MBP takes long time to restore wired network connection after wake-up

Hello...
My Mid-2010 MBP (MacBookPro6,2) has been experiencing this problem recently -- Whenever I wake up the computer from sleep, it needs approximately 10 seconds to restore its wired network connection. I know there are other annoying connection issues with MBP's WiFi/AirPort out there, but I'm talking about the wired connection here.
Maybe some don't even think this slowness is a problem at all, but this laptop used to be network-ready right after wake-up until 3~4 months ago. That was around the time when I upgraded to SSD and changed some settings via pmset, not sure if that's the culprit. It is now running OS X 10.8.5 and its pmset settings are:
Battery Power:
lidwake              1
ttyskeepawake        1
hibernatemode        3
gpuswitch            2
hibernatefile        /var/vm/sleepimage

acwake               0

I'd appreciate help of any kind
Thanks,

Maybe try this, i am not sure that it will resolve the problem, but it is worth trying anyways.

Hi All,
I've seen this problem multiple times, especially with Windows 7 64-bit versions and Enterprise edition.  The source of the problem appears to be the Bonjour service that is installed in the background and set to "Automatic" when installing certain 3rd
party applications.  Apple applications like iTunes and Adobe applications like Acrobat Professional and Creative Suites have been known to cause this problem.  I've also seen virtualization software like VMWare and VirtualBox cause similar issues
with network adapters.
The solution in most of the cases I've come across has been to stop and disable the Bonjour service.  The Bonjour service also masquerades as a service with a name of the format "##Id_String1.6844F930_blahblahblah".  Here's how to disable this service
in Windows 7:
Right-Click on Computer > Select 'Manage'
Expand the 'Services and Applications' section in the bottom of the Left-Nav dialog and Select 'Services'
Sort the Services list by name and look for either "Bonjour" or the "##Id_String..." name mentioned above
Right-Click on the service and select 'Properties'
Click the 'Stop' button to stop the service
Select 'Disabled' from the 'Startup type' drop down list
Click 'Apply' and then 'OK'
Reboot your machine and see if the "Multiple Networks" issue is resolved.  If so, you should have internet connectivity again.
Hope this helps.
cheers,

  • Windows takes an obscenely long time to establish a network connection after booting

    Often, when I reboot my machine for whatever reason, it boots up normally, I log in, it shows my desktop, loads all the icons and then takes upwards of 5 minutes or longer for the networking icon in the taskbar so show that I have network access (shows that
    little blue ring).  Now, normally I wouldn't think this is much of a problem since I've found a blog at one point detailing how to change the address it's using for that confirmation.  However, in this case, I'm unable to use (m)any other windows
    services until it decides I'm connected.
    For instance, I'm unable to open the registry editor - I'll open the start menu, search for regedit and run it, but will no longer be able to use the search tool in the Start menu until the registry editor appears and that won't appear until the network
    configuration decides I'm connected.  If I open a browser (doesn't matter if it's Firefox, Chrome or IE), I'm unable to visit any sites - they say I'm not connected.  I'm unable to open the Network and Sharing center at all - if I try to left or
    right click the network icon in the taskbar, nothing happens.  If I try to visit the Network and Sharing center by typing the address in a folder window, it simply never loads until that icon shows I'm connected.
    In other words, my computer is pretty unusable until Windows decides I do have an internet connection.  A little about that - I've had this problem for about a month now and have experienced it while connected via wire to two different routers (Netgear,
    now Linksys E3000).  That doesn't seem to be the problem. My connection is perfectly fine at all other times except when my system boots (so it shouldn't be the wires) and I've both kept myself updated with all the latest Win7 patches and firmware for
    the netword card + other system components.  Oh, and no other computer on my network has this networking issue.
    My system is running Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1.
    Any thoughts?  Thanks in advance!

  • MBP takes long time to shut down

    Hi,
    Recently my 13" Mid 2012 MacBook Pro has been taking around 30-40 seconds to shut down whereas it only took 3 seconds before. The system itself is as responsive as ever and the OS and hardware seem to be working well, but the hard drive seems to be taking a long time to stop. Please help. This is very worrying.

    This has been a problem for a while now and I tried deleting the harddrive and reinstalling all of my software but it didn't work.  Safari can work for a while but regularly freezes up so I have to force quit and reopen.  Some applications like Pages don't even open most of the time and the icon just continues to bounce endlessly.  I upgraded the software recently but it's still a problem.  Does anyone know what the issue might be?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Why outlook2011 mac version* takes long time to boot with OSX

    why outlook2011 mac version* takes long time to boot with OSX

    Okay, so after doing all of the above, the computer still takes between 40 seconds and 1 minute or so to boot up, and the VersionCue messages still appear. However I discovered that the "kdcmond cannot retrieve..." messages disappeared after I disabled my ethernet connections. So at least I know that that had nothing to do with the extended boot-up time.
    I have heard that the more RAM you have, the longer it takes to boot due to the RAM count. Since I have 10 GB, maybe this is why?

