Message access Profile (MAP)

Is bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP) plan to be supported by IOS5  ?

Does the Apple/Ford community know why the iPhone will not or doesn't plan to support the map profile. I'd figure since the iPhone is the most popular phone on the planet, they would atleast intergrate that function in their phones. Smart phones need to be able to play nice with smart cars.

Will the iPhone 5 support BT Message Access Profile (MAP)?

According to this article: http://www.macworld.com/article/1167240/ios_6_features_you_might_have_missed.htm l
It does...  I saw a photo of the relevant slide that was put up during the iOS 6 announcement, but am too lazy to look for it now.
It's possible it may not have made it into the final release. Apple never made any statements about it as far as I know beyond the slide referenced.
Near the end of the iOS portion of the keynote, Apple showed a slide listing a host of other features included in the iOS 6 update. Among those were Game Center challenges, the ability to connect Game Center friends from Facebook, VoiceOver improvements, personal dictionary in iCloud (for adding your own terms to the dictionary, which can sync between devices), and per-account signatures in Mail. Also on the list was improved privacy, which—as a new option in Settings—will let you control which apps can access which bits of personal data, like your Contacts, Calendar, or Photos. Other features on the list included autocorrection for every keyboard,Bluetooth MAP support (which is commonly used to help cars better offer hands-free communication with Bluetooth devices), kernel ASLR (which aims to make data even more impervious to snooping from malicious attackers), custom vibrations for alerts, redesigned stores (for the App and iTunes stores), IPv6 support for Wi-Fi and LTE, word highlights for speak selection, improved keyboard layouts, alarms with songs, and faster JavaScript in Safari. Apple also says iOS 6 includes a global HTTP proxy option, which would supplant the current approach, limited as it is to per-connection proxy settings."

  • Does iOS 5 support the Bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP) for interacting with text messages in Ford Sync?

I'd sure love to take advantage of Ford Sync's ability to read aloud and let me interact with bluetooth text messages by voice.  I had heard rumours that iOS 5 was going to support the Bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP) like other phone manufacturers, but in my latest update I received while testing and reading other non-Apple sites, that appears not to be the case.
Is this something I'd have to upgrade to the iPhone 4S to otherwise get?
It's not Siri I'm interested in, just this particular feature to allow the phone to interact with my vehicle.  If there's a 3rd party app out there that helps I'm open to that idea too.  Thinking about what my next smart phone's going to be with LTE, and this is weighing in on my decision, lots of enterprise users out there with Ford as their company fleet vehicle too (hint hint!).  A nice way to save lives too for those who refuse to not read/reply to texts while driving (I'm not in that club, but many are).
    Kind Regards,
    Brian

For the public record, here's the feedback I submitted based on Allan's suggestion.  Thank you both, guess I'll just cross my fingers and hope others share their feedback in a positive way to Apple too.
I'd sure love to take advantage of Ford Sync's ability to read aloud and let me interact with bluetooth text messages by voice.  However it requires phones to support the Bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP) like Android and other phone manufacturers.
Humbly requesting this is something that gets added to a future iOS update.
It's not Siri I'm interested in, just this particular feature to allow the phone to interact with my vehicle by using the vehicles embedded voice and heads-up display commands.
    Advantages:
    (1) Gives one less reason for Apple people to stray to Google
    (2) Saves lives too for those who refuse to not read/reply to texts while driving
    (3) Keeps drivers behaving legally (outside of common sense, many provinces and states have enacted laws to try and protect people against themselves)
    (4) A critical enterprise feature if Apple is attempting to continue to break into that market, most fortune 500 companies that have employees using fleet vehicles use Ford, but frankly other manufacturers coming to market with these features too.
Thanks for consideration around this feature.  If you'd like to understand the use-case more or be pointed to threads in the discussion forum and 3rd party websites begging for this feature, happy to discuss.
    Kind Regards,
    Brian R. Kneebone

