MDM to MDG - Configuration Migration

Hi,
If an enterprise was using SAP MDM and it has there configurations, workflows, data models,forms, ... etc and it is planning to implement MDG 7.0 soon. How can it benefit from the earlier implementation of MDM ? Technically, what parts,objects can be migrated from MDM to MDG ?
Appreciate any insight or guidance.

The main thing you will benefit from is the documentation. Other than that, you will need to implement everything from scratch as MDM and MDG use two different technologies.

    What are preferred join rules to overcome this problem?

  • Migration from Stellent v7.g to UCM 11g - Configuration Migration Utility

    Hello,
    I am in the process of planning a migration from the old Stellent 7.5 system to the new Oracle UCM 11g.
    I keep hearing of a utility called "Configuration Migration Utility" to setup the 11g system with the same users, folders, metadata, etc... as the older Stellent system. Does anybody know where to find this utility? Is there a single tool that will "export" the configuration from my Stellent and import that configuration onto my 11g?

    CMU tool is a way to create the entire configuration bundle from 1 instance to the other .
    This is a component that will be available from patchset 13526049 which is for CS 7.5
    You will need to put this patchset on the 7.5 server and then from the option list select CMU which will then install the component on server .
    For ucm 11g it is already installed on the server but disabled by default .

    I need specific help with Data Replication Framework(DRF) where we want to replicate data on client system. We need steps to accomplish the same.

    I want to replicate master data by MDG DRF.
    But it's hard to find detailed step-by-step document about DRF anywhere.
    And there is no official reference guide of DRF except the contents on SAP help site.
    I think the contents on help site are so brief that it's not sufficient to implement replication scenario using DRF.
    If you send any guide or reference document for DRF, I really appreciate your help.
    For your questionnaire for the use case, we have cases like below.
    (1) We need to replicate not only the standard masters including Material, Supplier, COA but also custom object
    (2) We planned to replication data by RFC and ALE (for Material)
    (3) We'd like to use PI as mediated solution, not using peer-to-peer interface.
    In addition, especially for the complex custom object, detailed step-by-step guide is needed.
    For instance,
    (1) How to make business object type and use it.
    (2) How to create or enhance the class & method for the Outbound Implementation.
    (3) How to create Filter class for the Filters assigned to filter object (in both case of explicit and implicit filter) 
    (4) In case of using change document for DRF, how to configure and develop.

    SAP MDM (Master Data Management) and SAP MDG (Master Data Governance)
    In most businesses benefits can be acquired in the area of master data. An efficient master data maintenance, which is implemented across systems and applications, avoids conflicts and reduces costs.
    For an area-wide generation of consistent master data, which is comprehensive and valid along the supply chains, SAP provides the Master Data Management (MDM) and Master Data Governance (MDG) tools.
    Initially the approach of Master Data Management (MDM) and Master Data Governance (MDG) is similar.
    The master data of individual systems are consolidated with the SAP Business Objects Data Services and a keymapping is established. In the latter the master data and the respective source system are listed in a table. Same master data from different systems is provided with a global ID in order to combine them.
    The difference between Master Data Management (MDM) and Master Data Governance (MDG) lies in the distribution of data.
    Master Data Management (MDM): In the MDM solution the master data is directly distributed to the ERP systems via the Process Integration (PI). Master data changes are purely undertaken from the MDM and updated in the ERP system from there.
    Master Data Governance (MDG): In the MDG data circulates in a circuit. The data comes from the ERP system and is adjusted and consolidated with the MDG. The addition and change of data takes place purely here and is still distributed via the Process Integration (PI).
    Which of those solutions is better suited for individual business applications depends on technical and process oriented criteria.
    MDM uses own flexible data models and is basically usable for all master data objects, whether or not they are coming from SAP system environments.
    MDG allows a centralized master data management within the SAP Business Suite and uses ERP data models (prerequisite is the application of ERP 6.0 and the enhancement package 5). Those master data management tools are preferable when SAP uses ERP as master data server and proprietary development is integrated

  • SRM MDM Installation and Configuration

    I have been asked to install/configure SRM MDM. Ive gone through lot of documentation on SAP service marketplace and am struggling to understand the components I need to install.
    I have SRM system already installed and the customer wants to use SRM MDM 5.5.
    I was going through the Architecture guide and what I understood from it is that I will have to install the MDM 5.5 Server, clients, a database and a WAS. Now that SMR is already in place do I still have to install WAS on the MDM system ? will the MDM sever use the SRM systems WAs and database ?

