MDNSResponder causing network issues?

About a week after installing Yosemite beta 5 I noticed a huge issue on my computer. I woke my computer at the start of the day an I was having trouble loading anything except for websites on Chrome. All of my network services would think they were connected but would just never load. For instance, I would load a website and it would just try to load for a few minutes before timing out. It seemed like a DNS issue, but after trying other DNS servers, I did some research. I finally found that other people (not from previous system versions as well) were citing an issue with the "mDNSResponder.plist" file, located at: /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist. Some said to unload and reload the file, others said to delete (in which case it won't rebuild and therefore has issues with Bonjour), and others said to restore that file from a previous TM backup. I tried all of those solutions, I was finally able to get some network functionality after loading and reloading the file.
Now, my network services are back and I've had less of an issue in beta 6, but I'm still getting the attached message every time my computer is NOT connected to a network.
It just keeps counting up for ever, until I'm connected to a network this will never go away (unless I unload the .plist file). Is this just a bug? Any way to fix this issue that anyone knows of?

Then don't start your post with "About a week after installing Yosemite beta 5".
That sounds like discussion of beta software to me.
I can't help you but maybe Apple will notice your post and provide guidance.

  • Ea6300 causing network issues when connecting to web browser on my Mac

I have had my ea6300 for two months and its causing major issues when connecting to my web broweser before I throw it out the window can someone give me some help.

Hi bigtimer30, what do you mean by “it’s causing major issues when connecting to my web browser”? Do you mean that the MAC computer is no longer able to access the internet? If yes, is it with both wired and wireless connections? Is this happening to all of your devices? Or just that specific MAC computer? If all the other devices are still able to connect except the MAC, I suggest that you do a power cycle on the computer (if you haven’t done it yet). And you’re having difficulties with the wireless part, try to hard wire the computer straight to your router, and check if you experience the same thing. If the wired connection is okay, you may try playing with the router’s wireless channel. Better if you could give more details for us to give you more suggestions.

  • 10.6.5 update causing network issues

Variations of this have already been posted but when I described my particular issues to Apple support the advice was roll back to 10.6.4!
I have 3 Macs, and this only appears to be affecting my MBP 13". Updating to 10.6.5 causes:
    - ethernet to stop working; it shows as connected and shows correct IP but there is no acccess to web, offsite ping, or email. Reboots very occasionally get it to work but when changing any aspect of network config (eg switching on wireless or changing location) it fails again. Booting with ethernet cable plugged in usually results in the spinning beachball.
    - wireless works reasonably, but any change to config causes loss of network as described above. VPN under wireless becomes very temperamental
    - when the network fails, finder also crashes and restarting it only gets it going for less than a minute before it crashes out again.
    - waking from sleep also appears to cause the network problems
I can replicate the problems easily; works fine up to 10.6.4 but as soon as a later upgrade is applied then it fails. To clear the problem I only have to reinstall the OS over the existing installation, I don't have to do a clean install. The problems occur on both my home network and my work network
I'm afraid that I can't get any logs from the failure because that would mean me breaking it and having to reinstall. I'm currently waiting for the next upgrade but wonder if anyone else has seen this - any thoughts/pointers welcome!
    Kerr

I have the exact same problem on two of my imacs, both have the 10.6.5 update and have been having networking problems since November of last year. I have pinged both IP addresses successfully so they are active.I have also tweaked the proxy settings for our network, trying all combinations, to no avail.
I have at least succeeded in getting one of the macs to connect to email and Safari but the connection in Safari times out after about 10 minutes and then hangs and you have to force quit. Thereafter only a reboot will restore Safari.
The second imac is in a worse state, in that it does not connect up at all even though the network is active and IP has been successfully pinged.

