MDM 5.5 SP04 Java API and Web Service Documentation

Is there documentation available that reflects the SP04 changes to the Java API, and the web services that are now available?
As of this morning, service marketplace contained spotty SP04 docs.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Mike,
A cookbook would be wonderful (I think our developers would throw a party)!
An updated object model (as a preface to the user guide) for the legacy API (MDM4J.jar) AND the new "rebranded" API (mdm-*.jar) would also work.
I've been reduced to comparing the SP3 & SP4 javadocs
One fun approach that appears to be working for us, is to model each process using the DataManager, and try to duplicate that exactly via the corresponding API objects (e.g. the simple Connect-Find Table-Search Table-View Result Set-View Record-CheckOut/Upsert/Validate/CheckIn dance).  New features in the DataManager reveal themselves a little more readily
Good luck,
...Dee

  • Java API or Web Service for PDF generator for PostScript?

    Hello Guys,
    We acquired the evaluation version of the LiveCycle PDF generator for PostScript software and are in the process of acquiring information regarding the web-service / java api option but we can't seem to find extensive documentation or sample code.
    The provided documentation gives some information on the different methods that can be used for web service but nothing extensive on how to use them properly in context. The documentation mentions java code samples on the developer ressource but I can't seem to get my hands on anything useful.
    I looked around for quite some time on the developer ressource site but I must say it is not very easy to use. We are buried under a ton of useless information and the search functionality doesn't seem to yield interresting results.
    Are we missing something obvious?
    Regards
    Jeff Michaud

    Hi Jeff, I am in the exact same situation... I've been trying to find a document, just an overall user guide for the tool... nothing.
    Even on the phone no one was able to answer me where that doc was. Does it exist?
    Has anyone found a doc containing the information describing the APIs and on how to use the Web Services? Jeff, did you find something usefull yet?
    Thanks!

  • Java API for Web Services

    I have a .NET web service and want to make a JAVA API to communicate with the .NET webservice. Is there an easy API that will deal with the SOAP packaging and accomplish the communication for me?

    I'm not sure If I understand you question, but you should be able to take the WSDL description of the .NET web service, point your favorite java development environment at it (either locally or via a URL) and say generate me a WS client for that.
    Most environments include this as one of their tutorials.
    There are also command line tools.

  • Best Way to Expose our JAVA API as web service

    we have develop an API and now, we want these API available as web services. the API abstracts the developer from database connection and the developer has to only concern himself of the object model. our problem with this API is that if we distribute this to our co-developers, their applications will be connecting directly to our database. but if we have this as a webservice, the connections to the databse will be isolated between the host that's running the webservice and the database.
    what's the best way to move these API/objects to webservices? what are our options?
    thanks,

    You can pretty much put anything you want into a web service. But remember they are designed for network/internet calls so it might make sense to bulk wrap your API calls. Due to the large amount of XML that is required by a web service if your API is large and you will have many webservices you probably want to get a tool that can generate this for you.

  • The Oracle Database Programming using Java and Web services book is out

    This book http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1555583296 shows how to build pragmatic applications using the combination of PL/SQL, Java in the database, JDBC, SQLJ, JPublisher, and Web services. It is intented for database developers, DBA, data architects, Java developers and Web services assemblers.
    My blog http://db360.blogspot.com/ and the free/sample chapter http://www.oracle.com/technology/books/pdfs/mensah_ch1.pdf will give you a feel of the content.
    Enjoy, Kuassi

    Hi Kuassi,
    Thanks for letting us know that your book is available. I have been following one of your articles about "Virtualize Your Oracle Database with Web Services". More specifically "The Database as Web Services Consumer". I think that this is an area that has in the past been under estimated as to the potential benefits.
    I am currently trying to develop a solution that consumes several interfaces with a couple of them being published web services, so an ideal solution. I have then spent the last three weeks having to read up about the architecture of Java in the database, Jpublisher and make sense of how it all works together.
    I have got very close to getting one of the web services to work but failed due to using 10gR2 where all the java & libraries has moved to version 1.5. The solution is to load the jdk1.4.2 and configure jpublisher to use this. So far so good except this is not available on some platforms, Windows - 64 bit (not itanium).
    The configuration is proving very challenging but will hopefully reap rewards.
    (Thought I would give you some background to my experience).
    Anyway my question to you is having looked at Jdeveloper it appears to do almost anything except consume services into the database, also with Java now being at version 1.5 outside the database for 10gR2 and supporting 1.4 inside, do you see some alignment of these in future database releases?
    Finally off to buy your book now as no doubt there is a huge amount more to learn.