    Hi Hasnain,
    MDM is a "stand-alone" component. You do not need a separate WAS.
    You need a database instance (the usual SAP supported Databases work) and the MDM Software.
    The MDM Client Software (Import Manager, Console, Clix, Workflow, Data Manager) must run on Windows Client. As far as I know the MDM Server can also run on Unix.
    For searching the MDM Catalog you need a SAP J2EE (Java) Instance. If you have a EP running this will work for the beginning.

  • Issue with Receiver MDM Adapter - Integrated Configuration

    Hi Experts,
    My scenario is I need to pick a file from PI Directory and push it into MDM Ready folder.
    The source file structure is ~ delimiter text file and at the receiving end , I need to push the same file as it is.
    At the receiving side I have used MDM Adapter.
    The issue at receiving side is:
    I am receiving file with .xml extension with the same content as of source file but my requirement is .txt file.
    Please advise on this.
    I am using SAP PI 7.31.
    P.S.- I have not used FTP at the receiver side due to some other concerns.

    Thanks for the reply.
    Yes we had tested successfully via SOAP UI as well (forgot to mention that). We are getting back the expected response in SOAP UI without using any credentials. We got the same response when we tested it through OS commands from PI server.
    The WS is hosted by the target system and they haven't maintained any credentials at their end. So when PI is trying to access, we don't need to provide any credentials. My question is, whether the target system should keep any credentials to send the synchronous response back to PI (java stack). We have tried that as well but since there aren't any logs, we are unable to verify whether the credentials are coming correctly.
    The service interfaces are correct and PI configuration are OK. I will try the XPI inspector for logs as you have suggested.

  • MDM Adapter dynamic configuration

    Hi All,
    The scenario is, PI picks up a file from ECC using sender File adapter and sends it to different MDM ports using the Receiver MDM adapter.
    The only difference in the different receiver MDM communication channels sending the data to different ports is the
    MDM Access Parameters-->Port Code.
    So we have decided to use Dynamic Configuration of the MDM communication Channel to avoid using many communication channels.
    Please help with the steps/ blogs that I can follow to do the above

  • MDM Vendor ALE configuration

    Hi,
    i have a question related with ALE and MDM. I´m trying to conect R3-MDM with XI obviosuly. For vendors i have the outbound message CREMDM and i need clasiffication as well i guess CLFMAS. But for the inbound process i can not configure CREMDM for this one as the process code for inbound idocs CRE2 is not allowed. How can i configure this?

              Actually CREMDM is a mass idoc and I could not find out the process code for this . so I have used CREMAS process code for CREMDM also.

    With Refresh Technology, the CVP configuration (that will be done using the Ops Console): It can be migrated from the production to the new environment or should be done manual?
    VXML Server configuration to be done from the Ops Consol, or any thing also need to be done at the VXML Server it self?

