Windows 7 Ultimate.
Things I have tried or verified:
    Updated drivers from Lenovo support
Put T60 battery in my own R61E and the battery functions fine.  Discharge it a bit, put it back in the T60 and it charges but won't run.
Put my R61E battery in the T60, won't run.
Have uninstalled and installed the drivers.
Have checked driver files on the T60 against the driver files on my R40 and all files are the same size and date.
I have been through the Lenovo boards, but can't find a solution.  I am beginning to think it might be hardware.
    Please say it isn't so.
    Thanks
    Art

It's OK, I'm not a spring chicken myself...
With that said, it sounds like some of the power circuitry on the T60's motherboard has been damaged. There's really no easy way of fixing this type of issue. Motherboard swap would likely be the least complicated route to take if you can't return the machine.
    Good luck.
    Cheers,
    George

  • IBook won't run on battery

    Hi Folks
Wondering if someone can point me in the right direction here. I have an iBook G3 900 mhz model that I just replace the logic board in (video issue). The ibook runs great now, but all of a sudden it won't work with out the power adapter plugged in. I thought maybe the battery went bad, but I checked it in my other iBook and it is fine.
I bought the Logic board at a discount because it had a missing plug in connector, which is the one that connects from the Logic board to the power button. I soldered it back on and powered up the Laptop fine. and it even worked with just the battery for a short while, but now only works with the adapter. Should I open it up and re solder the connection, or is this another issue?
    Thanks
    Don

    Hey Don,
I have an iBook G3 900 mhz model that I just replace the logic board in (video issue).
Just curious. Did the GPU chip die? or was it the BGA issue? I repair and donate iBooks to inner city school teachers.
it had a missing plug in connector, which is the one that connects from the Logic board to the power button. I soldered it back on and powered up the Laptop fine.
Wow good job! That's not easy to do. BTW that plug would have nothing to do with the not running on battery problem. It's part of the "soft start" circuit.
This is from the service manual for the 900:
"The computer runs when plugged into a wall outlet but not on battery power
    1. Reseat battery to verify battery is seated correctly with battery lock engaged.
    2. Try known-good charged battery.
    3. Reset the power manager by pressing the key combination Control-Option-Shiftpower.
Warning: Make sure you do not hold down the "fn" key when resetting the
    power manager.
Warning: Resetting the power manager will permanently remove a RAM disk, if
present, and all of its contents. You will also need to reset the date and time
(using the Date & Time control panel).
    4. Replace logic board."
That "power manager" they speak of is a PMU 99 which I believe is CMOS and very sensitive to static charges.

  • Satellite A100-538 wont run on battery anymore

I've had an A100-538 for a week now. Yesterday evening I was working on it (AC-power)and then I left the house for about half an hour, leaving the laptop on. When I came back the computer was off and I heard a soft ticking noise. (I'm sure it hasn't got anything to do with the Toshiba Power Saver) I couldn't restart it at that moment.
After about half an hour I was able to turn it back on again and it seems to be allright again. But..... it won't run on the battery anymore. According to the system tray icon the battery is full 100%, yet when I disconnect the power adapter the computers goes dead instantly. What made the computer go off in the first place and why won't it run on the battery anymore?

The problem is the cover is what pushes backpressure on the battery to keep it in place. Some of them were designed as .5mm instead of 1mm so the pressure is not enough to hold the hdd in place. Changing the cover fixes this issue. Because the hdd slips out slightly it can cause a short circuit across the battery charging terminals meaning it will not run on battery. Changing this cover should resolve any problems. But you could also have a bad battery as well now. Hopefully nothing else was harmed because of this. I hope you fix the problem quickly. Have a nice day.
