MDM 7.1 installation / system copy

Hi,
New to MDM administration here so please help. I have a MDM 7.1 Production system running on windows and ms sql. Now i need to create a new QA system as a copy of this prod system. I am confused as to whether i should use the archive/unarchive procedure to move the repository content or shall i use the SQL backup/restore to copy the DB. I have about 8-9 small DBs in my MDM system -- around 1 GB each and I have one big DB around 200 GB that I believe has all the master data.
Shall i first copy the DBs and then do MDM installation or shall i only do a fresh install and then archive/unarchive the repositories ?? will archive/unarchive bring over all my data and configuration like connections to PI, ECC system etc ?
Also, i would like to know how to modify the connections etc in MDM to point to the correct QA systems after a system copy ?
Thanks,
BV

  • System copy - NW2004s BI - ABAP & JAVA

    Hi
We plan to create a new NW2004s (SRII) BI ABAP & JAVA system through a system copy. As this is java & abap it would seem using the sapinst method using the install CD would be best. I am looking for documentation for  this method and I wondered if anyone else had tried this task.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
there is a documentation under Installation Guides - Installation - System Copy for SAP Systems Based on NW 7.0 SR2 ABAP+JAVA.
We only did the copy for 640 and Java only.
    Hope this helps.

  • Got stuck at import abap phase during system installation from system copy

    hi,
we have ECC6 ehp4 sp5 level system (linux + db2), due to some reasons our quality system was crashed, we took homogeneous  system copy of Production server through sapinst and now  we are restoring in Quality server through sapinst. during import ABAP phase its taking long time to pass  and system message its showing is
waiting 6134 minites for DDL template file DDLDB6.tpl in dump directories.
i stopped installation and once again started restoration through system copy. Now the system go stuck at the same phase

    Hi,
AFAIK, report SMIGR_CREATE_DDL should be run in se38 before starting the export. This generates the required DDL statements which are needed for system copy.
For more info, refer system copy guide in http://service.sap.com/instguides. Hope this helps.

  • Post installation steps after SAP BW system copy

    Hi!
I am about to do post processsing steps after system copy of SAP BW system.
    1) One of the steps is to delete all entries from tables DBSTATHORA, DBSTAIHORA, DBSTATIORA,

Question: what is the way to do this?
    2) During the installation I received the error within import ABAP step.

    Simply run
    TRUNCATE TABLE <table_name>;
    for each of those tables.
Make sure to either logon as SAP<SID> or provide the owner of the tables with the statement.

The problem here was the large INITIAL size clause.
If there is enough freespace at all in the tablespace this should work:
    CREATE UNIQUE INDEX "D010TAB~0" ON "D010TAB" ( "MASTER", "TABNAME" ) TABLESPACE PSAPSR3700 NOLOGGING COMPUTE STATISTICS PARALLEL;
If I'm not wrong, the second index is just vice versa:
    CREATE UNIQUE INDEX "D010TAB~1" ON "D010TAB" (  "TABNAME", "MASTER" ) TABLESPACE PSAPSR3700 NOLOGGING COMPUTE STATISTICS PARALLEL;
In general it is really not a good idea to skip the creation of unique indexes...

  • Homogeneous System Copy - Installation of Database Instance not possible...

I try to create a SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 Portal based on a homogeneous SAP System Copy. Therefore I already installed in a first step (first option within SAPINST for installing a target system of a system copy) the Central Services Instance successfully on a machine. In the next step I'd like to create the Database Instance with SAPINST but I cannot choose the DB instance that I already created based on a restore within the new DB server (MS SQL 2008 Cluster installation). I can only choose the local machine for using a DB instance but there is no MS SQL Server installed!
Do I have to start SAPINST on the DB server itself which is not possible/allowed (due to operating/organization reasons)?
Is there any SAPINST parameter which I have to use for telling SAPINST that the DB is located on a different server?!?
    The documentation just says:
The target system is installed using the exports from the source system.
Choose the installation services exactly in the order they appear. For more information, see the MS SQL Server installation guide for your SAP system at http://service.sap.com/installnw70.
On the SAPinst screen SAP SystemDatabase make sure to select Homogeneous System Copy (MS SQL Server-specific: Detach/Attach or Backup).
    Thanks for supporting and Regards,
    Claudio Schmidt

    OK, SAP Note 1076022 says:
SAP installation packages on SAP Service Marketplace
On March 27, 2008, SAP released the Netweaver installation package SR3, which supports SQL Server 2008 (R2). Note 1152240 discusses the details and lists some restrictions. Make sure you carefully read Note 1152240 and use a recent enough installation master DVD.
    SAP Note 1152240 says:
If you want to perform a system copy of an SAP system that is based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 on SQL Server 2008 (R2), you cannot use the Installation Master and Kernel DVD that you received from SAP or downloaded from SAP Service Marketplace (SMP). Instead, you have to do the following:
    - Patch your runtime libraries as described in SAP note 684106
    - Use a modified Installation Master DVD. For more information, see section "IV Creating a modified Installation Master DVD".
    - Use a modified Kernel DVD. For more information about how to create a modified kernel DVD, see SAP note 1480785.
What problem is fixed by using the modified Installation Master DVD? Is it possible to install the DB part on a server apart of the local machine where SAPINST is run (my initial question/problem I want do resolve)?

