Menus are being covered by panels in gridbaglayout

I have a simple gui with the usual panels, toolbar & menubar designed using GridBagLayout. I've a vtkPanel - Visual Toolkit Panel (as ye probably know) which works very similar to a JPanel - for displaying graphics, added to one of the panels (using JPanel.add(vtkPanel); ) and this works fine but when I open a menu, directly above the vtkPanel, on the menubar the menu appears behind the vtkPanel! Even the tool tips for the toolbar buttons appear behind it? I've tried adding the vtkPanel directly to the GridBagLayout but the same thing happens! I was wondering if there was a "send to back" command for items in GridBag or something along those lines?
Any help would really be appreciated cos even though the program works fine, this problem makes it look awful!

Well I back again with a very similar problem. I have the JMenu sorted but I still can find a way of getting the ToolTip's to be displayed in front of the panel. I know that there's a setLightWeightPopupEnabled for ToolTip's too but I can't seem to get it to work. I tried...
ToolTipManager.setLightWeightEnabled(false);
But it gives an error saying that the non-static setLightWeightPopupEnabled cannot be accessed from a static context. It might also have something to do with the fact that I'm using Actions. I'm not sure.

ITunes blocks connection from remote devices when menus are being used

when any menu from the top menu bar is active (dropped down so you can see its contents), itunes refuses remote connections (iPod/iPhone) preventing you from starting stopping or otherwise controlling the remote computer. If the remote has not established a connection then it will be unable to, if it has an existing active connection then all commands will be queued until the menu is deactivated and at that time the computer goes crazy
Expected behavior is such that the remote controlling the device would be able to connect and communicate with the computer regardless of if a menu is dropped down.

Major Modules / Options Being Covered In SAP-Healthcare

Dear All,
We are in the process of finalising the software for our upcoming hospital. So in this regard, we shall like to know that which modules are being covered by SAP-Healthcare...? Does SAP covers modules like Patient Registration (OPD & Indoor), Out Patient management, OPD billing, Investigations reporting (pathology & Imaging), Indoor patient management, Pharmacy etc. Rest, as we understand, SAP can very well take care for modules like FI, MM, SD and HR etc. But , for a hospital, the above mentioned modules are very much desired ones.
So, Please Advide further.

Menu and sub menus are showing in the popup window

Hi,
We have seach PG, summary and Detail PG.
When we clicked on summary page link, detail page is opening in popup window.
JavaScript is used for this and toolbar=no,menubar=no used .
Still menus are showing below Oracle Branding image.
How to hide these?

hello, what do you see instead? please note that at the moment firefox hello also won't work when you've set up the browser to run in permanent private browsing mode ("never remember history" in the options > privacy panel).

After updating, menus are now transparent & windows in list view black!

I recently updated via the software update control panel some security updates and a few misc. other application updates and have now discovered that Finder pull-down menus are now totally transparent with the text appearing somewhat transparent (still readable with effort, depending on background clutter on desktop). Additionally, Finder windows in list view appear with black backgrounds and the text to folders and items within that window also is black meaning that I can only see the icons and am unable to read file and folder names.
Attempts to fix this problem have thus far included permissions repair, download and reinstall the 10.4.8 combo updater and these have not worked.
I am not blaming this issue on the updates, but it coincides in timing with that and I am quite puzzled. One interesting note is that a folder now exists on the main drive directory called "Developer," which was not there before.
Does anyone have a suggestion or an idea of what this could be?

Onyx may be causing problems. Don't use it on a non-backed up system, as cleaning caches may damage them, and make things not work. Make sure your Spotlight indexes all drives you wish to be searchable. Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Spotlight and add each hard drive to the Privacy section, and then remove it again. Then click on the Spotlight menu every half hour to see when it stops saying that it is indexing. It might take a few hours. But once done, it should be fixed.

Universal installer: certain files are being used by one or more appl.

I am trying to patch an 9.2.0.1 database to 9.2.0.3.
When i start Oracle Universal installer and specified the locations i got the following error:
Certain files which need to be reinstalled by Oracle Universal installer are being used by one or more applications.
Please close any running applications before continuing.
All services are stopped from the service panel! In the taskmanager there isn't any program running associated with Oracle. What is the hidden program that prevents my installation?

I guess this is Windows, try the following:
1) Rename $ORACLE_HOME\bin to something else
2) Reboot the machine
3) Rename back to $ORACLE_HOME\bin
4) Try installation again

KDE5 Application menus are not correct

I have always wrestled with little things like this when I toy with KDE. As you can see in this image, my menus are not correct. What is causing this? I'm sorry, but I always get lost trying to sort out what covers button styles, application menu styles, and desktop theme. I can't seem to get these menus to change, but they don't look like what I'm seeing in other's images.
I'm just testing out Plasma 5. What am I doing wrong?

Well it isn't listed as a dependency. At any rate, what I meant was that I hadn't explicitly installed it. If it was part of a group it would have been installed. I did have the breeze workspace theme. Where should one set qtcurve to affect the menus?

