MDM Server Password Parameter in SRM Web Service for SRM MDM Catalog 2.0

Hi Experts,
We have password set on our MDM server. I am little confused about how to define MDM server password parameter in external Web service Call structure in SRM System for SRM MDM Catalog 2.0.
Will Catalog webservice work, if we don;t define password for MDM server in webservice??if No, then please let me know how to define MDM server password in SRM websevice.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Shiv

Hi Shiv,
The MDM Server password is needed when you are changing Webdynpro UI Configuration.
For catalogs, all you need is the repository userid/password parameters in the call structutre.

  • ECC definition of web service for catalog MDM

    Hallo,
in our scenario we have ECC 6.0 and MDM catalog integration.
We call the catalog from ME51n.
The call structure to the catalog is defined as web service in the table WSI_CALL_MV.
At the moment I think that I can only define one call structure per system. All the user access that call structure.
How can i define multiple call structure and ensure that according to the user I am calling a different call structure (containing different named search and enabling different catalog views)??
    thank you
    regards,
    marco

    Hi Shiv,
There is as such no parameter for MDM Server password in External Web service. Catalog will work irrespective of MDM server password either set by you or not. I mean catalog will work and independent of MDM Server password.

  • How-to access username and password protected Java EE Web services from ADF

The title of this post is exactly the same as this article by Frank Nimphius:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/1013/protectedws/access_protected_web_services_from_adf.htm
The article addresses the problem of securing web services using usernames and passwords, when those web services are accessed through a proxy or a data control. In the examples, the user names and passwords are specified, whether in the code or the definition of data controls. (SKING/SKING).
In a very common scenario, users login to reach a page, for example, A.jspx, which contains a button that calls a web service, for example displayDate. Suppose that user has logged in by username/pass of (AHUNOLD/AHUNOLD) and AHUNOLD has access to the service and the page. Is there any way to pass the logged in user name and password to the webservice ? Of course we can hard-code the username in the data control definition or proxy code, but this is just one of the thousands of users who have access to the service and the authentication is not dynamic this way.
Hope my question is clear. Wishing you all a great Christmas.
    Farbod

Hi Frank, and happy new year.
Are you implying that it couldn't be done declaratively? What is your suggestion for this problem? You know the problem... As I described:
    - I need to secure my web services, so when exposed, no one from inside network or the internet, can access the web service without proper permission
    - The web services are shown as web controls on jspx pages. The user has logged in before reaching the page. It is irrelevant to ask him to enter user name and password again.
    - I have user names, passwords and roles in Oracle Internet Directory (Identity Management). It provides some APIs and I can retrieve the usernames and attempt logging in programmically. But how can I get username and password from the session in ADF application?
I guess using SAML or certificate could be the solution, but I have a problem with SAML, described here:

  • MDM web services and the MDM BP services

    Hi *,
I need to know what is the difference between the standard MDM web services and the MDM BP services.  How do I decide which set to use?
    - Kris

Sorry but what are BP services? Do you mean Business package?
If yes the approaches are completely different - you use Web Services when you have to customise the application and build your logic/functionality into the app. CRUD operations are procided by Web Services - you need to form your wrapper application from scratch and develop!
With BP - it involves least development effort bearing in mind that its all standard content and not yet completely customizable. So based on your requirements plan whether to go for Business Package or Web Services or Java API completely...

  • Why we need a proxy server while we are using Web services?

    Hi guys,
i am new to web service.
i tried to implement the web services thru Sun One Application server.
thru one of my web service operation only i am establishing connection with the database.
by that time it has thrown the exception "*connection with the host could not be established*".
but i created a proxy setting thru netbeans and the the database connection established.
    What is the difference?
When i tried to conect with database thru a normal java program i never created a proxy.
Why i need in case of web service.
For kind information: We have firewall in the network...
can any one tell me briefly What is the need of proxy setting over there???
    thanx,
    subbu

    hi guys,
after a long struggle, i found the answer for this question.
that is In Sun One Application Server, we have the WS-Plugin (Web Server Plugin)
that plugin is used to redirect the HTTP request to a Web Server from the Application server.
In default this plugin will be in enable mode.
As long as WS-plugin is enabled, we need to proxy setting to handle any HTTP service.
    is i am right?
if anyone have better solution that this, pls post that here.

To check the local network for some of the common configuration problems, launch Terminal.app and issue the following diagnostic command:
    sudo changeip -checkhostname
That'll report some local configuration information and then either no errors detected and no changes required, or it'll point to whatever configuration errors or issues it might detect.  That doesn't catch everything, but it catches the common errors.
FWIW, 192.168.0.0/24 and 192.168.1.0/24 are poor choices for the local network, as VPNs are based on IP routing and IP routing gets tangled when the same subnet is used on both ends of the VPN. 192.168.0.0/24 and 192.168.1.0/24 are near ubiquitous in home networks and coffee shops.

