Meaning of "Quota (512B)"

Hi all, 
In Oracle 10g R2 EM Database Control, if you go to the following link: 
Maintenance-> Recovery Setting -> Media Recovery 
you will see there a table to fill in Archive Log Destinations. That table contains a column named "Quota (512B)". 
What that column specifies? What the 512B means?

Time Evaluation quota not transferred

Hi,
For a couple of employees when i run time evaluation, quota type 91 gets generated and transferred but quota type 93 does not. It remains 0.
On analyzing the logs, i found that for these employees, there is an entry in table QTTRANS with the quota amount that was supposed to be transferred.
According to doc on help.sap.com, {Table QTTRANS indicates the status of the transfer pool for each day. The cumulated entitlements are indicated until they have been transferred to the *Absence Quotas *infotype (2006) or until the entitlement has expired.}
This means the quota amount for quota type 93 is being generated, but is not being transferred to infotype 2006. Also, the transfer time in the rule is not being shown on ad-hoc basis for these two employees for this particular Quota type. The other quota type 91 which is evaluated on exactly the same basis is working fine.
I have checked the transfer period in config and it is monthly. Also, for other employees in the same grouping PSG, ESG, quota is being generated and transferred correctly.
Quota of 2.5 should be transferred on the last day of every month.
Further, analysis of QTTRANS over a period of time reveals the following results:

Mar05 Quota transferred : 2.5 ;Table QTTRANS: 5.0

For the entire year, it should have generated and transferred 30 but actually it is 25.

HI,
You can view in IT2006 accumulated Quota means current year Quota + carry over Quota. In Time cluster tables "QTTRANS" you can view Quota transfer value.

How to know if a MRP run element is using Quota Arrangement and lot size?

Hi all,
Two questions:
A) How to determine if a source is actually pulled from Quota Arrangement?
I am wondering if there is anyway from ABAP table or from Transaction (i.e. Purchasing Order) in which the source is pulled from a Quota Arrangement?
We use scheduling agreement, PIR and source list, and as well as Quota Arrangement for our purchasing.
I just want to know how, from system (table and transaction), to find out the source is from quota, not from PIR or others.
B) Quota Arrangement still can work properly if lot-size procedure's splitting quota indicator not Checked?
If my the lot-size procedure which I am using for a material does not activate the splitting quota indicator, it means split quota will not work during MRP run.
But does this also mean that quota arrangement will not be working for this particular material even if I have create a a quota arrangement object (via MEQ1) for this material?

If I want to use the split quota, it seems there is some pre-requisite.
If you go to MEQ1 and press F1's on the "Minimum qty split" column, and you will notice the following message.
Allocation by quota using splitting quotas is only carried out via a requirement planning run, subject to the following preconditions:
Through the appropriate entry in the field Quota arrangement usage (on the MRP data screen 2 or Purchasing screen) it must have been specified that a quota arrangement is to be applied in the planning run.
The indicator for the splitting quota must be set for the the lot-sizing procedure used for materials planning purposes in Customizing.
Hence, the quota arrangmeent still workable even if the lot-size does not have the spliting quota box checked?
Indicator: Splitting quota in short-term horizon
The indicator for splitting is used to determine that in the case of the selected lot size, the quota arrangement is to be applied using the splitting logic.
Use
If this indicator has been set, the lot is split up in the planning run according to the following formula:
quota for source X
Quantity for source X = --------------------- * requirement
sum of all quotas

How can I turn on/off the Archivelog Mode for a database by using the OEM, (say, I launched the OEM at http://My_Machine:1158/oem, after I log on where I go next)?

How to replace typewriter (straight) apostrophe with typographic (curly) apostrophe?

I have a manuscript I got off the Internet that has a bunch of isn?t's and wasn?t's and the like—due, I assume, to some miscommunication between MS Word's automatic curly quotes and the ASCII limits of ISO Latin 1. I tried doing a find-and-replace to put typographic apostrophes in place of the question marks. Pages found the question marks and put typewriter apostrophes in place of them, though I'd carefully entered a typographical apostrophe ((opt-shift-]) in the Replace field. So I tried again, to replace the typewriter apostrophes with typographical apostrophes. Pages now replaced the few typographical apostrophes I'd manually entered with typewriter apostrophes. Well, at least it's consistent. So far as Pages, Apple's flagship word-processing/page-layout app is concerned, there's apparently no such thing as a typographical apostrophe—something that was understood, as I recall, by the original MacWrite 25 years ago. So do I have to go back to doing all my editing in TextEdit (which seems to be much better at text work than Pages), or can somebody tell me how to persuade Pages to take care of this trifling little task correctly?