    Do you mean you are doing the export and import? If so, check the session and see what it's waiting on (V$SESSION_WAIT). Or put a trace and see where it's hanging. It may be doing the statistics gathering or waiting on something
    You need to give us all information. When you mean restore, we will think of database restore (RMAN or user-managed restore). So please supply all details in relation to what you are doing along with the database version and OS.

    I just got an iPhone 5 32GB and i have backed up my old 3GS 32GB via itunes (20GB of data on there) and it is taking a very long time to restore to my iPhone5. Its taken more than 20 hours and didnt complete.
    The text "Time remaining ... hours" flickers.
    I set it to start restoring from the 3GS backup yesterday at 1pm and the time remaining kept on increasing. I left it overnight and at 9am this morning the progress bar hadnt moved and it said 12 hours remaining.
    I don't know why its taking so long. I unplugged it and it just set up as new phone. So i did a factory reset and tried again at 4pm and it is now 12am and it says 4 hours remaining and my computer occasionally flickers. (Its not a bad computer, 2 months old, i7, 6GB RAM, Heaps of HDD space). It also messes with google chrome and i cannot browse the web at all while it is trying to restore my iphone.
    I have tried restarting my laptop and should i reinstall itunes? I simply dont see why it should take longer than 20 hours to copy over 20GB of data!
    Can anyone help me?
    Thank you

    I'm having this EXACT same problem with my iPhone 4, and I have the same computer stats (I have a Samsung Series 7)

    Enough disk space is also avaliable (70% avaliable).
    Enteries in resources are also very few just 20 numbers.

    Last week i had faced issue that application freezes while loading resource page so i had restarted application and it was working.
    May i know, what will be reason to take long time to load resorce page and possible solution.

  • JCO creation takes long time

    Hi,
    There is some problem with our portal while creating JCo Connection.
    It takes very long time to create new JCo connection on development server . If i create Jco connection of same applicationon on other server(Qlty, prod), it takes very less time than development.
    I am facing this problem from last few weeks, before it was working fine.
    Regards,
    Jigar Oza

    Hi,
    If the JCO connection creation is taking long time on development compared qlty, prod servers then it may be due to various reasons;
    1. The H/W , system performance may not good.
    2. Web server applications may be hanging up due to insufficient buffer, speed;
    3. The Network you are using may not fast;
    So please chk all of them & get support from ur basis team;

  • Why the LMS topology Service takes long time to reflect the device availability status?

    In the topology services map, the color status of the router takes long time to move from red to green and vice versa.
    i have already configured the time interval in the fault monitor poller setting to 6minutes but the only thing reflected the little mark at the top of the icon itself. anyhow the topology service still believe that the devices are unreachable. i have waited almost 45 minutes and nothing happened.
    please let me known the trick to make the topology services act more quicker .
    Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App

    Topology Services isn't really designed to be a near real time network device up/down tool. It will an change icon's status as a result an ANI engine polling cycle or an admin operator-initiated manual device rediscovery. While you can increase the frequency of polling cycles, that's not usually such a good idea as you could make the server be polling constantly and never completing a job.
    To ascertain near real time fault status one should refer to the Fault Dashboard.

  • Why it takes long time to download and udates for iphone4

    why it takes long time to download and updates for iphone4 ?

    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    Why do you need this if you are going to Oracle. Try
    removing this. It might be trying things out with the
    old driver and then moving to the new driver. This has nothing to do with it. (And it doesn't "try things out")

    Also check your machines. They might be slow. There is
    no reason, it should take more than few hundred
    milliseconds to connect to a database on localhost as
    your case is.Possible reasons...
    - Network traffic
    - Faulty router/gateway
    - Busy server
    - Faulty network card (either end)
    - Conflict with another box

  • Why it takes long time to establish Database Connection ???

    Can any one please have a look on the following code snippet and show me which mistake I'm doing so it take long time to connect to DB(more than 5 minutes !!!!)
    Thanx in advance ...
    try{
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
    String dbString2 = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@" + "127.0.0.1" + ":" + "1521" + ":" + "nat";
    aCon = DriverManager.getConnection(dbString2, "scott", "tiger");
    stmt = aCon.createStatement();
    System.out.println("Connection to DB Established");
    catch (ClassNotFoundException cnfe)
    System.out.println("Class not found:");
    cnfe.printStackTrace();
    catch (SQLException sqle)
    System.out.println("SQL Exception: " + sqle.toString());
    sqle.printStackTrace();
