MBAM 2.5 Error 0x803D0012

Hi,
Just installed a new MBAM 2.5 server with separate SQL server without any problems. On my test client, after applying the MBAM 2.5 GPO's I get the following error message in the eventviewer with EventID 4:
An error occurred while sending encryption status data.
Error code:
0x803D0012
Details:
The remote endpoint is unable to process the request due to being overloaded.
Does anyone have any idea on how so solve this?
Thanks.
Sander.

If the user is the member of MBAM Advanced Helpdesk User and MBAM Report Users domain security group, You don't have to mention the user-field and domain field while retrieving the recovery keys from the Helpdesk because then the user has the maximum rights
on the MBAM. The user group was "MBAM System administrators" in the earlier versions but with MBAM 2.5, those rights comes with these two particular domain security groups.
Also, all the users that has been logged on to the computer which is under recovery can only retrieve the recovery keys from the Self-Service portal. If a user has not logged on the machine which is under recovery, that particular user will not be able to
retrieve recovery keys from Self-Service Portal.
So, Yes, keys are associated to the users.
About the compliance settings, A machine shows non-compliant only because the encryption settings for he machine is not in compliance with the group policy applied on that machine. For e.g. - Encryption settings on a machine is applied to encrypt the OS
drive and Fixed drive, but only the OS drives of the machines are encrypted, the machine will show as non-compliant. The fixed drives are not encrypted so it will show as non-compliant. It has to be in accordance with the MBAM group policy applied.

what it is not able to talk to? Hardware and recovery or status recovery endpoint? is this the only machine giving problem or there are other machines as well giving you trouble?
are you able to browse the URL from this bad machine? Do this- go to HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\FVE\MDOPBitLockerManagement
there will be two URLs one to escrow the recovery password and other for client reporting. make sure you are able to browse through the URL from IE, you should something see like "meta data publishing is disabled".
if it works then you will need to check the logs from helpdesk website,

  • MBAM web site configuration failure

I've set up MBAM 2.5 on my ConfigMgr 2012 server. Its integrated with Configuration Manager and created the two data bases on the same box with Windows Server 2012 R2 and SQL 2012 with reporting services. (I've configured a working OSD windows 7 task
sequence that uses MBAM to encrypt and store the recovery key.)
Now I'm trying to install the two web sites on a second windows 2012 server that is also acting as a deployment point with pxe server.
I can connect to my reporting server with a browser from the local server without being prompted for credentials. The MBAM reports are configured and visible. I'm using the same service account for SCCM reporting services and web service application
pool domain account. I've been working this for several days and am running out of ideas.
Next I'm going to set up a new 2012 test server to act as the MBAM web server only. Maybe that will simplify things and I don't have to worry about breaking my Distribution Point. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

    I finally found the problem.
I had the reporting services url wrong.
http://sccmserver/Reports (this connects successfully but is wrong.)
The wizard would say the path was wrong so I changed it by drilling further into the report server.
    By selecting the Bitlocker folder.
Then the wizard stopped  showing the red error wrong path but it turns out it was still the wrong path.
A bit misleading. I noticed on my SCCM server in the Reporting Services Configuration Manager under Report manager URL,
http://sccmserver/ReportServer  Typed this in and finished the wizard for the first time.  :)

  • MBAM 2.5 - Websites on Port 81 - SPN Question / Kerberos Issues?

Because I'm installing the websites on a server that also has a ConfigMgr DP and MP, I'm picking a custom port during installation (port 81).  I pre-created the SPN with http/my.server.name:81 but I'm still having issues.
The installer still complains about not being able to create the SPN itself since I'm not installing as a domain administrator.  However, the warnings and log messages all say it is trying to create an SPN without the port number (http:/my.server.name).
Unfortunately, the MBAM clients are not able to check in and show errors with Event ID 2 and 4 the MBAM logs:
An error occurred while applying MBAM policies.
    Volume ID:\\?\Volume{7c3de574-d716-11e3-810f-f8b156dde320}\
    Error code:
    0x803d0005
    Details:
Access was denied by the remote endpoint.
    And
An error occurred while sending encryption status data.
    Error code:
    0x803d0005
    Details:
Access was denied by the remote endpoint.
I also get a Security-Kerberos error eventID 4 in the System Log:
The Kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server mbam-apppooluser. The target name used was HTTP/my.server.name. This indicates that the target server failed to decrypt the ticket provided by the client. This can occur when the target server principal name (SPN) is registered on an account other than the account the target service is using. Please ensure that the target SPN is registered on, and only registered on, the account used by the server. This error can also happen when the target service is using a different password for the target service account than what the Kerberos Key Distribution Center (KDC) has for the target service account. Please ensure that the service on the server and the KDC are both updated to use the current password. If the server name is not fully qualified, and the target domain (my.domain) is different from the client domain (my.domain), check if there are identically named server accounts in these two domains, or use the fully-qualified name to identify the server.
The group policies point at my.server.name:81 so I'm wondering why Kerberos is coming back with an error for http/my.server.name.
Was I not supposed to include the port number in the SPN?  Has anyone actually tried MBAM 2.5 on an alternative port?
    Thanks for the help,
    Nash