  • Steps for java apis and mdm

    Hi all ,
    How we can work with JAVA APIs and MDM .
    Please tell step by step ways.
    thanks in advance.
    Thnks
    nm

    Hi Man,
    You have to specify the correct JAR files in the classpath of the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). The API consists of five JAR files:
    1. mdm-admin.jar
    2. mdm-common.jar
    3. mdm-core.jar
    4. mdm-data.jar
    5. mdm-protocol.jar
    These files in one single archive file with the name MDMJavaAPI_Ver<buildnumber>.zip. you can download this file from the service market place by using mentioned below link:
    http://service.sap.com/swdc
    then goto Download>Support Packages and Patches> Entry by application group -->SAP NetWeaver -->SAP MDM -->SAPMDM5.5 -->Java API
    for the Java API documentation, you can download it from the link below:
    http://help.sap.com/javadocs/MDM/current
    But remember one thing that this JAVA API Version file must be compitable with your MDM Server version.you can verify this as per the build version.
    Hope this will help you.

  • How could JAVA API and ABAP API useful to MDM.

    Hi Experts,
    How could JAVA API and ABAP API useful to MDM, and any coding in Java or ABAP is required in MDM.

    Hi Reema,
    Java API and ABAP API are verry usefull to MDM to integrate MDM with other SAP componants like SAP R\3, EP etc. :
    It dose not required any coding in MDM infact in JAVA API coding can be done on NWDS(Netweaver Developer Studio).And for ABAP API coding is done on SAP R\3 System in ABAP editor.
    JAVA API:
    By using Java API MDM client operations can be performed.For one need to install NWDS and to deploy some .jar files and with the help of standard classes and interfaces it can be connected to MDM server and various operations like create repository ,connect to repository ,Data mainuplation etc.
    ABAP API:
    Suppose you have an Expert abaper and you want him to perform MDM operations.In that case he need not to learn MDM basic Data types infact by doing some settings on R\3 and MDM server side an ABAPer  can perform
    MDM Cnsole and MDM Data Manager level operations.
    you can go through these links
    http://help.sap.com/javadocs/MDM/SP06/overview-summary.html
    /people/bv.pillai/blog/2006/11/28/installing-mdmtech-add-on-and-configuring-the-mdm4a-mdm-for-abap-api
    Here the coding is done on SAP R\3 system.
    hope it will give you some idea about Java API and ABAP API
    Reward if helpful

  • JAVA API AND ABAP API SIMPLE SCENARIO

    Hello MDM gurus
    I have never used any Java API or ABAP API to leverage and present MDM functionalities on front end systems like portal,etc...
    Could you please give me all the required to play around with JAVA api and ABAP api's.
    Points will be given to every valuable answer.

    Hi Nazeer,
    In order to use Portal you need Java APIs and to start with refer the MDM Java docs to get the basic idea of various classes and methods to be used in developing the simple java application and access it using portal.

  • BPM 11g: JAVA API and Webservice API

    Who knows BPM 11g: JAVA API and Webservice API?
    Customer want to call BPM 11g between Heterogeneous systems, such .net framework. One way is use webservice API, I think, but where can find it? thank you

    When you create a BPM application in 11g, you're actually creating a SOA composite application with a BPMN component in the composite. From within the BPMN editor, you can specify the interface (parameters) of each start node in the process. If you select a start node, look at the implementation tab, you'll see a properties group that lets you define the interface one property at a time, or by selecting an interface from the catalog.
    By defining these properties you're also defining the shape of the Web Service interface that will automatically be created in the composite. If you switch to the composite view, you'll see your BPMN process with a wire to it from a Web Service that's generated from the interface defined in the BPMN editor. The naming convention is the BPMN process name with ".service" appended. When you deploy the BPMN process, the web service will also be deployed, since it's also part of the composite. From Enterprise Manager (EM) you can test the service and get the WSDL, which could be used by other applications (e.g. .NET) to start and interact with a process instance.
    This is one of the advantages of the 11g architecture. The composite exposes services to consumers/clients. The implementation could have been BPEL, BPMN, a Mediator, Java/EJBs, or any combination working together. To the consumer, it's just a web service.
    In case your next question was about security ... you won't see properties about security in the BPMN editor. You use Web Service Manager to apply security or other constraints to the web service endpoint.

  • How to create a taxonomy using MDM 5.5 SP05 JAVA API?

    Hi ALL,
    I have a requirement in which i have to create a taxonomy using MDM 5.5 SP05 JAVA API.
    Can anyone tell me how that functionality can be achieved?
    Thanks in Advance.
    Rajat.