  • BT Message Access Profile (MAP)

There was this app for Symbian Anna enabling my car to work with the messages of my Nokia E7-00 business phone. After updating I wonder, why Nokia Belle does not support this app
Is there any information I have missed or is there actually no way for me to use my Nokia E7-00 business phone with my car to browse, read, generate and send SMSs and e-mails on my car?
I cannot imagine any common-sense reason why Nokia decided to discontinue this extremely helpful business application in Nokia Belle. Does Nokia Belle introduce less business and less comfort? Will it be updated?
Are there any other solutions to make BT MAP profile work on my Nokia E7-00 / Symbian Belle?
For a business phone offering the most important bluetooth profiles is imperative. For Nokia in particular it is imperative to offer the best. There are only two reasons why I use Nokia: quality, business usuability. So at the moment no way for Windows Phone, because nearly all features, which distinguish Nokia from others are gone on Windows Phone. Do not debase Symbian standards - keep them and btw add them to Windows Phone standards on upcoming Nokia phones!

This app works fine on my Nokia n8 Belle. But nokia will not let you download from the app store. I had to downgrade to Anna and download the app and save the file . Then updated the phone to belle and installed the app. It works fine. I contacted nokia support to get the app but they did not help me. I can confirm it works from my experience. i am attaching the sis file if some body needs. I hope noki will not delete that.

  • Will the iPhone 4S with Bluetooth 4.0 support the Message Access Profile (MAP)

I ask this question as a Ford owner that uses Microsoft Sync or MyFord Touch and would LOVE for my vehicle to support reading my text messages, sending contact photos via bluetooth and finally song titles, artists & album art via Bluetooth and I believe this is the key Bluetooth profile needed.
Any Apple experts/system administrators have any feedback? Thank you!

  • Does the iPhone 5 have message access profile

Does the iPhone 5 have MAP message access profile?

Not sure; I haven't seen any documentation on it but I assume it would work for the 3GS or higher.  (Doesn't look like this has been updated to include the MAP feature: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647.)

  • HT204387 Does any one know if the bluetooth MAP (Message Access Profile) is supported in IOS6 for the Iphone 3GS ?

I have heard that this is now supported and that this will allow me to push the notifications to my BMW and to send SMS through BMW ConnectedDrive.

    Allan,
    Here is the link:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1578 (bottom of page)
As stated below support for Bluetooth MAP in 4S and 5 is not the discussion. Is that the page seems outdated.
The issue is whether ios6 supports this feature in the 3 GS.

  • How to activate message access profile

I paired my iphone to my car with bluetooth, the car has the capability of showing your messages and email, but they don't show, the car's manual says I need to have MAP activated, how can I do this?

    iOS 7 Handfree message setup
Pair your phone with the vehicle using the proper steps for individual vehicle.
    In you iPhone open settings
    Open Bluetooth connections
Locate the head unit device. This is located below the Bluetooth on/off slider. A standard name may be Car Multimedia, locate your head unit name. There will be a button off to the right shaped like a lower case i with a circle around it, tap that and it will open up settings for the device/vehicle.
    Turn on "Show Notifications"
Go back to home screen and turn phone off then turn it back on.
While your vehicle is still on and your phone completely boots up they should connect automatically and the text messages should start coming through your vehicle as long as it's turned on in the vehicle settings.

  • Update to Message Access Profile

I want to be able to use my BB with my SYNC software in my vehicle to hear my text messages. When will we get an update to our devices that will permit this?  Other phones have the standard working, when will my BB. Or will I have to buy a different phone that is compatible?

This is actually not a MAP update that is needed as neither the SYNC, nor those other phones support MAP, as of yet.