  • Network Issues with Visual Studio Online Application Insgihts

My team is using Visual Studio Application Insights to monitor availability of our web server (we use cloud service)by making a call to it every 5 minutes from different locations around the world including Singapore, Japan, France and Switzerland.
We experienced continuous failures of this monitoring from Singapore from September, 19-th and the issue became very big on September 21-st, September, 22-nd. After that on September, 23-rd and 24-th we have failures form Paris. Then starting from September,
24-th to September, 26 we have very high percent of failures from Japan. Our problems finished with one more failure coming from Switzerland on September, 26.
I wanted to find what the source of the problem is since we checked our code and it very simple to cause network issues. However, it is very difficult to reproduce the issue. My questions is - were all these problems coming from Visual Studio Online Application
    Insights?
One example error that it is tracked in Visual Studio Online Application Insights is:

    Hello Kanio,
There is nothing AI-specific in the stack, and, since the exception was reported to the portal, I would say that AI was working that time. However, if the issues goes away as soon as you disable AI - then it might mean that the issue is induced by AI presence.
Also, you can try the latest AI SDK (0.13 as of today) and see if the issue still happens.

  • Networking Issues after Upgrading to Windows 8.1

I have a Windows 8 desktop PC that is working fine with my network.  I can browse the Internet fine using all major browsers etc.  After upgrading to Windows 8.1 through the Windows Store I noticed that my wired networking was not working correctly.
The status of the network does not change (i.e. it doesn't change to Limited Connectivity) however browsing to sites in Chrome, IE or Firefox doesn't work as well as Windows 8.
IE11 gives me the error "This page can't be displayed, make sure the web address is correct" and other browsers give a similar error.  I normally have to refresh 2-3 times to get a new page to load, sometimes even more.  Everything works
fine from a laptop connected at the same time so it isn't an network issue with my provider.
I thought this might be a driver issue with the two on-board Marvell wired network adapters.   I wasn't able to rollback the driver to older versions I found on the Internet.  I then purchased another network card, Intel Desktop gigabit and the
issue still persists with that adapter.  I then tried a USB wireless adapter and the issue still persists using wifi with the wired adapters disabled.  I tried a new network cable and no luck either.  I also tried resetting the IP stack using
    the various netsh commands.
After that I thought I might try reset the Windows 8.1 PC, however that didn't work as I didn't have the restore image available as I upgraded from the Windows Store.  I then tried installing Windows 8.1 fresh using a ISO with my Windows 8 key using
some of the recent guides that are available.  That all worked but it didn't fix the networking issues.
I re-installed Windows 8.0 and the networking is now fixed and back to working normal again.  I'd like to try again but I think I will have the same problems.  I can't imagine why this would be a driver issue as I tried 3 different network adapters
and two installs of Windows 8.1.  Any ideas what would be the cause of the Windows 8.1 issue?

    HI,
Since this issue only occurred in the your desktop PC, and many network adapters you tried, failed, thus I think maybe we should focus on the model of your desktop PC, I suggest you update the BIOS and chipset from the manufacture to improve
    the performance of win8.1.
Please also test this issue in safe mode with networking.
    Please refer to:

The issue occurs in safe mode as well under Windows 8.1.  The motherboard is an Asus P5B Premium, however it works on Windows 8.  How would I update the chipset when booted into Windows 8.1?  In Device Manager it wasn't allowing me to update
the network drivers as they were newer versions already installed.
Edit:  I also installed at Intel Chipset Device software dated 8/8/2013 with version 9.4.0.1026 and the issue still occurs.  I am also running the latest BIOS that is available.