Copy these two paragraphs into a Pages WP document:

Open the Find & Replace dialog. Enter Find: ? and Replace: ’ (opt-shift-}). (I.e. replace question mark with typographical apostrophe.) Click Replace All. It should say 5 Replaced. Check any of the replacements by enlarging the type; you’ll see an ASCII apostrophe ['] rather than the requested typographical version [’].
Then enter Find: " (space-") and Replace: “ (space-opt-[), and click Replace All. It will say 1 Replaced, meaning the quote mark preceding "It" in the second sentence (the only quote mark preceded by a space). Enlarge the replacement to see it clearly; it's replaced an ASCII " with another ASCII ".
So far as I can tell, Pages’ Find-Replace function can't tell the difference between ASCII apostrophe/quote marks and the typographical versions. Maybe it will once you turn on smart quotes in preferences; I haven't tried that -- but then of course you'd get smart quotes when you don't want them, for instance for something to be posted on an Internet forum, which often doesn't understand them. (The problems above and similar, often seen on the 'Net, are due to MS Word's having smart quotes on by default, so unaware users compose material with them and send it out over teh Interwebz, where they sometimes come through correctly, sometimes don't.)
Try the same experiment in TextEdit; you'll get the requested typographical versions. And so I did, then copied the text back to Pages. Like I said, kinda shoddy for Apple's Pride & Joy word processor. AppleWorks, by the way, does it right.

Vs 2010 Query Builder

i'm using oracle 11.2.0.3 32 bit with vs2010 sp1.
I'm developing a windows application and i create a dataset file in order to map my db on it.
I want to add a custom select to a table adapter a i notice a problem.
My query is: SELECT simulatori.SEQ1.nextval FROM dual
simulatori is an oracle db and seq1 is a sequence.
If seq1 has a public synonym the query works, instead, if i want to specified the user also Query Builder quotes the simulatori user and the query doesn't work.
Why?

Not sure what you mean by "quotes the simulatori user". If you mean that it adds quotations in the query, then make sure that you are providing all upper case, eg "SIMULATORI". Otherwise, the quotes may trigger case sensitivity. That's just a guess. I will need more information.

UNLIMITED TABLESPACE vs MAXEXTENTS...

Let's assume that :
1)a db user has been granted the UNLIMITED TABLESPACE privilege....
2)all tables's extents he created have been full ....
3)the tables's maximum number of extents has been reached....
4)there is almost no other free tablespace empty..... so , it must be resized....
when a/some records in one table are going to be inserted.... what may happen....????
1) because of the maxextents number has been reached... so as there is no possibility another extent(s) to be added..., the records will not be inserted....????
2) because of the UNLIMITED TABLESPACE... the tablespace would be resized and as a result the records... will be inserted....????
In other words....which one is prevailing....
the UNLIMITED TABLESPACE.... or MAXEXTENTS .....????

unlimited tablespace privilege means tablespace quotas do not apply and you can create objects in any tablespace, including SYSTEM.
Consequently, granting UNLIMITED TABLESPACE should be avoided, as it allows the grantee to create havoc in your database.
Setting maxextents is a thing of the past. Usually maxextents is unlimited.
You forgot however: datafiles have limits too
As to your questions:
If you did set quota for the owner of the table and the quota is used up, the statement will fail.
However, usually one sets quota unlimited on the tablespace(s) the owner has access to, and one sets the tables maxextents to unlimited.
In that case the statement will fail when the datafile and/or the disk is full.
Final note: as altering quotas is quite easy, you could have experimented, and one proper answer would have been 'did you try?'

HTML Help Crashes RH7

Trying to generate a small HTML version in RH7 for my
portfolio . It runs through the process, and the first time I did
it there was a message indicating there was a "fatal error". So I
regenerated the MS HTML help, and this time it ran through all the
files, and then just suddenly closed RH completely! No warning, no
message. This has happened several times now. All I want is a
little file so I can showcase my talents.
Just wanted to pass this along to others.

Bus sends in LE are shifted when I turn on my MOTU ultralite

I just installed the 7.2 crossgrade and did all the software updates. It was happening in 7.1, but someone at MOTU told me that the crossgrade would take care of it.
It didn't.
So songs I had recorded pre Ultralite I have to shift the bus up two (say from Bus 2 to Bus 4) for it to be sent to the same bus.
Can anyone help me out with this?

MSI K8NGM-V chipset settings

HI boys, in the BIOS advanced chipset setting section of my MB is possible to choose the line width between NB ---- K8 and NB ---- SB, more exactly I can set 8 or 16. I suppose they are the bit ???. However I'm not very sure to know the meaning of this choice. Please, what does it mean?
