Merging photos with actual size

I am new to photoshop and to the Adobe family. I have a question and hoping to get some help. I am trying to merge two photos and want the merge with actual sizes. One photograph is of a 9ft tree and another a picture of a 3 ft kid. The scales are different for the photos so how can i merge the photos so that they look same scale from their actual sizes.

If you need to see the underlying layer to better assess how much you need to scale you can temporarily change the Opacity of the Layer in the Layers Panel (or by hitting one number with the Move Tool (V) selected; the active Layer will then be set to that number times 10 in percent – so hitting »5« will set it to 50% Opacity).

Photos shown actual size in iPhoto 10?

My photos in Mavericks are now SMALL and won't fill the window even when fully zoomed. Now I have photos that are smaller than their thubnails!
In every other version of iPhoto, the photo filled the window by default - why did Apple do this??

I went from Snow Leopard to Mavericks, skipped Lion & Mountain Lion. In Snow Leopard, and every other version of iPhoto I've used since it came out, the zoom bar was just for sizing thumbnails. When double clicking a thumbnail, the photo would open and fill the window, and the zoom bar became greyed out.
In Mavericks, double clicking the thumbnail opens the photo in actual size, and the zoom bar is active and all the way to the left by default. If it's a big photo, it fills the window. But the problem is, if it's a small photo, which a lot of mine are because they came from emails, web, etc, even when fully zoomed, theyr'e really small.
Even in full screen mode, they show in actual size instead of filling the screen. I was told by a senior advisor that this is the new way they're doing it, but he didn't know why. I found that strange. After a few more calls to Apple tech support, all I could get was "that's how iPhoto is now". One advisor suggested that I get iPhoto from Snow Leopard and move it into Mavericks, so that's what I did. The photo viewing is now back to normal, with photos filling the window, but it won't sync proerly with my iPhone 5S.

Please give me a step by step (click by click) information on how I can get the ice above the flower and then make the ice partly transparent so the flower is seen underneath. Open a new document big enough for your image. Then additional open your ice and flower image as well. Copy each and paste it into your blank document. They will be placed on their own separate layers.
Make sure in your layers panel. (Bottom right) the ice is above the flower, by dragging it in place. In that same layers panel click the ice layer to select in and find the opacity meter above. Drag to the left until you get the effect you desire.

Syncing Photos with reduced size

Initially when I sync photos between my computer and iTouch, there is an option of whether to keep the original size of those photos. After I switched to a different folder to sync photos with iTouch, I do not have that option from iTune. can someone help? How I can make that switch?

This isn't a direct answer, since I'm not running Photoshop Elements on a PC, but what you describe works perfectly with geotagged photos coming from iPhoto on my Mac. Photos taken in Texas and parts of Europe west of Greenwich show up fine; photos taken in Tunisia do also. I wonder if there's something funky about the EXIF information for the photos that don't show up? For whatever it's worth, here's the data from one of my Tunisia photos that DOES show up in Places on my iPad:

Trouble exporting photos with correct size

I took some pictures of a friends daughter for her senior pictures and the school has very specific size requirements for photos submitted. They state they have to be 2.5" high and 2.0" Wide and 300 resolution.
I set these dimensions in the export box under image sizing but when I go back to check the size after export it isn't correct. The width came over correct but the height comes over at 1.976". I've tried checking and unchecking the box "don't enlarge" and I get the same result.
I did crop the original photo.

Without seeing the photo, there's no way for us to tell. It may be you need to take another head shot with more "space" around it so the crop will work. Wedding photographers do this all the time, their initial photo has lots of unneeded "space" around the subject so that they can crop at various different aspect ratios.

How to merge Photos with events?

I downloaded photos from a new camera today into a newly upgraded to iphoto '11 file. They appear in the "photo" databasebut are not in the Events file. How can I get them organized into that format too?

I "found" the events in question but now have another problem. My photos are organized by date, starting in 2007 with the oldest at the top and the most recent dates at the bottom. The newest imports went to the very top of the organizational scheme and I need them to appear at the end if possible. Is there a way to direct them as I want them?

Not able to send yahoo emails through 'Mail' with attachments size 5 MB or more.

I am not able sent mails though 'MAIL' with attachment size more than 5Mb or more. I am using macbook pro and 10.8.3 OS X. Can anyone tell me how we can sent mails with resonable size? pls note that I want to send mails with actual size.

All email service providers have a size limit on sending an email. See the following link for info on yahoo mail's file size restrictions, and ensure you are within this restriction.

How do I set up iPhoto '11 version 9.2.1 to send emails with medium/Large/actual size? I try sending photos to a publisher and iPhoto automatically shrinks them to about 40 kB. Publisher needs between 0.5 and 7 MB. My ISP has a limit of 12MB

My photos, taken with a common Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ20 include flora which I send to a publisher.
I am fairly new to my MacBook (Mac S X Version 10.6.8). I have been using it for a year.
I found I could not successfully send Large or Full size photos.
A few days ago I downloaded a new version of iPhoto (iPhoto '11 version 9.2.1).
Again, although I get the option of choosing to send small/medium/large//full size photos, it actually only sends them as "Small" (ie about 40kb) which is useless to publish. If I drag a picture onto the desktop (where my EXIF tells me it is full size) then attach it to an email by dragging, againg the sent email is at "small" size ~40KB).
My ISP (Westnet) tells me that their maximum accepted size is 12 MB.
I suspect that I have failed to set up iPhoto for this purpose. (I am well into retirement but, although geriatric, did study University Physics about half a century ago)

I was a dolt and tried to email 8 photos (actual size) from my iPhone 4S and now my phone has been "working" trying to send for four days. Verizon has texted me that all my data for monthly plan is now used up and I am not able to "cancel" send for the message. Does anyone know how to cancel an email that is being sent?