    HI, Rajat.
    For exposing hierarchy in WD view you need to use node with recursive children in the context and Tree/TreeNodeType UI elements in view layout.
    For load hierarchy records you have to use RetrieveLimitedHierTreeCommand. You can load whole hierarchy (as I know, SP05 API have a bug - only first 1000 record can be loaded) or load hierarchy nodes on demand (using OnLoadChildren action of TreeNodeType element).
    Refer to this example of loading child records:
    // Context structure:
    // Tree (model node, model class built from com.sap.mdm.data.Record interface)
    //  |-- Children (recursive child node repeating Tree node)
    //  |-- DisplayValue (string value attribute, TreeNodeType's text property bound here)
    //  |-- HasChildren (boolean value attribute, TreeNodeType's hasChildren property bound here)
    // parentElem is element of node Tree or Children for which we must load child records, null for first level of hierarchy
    private void fillNodeWithChildren(IPrivateHierarchySelectView.ITreeElement parentElem) {
         // Determining RecordId of parent record and context node to which child records belong
         RecordId parentRecordId = null;
         if (parentElem != null) parentRecordId = parentElem.modelObject().getId();
         IPrivateHierarchySelectView.ITreeNode parentNode =
              parentElem == null
                   ? wdContext.nodeTree()
                   : parentElem.nodeChildren();
         // Loading children with RetrieveLimitedHierTreeCommand
         try {
              RetrieveLimitedHierTreeCommand retTreeCmd = new RetrieveLimitedHierTreeCommand(...); // use suitable constructor
              if (parentRecordId != null) retTreeCmd.setRootNode(parentRecordId);
              retTreeCmd.setResultDefinition(...); // don't forget set ResultDefinition
              retTreeCmd.execute();
              HierNode subRoot = retTreeCmd.getTree()
              parentNode.invalidate();
              // Processing loaded child records - add elements into parentNode
              if (subRoot == null) return;
              IPrivateHierarchySelectView.ITreeElement childElem;
              HierNode childRecord;
              HierNode[] children = subRoot.getChildren();
              int count = children == null ? 0 : children.length;
              for (int i = 0; i < count; i++) {
                   childRecord = children<i>;
                   childElem = parentNode.createTreeElement(childRecord);
                   childElem.setDisplayValue(childRecord.getDisplayValue());
                   childElem.setHasChildren(!childRecord.isLeaf());
                   parentNode.addElement(childElem);
              if (parentElem != null) parentElem.setHasChildren(count > 0);
         } catch (/* Some MDM Exceptions */) {}
    Don't forget call fillNodeWithChildren(null) in wdDoInit for load first level of hierarchy.

  • How to use SessionManager (MDM 5.5 SP06 JAVA API 2) with TrustedConnection

    Hello MDM 5.5 SP06 JAVA API Experts,
    Is it possible to Use the SessionManager in conjunction with TrustedConnections ? The trusted connection is setup properly (adding the client IP to the allow.ip file on MDM-Server).
    I tried a lot but I didn't succeed with the new JAVA API 2 SessionManager functionality.
    I'm initializing a UserSessionContext object and set the field for trusted connections to true.
    Later I request an instance of SessionManager and call the createSession() method.
    Although I've set the trustedConnection (=true) field of UserSessionContext, I get an exception, if the password is not set correctly. Due to my understanding, the password should be ignored if the UserSessionContext --> trustedConnection field is set to true. Is this a bug or am I missing any important step ?
    I have also used several constructors of UserSessionContext but no chance.
    Could anyone use the SessionManager with trusted Connections ?
    Any help would be greatly appriciated.
    Best regards.
          public static void main(String[] args)
            Settings settings = new Settings();
            RepositoryIdentifier repId = new RepositoryIdentifier(settings.repository,
                                                                  settings.dbServer,
                                                                  settings.dbmsType);
            //Create a UserSessionContext
            //UserSessionContext sessionContext = new UserSessionContext("<servername>", "<repositoryName>", "<userName>");
            UserSessionContext sessionContext = new UserSessionContext( "<servername>", repId, "English [US]", "<userName>");
            sessionContext.setConnectionType(ConnectionTypes.LOCAL_POOL_CONNECTION);
            sessionContext.setRegionLocale(Locale.US);
            sessionContext.setTrustedConnection(true);
            //Get an instance of SessionManager
            SessionManager sessionManager = SessionManager.getInstance();
            //Create user session
            String userSession =
            sessionManager.createSession(sessionContext, SessionTypes.USER_SESSION_TYPE, "<any pwd !!!>");
            System.out.println("Created user SessionID: " + userSession);