I updated thunderbird this morning. My version is now 31.2.0 and most of my Greek menus are replaced by english menus (not all of them). I need a fix as soon as possible, since i don't speak English (this mail was written by a friend).

Try this first:
Uninstall Thunderbird via Control Panel > Programs and Features
select 'Mozilla Thunderbird' and click on uninstall.
Then download a fresh version from here, selecting the correct Language and OS for your computer.

Mine appear in gray, too; I think that's just the style.
Does this problem occur on all pages? (If it only appears on YouTube or other pages with Flash players, it may be related to keystrokes being captured by the plugin.)
A standard diagnostic for possible interference by add-ons is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode ([[Safe Mode]]) using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

I have a OfficeJet Pro 8600. Most (8 out of 10) faxes being sent or received are being cut off. I or they only receive half the sheet. HELP!!!

Hello bonnie753, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are having fax issues. I would like to assist. Are you using the fax line that come with the printer? Are you plugged direct into a telephone wall jack or are you running into a modem? Do you have anything between the printer and the wall jack on the fax line?
I would suggest performing a power reset. Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also suggest changing a few settings under your fax menu on the front panel of the printer:
-Go to your setup menu
-Select Fax settings
-Set fax speed to slow
-Turn off Error Correction Mode

After Force Quitting, as LarryHN recommended,
Select the iPhoto Library in the Finder. By default it is in your Pictures folder.
Ctrl-click or right-click the iPhoto lIbrary. Select "Show package contents" from the panel, that will pop up.
Look for a folder named "Importing" or "Import". Remove this folder, but don't touch anything else.
Then launch iPhoto again.
If iPhoto now is working again, check the folder you removed, if there are any photos that you want to keep and save them.

Can you see which timeline clips are being used in Media Browser?

I'm a relatively new user and may not be familiar enough with cs5.5 but
is there a way to see what clips are being used on the editing timeline in the media browser.
I open premiere pro - Project is loaded. I edit the scene until it is finished.
When I look over at the media browser, all my raw clips (some of which I'm
using on the editing timeline) look the same - I can't tell which ones I using on the timeline.
The reason I ask - when I fiinish editing a scene it would be nice to glance over at the
media brower folder where my raw clips are located - easily see which ones I'm using because they
are highlighted or checked and then delete the ones I no longer need.
Is there a way to do this now?

I dont think so but a better way is to look in the top of the Project Window and there is a drop down that will show you all the useage instances of the clip. You can click on them to go to them in the timeline.

Proving prepared statements are being reused

How can I prove that a prepared statement from a JDBC driver is being reused / pooled ?
What essentially I want to do is to have prepared statements reused to reduce hard parsing ... but I also need to prove that the statements are being reused. If I query the statement in V$SQLAREA, the column PARSE_CALLS does not seem to be distinguish between hard parse and soft parse:

I am only interested for now in proving the just ONE statement is being reused ... which mean that the number of hard parses is very low compared to the number of soft parses for that ONE statement.

Hi,
No, parse calls is all soft and hard parse together. What you would see, if used absolutely correctly, would be 1 hard parse per session and many executions.
But since v$sql is obviously not linked to v$session other than at the time of exection, you see the aggregated parse calls and executions for each cursor. So what you should see is parse calls go up relatively slowly to the number of exections.
However, you can see soft and hard parses using the v$sesstat and v$statname views so you can see soft and hard parses on a session by session basis, be these are again aggregated, so you can't see soft / hard counts per cursor, only the total for a session.
What I see a lot of the time is they don't get it quite right, so hard parses is low but soft parses are high, so they are still parsing when they don't need to, but at least they are binding and using shareable SQL, which is a step in the right direction.
When I say 'they', it is a generic reference to all Java/.Nyet programmers writing front end code where they just don't 'get' parsing and binding because it's just too complicated and hey, SQL Server isn't like this...!

I install the photoshop cs6(x64) and i have the following problem. The UI text of the menus(not the toolbar drop down menus) are not readable so it's impossible to work with. After that, I completely uninstall the cs6 photoshop and i tried to install photoshop cc(x64)-with clean install- but the problem still exist.
Also I tried to change display settings from 1600x900(recommened)but the problem still exist...I send you some photos of the menus to understand better what I mean.Any suggestions? Specifications

Right click on your desktop and choose Properties, then choose Window Color, Advanced Appearance settings...
Click on the Message Text to look at your Message Box item settings. Is the font Segoe UI, 9 point, color black?
Also, in Photoshop, check your Edit - Preferences - Interface menu. What is your UI Font Size there? Try changing it to something else, closing and restarting Photoshop, then changing it back.
Lastly, you could try resetting your Photoshop preferences to defaults. Press and hold Command - Shift - Option simultaneously (or Control - Shift - Alt if on a PC) immediately upon cold-starting Photoshop. If you get the keys down quickly enough - and you have to be really quick - it will prompt you to confirm deletion of your current preferences, which will lead to the establishment of a fresh default set. If it does not prompt you, you haven't been quick enough to get the keys down.