Put your phone in Airplane mode, go to the mail app & see if you can delete the stuck mail now. If not, while still in Airplane mode, send yourself an email, it will go to the outbox, see if you can now delete both.

Iphone 4s, i cant email photos "actual size" they only go through with "small" setting, V Frustrating!

I just figured it out! I set the email account I am using to try to send the photos as my default account by going to General > Settings > Mail > scrolling down to Default Account. Mine was set as my iCloud account. I switched it to gmail and now I can send photos.

Here is my suggestion:
Open a blank, new file (File>new>blank file) size 8.5x11"
Open the collage
Go to Select>all
Go to Edit>copy
Go back to the blank file created in step #1
Go to Edit>paste. The collage will be on its own layer
Access the move tool, and with the corner handles resize the collage. Using the corner handles should preserve the aspect ratio. If you open the rulers, you will have a point of reference as you go along.
Print a draft copy to see if it will be suitable in the frame..
Please report back with your progress.

about the duplicating photos with varying resolutions and Sizes problem... I have a band-aid fix to this without deleting everything in your phone. What you do is to find time to actually MANUALLY DELETE the extra photos. Don't delete it by Taping on the Album app and deleting everything on the home photos.
Instead tap the album then on the UPPER LEFT CORNER (If you've updated the albums) tap the 3 bars beside the album icon to access the album menu, then tap the FOLDERS choice.
You should see alot of folders with Thumbnails named with numbers and different resolutions. Delete all the folders labeled as Thumbnails or cache. *note that you cannot delete whole folders but the folder gets deleted automatically after all the contents inside it is deleted
Afterwards, go to your phone's settings->App-> Album
Then tap the Clear Data button
After that restart your phone.
This actually "fixes" the problem for a while but usually after a few restarts or Phone charge the folders comeback and you have to redo the whole process again. But the folders that are made becomes fewer than the 1st occurrence of this problem and deleting the photos shouldn't take as long as the 1st.
Honestly i think this is definitely an Application bug and should be fixed by Sony, since you know its their built in app for Multimedia

yea that also helps since it's a bug caused by the new update. I'm just waiting for Sony to fix the bug, i don't really mind deleting the thumbnails

Sending "Actual Size" photos

Hi- I tried to email a photo from iPhoto with the "actual Size" setting. But, it was "too large" for my server. So, is there something on my MacBook that will allow me to compress some photos and send them actual size in an email. Similar to zip files. Please walk me through this process. Nope. You really can't put ten pounds in a five pound bag. The problem is that the "jpg" format is already compressed. You're trying to condense orange juice that's already been condensed!
You used "Zip" as an example and, yes, you can Zip a jpg but it won't be any smaller than the original jpg and frequently it's a bit larger.
The reality is that email is lousy for photos (and even worse for movies). Kinda like getting a new refrigerator delivered to your curbside mailbox. Your best solution is to rent server space (e.g., dot-Mac). Upload your photos and other large files to the server and allow friends and family to download from there.

Actual Size (Full Quality) photos being e-mailed at reduced sizes! Why?

Yesterday I e-mailed six photos to a party in Nova Scotia. Because of the large file size of the photos--ranging from 6.7 MB to 9.2 MB--I opted to e-mail each photo individually. In iPhoto I chose the Actual Size (Full Quality) size setting for each photo.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that every photo was e-mailed at a reduced size. For example, the indicated attachment size for the 6.7 MB photo was only 4.6 MB, and for the 9.2 MB photo only 6.1 MB. This is the first time I have noticed photos being e-mailed at reduced sizes even when the Actual Size (Full Quality) size setting has been chosen.
I would appreciate knowing what is going on here and what I need to do to remedy this situation.

The problem remains unresolved. I followed your recommended procedure and got the same bizarre result!
I selected in iPhoto the same 9.2 MB photo I e-mailed to Nova Scotia yesterday, clicked on the Email icon, and selected Actual Size (Full Quality). The Mail 1 Photo window correctly showed the estimated size as 9.2 MB. I clicked on the Compose Message button which took me to the E-mail message window. I verified that the Image Size indicated at the lower right hand corner of the window was Actual Size. Interestingly enough, the Message Size indicated in the lower left hand corner of the window was 8.2 MB. Somehow my photo size was reduced 1 MB in the process of it being prepared for E-mail delivery! I then e-mailed the photo to myself. When I opened it up it showed 1 Attachment, 6.1 MB. This is the exact same result I got when I originally e-mailed this photo to Nova Scotia.
My primary concern here is that the quality of these photos is likely being compromised by this size reduction phenomenon which I have not previously noticed. I'm wondering whether this is a problem with iPhoto '09, Version 8.1 (415) to which I just recently upgraded from iPhoto '06. For your information I have also long employed iPhoto Library Manager (Currently version 3.5.5).
Perhaps you can try this same procedure and see if you get the same goofy result. I'll be eagerly awaiting your reply and advice on how to resolve this issue.
