Memory errors at Satellite P105-s6177

Hello all
I have Toshiba Satellite P105-s6177. It's been exhibiting classic symptoms of memory problems for months - I get random bsod's with reasons like MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, BAD_POOL_HEADER and a few others I can't quite recall, mostly something about a page fault in an unpaged area. it's been through multiple reformats to no avail. I ran the windows memory test and it said I had a RAM error within seconds of starting.
Recently I tried to reformat it from the backup discs that Toshiba provided with the computer, and the computer got a BSOD in the middle of the reformatting process. I've since tried a few more times, and get what Google tells me is a RAM error. I took out one piece of RAM, tried it, replaced the RAM and took out the other piece, tried it, and keep getting memory errors. I apologize as i don't recall the name of the specific error I keep getting, I will try to provide it as soon as possible.
Basically, i've narrowed it down to either both pieces of RAM being corrupted or a virus in the BIOS simulating a RAM error. Is there any way I can test for a virus in the BIOS? Currently I can't even get the computer to boot, it has no operating system installed on it due to the reformatting fiasco. The most I can do is bring up a command prompt.
Thanks for your time and attention.

Hi
> I ran the windows memory test and it said I had a RAM error
As you already posted in your first message everything looks like the RAM malfunction.
But these are only suggestions and in the forum nobody will be able to say exactly if this is really a memory issue without any detailed checks
So you will need to buy a supported RAM and would need to test it
Good luck

  • Satellite P105 - Can't install nVidia display driver

I tried completing the download multiple times for the nVidia Display Driver 9.7.5.4.
The first times the setup would not complete citing "that this computer does not have the correct hardware.." , then the Windows message came up and said that "if this setup did not complete successfully click here blabla" and I did that.
Now when I run the setup it still stops in the same spot. But now it says that *"the setup can not be completed because this driver only runs on Windows Vista, and this is not Windows Vista." But the thing is I do have Windows Vista!*

    Hi
    > Current Display Driver: Mobile Intel(R) 945 GM Express ChipSet Family
And then you want to install an nVidia display driver?
    LOL :D
I think you can not install an nVidia display driver because your notebook is equipped with a Intel chipset and graphic card.
You will never be able install nVidia display driver and so did get the message that you don’t have the correct hardware.
Intel graphic cards and nVidia graphic cards are different things so do not mix it!
Some P105 was equipped with nVidia cards and otheres with Intel card and it seems that you have an Intel card.

  • Windows XP OS hangs on start up - Satellite P105

From day of purchase my operating system would boot straight to windows.
This Tech jerk from HP did a remote so that I could print wireless. He changed settings that I had to fix but, the one I have now I can not.
When computer starts up now I get a Welcome with:
Please logon on to enroll your finger prints.
Press CTL-Alt-Delete to long on using password
    and
SQL Server that say -could not find the specified name instance (MicrosoftBCM)
Please specified the name of an existing instance on the invocation of Sqlservr.exe.
If you believe that you installation is corrupt or has been tampered with uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem.
I do not want to use the fingerprint software with the above message, I do not like.
I would like for my laptop to load straight to windows without logon stuff.
I attempted to fix the problem from Toshiba forum that suggested to change settings in the fingerprint management system. I tried that and it did not work.
    The settings as follows:
    1) Do not show Ctrl-Alt-Delete message (not checked)
    2) Allow power-on security single sign on (checked)
    3) Enable fast user switching support (not checked)System info: Satellite P105) with fingerprint option XP Professional (Service Pk 3), CPU T-2500 @ 2.00GHZ

  • Question about memory upgrade on Satellite A210-127

I upgraded my memory form 2Gb (2x1 Gb) to 4Gb (2x2 Gb) with two Kingston memory modules KVR667D2S5/2G (PC2-5300 CL5).
For two weeks there were no problems but then I got blue screen every time when system boots reffering to I guss memory error.
I tried to replace memory with original Toshiba's modules but blue screen remains. I have conctacted the service and they say that
it may be memory incompatibility, virus or hard disk malfunction.
After few days of working on the solution I reinstal my laptop with Toshiba DVD and replace original memory. Now everything works fine.
I wonder is Kingston memory cause of my problem or somethig else?
Does anyone know is Kingston memory KVR667D2S5/2G 2Gb compatibile with Toshiba?

