Mechanical Engineering CAD Softwares in Macbook Pro

I would like to buy a MacBook pro for my personal & official use. First of all I want to introduce myself, I’m Karthik mohankumar working as design engineer in hydraulics. Will MacBook pro run CAD software’s such as Creo 2.0, Solidworks, Auto CAD, Catia V5 & Ansys with bootcamp option.
Definitely I want to install & work Creo 2.0, Auto Cad & Catia in same system. If yes kindly suggest me the best configuration for MacBook pro. Also need to know the performance comparison between native windows & bootcamp windows to this software's, also battery backup.

AutoCad is available for the native OS X operating system. Neither Creo nor Catia are - they're Windows only programs.
You could run Windows under Boot Camp on a MacBook Pro and you would get the full hardware support available in Windows as a similarly configured Windows machine. You should have no problem running either under Boot Camp.
If you want to run all three apps concurrently, you could always run Windows as a virtual machine under something like Parallels (which is what I use). You have to share hardware with Windows in this case but I can run Photoshop CC under both systems at the same time and still render 3D in both OSs.
See ds store's excellent article - Windows in Boot Camp or as a virtual machine?
Good luck,
Clinton

What do you need for software engineering, a large screen? a large disk? a lot of ram  (like for 3d apps)? a lot of calculating speed?
I think that the answer is no to all, but what do you think?

How does one uninstall software from macbook pro?

I realized there was a super-easy solution to find the uninstall function to uninstall ProTools. i simply typed in uninstall protools in the internal search field (the one in the top right corner). Viola, there was the uninstall window and click, the software was gone. super easy!

Hard drive sensor or logic board failure.
Try a SMC Reset, only thing I can help.

  • Mercury Playback Engine not available on Macbook Pro Retina 15"

    Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro Retina 15" with 16gb of RAM and a 500GB SSD, and am trying to enable Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (Open CL) on a legitimate copy of Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.  For some reason the selection for that option is shaded and stuck on Software Only.  I have tried installing and enabling the nVIDIA CUDA driver but nothing has changed.  How can I fix this? Thanks.

Looking at this, it doesn't seem that the Retina MacBook Pro's NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M is on the list. And the NVIDIA CUDA driver will give you nothing but heartache (a frequent source of kernel panics).
You might want to take your question to the Adobe Premiere discussion boad to see if there are any current 'workarounds' -> http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere.

  • Engineering student wanting a macbook pro! HELP!!!

Ok, so my heart has been set on a macbook pro for a WHILE now.
But lately a lot of people have scared me into shock and are making me think twice about buying it...
I am a computer engineering student at the University of Florida. I have yet to use any specific engineering programs or software but I've heard that many of the programs I will need to use during the next few years will only run on Windows...
And I knoooow about bootcamp and parallels but I've also been told that using those programs makes windows run suppperrrr slooowwwwww and almost impossible to work with..
My plan was to buy the 15" MacBook Pro @ 2.4 ghz and up the memory to 4 gb...
pleeassseee!!! i need some more advice!!
i mean, im spending a good two grand on this laptop... i dont wanna make a mistake!!!
oh and btw, i also have a desktop pc running windows vista that ill have with me at my apt... but clearly its not portable lol... do u think ill be able to get by using those programs only at home? im thinking im gonna need them during classes... idk...
lastly, can someone gimme a list of the programs im gonna need??

    Please relax.
*"I've also been told that using those programs makes windows run suppperrrr slooowwwwww and almost impossible to work with.."*
    You were told wrong.
Macs are PCs just like everything else on the market. Therefore running Windows on them is no different than running it on any other PC.
*"lastly, can someone gimme a list of the programs im gonna need??"*
I'm sure the computer engineering department at your school has the definitive list of what you'll need.

  • HP Print Software for MacBook Pro and Windows 7 gone awry on HP OfficeJet Pro 8600

Almost one year ago today I wrote a post about my first problem with HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 N911.  Today I write my last.
I have an HP OJP 8600, with option Tray 2 included, and auto feed included.  My system test computers are:
    1.  Apple MacBook Pro, OS X 9.5, HP software is the only 3rd party software.
    2.  HP Laptop, Windows 7.
The OJP wireless radio gave up, so I cannot run it wirelessly.  It is connected by ethernet to my router.  All five of my computers can use.  All of the functions of the printer are usable.  For example: it prints, it scans, it copies, it faxes.  All functions working.  My problem is with the HP software download to the Apple and to the HP Laptop.
I would like to be able to use all of the feature settings when I print.  But alas, I cannot.  Both the Apple and the HP Laptop have a similar appearing window that opens when you choose to print something.  In theory, you are supposed to be able to control a range of paper types and quality, print type and quality, and (in my case with the two trays) what tray to use to select the paper.
I regret neither of the computers perform these functions.  And all of the mistakes that I find on the Apple computer I find on the HP Laptop Windows 7 computer.
I don't have the time to test every combination.  But I think the table below will help you get an idea of what the problem is with the software that HP sends offshore for maintenance.
The results of the paper quality selection, the print quality selection, and the tray availability are as follows:
    PAPER              PRINT QUALITY                         TRAY AVAILABILITY
    Plain Paper
    Plain Paper  DRAFT/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray              Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2
Thick Paper  DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
    HP Bright    DRAFT/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray              Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2
    InkJet
    Other        DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
HP Bright    DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
    Specialty
    Other        DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
    Card         DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
    Brochure
HP Brochure  DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
    Other        DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
In summary the new HP Print software for Apple and Windows 7 computers has identical programming mistakes on both operating systems.  Under no circumstances can I use the MAX DPI setting.
The user cannot use the features that are built in to the HP software because the paper selections override the locked tray, the print quality, and the unusually small list of HP selection of papers.
It is time to invoke my warrenty rights.  There are too many systemic problems with the software and the device.  I don't have any more time to act as an unpaid system test analyst for HP.
Who do I contact to use my warrenty before it runs out in a few weeks?