  • Very Strange Network Issue With Two Guests on 2012 R2 Hyper-V Failover Cluster

Hi all.  We're having a odd issue with two guests on our 2012 R2 failover cluster.
In a nutshell, if we shutdown a particular server (I'll call it Server A) another totally different server (Server B) on the same node loses it's network connectivity to the domain. If we start server A back up, network connectivity returns on server B.
At first I thought server A might be running a service that was somehow linked to server B, so I decided to disable server A's NIC.  Interestingly, that had no affect on server B's connectivity.
The next step I tried was pausing server A and again, no adverse affect on server B's connectivity.
Next step was to live migrate server A to another node.  This action did
cause server B to lose its network connection.
One other clue is that if I ping server B from either of the Hyper-V hosts in the cluster, I never lose network connection to server B.
So I would suspect this is some network issue on the cluster, but I'm kind of at a loss where to go from here.
Has anyone seen this behavior before or does anyone have any troubleshooting suggestions I can try?
    Thanks!
    George Moore

    Hi Sir,
I'v never seen this before .
    >>Next step was to live migrate server A to another node.  This action did
cause server B to lose its network connection.
They are connecting to same virtual switch ?
First please run cluster validation to check if there is any error .
If it is ok , please try the following items for troubleshooting :
    1. shutdown  serverA   serverB
    2. then add another virtual NIC for serverB
    3. start server B  check if the issue happens to both "old" and "new" virtual NIC .
In addition , you can live migrate both A and B to another node , then try to live migrate A to the original node .
If the issue persists , I would suggest you to remove that virtual switch on both nodes then re-create them .
    Best Regards,

  • Issue with LDAP Connection becuase of Network issue

    Hello All,
We have some network issues going on which is causing the NIC (Network interface card) to failover to another NIC. Due to this failover SUN access manager's LDAP connection pool fills up and we see errors in logs "Directory is down". We have to restart the Access manager to resolve this issue which refresh the connection pool of LDAP.
Now we have set the setting as recommended in admin guide/tuning guide. Like
    1. Set event connection idle timeout to less that firewall or loadbalancer idle timeout value.
    2. event connection retry count and interval on perticular error code.
Despite of above settings its not working out. Is there other way to get all the stale connections back to the LDAP pool without restarting the server?
Or something which handles the network failover or failback?
    Regards
    Chetan Kulshrestha

The user search name is the value you should be looking at in the LDAP attributes, that's the one that it will send to LDAP on a logon attempt. If you changed this value after mapping a group, I'm not sure but you may have to remap the group to get the change.
So on the LDAP side verify the user search attribute = the username you expect to login with (i.e. cn, samaccountname, uid, etc)
    Regards,
    Tim

  • Email Settings Wiped Out on Regular Basis - Phone Network Issue?

Not sure where to post, but the CEO of our company has had an ongoing issue with his Droid X, and actually I suspect it being a phone network problem.  On a consistent basis when he travels from our office to his weekend home about 100 miles from us, his phone loses the POP3 email settings for our company email which is setup on his phone.  The account settings appear normal, yet we have to re-enter them and then turn the phone off and on again in order to get the email to go through.  VERY FRUSTRATING.  Anyone else have this issue?  Specifically we are traveling from Birmingham, AL to Selma, AL.  There is nothing he is doing to his phone causing the issue and it is not the email account as we have other users on the Verizon network in the area that do not have the problem, though they do not travel that route.
I would GREATLY appreciate hearing from anyone as Verizon customer service at the local store claims they have never heard of the issue.

  • Lync server call failed due to network issues

    hi,
i receive an error while making a lync call to an internal user
"call failed due to network issues"
i have two ip's installed on My NIC but when i remove one ip of the ip's from
my nic, everything seems to work fine.
    Kindly help

    Hello Matt,
    Hope you keeping well..!!
We are communicating with external customers lync server through federation option setup on our corporate lync server.  We have received the federation setting from the customer with SIP address which has been setup on our corporate lync servers after
that we were able to browse the customer contact through corporate lync account.
We were also able to chat with external customer but however voice/video functionality are not working through same session.  Whenever we try to dial out external customer lync account it ended with error message "call ended due to network issue".
We have checked the setting from corporate lync servers and network point of view but doesn't find any issue which cause the disconnection to voice/video over lync.  Could you pl help or guide with the way.
    Thanks

