Merging songs into an existing playlist

Simple question - If I have a particular playlist on my iPOD nano, and want to ADD songs from my iTunes library to that playlist - not delete those already there - can I do that?

If you are updating automatically drag the songs from the iTunes library to the playlist in iTunes then connect your iPod and it will update the change you made. If you are updating your iPod manually just drag the songs from iTunes to the playlist on your iPod:
Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Windows
Managing content manually on iPod

For the moment there isn't a way for us end-users to control what is "matched" or "uploaded." That is purely a result of Apple's server-side algorithms.
To re-add multiple songs at once simply highlight all the songs you want to re-add, then right-click (or Control+click) the list and choose "add to iCloud."

Open the Playlist you want to add the song to. Then tap on "Edit", then tap on the + sign.
Then search for the song, tap on the red ( + ) sign to add it to the playlist, and then tap on done.

  • Adding songs to an existing playlist on an iPad

I Have an existing playlist which I created. It's not a Smart Playlist. Now that I finished the list a while ago I'd like to add more songs from my music library. There doesn't seem to be an obvious way to do anything but delete songs. Does anyone know how to add songs to an existing playlist on an iPad?

I assume that the songs are already in the Music app on your iPad.
Go to the Playlist tab in the Music App and select the Playlist that you want to add songs to. Tap Edit in the upper left - above the first song in the list. Then tap the red + sign in the upper right portion of the screen. Scroll/swipe down through your songs and then tap the + signs to add the songs to the Playlist. When you are finished, tap Done.

  • When I add a new song to an existing playlist, will it automatically sync to my iPod once connected to my computer?

When I add a song to an existing playlist on iTunes, will it sync to my iPod once connected?
I'd rather not have to remember each specific playlist I add songs too to sync it to my iPod.
I do have automatic sync set up, starting today because I got tired of constantly manually adding music.
ALSO, if I deleted songs in iTunes, will it delete them in my iPod as well once connected to my computer?

Yes, your data will be updated every time you sync.

  • Can't drag and drop songs into a new playlist

I can't seem to drag and drop songs from my itunes library into a new playlist in order to burn a cd.  Any suggestions?  I've tried closing out and restarting but that didn't work.  thanks!

You may have clicked one of the categories that reordered your sonds (ie Name or Artist). This make is override any drag and drop. To allow drag & drop within a playlist:
Look near the top at the Title of your playlist
Click on the far left hand column (probably has numbers in it). This organinzed songs by the numbers listed there instead of by Name or Artist or whatever....
Now you should be able to drag & drop.
    Hope this helps. Blessings!

  • Adding songs to an Existing Playlist

I've got songs in the iTunes music folder and created a playlist with selected tracks. I now want to add additional songs to the existing separate playlist. For whatever reason, I can't seem to copy an additional song(s) to the playlist that I previously created, the copy/paste command will not work. What can I do?

You don't copy paste to a playlist.
Just drag a song to it.
You cannot drag songs to a smart playlist.

  • Can I combine or merge songs into a single album?

When I view my albums in iTunes, many are fragmented into several albums. This is especially true for albums that contain songs by several artists, like "Saturday Night Fever" but also for albums by the same artist like "Future Shock" by Herbie Hancock. the track "Rockit" appears as the single entry (track 1) for one album, and tracks 2-6 appear as a second album.
I've tried dragging and cut/pasting and can't seem to get the songs onto one album. This is especially frustrating for albums like "Saturday Night Fever" where it appears in iTunes as almost a dozen albums with one track each.

This shouldn't have been that complicated, but I had to stumble across the tick box for "is compilation"
    * I have "edit/preferences.../advanced/group compilations when browsing" box checked but the individual tracks in a compilation still show up as separate albums. Didn't help
    * Got joy only after fincing and checkint the compilations box in the GEt Info/Info box for each song in the compilation
Thanks for getting me on the right road. The iTunes HELP files were no help

  • Merging Songs into One Album

    Hey iTuners
I have been meaning to ask this question for a while. I have some old CDs that I have tried to import and a track or two has failed importing due most likely to some damage that has happened to the original CD. I have bought the "broken" track or two from the iTunes Store to complete my album. The problem is that iTunes shows two Albums for the same artist with the exact same album name - one album has the purchased music in it and the other one has the imported music.
How can I merge these two albums together?
Thanks a bunch guys and girls.