I've actually moved to a clean server and installed on port 80 to take this SPN issue off the table, and not deal with the websites not working anymore.  The clean server's web sites are accessible after signing in.
Unfortunately, although the test clients no longer show a Kerberos error in the System event logs,
the MBAM client event logs still have the 0x803d0005 error.  I don't see any errors on the MBAM Server operational logs.
The IIS logs show the request to /MBAMRecoveryAndHardwareService/CoreService.svc having a status of 200, but the request to /MBAMComplianceStatusService/StatusReportingService.svc is showing status 401.
    Thoughts?

  • Backup TPM keys to Mbam 2.5 with Pre Provisonning not working

    Hi
I am trying to save TPM owner password to Mbam 2.5 during TS, but can't get it to work.
I can see the Volume recovery keys do upload fine but not the TPM.
    Basically what I do is
Make sure TPM is enabled in BIOS
Activate TPM in Winpe with Wmi script (objItem.SetPhysicalPresenceRequest(6)) so that the TPM is enabled and active but not owned. (this looks ok in the Task Sequence status messages)
Pre-Provision Bitlocker step in the TS
I install Mbam client during the Task Sequence
When the user logs on he gets prompted for a PIN (everything fine and working at this level)
By checking what happens with manage-bde I can see that the encryption is ok (used space only),
but the TPM password is never uploaded.
    According to documentation,
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn456883.aspx, I should set a key protector, so I tried to set TPM only. I get a policy change prompt after logon but still no TPM password.
One problem I have is that I do not know exactly when the TPM ownership is taken by Mbam (or how to force it), as I don't see much info in the logs. Should the paths to the Mbam DB be defined during the TS so that the client at next reboot, uploads them
(like is the case when you start encryption with Mbam without pre provisioning) ?
I would like to keep if possible pre provisioning and used space only as I get the drives encrypted quickly and before the user gets the laptop.
Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

You are using Java import syntax. You should use @page directive in JSP pages. Refer to: http://java.sun.com/products/jsp/syntax/2.0/syntaxref2010.html
[The line "org.apache.jasper.JasperException: /result.jsp(1,4) Invalid directive"
in the stack trace tells you that there is no @import directive]

  • Surface Pro 3 - MBAM/BitLocker/TPM: "An Error Has Occurred" Issue

We are trying to implement full disk encryption using MBAM Server/Client and BitLocker. We have been successful on standard Windows 7 Ent and Windows 8.1 Ent laptops and the MBAM Console reports encrypted/compliant.
The Surface Pro 3 running Windows 8.1 Ent however has been a pain in the you-know-what! It just will not work like our laptops. The Event Viewer error we get is as follows:
"An error occurred while applying MBAM policies.
    Volume ID:\\?\Volume{dfd94fd0-206c-45d1-a19a-6a39019ada1e}\
    Error code:
    0x80310018
    Details:
You must initialize the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) before you can use BitLocker Drive Encryption."
For reference, here is our workflow:
    1. Enable TPM in UEFI.
    2. Install .NET 3.5 since this is apparently a Windows 8.1 requirement for MBAM. Reboot. Install related updates from Microsoft Update. Reboot.
    3. Verify relevant MBAM & BitLocker GPOs are applied by running "gpupdate /force" in an elevated command prompt. Reboot.
    4. Run the following elevated PowerShell commands and then reboot:
    $tpm=get-wmiobject -class Win32_Tpm -namespace root\cimv2\security\microsofttpm
    $tpm.DisableAutoProvisioning()
    $tpm.SetPhysicalPresenceRequest(22)
    5. Install MBAM Client 2.5 and KB2975636 hotfix.
    6. Run MBAMClientUI.exe and set PIN. On our laptops, encryption begins, but on the Surface Pro 3 we get a generic "An error has occurred". Event Viewer shows the above error.
Can anyone help?? There has got to be others that have used MBAM on the Surface Pro 3.

