MB Pro and latest TB update: no more TB disks available

Hi, I just applied the lates Thunderbolt update (1.2? - 132Kbytes) and I'm not able anymore to see my TB Lacie Little Disks. I tried several SMC resets and several PRAM resets. No way.
Any help?
TIA Simon

Did you ever get resolution on this from Plantronics? I've contacted their tech support a few times, but they are terrible. They just tell me "I don't know what would cause that" and say it's Apple's problem. I sent them a link to your post stating that they could reproduce the problem, but the guy said he didn't know anything about that. Plantronics tech support doesn't seem to know much about anything.

i have an ipod 2g and i cant update it more then 4.1 why?

To go to iOS 4.2.1 you need iTunes 10 or later on the computer. If a Mac that requires OSX 10,5,8 or later.
To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

All iPhones sold in Japan are sold carrier locked and cannot be officially unlocked by the carrier. If you unlocked it, it was by unauthorized means (hacked), and support cannot be given to you in this forum.
Hacked iPhones are subject to countermeasures by Apple, particularly when updating the firmware. It is likely permanently re-locked or permanently disabled.

I'm running 10.5.8 on a MacBook Pro and need to update to Java 7 to take software assessment tests online for a potential job. What can I do?

Apple Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 10
Apple Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 17
    Apple Java 2013-005
I would suggest you upgrade your computer's OS minimally to Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
    A. Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
    B. Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

I have a late 2011 macbook pro running OSX Lion, and it wont update the firmware to 2.7, it downloads the update then says its installing it but when i go back to software update it keeps coming up saying it needs to be updated. Im wondering what can i do to stop this or get it to update.

Once it is downloaded you need to restart the computer if it does not restart automatically. When it next starts up you should note a progress bar appearing below the Apple logo. When done the computer will restart once more. The new firmware should now be installed.

  • Pros and cons of updating firmware 1.01.03 to 1.11.01 on Zen Micro

I have a Zen Micro 5.0 gb unit with original firmware of .0.03. It works fine with no problems except for the 24 hour standby time. I use Red Chair Notmad software to add or delete mp3's and drag and drop worksreally well for me. If I update the firmware to ..0 I can eliminate the24 hour standby time and cut it down to the 4 hour time. If I do this will I run into any of the problems that I read about in this forum when people update to the latest firmware of 2.2.02, or will I stillhave a steady, reliable firmware with the .0.0 with the addition of the 4 hour standby? Also can I still use the red Chair Notmad software(the latest version) and it still work like my current firmware? Please give me your pros and cons about this. Thanks a lot,?Jim

There are no real cons. ..0 is very stable.
I use Notmad with it and it works great. However, now that Creative has made an MTP driver for pre-Windows XP machines, the 2.x series firmware looks like a decent alternati've, though I haven't tried it.Message Edited by Lyle_JP on 03-23-2006:56 AM

  • Are you having problems with Windows XP Pro and Airport Utility Updates?

I was having problems with my wireless laptop setting up my Bonjour Printer. I checked to make sure I had downloaded the latest updates to Airport Utility and Bonjour. Check. After doing this I noticed I couldn't see my Airport Extreme through the Airport Utility. After much frustration and bringing my entire network crashing down around me, I got help from a knowledgeable guy from Cox Cable in San Diego. He helped me get my trusty iMac Power PC online. It saw my Airport Extreme but no answers were forthcoming in any forums about my XP issues. Here is what finally solved my problem. I uninstalled all Airport Utility and Bonjour Programs. I then went back to Airport Utility 5.3.1 for Windows. It installs Bonjour Printer services with this download. Everything is working perfectly again. I have my Canon Pixma MP500 connected to the USB port on my AEBS and Bonjour walked right through the setup process. I suggest that if this works for you, turn off all Airport Utility and AEBS firmware updates until you see that whatever issue Apple created with these updates gets fixed.