I've got an answer forom Kingston Customer Service Specialist:
    Dear Mr. Sekovanic,
Thank you for your e-mail and for your interest in Kingston Technology.
Please note that the memory module with the part number KVR667D2S5-2G is a ValueRAM generic part, built to industry guidelines meeting the JEDEC standard. As they are not tested on any motherboard, we cannot guarantee compatibility of these modules with a specific system.
The branded memory module KTT667D2/2G is designed, manufactured and tested in a specific systems or system series, such as the Toshiba Satellite A210-127. Although the technical specifications are quite similar we do not recommend to use the ValueRAM module on a specific system as yours.
We trust that the above information will be of assistance to you. However, should you have further queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
    so it's not compatibille.

  • Memory problems on Satellite L30-101

I have a toshiba satellite l30-101 laptop and wanted to upgrade RAM, so i bought 2x 1GB sticks to put in it.
Now i couldnt find any 533mhz ones so i bought 2 667mhz after a spoke to a technical guy who said if i got 2 of same speed it would work fine.
Only it doesnt at all i can put one stick in and it runs fine with the 533mhz.
One i have in if i try and put both new sticks in it comes up with memory errors and I get the bsod which restarts my comp and would not allow me to run my games or other programs.
Is there anyway to make it so I can have both of the new sticks in as i really need the ram and dont want to buy diff ones.
I mean if I can get one to work other one should surely work right ?
please help im going mad trying to fix the damn thing

    Hi
I think the memory speed has nothing to do with the BSOD!
In my opinion the BSOD appears due to the memory module malfunction!
Furthermore the L30-101 supports only the 533 Mhz FSB. In this case you will be not able to run the 667Mhz memory modules with full speed.
The modules will run only at 533Mhz!!!
So in my opinion you should replace the faulty module with a one which works fine!
    Best regards

  • Satellite P105-S9337 will not start

I just had a customer bring in a Satellite P105-S9337 laptop. She said that at one point she did a system restore and then someone called her and they did something in her system - details are pretty sketchy there. Anyway, when I got it, I tried to boot it up, there are no beep codes; there is no flicker of video. I have tried to boot with the hard drive in; hard drive out; with a boot CD, without; reseated the memory modules; put a different hard drive in but still no video. I even tried hooking it to an external display - no video. I know in a desktop, I would look at the video card and/or mother board - any other thoughts on this?? Thanks.

    Satellite P105-S9337
Just try a system reset and see if that makes any difference. Power off the computer, unplug the AC from laptop, remove battery, press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds, replace battery and AC, power on, if/when you see the Toshiba logo press the 'F2' key to enter BIOS Setup, in setup press 'F9' to load setup defaults, press 'F10' to save and exit, and try to reboot into Windows.
Please let us know if it makes any difference. Good luck.

  • Memory expansion on Satellite 2410

    Hi
I am planning to expand the memory of my Satellite 2410-601. It has 256 MB DDR at present. I am planning on using one more 256 memory module to expand the total memory to 512 MB.
What I would like to know is whether I can use any of the DDR memory modules available in market? Would there be any compatibility issues?

    Hi
    Do you know this site?
    http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=5548&ft=m&st=3
Here you can find the details about compatible memory modules for Satellite 2410-601.
It seems that the notebook is able to handle the 200-Pin PC2100 (266MHz) DDR SODIMM memory modules!!!
You could upgrade the memory up to max 1GB (2x 512MB)
    >Would there be any compatibility issues?
Generally you shouldnt have any compatibility issues. Its only important that you use the supported modules.

  • Memory upgrade on Satellite A60-218

    Hi,
Is it possible to upgrade the memory for the Satellite A60-218 models?
I've heard that the memory is onboard (internal) and cannot be replaced. Is this true?
If not, could somebody give me a hint where can I find the memory modules on this model?
I have tried disassembling it without success.
    Thanks!
    Levente

    Hello
Just for info: Satellite A60 has 512 MB internal memory and one sot only is available for upgrade. This unit can handle with max 1,5 GB of RAM. On the bottom side in the middle there is placed memory module cover. Remove it and you will find RAM slot.
For RAM upgrade you can use follow compatible memory modules:
    PC2700 512MB (PA3312U-1M51)
    PC2700 1024MB (PA3313U-1M1G)
If you have more questions please write again.
    Bye and good luck!

  • A FIX for error message: When I try to open Snood (it's a game) I get this message.  Not enough memory {Error # :: 0, in sound.cp@line 101  Can you help?