    Claudio

  • The Java load in database SID / hostname has not been configured yet. You cannot run an installation from the System Copy folder with this load

    Dear Gurus,
We are facing the below issue when performing a homogeneous system copy of NW 7.0 system using backup/restore method for DB6 system.
The Java load in database <SID>/<hostname> has not been configured yet. You cannot run an installation from the System Copy folder with this load.
We went through the SAP Note http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/2049842, and followed the same but no luck.
We updated the Kernel to the latest, but still no luck.
Request for your quick help as we have to complete it by EOD today.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hello Ashutosh ,
    Thanks for your reply.
We have gone followed the below sequence:
    SCS Installation
Database Instance Installation using backup/restore method
CI installation. -> getting error, when we provide the Java Components DVD.

  • Installation Master DVD Distributed Java System Copy menu missing

    Hello Gurus
We want to perfom an Java system copy of our EP 6.0 using sapinst
The source OS is Solaris 8.0 with Oracle 10.2.0.2
The target OS is Solaris 10.0 with Oracle 10.2.0.2
Our architecture is Distributed , CI is running on a system and DB server on another system.
For this operation we use the master DVD 51033746_12 but we have an issue in exporting the DB as the
Option for exporting the DB on a Distributed system is not displayed on the sapinst Menu .
We followed the last guide taken from sap 'Homogeneous and Heterogeneous System Copy for SAP Systems Based on SAP Web Application Server Java 6.40 SR 1' and this option should be listed
    Excerpt:
Choose the installation service SAP NetWeaver u201904 Support Release 1--> Java System --><DB> --> Distributed System --> Migration - Database Export.
Unfortunately the Distributed system is not displayed and though we are stuck at the export step .
I could not find any sapinst patches . Is it a known issue for Soalris system and is there a Workaround .
    Thanks for your help
    De Palma Lionel .

    Hello
Thanks for your answer . Unfortunately this option is not available as we are using a NW04 SR1 system , not a nw'2004's one . With the latest master install (Installation_Master_6.20_6.40_05_08 51033746_5 )we have the choice of
System copy  Source --> Java system --> oracle --> Migration Data  export
-->  HA Java system --> oracle --> Migration Data  export
System copy  Target --> Java system --> oracle --> Central system-> Migration Data  export
Target --> Java system --> oracle --> Distributed system -> Migration Target Central instance / Db instance install
The Distributed system is available for Import option but no for the export one .
    My questions are :
    - Can we use a master nw2004's master DVD for system copy on a Nw'04s one ?
    - As the central instance is hosted on different system than DB instance , should I use the HA option ?

  • SAP MDM 5.5 System Copy

Hello we receive from the business a request to do an refresh of our SAP MDM 5.5 QA system with the MDM 5.5 Production system.
But I didnu2019t find any informationu2019s about this process on SAP MarketPlace neither in Googleu2026..
Does anybody know what is the step for doing such a refresh ?
Or where could I find info about this ?
Many thanks in advance for your help.
    Dom./

    Hi  Dominique,
You can create an Archive file to the repository from production environment and unarchive it into QA system.
This will this repository will be exactly same as production.
To create an Archive file follow following steps:
    1. Open MDM console and mount MDM Prod server. Right click on the repository and select "Create Archive".
    2. this will create a file with .a2a extn on MDM server Archive directory.
To unarchive repository in QA follow below steps:
    1. Copy .a2a file of Prod repository from Prod MDM server archive directory and copy in QA MDM Server archive directory.
    2. mount QA MDM server in Console and right click and select Create Repository from Archive. This will open a popup window. specify DBMS details here and .a2a file of Prod repository.
this way new QA repository will have exact same data and configurations from PROD repository. You can also over write an existing QA repository instead of creating a new repository using .a2a file of Prod repository.
Hope this will help. Revert if  you have any question.
    BR,
    Shiv

  • System Copy and Rapid Installer

    Hi,
We have installed EP6.0 SPS13 using Rapid installer 2.5 and now we want to 'system-copy' this.  The system copy installation guide talks about getting the required DVDs ready. There is only two DVDs in RI2.5. Is it possible to system - copy a RI installation?
    Thanks

    Hi Raj,
interesting question. In fact, the RI base /is/ a system copy itself. Anyhow, I would expect this to work, too.
Have you just tried it meanwhile? Any results?