    Well... it worked! :D
I'm pretty sure the extra 512 memory stick was the problem, that would explain why it was being inconsistent with its type of failures before. I'm going to reinstall it later and run memtest86 and try and see if i can get it to work at all somehow without causing problems, cuz 1.5 was already low enough...
DryHeat, yeah it was with SP2 but I got it installed now so no worries
    Thanks a lot!

  • I have a used macbook pro and i cant update the apps bought on the first owners account and i need to update the apps

hi i hav a used macbook pro running mverics and i cant update the apps that were purchased by the preveous owner on a different itunes acount and i need to update the apps thanks

It appears as if the OS currently on that machine was not the original OS? If so, you are running into this problem because the seller did not do what he was supposed to do - he was supposed to erase the hard drive and reinstall the original OS. And, if he got either the OS or any apps at the app store, they are not transferable as they are tied to his Apple ID forever. That is why you will have to pay for them using your own Apple ID. And, if he obtained the current OS at the app store, you may also run into another problem: you may not be able to reinstall the OS if needed as that is tied to the original Apple ID as well.

  • Macbook Pro and iphoto/imovie updates

I have a new macbook pro and iphoto and iMovie will not update.  The error message states that the apple id is incorrect, but it's the only one I've ever used.  How can I update?

If it's new, I'm assuming you are running Mountain lion (10.8.x)?
Either click this icon in your dock, in the launchpad, or in your Applications folder:
Go to your Purchases (you will need to sign in) and see if those apps are listed there.

  • Mac Pro and Mac OS Update 10.5.2 Conflict!

I have re-installed Leopard three time already because of a conflict with my Mac Pro and apple's combined OS update for 10.5.2. After installing the update, my computer becomes unstable and eventually stops starting up properly, forcing me to partition and format the drive for a clean installation.
As a result, I am staying away from 10.5.2 and hope that future OS updates do not include such problems.
Just posting to warn others and see if anyone else had this problem. Take care!

I can't tell you have many times I've installed 10.5.2, except to say never had a problem but almost any type of conflict could occur with 3rd party hardware, software, AFP, routers or whatnot.
I would subscribe to checking news sites daily as they have collect reports, offer tips based on feedback, and see if any of it fits your situation (or "can of worms" I guess).
MacIntouch, MacFixit, Xlr8yourmac.com all have article.
Forums such as Mac OS X Leopard on Apple tend to have a number of threads, but the majority do seem to escape unscathed. So seems like every time you try, you do the same thing, get the same results. Adjust your game plan.

If you have version 5 or 6 of QuickTime Pro and new registration will be required.
If you have version 7 Pro no new registration is needed.

  • MacBook Pro and  iMAC Software update

I need some help from my Apple Junkies.... So both my MacBook Pro and my iMAC are showing that there is new software that needs to updated which are apart of the OS X 10.9.4 update combo, take it my computer is updated to 10.9.4 but in the app update section it shows I need yo update the iTunes  11.4, iBook 1.0.1 and Safari 7.0.6... Now when you look at the bottom of the updates at the "Updates installed in the last 30 days" all of the above are updated.
But the issues are: I can't get rid of that red 1 for updates (yes I've tried putting the time into the future 6 months and longer no help) and
I'm trying to restore my iPad and Apple TV which neither MacBook Pro or iMac are allowing it because it is saying unable to connect to network which clearly I'm connected to the internet... I'm using Verizon for home internet as well.
    - I've tried installing the above individually but it keeps saying calculating yet no movement left it up for over 24 hours with numerous reboots... about ready to throw both out the window..

My guess is Google did something wrong, figured it out and fixed it. The suggestions feature went away in Safari for Google, but not for bing, and continued to work in Firefox. It is all fixed this morning. I happened to be using Google when it stopped functioning, it had nothing to do with updates to the Mac, since as it went south I restarted in an earlier Snow Leopard version and discovered it was not working there either. So it was a Google action that caused the mishap, nothing that Apple did. Anyway, all's well now.