    Welcome to AD!
1.) +When i import a CD when offline into my itunes library it does not recognise a whole album as one entity+
Select all the tracks before you import it, go to the OPTIONS tab and uncheck "part of a compilation". Then put Album Artist = whoever the artist is
The Artist field can still say "Pink feat. Somebody"
This excellent page by a regular forum poster has an in-depth explanation

    2) I don't understand your question
    3) +Sharing - i have just bought a laptop to share it with my partner.+

Pay attention to the part about sharing music between accounts on the same PC so you don't have multiple copies of the same tracks

  • Can't drag songs into a playlist

    Hey folks,
I'm having trouble creating playlists and adding songs to playlists.  I've done this before (last year) but tonight I can't drag a song from iTunes store into an existing playlist and when I create a new playlist, it doesn't show up on the right hand side of the window just on the lefthand side.  I can drag songs from an existing playlist into a new playlist, but I've had no luck with new songs.  I just downloaded the latest iTunes version.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

just a thought but make sure when you make a new playlist its not a "smart" playlist.

  • New purchased songs can not be sync to an existing playlist...

I purchased 2 songs through iTunes' store after I have updated my iPhone to iOS 4.2.1.
There is an existing playlist and 10 tracks are in it.
I just relized, if I add these 2 new songs into this playlist via iPhone (I can see and play these 12 tracks on the phone), and then connect to Mac use iTune to backup, everything is working fine and purchased items will be transferred successfully *except these 2 songs will be removed out from the playlist* (the playlist is showing back to these 10 old tracks)
Tried it many times and all same, never happened this before...
Looks like the new songs can never be added into an existed playlist.
Is anyone facing the same issue?

    Hi ,
Reconcilation is for linking the account basically not for populating of attributes.
For this you may have to try activeysnc or bulk load.
IN active Sync you can set the active sync form where the attribute can be set.
In bulk load, you can give the command option , give all the users and then the attributes and values you want to populate.

  • How do I move a song from my iphone to an existing playlist on the iphone?

I've posted a couple questions about playlist issues that lots of you have read, but no replies, so maybe my issue is just mine.
That being said, I can't get playlists to transfer from my computer to my iphone.  The songs come over, not the playlists.
I can manually create a playlist on my phone, but once I've created it, I can't add songs to it.
Is there a way to add songs to an existing playlist without creating a new playlist on my iphone?  I've given up on figuring out what the issue is with the playlists not moving from my computer to my phone.  Like I said, the songs come over, not the playlists, so I've got the music I want, I just need to make the music I want functional and have the ability to add to the new list if I want to.
I don't always want to suffle all.
Any thoughts or advice?  Seems there ought to be a function / button to add sond to existing playlist in itunes.  Apple, are you listening?  Seems like an easy and useful addition.
If this function is available, can anyone tell me how to do it!
    Many thanks!

You just drag them and drop them where you want them to go.  If you don't want to keep the original on the source drive, you'll want to delete it afterwards.
What do you mean "some pics don't work?"  Don't work how?

  • Can't drag songs into playlists or move in playlists easily

I have upgraded to Lion and the latest iTunes and now I am finding it VERY hard to move tracks in the program. For example, dragging a track from the library into an existing playlist is **** near impossible. And when I FINALLY get it in there it is ABSOLUTELY near impossible to move it’s position up or down on the playlist. What gives? Any ideas?

Before anyone suggests the following I have tried this already:
    •restarted itunes
    •restarted mac
•made sure shuffle is turned off
•made sure the playlist order is selected
Also, it is NOT a smart playlist. I know you can’t drag tracks into smart playlists.
    Thanks in advance!

  • How to import cd into existing playlist?

In the new (12.0.1) iTunes, how can I import the contents of a CD into an existing playlist? It appears I have to import the contents into my general library, then drag the imported titles into an existing playlist. Two steps, where before there was just one.

In the previous version of iTunes, the CD contents could be dragged directly into an existing playlist folder and imported that way. One step. Of course, it was added to your full library, but you could import it to a target folder. That shortcut has been eliminated, it appears.