    Hello Jitesh Talreja,
    thanks for your reply and hint. The trusted connection configuration on MDM server is already setup correctly.
    My concrete problem is to establish a trusted connection using the SessionManager.
    If I use the TrustedUserSessionCommand, everything works.
            CreateUserSessionCommand createUserSessionCommand = new CreateUserSessionCommand(connection);
            createUserSessionCommand.setRepositoryIdentifier(repId);
            createUserSessionCommand.setDataRegion(dataRegion);
            createUserSessionCommand.execute();
            session = createUserSessionCommand.getUserSession();
            state = STATE_SESSION_ESTABLISHED;
            try
                TrustedUserSessionCommand tuscTrustedUser = new TrustedUserSessionCommand(connection);
                tuscTrustedUser.setUserName(userName);
                tuscTrustedUser.setSession(createUserSessionCommand.getUserSession());
                tuscTrustedUser.execute();
                session = tuscTrustedUser.getSession();
             catch (com.sap.mdm.commands.CommandException e)
                /* In Case the Connection is not Trusted */
                System.out.println("Could not established trusted connection!!!");
                e.printStackTrace();
    But I want to make use of the SessionManager advantages see [MDM Java API Guide|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm550/helpdata/en/47/9f23e5cf9e3c5ce10000000a421937/frameset.htm] -> API Structure and Basic Concepts

  • Java app with web service and servlets

    Hi. I intend to make a java application which exposes some methods as a web service and as jsp/servlets. It's core functionality is not really web centric, but its more a java app with a web tier. I am not sure about how the architecture of such a system would look like using the java platform. I currently see three options:
    1. Run everything in a servlet container like tomcat. I hesitate to do this because i would be putting a lot of functionality which isn't about the web into a servlet container. Also, I have a lot of application scope data that is maintained and shared by all servlets/web services. However, it would be really easy just to put everything into tomcat and use ServletContext to maintain some global objects.
    2. Use a Java EE to seperate application/business logic and data access into session beans and entity beans. I hesitate to this because it seem a bit overkill because the system isn't very big or complex right now. It also means that I would have to learn to use EJB's instead of just using some POJOs.
    3. Run the web tier in a servlet container and the main app in a separate JVM, and then connect the tier by sending serialized objects over TCP sockets. I don't like writing network code but at least there is some separation of the tiers.
    What would you do? Maybe I have overlooked a much better solution to the problem?
    Let me just say that the system is the product of a student project spanning one semester, so it's important to choose the RIGHT solution (architectural-wise) instead of the something quick and dirty that is hard to defend.

    jschell wrote:
    Run everything in a servlet container like tomcatTomcat is a JEE container.Now I am confused. Maybe you mean Glassfish? Tomcat is definitely a web container(?).
    Let me just say that the system is the product of a student project spanning one semester, so it's important to choose the RIGHT solution (architectural-wise) That pretty much makes it impossible then.
    1. A "Right" solution is generally only proven by time.
    2. It requires a great deal of knowledge about the business domain.Yeah, you are right. Let be try to rephrase it. What solution (pattern) would be considered the most common or appropriate when you have a Java App and want to expose a few methods as a website and web service?
    I hesitate to do this because i would be putting a lot of functionality which isn't about the web into a servlet container. Also, I have a lot of application scope data that is maintained and shared by all servlets/web servicesHuh? Do you already have an exposed web service? If you already have a server which other clients communicate then where does this functionality that you don't want to be tomcat running now? Or where do you think that you want to run it? And if you are or do run it somewhere else then tomcat could access it the same way any other client accesses that server.Sorry, that sentence was written badly. I don't have anything right now. What I meant to write was that I will have a lot of application scope data, objects that are kept in memory as long as the server is running, shared by multiple servlet instances.

  • Difference between interfaces in Java API and user defined interfaces

    Is there any differences between the interfaces (such as KeyListener, ActionListener and EventListener etc.,) in Java API and the user defined interfaces.
    The user defined interfaces seems to be empty without any functionality (except its constant and method declarations). But the interfaces in Java API seems to have some functionality behind them, since they route the device events to the programs.
    Actually what is happening behind the Java API's interfaces?
    Please clarify.

    Ummm, no they are not (or at least some of them are not). Also, some things we support now we may not have supported in a previous release.
    If you look at the section 2 (Working with TimesTen Data Stores0 in the TimesTen Java Developer's Guide and look at the sections:
    TimesTen JDBC Extensions
    Additional TimesTen classes and interfaces
    then you will see the extra functionality documented there. Of course, if you do not need any of this functionality then you can simply treat them as the base classes from java.sql and they will work fine so it is easy to make most of your code generic.

  • Image not displayed in pdf generated using Java API for Forms service

    Hi,
    I am creating a pdf document using Java API for Forms Service.
    I am able to generate the pdf but the images are not visible in the generated pdf.
    The image relative path is coming in the xml as defined below. The images are stored dynamically in the Livecycle repository each time a request is fired with unique name before the xml is generated.
    <imageURI xfa:contentType="image/png" href="../Images/logo.png"></imageURI>
    Not sure if I need to specify specify specific URI values that are required to render a form with image.
    The same thing is working when I generate pdf document using Java API for Output Service.