  • Cisco ACS 4.2.1.15 for Windows and Network Access Profiles

We are attempting to configure ACS 4.2.1.15 on Windows Server 2008 Member Server. Initially I only have the need to authenticate Network Admins for device administration and authenticate Windows AD groups using PEAP authentication. The general problem that I am having is that if I configure a Cisco 1200 Access Point  for PEAP and also setup The Access Point for Radius authentication pointed to the ACS server it always maps to the the first Network Access Profile and rather than it trying the second it will error sayiing some condition is not met depending on what changes I make. Can someone tell me what the criteria that is used to determine what NAP is used? According to the manual if all 4 criteria are not met then the Profile will not apply.
I am using one ACS group that is mapped to an AD group for Wireless Access and a Second ACS group mapped to an AD group that includes the Net Admins. This group mapping appers to be working as the user group name seems to mapped correctly in the logs.  In short I have tried only configuring the Wireless NAP to only Allow EAP authentication using PEAP EAP-MSCHAPv2 and the Netadmins profile to include all protocols. Bascially what happens is if I have the Wireless NAP first it works fine for PEAP authentication on Wireless but if I try to administer the access point and provide credentials I get a message in the failed log that the authentication profile is not allowed in this Network Access Profile. Why does this not just go onto the next Network Access profile?
I am familiar with version 3.2 but it does not seem to work the same.
Any help would be appreciated on what I am missing.
    Thanks

    Hi Surenda,
Thanks for your reply. Nop, there is no WLC yet, but the WLC will be installed shortly.

  • After updating to Firefox 7.0.1, menu bar for Google, yahoo, Facebook (message, notification, profile, home) and others site are disabled. How can solve this problem?

after updating to Firefox 7.0.1, menu bar for Google(web ,image, video, map etc),yahoo, Facebook (message, notification, profile, home) and others site are disabled. even I cant log out from different sites cz the log out bar is completely disabled. I tried with Firefox 4;5 and 6, same problem exist . I tried by active all add ons for facebook, same problem exist. If I use internet explorer , I don't find such problem with it.
How can I solve this problem?

Thanks a lot for your swift response. And sorry if it was a bit too hectic to go through my detailed query (which I did because it was misunderstood when I asked previously). As I've mentioned above, I was informed that updating to 5.0.1 would '''require''' me to '''delete''' the current version and then install the new one. And doing so will involve losing all my bookmarks. I guess I should have been more specific and detailed there. By losing, I didn't mean losing them forever. I'm aware that they're secured in some place and deleting and installing the software doesn't harm its existence. What I meant that if I install the new version, I'd have to delete the old one. And after installing the new version, I'd have to transfer them (bookmarks) back from wherever they are. Get it? When it updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.13, and from 3.6.13 to 3.6.18, I didn't need to follow that process. They were already present on their own.
BTW, I'm having no problems with 3.6.18 but after learning about the existence of version 5.0.1, I'm a bit too eager to lay my hands over it.
Thanks for your help; hope this wasn't extremely long.

  • Member Access Profile - update from table MemberAccess

    Hello,
We need to do an update in all our member access profiles. As we have 710 profiles, it's very time consuming to update each of them seperately.
I was looking into the table MemberAccess profile to update the profiles. I manage to update all profiles with one query but unfortunately it seems that we still need to go into SAP BPC Admin to process each profile. If I don't process in SAP BPC Admin, I get the error in Excel: 'There is a problem in dimension file: Entity' and the current view in Entity dimension just shows ...more... instead of the correct security!
Is there another way of updating the MemberAccess profiles in 1 go, without needing to process it individually? This would save us a lot of time!
    Thanks,
    Sofie Luyten

    Sofie,
Are you assuming it didn't work because of the "Return Value = 0" result? That stored procedure isn't designed to return anything so whether it ran properly or not you wouldn't get much back (except an error message is something went very wrong).
The only way that you can know if it worked is to look at the acsEntity table and make sure it has all of the proper records. I guess you can also start up SQL Profiler before executing the stored procedure to see what the stored procedure runs and make sure that's what you want. I'm not sure how familiar you are with SQL though so that may not be helpful for you.