  • Unable to connect to TC since 7.5.2 update - network issue

    Can anyone help?!
Yesterday I updated to the latest firmware and since then have not been able to connect to my time capsule.
    Setup:
Cisco Linksys WAG320N router connected to the outside world
Cisco sits at 10.0.0.1 and assigns IP addresses via DHCP to any connecting clients on wireless
Connected via LAN is the TC, this has wireless disabled and until yesterday was working just fine, doing regular backups and print server duties
Now though I cannot receive IP via DHCP, the subnet mask is always set to 255.255.0.0 (my network is set to 255.255.255.0) and only 'receives' IP : 169.254.250.66 no idea from where
I can try to manually assign an IP within the correct range, and also set the subnet to the correct range, but nothing on the network can connect to it.
I have tried everything I can think of and have looked at multiple forums for answers but cannot get it working.
    Any help appreciated!

    This is now resolved
Answer: reset and reconfigure, this time allow it to connect wirelessly to the network (ignore ethernet connection)
another moan: called Apple support and was told that I was not eligible for telephone support. I argued why I wouldn't be as a firmware update had caused my issue. the response was: "firmware and software updates are optional"
what do you think is the first thing you are asked when you call? Yes thats right..."what firmware version are you using?" ....and if you are not using the latest you are told to go and update...... hardly optional then!!

  • Blackberry Desktop Software (Roxio, specifically) causes network problems and blue screens.

I'm posting this note because I just solved my network issue/crash problems. I started experiencing lots of disconnects and page not found on my office computer over the past few days. Only thing I could think of that was different lately was that I installed the Blackberry Desktop Software. Then a huge lightbulb went on over my head. I remembered when it was installing, it said it was installing "Roxio" software and at that moment shivers went down my spine from past experiences.
Well, I have lots of good "bad" experiences with Roxio CD software which had caused these same problems on two of my home computers. It caused blue screens when used in conjunction with my wireless Netgear card and also standard network card. The same symptoms including very slow internet access, general machine sluggishness, etc. I was trying to chase this down for months til I finally removed the Roxio crapware and ALL problems went away. No more slow machine, no more page not found and no more blue screens on two of my computers. Now, on a completely different Toshiba work laptop and different network adaptor, same problems.
So, here we are again with Roxio as part of Blackberry Desktop software. I like my new Blackberrry 8830, but I have to pass this along to the Blackberry folks because I KNOW I'M RIGHT about this. I only installed the software so that I could type my contacts into Outlook and then download to my Blackberry. So, after realizing the common symptoms and after having completed my download (which worked great by the way), I removed the Blackberry Desktop Software and I'm back to speedy everything, no more pages not found, no more putty disconnects, and no more blue screens.
I hope someone gets good use of this post because this drove me crazy the first time around.
    -- Jeff

    We had the same problem.
We did extensive troubleshooting, and found the problem was effecting our new HP Windows XP .Laptops.
We did not have any trouble with the Older Dell Latitude we have.
We found the BSOD still happened after removing the Black Berry Desktop Manager Software.
We traced it to a memroy / resource leak in the USB subsystem.
The workaround we found is to go into the Device manager, and remove all the drivers from the USB section.
** Disclaimer :  This works for us, but may make your computer unusable.  Backup your data to external storage.
                   Back up your computer

Right click on each Item, and select "uninstall"
                    Don't reboot after each one.
                    * Remove ALL the entries under Universal Serial Bus Controllers *
Repeat until all the entries under  "Universe Serial Bus Controller" are removed
(there may be one that sticks, thats ok. so long as it has been uninstalled.
                Reboot.
The OS will rebuild the USB stack and drivers to default.
This has worked for us so far.
We are not sure if this wont break something else.

  • Windows Vista Network Issues when updating Podcasts

    Hi there,
Since upgrading to VISTA i am experiencing countless problems with my internet connection when using iTunes. Using iTunes normally does not cause a problem however as soon as iTunes store downloads updated podcasts, my network connection disconnects. The podcasts only download partially and then fail as a result of my network issues. I am unable to repair my wireless network connection at this point and it appears that my wireless card disables completely. I have to reboot to resolve the issue.
Has anyone else experienced this? I am using the latest version of iTunes.
    Are there any fixes?
    Many thanks,

Try turning off firewalls, pop-up blockers, software accelerators, and security software.
Can you connect with everything temporarily turned off?