More testing today and I *think* I may have found my issue.
I failed to mention that on step 5 above, I have been rebooting after installing the MBAM Client and hotfix. It appears that this extra reboot breaks the process and does not allow the MBAM Client to initialize the TPM when running MBAMClientUI.exe. If I do
not reboot, then everything seems to work great.

  • Error: the 'MBAM Policy' view does not exist.

    MBAM 2.0 SP1 with SCCM 2012 integration:
I am receiving this error when the reports are run from the reporting services point and from inside of the SCCM console. The view that the reports are testing for does exist in the SCCM database. I do not understand why the reports are giving this error.
Each of these MBAM reports have a test for the view V_GS_MABM_POLICY :
        DECLARE @query nvarchar(70)
              SET @query = N'SELECT COUNT(EncodedComputerName0) AS Status FROM V_GS_MBAM_POLICY'
        BEGIN TRY
          EXEC(@query)
        END TRY
        BEGIN CATCH
          SELECT 0 AS Status
        END CATCH
If the Try fails then you receive the above error message in Red Font.
This view - V_GS_MBAM_POLICY does exist so I am not sure why this is occurring. I have completely redone the MBAM setup on the SCCM 2012 server after removing all the MBAM collection and reports, etc. following the instructions from this article -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2831166 I also removed the classes. I ran the setup again - just the SCCM integration feature and it gives me the same results. Some have suggested that the inventory has
to be collected by the clients first before these reports work and that doesn't appear to be the case. This red font error message is only shown if the view is not reachable. Anyone have any ideas?

I was mistaken, the view is queried for a count and if 0, it displays that error message. So it may be correct that this is normal until the first clients return data that populates the MBAM/Bitlocker tables.

  • An error has occurred after upgrading from MBAM 1.0 to 2.0

The upgrade went fine, uninstalled MBAM v1.0 from SQL and IIS servers, rebooted servers and re-installed with MBAM v2.0.  However, now when I go to the webportal every page shows the "An error has occurred" message.
I've checked the webconfig files under the Help Desk Website folder and it's got our server path in it.  the webportal was working before the upgrade.

Good to hear it was a simple fix. I'm about to upgrade our production environment tomorrow night. Going from MBAM 1.0 to 2.0 SP1. Not sure where you upgraded from, but did you run into any issues. I've been looking and haven't seen anyone encounter any
real issues. We are not doing the SCCM integration btw.

  • MBAM 2.5 SSRS SSL Error

    Greetings,
I am in the process of building MBAM 2.5 and have encountered a critical stopping point when setting up the Reports feature for SSRS.  The following specifics relate to my infrastructure:
    - MBAM 2.5 Standalone on Windows 2012 R2 Standard
    - SQL 2012 SP1 Enterprise (default instance) on a 2 node cluster using Windows 2012 R2 Standard
    - Third party wildcard SSL server certificate installed on both Windows servers
    - SSRS is installed in native mode using the default instance
    - SSRS web service URL is bound to the certificate on port 443 and port 80 is disabled
The issue appears during the installation of the MBAM Reports feature.  I receive confirmation that all prerequisites have been met but after inputting the configuration information on the next screen, the following error appears:
"Unable to connect to the Reporting Services web service.  Error message: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel."
The event viewer logs 2 event ID 800 errors:

I have verified the certificate using Internet Explorer and visiting the SSRS URI.  Each certificate in the chain comes back as OK so I'm unsure why the error reports "the remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure".
Any guidance on resolving this error would be greatly appreciated so that I can proceed with this project.  Thanks,
    Som

    Hi Mark,
I ended up finding an answer (and should have posted it here).  The steps on
this page were what got the problem resolved.  I'm fuzzy on why the "strong wildcard" (+) character worked with some resources and not others, but changing the ssl binding to the actual fqdn helped for me.
Pay special attention to michael12345's response at the bottom of the page.  Once I did the following
    2. Delete the reservations with:
     netsh http delete urlacl url=https://+:443/ReportServer/
     netsh http delete urlacl url=https://+:443/Reports/
    3. Create new ones with:
netsh http add urlacl url=https://mydomain.com:443/ReportServer user=MYSERVER\MyAccout
netsh http add urlacl url=https://mydomain.com:443/Reports user=MYSERVER\MyAccout
Here is an additional resource regarding the strong wildcard character.
    Good luck!

  • MBAM 2.0 with SCCM Integration: Recovery Audit Reports errors.