    Hi,
Those are not programming mistakes, but those are limitations of the product, please check the printer specifications below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02858465&tmp_track_link=ot_faqs/top_issues/en_u...
As you may find under Paper-handling specifications > Paper tray capacities, Tray 2 only support Plain Paper.
Maximum DPI is only only supported on Photo Paper, therefore those limitations are applicable.. these limitations are also listed on the Printing Specifications section above, Maximum DPI is listed as 4800 by 1200 dpi:
Color print resolution: HP enhanced photo quality with Vivera inks (up to 4800 by 1200 dpi Optimized on HP Premium Plus photo papers with 1200 x 1200 input dpi)
As well that can be find listed within the Print photos on photo paper or the Print borderless documents sections, you may simply search for Maximum DPI within the user guide as a reference:
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03026243.pdf
Those are not an issues with the printer but those expected limitations fully meet the product specification.

  • Adobe CC Video Software on MacBook Pro 13" i5

    I have the standard MacBook Pro 13" with an Intel i5 2.5GHz, 4GB RAM, a 500GB HDD and Intel HD Graphics 4000 512MB. It's running OS X 10.8.5
I have yet to have any big editing projects to do on it and I would like to know how it will hold up when running the CC video editing software.
The software the I use mostly is: Premiere, After Effects and SpeedGrade.
Will my MacBook be able to handle it?
I will be upgrading the RAM on my MacBook to 16GB here in the next couple of months. My main concern is the processor for long term use for editing. I know the RAM needs upgraded. I would really like to be able to edit on here smoothly, without any issues.
Will the 16GB RAM make a big difference in it's ability to handle the software?
    Thanks!

  • What is the best temperature gauge software for MacBook Pro?

My MacBook Pro (late 2011, i7 Quad 2.4 GHz, SSD, OS 10.8.5, 8 Gigs RAM) which I use for pro audio production has started stuttering while playing back audio a couple of times - only editing a stereo track with no plug-ins.  I thought it was my Glyph drive because my studio can get warm when the weather's hot in San Diego, even though I've never experienced this before.  However, I moved the current project to my internal SSD boot drive and it started again after using the computer for several hours.  I now think it's a heat issue effecting the laptop itself (it was 85 degrees F in my room).  I want to buy the best software for checking temperatures (CPU, drives, etc.) and am looking at both iStat Menus and Temperature Guage.
Are there any recommendations for which is best (or if something else is better)?  I would rather pay more for software that won't cause me problems when I'm doing large mixes, etc.
    Thanks!
    Robert

They all access the same data, so one's as good as another. iStat Menus is good for displaying a variety of information in the menubar for convenient access. But if all you want are temperature readings then I would select Temperature Monitor 4.98.

  • No volume since upgrading software on MacBook Pro...

Since upgrading my software on my macbook pro, I haven't been able to get any sound.  When I go into settings, it won't allow me to 'uncheck' the mute box. Anyone else experience this and how did you resolve it??

  • Samsung 850 Pro One-Stop Install Navigator Software on Macbook Pro?

Would anyone recommend using the One-Stop Install Navigator software with my MacBook Pro? I have the disc, but I was going to throw it away... Don't feel I need it, but I want to hear the community's opinion. Thanks.

Try going to the App Store Purchases tab on the HDD and download 10.8 to the HDD. When the installer starts, point it at the SSD. Before you install, make a copy of the installer so you won't have to download it again. You can make a bootable USB stick to install using this free program.

MacBook Pro 10.6.8 infected with Koobface Virus contracted @ facebook via Tag Friends App + Adobe Flash Player. Lost access to hacked fb page now shows as phishing site. How can I safely detect and remove malicious software?
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
OS X has got its own security systems, so you don't need any antivirus. Furthermore, they will only slow down your computer. If you want more information, read > http://www.thesafemac.com/mmg
If you want an antivirus, install ClamXav, but you don't need an antivirus

  • Burning software on Macbook Pro -- easy question, help please!

    Hi,
sorry to sound like a bit of a retard....
I am about to get a Macbook Pro (I am a mac virgin, switching from PC) and i was just wondering if Macbook Pro comes with a burning program included? and if so, what it is called?
    Thanks very much,
    Ani

Yes, the MacBook Pro comes with a program called "Disk Utility". It can burn CDs and DVDs. You can do it also via the Finder, the Mac OS X "explorer" - in Windows world it's called Windows Explorer.
Don't forget you can also install Windows on your MacBook Pro, and use PC burning software.
    Hope this helps.

  • Do I need internet security software for macbook pro

When I purchase my new MacBook Pro from Bestbuy, it came with free internet security software that is Mac compatible.  Do I need it?

I would not download and install any additional software if it was me...with a firewall in place, and good computing practices, the Mac OS X system does a great job of self-protection.  The info in Thomas's site is also a big help.
Also, keep in mind that the worst of the worst are Norton and McAfee for Mac OS X systems, and MacKeeper is generally considered to be malware in itself...almost impossible to remove once installed because of the way it hides files that keep popping up on you.