After years of playing Snood, w/o problems, I started getting this error message, on my iMac, OS 10.5.8,
with 4 GB of memory when opening Snood:  Not enough memory {Error # :: 0, in sound.cp@line 101
My MacBook Pro w. Mac OS 10.6.8 did not have this problem.
Initially I thought that Snood raised its minimum requirement to Mac OS 10.6.
I had several correspondences with Snood. Their tech support is great. Quick and thorough responses.
They thought the issue was in Mac's system preferences/ Sound. It was.
I didn't realize that my sound input and output devices were gone.
The fix was resetting the PRAM. I found this advice on MacFixIt.com.
    MacFixIt help with volume:   http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10415659-263.html
Resetting the PRAM is on Apple support:   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
My sound (music!) is back, along with Snood. So glad I reset the PRAM before reinstalling the OS software!
Thank you to Snood, MacFixIt and Apple.
    Happy new year all!

    Good work, nice post/tip, thanks!

  • Acrobat XI Pro "Out of Memory" Error.

We just received a new Dell T7600 workstation (Win7, 64-bit, 64GB RAM, 8TB disk storage, and more processors than you can shake a stick at). We installed the Adobe CS6 Master Collection which had Acrobat Pro X. Each time we open a PDF of size greater than roughly 4MB, the program returns an "out of memory" error. After running updates, uninstalling and reinstalling (several times), I bought a copy of Acrobat XI Pro hoping this would solve the problem. Same problem still exists upon opening the larger PDFs. Our business depends on opening very large PDF files and we've paid for the Master Collection, so I'd rather not use an freeware PDF reader. Any help, thoughts, and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Chris

As mentioned, the TEMP folder is typically the problem. MS limits the size of this folder and you have 2 choices: 1. empty it or 2. increase the size limit. I am not positive this is the issue, but it does crop up at times. It does not matter how big your harddrive is, it is a matter of the amount of space that MS has allocated for virtual memory. I am surprised that there is an issue with 64GB of RAM, but MS is real good at letting you know you can't have it all for use because you might want to open up something else. That is why a lot of big packages turn off some of the limits of Windows or use Linux.

  • Acrobat XI Pro "Out of Memory" error after Office 2010 install

    Good Afternoon,
We recently pushed Office 2010 to our users and are now getting reports of previous installs of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro no longer working but throwing "Out of Memory" errors.
We are in a Windows XP environment. All machines are HP 8440p/6930p/6910 with the same Service pack level (3) and all up to date on security patches.
All machines are running Office 2010 SP1.
All machines have 2GB or 4GB of RAM (Only 3.25GB recognized as we are a 32bit OS environment).
All machines have adequate free space (ranging from 50gb to 200gb of free space).
All machines are set to 4096mb initial page file size with 8192mb maximum page file size.
All machines with Acrobat XI Pro *DO NOT* have Reader XI installed alongside. If Reader is installed, it is Reader 10.1 or higher.
The following troubleshooting steps have been taken:
    Verify page file size (4096mb - 8192mb).
Deleted local user and Windows temp files (%temp% and c:\WINDOWS\Temp both emptied).
Repair on Adobe Acrobat XI Pro install. No change.
Uninstall Acrobat Pro XI, reboot, re-install. No change.
Uninstall Acrobat Pro XI Pro along with *ALL* other Adobe applications presently installed (Flash Player, Air), delete all Adobe folders and files found in a full search of the C drive, delete all orphaned Registry entries for all Adobe products, re-empty all temp folders, reboot.
Re-install Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. No change.
Disable enhanced security in Acrobat XI Pro. No change.
    Renamed Acrobat XI's plug_ins folder to plug_ins.old.
You *can* get Acrobat to open once this is done but when you attempt to edit a file or enter data into a form, you get the message, "The "Updater" plug-in has been removed. Please re-install Acrobat to continue viewing the current file."
A repair on the Office 2010 install and re-installing Office 2010 also had no effect.
At this point, short of re-imaging the machines (which is *not* an option), we are stumped.
We have not yet tried rolling back a user to Office 2007 as the upgrade initiative is enterprise-wide and rolling back would not be considered a solution.
Anyone have any ideas beyond what has been tried so far?

I would like to upgrade the memory in my Satellite 1110-Z15 laptop and have been trying to find a list of approved memory manufacturers from toshiba, with no luck.
Does anyone know of any approved manufacturers for toshiba laptops as i cannot find the type of memory required on the toshiba electronic components site?

    Hello Sherbert
I have found information that your notebook can handle with 512 Mb max. I suppose that your unit has 256 MB already. You can use second 256 MB module and put it in a second slot.
Part number for 256 MB memory module is PA3127U-1M25.