  • Failure Enrolling iPads/iPhones in MDM via Apple Configurator

    I'm having problems enrolling our loaner iDevices into our MDM server at my work. I'll start with the basic specs and then describe what happens.
    We have a Mac Pro running Mavericks 10.9.4 and OS X Server 3.1.2.
    I am using Profile Manager with 1 Enrollment Profile. It does not have any restrictions on devices with placeholders. Profile Manager is using a Code Signing Certificate. We are not currently using the Device Enrollment Program, or the Volume Purchase Program.
    Now, the machine that is running Apple Configurator is an older iMac running Mavericks 10.9.5 with Apple Configurator version 1.6.
    So, I plug in my 1st Generation loaner iPad Mini, and use the following Settings in Configurator:
    I have a name entered, supervision on, a backup set to restore that organizes the position of the Apps that are installed, and three profiles.
         1. A Trust profile that is necessary to connect to the MDM server
         2. The Actual Enrollment Profile
         3. A Wi-Fi Network settings profile
    Now, when I prepare the device, everything goes through just fine, except at the very end when it fails. The failure is a "MCInstallationErrorDomain 4001" error that looks like this:
    It seems that it's complaining that the iPad isn't' activated. The weird thing though is that if I just go to the MDM website and enroll manually with the iPad, it goes through just fine. The problem just seems to be with Apple Configurator. Also, none of my Mac machines every have any problem enrolling.

    As it turns out the problem was the backup. I had made the mistake of attempting to restore an iPad 2 backup onto an iPad Mini. That does not work. I just selected do not restore backup and everything went through fine. I guess I'll just have to make a backup for each model of iPad.

  • Certificate in the identity section of mdm payload of configuration profile.

    Hi,
    I am using iPhone configuration utility to create a configuration profile. I want to have an mdm payload. It has an identity section which needs a credential.
    Thr credential section has this text >> "Use the Credentials settings payload to add certificates and identities to the device. Certificates in PKCS1 and PKCS12 format are supported. Use P12 (PKCS #12 standard) files that contain exactly one identity. The file extensions .p12 and .pfx are recognized. When an identity is installed, the user is prompted for the passphrase that protects it, unless you include the passphrase in the payload."
    I dont know what certificate I need for this? I have a developer certificate and a certificate available for me in the "Other" tab of certificate section on the iOS provisioning portal. This certificate is "Mobile Device Management CSR Signing Certificate"
    They are not accepted as valid entries in the identity section.
    I am blocked and cannot create a configuration profile. Any help is highly appreciated.

  • Configuration Migration Utility (CMU) hangs???

    I'm on 7.5.2 and am having problems using CMU. It seems like everything just hangs when I try to create a configuration template. Ultimately I am trying to grab everything so I can replicate my system on another server but I have tried to collection different sections at a time and it is still just hanging.
    I think I have narrowed it down to Schema Tables.
    Any ideas? Has anyone else had problems with CMU or can recommend best practice for using the tool?

    i also faced similar problem long back. in my case One schema table was coming, so at the time of export/import i removed that table from CMU bundle and it worked for me.
    I could not find out the reason that why that single schema table would come all the time.

  • Meraki MDM without Apple Configurator

    Hi all,
    I'm completely new to Apple devices and am having to setup some kind of solution for managing circa 40 iPad 2's on a low budget.
    I've done a lot of research into the topic and can see Meraki MDM is free though has it's limitations.  Looking through a few dicussions on here it appears a lot of people use Meraki and ACM in tandem.  I'm not completely adverse to purchasing a Mac though I'm thinking the pros of not buying one outweigh the cons (mainly the initial cost).
    What I'm trying to get to the bottom is something I've read 2 different accounts of.
    When installing a VPP purchased app via the MDM, apparently there is no way of reclaiming this code unless it is supervised and removed via ACM.  However there appears to be an option when deploying via the MDM to remove the app.  Is that just how it sounds?  That it will remove the app but not reclaim the code for a future install?
    What I'm thinking of is even if we have to remove a few apps from various devices, the costs are not likely to get anywhere near the cost of a Mac.  Or am I just being naive?
    For information on setup.  There are 44 iPad 2.  16 of them will go to Classroom teachers and the rest will be scattered around each classroom (2 - 4 per classroom).  I'm thinking of using the same ID (an institution ID) and giving those details to the classroom teachers so that when I push an app and they're prompted they can authorise on the classroom devices too. 
    There will only be an IT Technician on site around once a week so it's important we have some way to manage these remotely.  The idea of having to hook them up to a Mac individually everytime there's an update is not at all appealing.
    Any thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated.