  • Initialization of MDM Server Password

How to initialize MDM Server Password?
While starting Console application, one need to connect to server by starting MDM Server. If it is password protected, how to initialize the password?
How and where these controls are provided?

    Hi Rajesh,
By default, MDM Server is not initialized with any password.
    Setup password for MDM Server:
Once the MDM server is mounted and started. Right click on the server and click "Change Password". Enter the new password and confirm the password.
    1. When you try to mount the password protected MDM server<b>(Which is in Running state)</b> to the MDM Console then it will ask for the password.
    2. If the password protected MDM Server is mounted and stopped. It will ask for the password once you try to start the MDM Server.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks and Regards

  • How to write a web service for uploading a file

    Hi all,
I want to write a web service for uploading a file to some specified folder under application server, how to do that? Thanks

I believe the "difference" that you're seeing is that one web service is "RPC" style (The Hello World example) and one web service is "Document" style (The WSDL you have downloaded).
Document-style web service methods always have one element as a parameter, and this parameter manifests itself as a SOAPElement in the service interface.
RPC-style web services are true "remote procedure calls", and are more functional in nature, in that they accept multiple parameters. JAX-RPC will bind these parameters to generated Java types.

  • Create a Web Service for Exchange with form based authentication ?

I want to create a Web Service in Apex that can create appointments in my exchange calendar. Exchange is offering web services for that.
When i try to create the web service reference in Apex i provide the URL and my Exchange login, but it is failing.
The exchange guys told me, that there is a ISA Server running where i need to authenticate through a form.
Does anyone know, how i can implement a webservice in Apex, when the access to the wsdl url needs login through a form ?
Or : what other types of authentication does Apex know ? What possibilities do i have ?
    Thanks for answers.
    Bernd

    Hi
Presume you've already found this information, but in case not ....
Exchange 2007 provides out of the box web services, see
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb408417.aspx
As a disclaimer - neither myself of the team I work with have tried to use these web services within APEX.

  • Creating RESTful Web Service for BLOB retrieval

    Hi,
Just got RESTful web services working in Apex 4.2.1 with new Listener 2.1.
I have now been asked to create a RESTful web service by which photos in BLOB column can be retrieved upon providing the ID for that photo. Can this be done using the Creating RESTful Service Module of Apex 4.2.1? Looking at the Apex 4.2 documentation, I would assume this can be done, but has anyone used this with BLOB data?
    Thanks,
    Pat

    Hi Pat,
Yes this can be done using RESTful Services - you just need to ensure the query used is in the required format. To obtain a BLOB for a given ID, you would need create a Resource template and handler with the following settings:
    Resource Template Settings:
    URI template: emppic/{id}
    Resource Handler Settings:
Source query: select mimetype, product_image from demo_product_info where product_id = :id..where the format of the SQL query is SELECT 'content_type', blob_column FROM . . ., as mentioned in Rick Greenwald's Cloud White paper "RESTful Web Services for the Oracle Database Cloud", under the "SQL Source Type" section (see www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/database-cloud/public/restful-wp-1844130.pdf ):
where 'content_type' is a string passed to the browser to be used to identify the incoming data, and the column to identify the source of the data being sent back. This data is sent back untouched by the Oracle Database Cloud Service. The Media Resource Source Type is typically used for media objects, such as images, where the data will be directly handled by the recipient making the call. The MIMETYPE column in the sample query above holds the necessary setting for the 'content_type' i.e. 'image/jpeg'. The value of ID is then passed in as a parameter when calling the service e.g. emppic/1234. The item level help text would be more helpful if it included additional information, and this is something we intend on addressing in a future release.
    I hope this example helps.

  • Configuring Web Services for Oracle XML DB

    Hi all...
I think I need some help one this subject....
We have a 10G Release 2 Oracle single instance ( not RAC) install on a Linux Redhat v5.3 64 bit server. Are developers are user Visual Studio .Net and wnat to send xml files to a web service so that the xml file (containing data) can call a PL/SQL package (to be written) which will take the data out of the xml input file and insert rows into a prefined table within the instance. Now they have browsed the web and have come upon the following links...
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28369/xdb_web_services.htm
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28369/xdb22pro.htm#i1026724
Currently, within the database I looked at the schema XDB and have unlocked the account and connected as the user XDB. There are some 680 objects in the following groups...
    SQL> select object_type, count(*) from dba_objects where owner='XDB' group by object_type;
    OBJECT_TYPE COUNT(*)
    SEQUENCE 2
    PROCEDURE 5