I have installed MBAM 2.0 with SCCM integration according to the following website:
    http://myitforum.com/myitforumwp/2013/06/10/how-to-install-mbam-2-0-with-configmgr-integration/
    Topology:
    SCCM 2012
    SCCM SQL Server
    MBAM Server
    MBAM SQL Server
    Components installed:
Integration components on SCCM 2012 server
Compliance and Audit Reports on SCCM SQL Server
Recovery and Audit Databases on MBAM SQL Server
Self-Service and Administration Monitoring on MBAM Server
Everything is running correctly: SCCM sees compliance reports, keys are populating into the Recovery database. Self-service works correctly as tested.
However, the Recovery Audit Report in the /Helpdesk webpage reports an error:
"Cannot create a connection to data source 'DataSource1'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
Browsing to the /Reports page on the MBAM SQL server (with reporting) yields an empty page.
If I install the Audit and Compliance reports onto the MBAM SQL server, those populate (but are empty, as SCCM is handling that component), however, the Recovery Audit Report still yields the same error.
    Ideas?
    Thanks,
    -Patrick

You can put the Audit Reports on the SSRS instance on SCCM Server. But it has its own limitations. What if you want to configure the encrypted configuration within the MBAM environment using SSL certificate. In that case you have to take special
care while using the SSL certificate for configuring the reporting Point as it has been also used by the SCCM.
    Gaurav Ranjan
So, let me get this clear, I can install the Audit Reports onto the SRSS I am using for SCCM and not have to deploy an SRSS instance elsewhere?  The SSL certificate detail is not an issue.  I am desperately trying to avoid yet another instance of
    SRSS.
    Thanks

  • MBAM - SCCM 2012 Reports - Error: the 'MBAM Policy' view does not exist

    Hi
I have installed MBAM with SCCM 2012 integration. A single server install with SQL server 2012. Mostly it has gone smoothly and laptops are being encrypted and pins stored and recoverable. The problem I have is reports are not showing. I get the following
    error message.
"Error: the 'MBAM Policy' view does not exist"
Any ideas why this is? I get the same error message with all 4 reports.

    Hi Slycy,
There is another thread that seems to be a similar issue
here that may help you. The last post in particular has a number of steps that you can use to speed up creation of the views:
Just for future reference, there are quite a few things that have to happen before the view is created. This is merely how CM works.
    Make MBAM MOF changes
Select TPM spec version in hardware inventory
    Install MBAM CM Integration feature
Perform a machine policy refresh cycle on a client to get the MOF changes that need to be inventoried
    Perform hardware inventory
Update MBAM Supported Computers collection membership.  The machine should appear if it meets the criteria
Run another machine policy refresh on the client so that the Configuration Baseline will come down
Make sure that the MBAM agent has woken up once
    Evaluate the Configuration Baseline
The MBAM views should be created now.
You don't have to do this for every machine, but this is the process to speed it up.  If you let CM do it, it could take over a week before the view is created the first time, depending on when Hardware inventory runs, etc.
    Hope this helps,
    David

    Ours is SSRS 2012.
URL http://yourserver.fqdn.com:/ReportServer will not work, needs the path to the ConfigMgr reports after ReportServer
    Steve O'Connor
    MCP MCITP MCSA
    My Blog
The URL http://server.fqdn.com/ReportServer is correct. I believe the reason for the error is you have to provide permission to the MBAM service accounts within the SSRS panel found at
http://server.fqdn.com/Reports. There are two places where you can add security and permissions from within SSRS reports URL (Site Settings).
One way you can tell you are going to have an issue before even beginning the MBAM configuration wizard is to enter the
http://server.fqdn.com/ReportServer URL in IE from the MBAM server. If you are prompted for credentials the installation wizard will certainly fail. So, you need to verify that the service account you used in
the SSRS configuration has admin rights on the MBAM server, and hat the MBAM service account that you are using have admin access to the SSRS server.
I think it is clear the issues most of us in this tread are having are permissions based... it is just figuring out where that permissions issue is that is the problem.
See points 5 and 6 of this KB, if you can't hit the SSRS URLs from MBAM server's IE - you're going to get a failure.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2668533
EDIT, WE HAVE RESOLVED THE ISSUE!
In this MBAM 2.5 server configuration guide we inadvertently added a setting that was meant for SINGLE SERVER configuration, while we are using a MULTIPLE SERVER configuration. Link - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn645331.aspx
    We added
    2. Add <RSWindowsNegotiate/> to the rsreportserver.config file as follows:
Which broke the app. We went back and removed <RSWindowsNegotiate/> from rsreportserver.config and it worked without issue.