  • IOS 5.1 Created Intermittent Networking Issues - Log Bug?

I've been putting up with this defect ever since I switched over to the iOS 5.1.  Having used iPhone since the original first-gen 16GB release (and 3 generations of iPhones after that) and not ever seeing this problem I'm quite sure of the timeframe of this change.  I'd like to log a bug but it seems as if you can only do this if you're registered as an apple developer... is there another way?  Although this issue isn't reproducible it occurs often enough that I see it at least a few times a week.  The details of the problem are:
    1. Network connectivity seems to drop permanently when trying to use the EDGE/3G/4G network in areas where the the signal strength is weak (this seems to be the trigger for the issue).
    2. Resolving the issue requires either rebooting the iPhone or toggling Airplane Mode.
Other factors that my influence this:
    1. I'm using AT&T's network so that may have a bearing on this particular issue.
    2. I'm not switching to a wifi network while doing this- so it seems exclusively tied to the AT&T data network.  However, I'd imagine that the bug may rear its head because the iPhone tries to switch to a wifi network when it doesn't see the data network available- note: I don't think the wifi dialog pops up when this happens so this is just speculation on my part.
    3. I saw this start happening after upgrading to the 5.1 but not immediately after upgrading, but pretty soon afterwards.  So, there could still be something else causing this- I provided the version 5.1 info because that may help Apple to try to figure out what changes introduced this problem so they can limit the scope of their investigation into this issue.
NOTE: I'm pretty sure this isn't hardware specific or specific to my phone.  A friend has encountered the same issue.  He told me that he works around the problem by toggling Airplane Mode (at the time I was rebooting my phone all the time which was pretty tedious).  He saw the issue start happening around the same time I did.
    Thanks!

I figured out how to log the bug, so I've done that here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
However, I'd still be interested if anyone else sees this problem and any other information that they can provide on it- i.e.
    1. did it also seem to correlate with iOS 5.1 for them?
    2. is it AT&T specific?
    3. is it iPhone 4 & 4S specific or does it apply to older iPhones running iOS 5.1?
    4. is it only specific apps that access the data network (I regularly use Newsify, Mobile RSS, Flipboard so one of these may be causing the problem if it isn't a general networking issue)

  • Neural Network Issue

    Please help
I am trying to run a Neural Network for my company. I have a data set that I already used to train a Logistic Regression function using SAS EG, but I wanted to see if I could better predict using a Neural Networkin SQL SSAS, given that my outcome (equal
to 1) is a rare event.
Using the same data set, I created a data mining structure in SQL SSAS similar to the one used to train my logistic regression model in SAS EG. In SQL SSAS, I set a Holdout Seed, so that if I left off at the end of the day I could work with the exact same
    model the next day.
However, when I ran the model 'the next day' I got different results, my score was different, my classification matrix was different, etc. And not just a little different, very different.
Based on further investigation, I found I had included some variables that had the potential to cause separation (as determined by SAS Logistic procedure). If I removed these variables, I could recreate my model 'the next day'. However, if I did
not have SAS EG, I would not have known which variables were problematic without going through quite a bit of work and testing. In SQL SSAS, there is no warning in the log to tell me which variables were causing my issue.
    So my question:
    In SQL SSAS
Is there a way to train a Neural Network Model and have it identify any variables that are causing a potential problem in the model?
Or is there a way to extend the training duration to make sure I acheive similar results each time I run the model?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hi TJ,
A lot of us are still looking at Azure for answers on this one. The problem is ongoing for many. While workarounds are available depending on context, it's nothing to do with the configuration of your servers, but rather to an unresolved problem at
    the Azure end.