    TABLE 36
    INDEX 51
    FUNCTION 5
    INDEXTYPE 2
    VIEW 2
    TYPE 144
    16 rows selected.
Now in the links above it mentions that the xdbconfig.xml needs to be altered etc. However, I have searched the entire $ORACLE_HOME and there is no file definition of that description.
From a DBA prospective...what do I have to install on the Linux server? I assume from the Oracle Database 10g Companion Products I need to lay down Oracle HTTP Server in a new Oracle home as the first step...or not? Does the HTML DB need to be installed as well?
And for Configuring Web Services for Oracle XML DB...what else has to be installed? And from what product line?
    Thanks in Advance....
    Cheers

    Hi Marco...
First of all ...thanks for the reply.
I followed the link and the infor in that web page. However, there were a few things that did not work....
    1. The http://localhost:8080/ as is brought up a web page withe the heading as

    ==========
    The other browser test ftp://localhost:2100/
    did not find any page?
    2. Then I went onto running (as the sysdba) the pl/sql to enable the ORAWSV Entry Service
however it error out. So I did a describe on DBMS_XDB and the function deleteServlet does not appear
then I had a look and this link to > http://www.liberidu.com/blog/?p=471
was for 11G and the other link > http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28369.pdf
    was for 11G.
    However, we are on 10G

  • Web Services for Oracle 8i

Is there any means for the Oracle 8i Platform to implement a Webservice to
access Business Logic in stored precedures?
We were evaluating IONA's XML Collaboration Suite and their Oracle Adaptor
but we are not satisfied with the level of control the adaptor provides.
    Do you have any suggestions?
    Best regards,
    Andreas

Yes, you can publish stored procedures as Web services. Two approaches:
    1. Check out the new Web services sample that came out the other day, example two where SQLJ is used to wrap a Java class as a stored procedure, the connection is then wired into the generated class and finally it is published as a Java Web service using Oracle9i JDeveloper 9.0.2. See:
    http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/java/web_services/
and look at the Tax Calculator viewlet/code.
    2. This is essentially the same way that the OC4J PL/SQL Web service samples work too (using SQLJ to generate a Java PL/SQL proxy), but the OC4J sample (url below), provides a more parametric way to pass the connection information to the proxy by using a parameter in the web.xml file. Check out:
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/java/oc4j/how-to-web-services.zip
See the readme and work with the sample in plsqlws.zip
This one is a both better and worse from a developers perspective compared to the first Oracle9i Jdeveloper oriented example. The good part, depending on your perspective, is that it is all command line based (some people like this, some people don't) and uses the longer term approach to publishing stored procedures as Web services for Oracle9iAS with the parameters passed in via the web.xml. The bad part is the example is a little hard to follow because many of the pieces are already created for you rather than explaining how they were created. The first example at least shows pretty much all the steps but doesn't quite elegantly solve the connection problem that the OC4J sample does.
In July/August, Oracle9i JDeveloper will be updated to publish stored procedures using the Oracle9iAS infrastructure (basically the web.xml fix) ... although once you understand it, it is fairly easy to manually do it inside of JDeveloper.
    Hope this gets you going.
    Mike.

  • Web Services for a State Machine Based VI

    Hello,
I am new to the Web Services approach but so far I have managed to build a simple VI which is used with Web Services to display a Graph and make some simple calculations.
However, I have a more complex application which uses a State Machine architecture to command some circuitry using the NI USB 6211 device. This program includes different states and all the action takes place inside a while loop. This loop uses shift registers to pass the states arround (the JKI State Machine).
My question is: Could such a program be used with the Web Services without modifying this structure?
In the programs that I have tried, if I place the execution inside a While structure then I get no result with the Web Services.
An example of a simple program which includes a while loop and the Web Services approach would be helpful, if possible.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello again,
I was trying to do what Nathand indicated.
    1. "Put a functional global in it that stores whatever value you want to be queried over the web,"
So I opened a new Project and added the Index.vi just to generate the numbers continuously. This VI writes to a global variable entitled "GlobalOutput.vi".
This works as I have attached the jpg image.
    2. "and make that VI accessible through VI server."
This I am not so sure I did correctly. I opened the Tools->Options->VI Server, and here at the section Exported VIs, I added the GlobalOutput.vi. I have attached the image.
    3. "Then, in your web services VI, open a VI server connection to that functional global and run it, by reference, to obtain the value stored there."
Now I have created another VI, called ServerConnection.vi which runs the GlobalOutput.vi. I have attached the image with the error I get. Something is wrong in what I am doing. In the end I thought that I would create a Web Service for this last vi and basically be able to read the global variable.
As I understand it, you have a VI which runs locally, in a while loop and updates some global variables. Then another vi reads the values of those global variables.
It is this last vi that you should create a web service and interogate to find out the values of those variables. What am I missing?
    Thank you in advance.
