MBP went to sleep during mavericks update. Please help!!

A friend was downloading the mavericks update and his MBP went to sleep in the middle of it. Needless to say it now boots up in recovery mode.
I can access his Hard disk with my MBP and thunderbolt in target disk mode. with mine in target disk mode I can startup his computer with my ssd and access his drive through disk drill pro 2. it says i can rebuild his hard drive using the software but I dont know if it will format his drive. he wants pics and music off of it.
If there is another way to go about this please let me know.

You should make a backup of his critical files if at all possible, but if the issue was simply with the OS install during the update and the machine is now booting to Recovery, you should be able to reinstall the OS from Recovery without impacting the existing files on his hard drive:

i guess you could put the aiport utility app on your iphone, click on the aiport express there, it will show you how many devices are connected to it and the mac addresses of those devices.

Try this:
Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

AIR 3.0 for iOS. My app doesn't go to sleep/iddle mode. Please help

I have created application in Flash Professional CS5.5 for iOS(iPad) and using AIR3.0, and currently I am at stage of finish and submit to Apple app store.
I noticed that my application is not going to sleep/iddle mode when I run it, then I added:
NativeApplication.nativeApplication.systemIdleMode = SystemIdleMode.NORMAL;
but it doesn't work and it is still not going to sleep mode even I set Settings > Auto-Lock > 2 Minutes from iPad.
I have created another testing application with SystemIdleMode.NORMAL and it is working Ok and device is going to sleep/iddle mode.
Please help me what to do or advice what prevents system to go iddle mode. Thanks

There is no supported method to downgrade iOS.
Put the device in DFU mode and restore. Be aware, ALL iPhones require a valid SIM for activation. The SIM does not need to be for an active account, but it must be a SIM from the carrier the device is locked to.

During the update process; however, something happened and the computer started not recognizing the device now. On the device screen there is a symbol asking for me to connect the cable to itunes but even if I connect it to the computer, the device is not recognized. Resetting the device didn't solve the problem. Could you please help?

Tried DFU mode? This stands for Device Firmware Update and/or Download Firmware Upgrade.
This is how to put your device into DFU:
1. Connect to A computer with iTunes open, Turn off (Whilst still connected)
2. Hold Home + Sleep/wake together for 10 seconds.
3. Let go of sleep wake BUT keep holding home for 10 seconds.
This shoould result in a message on your PC/Mac screen. Follow the steps and it should work. Let me know of the results.

I noticed from the pics that your location setting is "untitled." Have you tried the "Automatic" setting? Run the diagnostic test? Results?
Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number. Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem. unplug it for about 10 seconds. Plug it back in. Do the same for Apple’s routers. Wait for everything to reboot.

Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

System went to sleep during burn

I didn't allow enough awake time during a DVD burn on Toast 7, system went to sleep about 2 minutes from the end of the burn, how can I wake it up and finish the job, as none of the keys appear to work, only the mouse cursor, is the burn a disaster and will I have to reboot ?

As Duane points out, your screen will go dark during a burn but using Toast it will continue the burn a will verify the burn. Remember it is a good idea to burn only and do not have or use other applications during the burn proccess.
I have burned many many times and the screen goes dark every time and you will get a ding at the end of the burn and again at the end of verification when your project is complete.

Yes, i'v already signed in apple & the iCloud is on as usual, but it is still not working.
I have no problem to download the new app or redownload the apps I'v purchased before at 'search tab', but I can't get a list of my previous purchased but not installed on my iPhone Apps at the 'Updates/Purchases tab' in App Store. I never had this problem until I updated my iPhone 4S software from iOS 5 to iOS 6.
