Message attachments not restoring on new device

I just upgraded to an iPhone 6 from an iPhone 5, and everything was updated and restored as expected, except for any photos or attachments in my text messages/iMessages that aren't photos saved in my albums. I've tried backing up my iPhone 5 multiple times to try restoring to the iPhone 6, but I get the same results.
Every other upgrade I've done, the message attachments transfer without a problem.

I had checked that setting before, and it was set to "Forever". Anyway, the problem was occurring on text messaged images that I had received the same day I had backed up and restored, so I don't think it's quite related to that setting.
For now, I've moved on and I can do without retrieving all the messaged images and attachments I've received. Simply for the fact that I've already accumulated more and I want to actually use my phone and not waste more hours time troubleshooting. But, this topic can should stay active if it can help anyone else experiencing this problem.

Go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings.  This will return it to its new out of the box condition.  Go through the setup screens again and you will be given the option to restore from a previous iTunes or iCloud backup (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109).

There isn't a phone number for iTunes Support.
If you've forgotten your answers to your security questions then you can get them reset : If you forgot the answers to your Apple ID security questions
If you have a credit card on your account then its details have to complete - and asking for their details is also a way of checking that you have a valid billing address in that country. As long as you are buying content for yourself and not trying to gift content (you can't use your balance for gifting) then the purchase price (plus any applicable taxes) should be deducted from your balance. If it's not then you contact iTunes Support :  http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

It sounds like your PC or Mac's internal HD is full. You need to delete some data or move it to an external hard drive or storage device of some sort before you'll be able to successfully complete the restore.

  • All text messages will not transfer to new iPhone 5s

Hi everyone, hoping someone out there can help...
I recently purchased a new iPhone 5s, transferred (everything, so i thought) from my old iPhone 4. The switch was made by Verizon but i have now noticed that not all of text messages transferred (they stop sometime in 2012). I am one that will refer back to old messages for reference, so it is impotant to me to have them. I have tried again and again syncing through iTunes without success. Any suggestions on how to recover these text messages?
    Thank you in advance!

The best way to do this is through icloud. Enable icloud on old phone and manually back up. Reset new phone to factory settings and on welcome walk through choose "restore from iCould backup" this puts your voicemails, texts, contacts, apps, settings, etc. on to your new device.

  • Why my contacts are not in my new device with icloud?

i changed iphone 4s for 5c, i backed up all my contacts in icloud but now in my new device i cant see them, so i dont know what im doing wrong or if i missing something.

Did you backup your 4s to iCloud and also sync your contacts to iCloud? If you synced them, you can use an internet browser and log in to https://www.icloud.com and see them there. Doing that would help you confirm whether they are in iCloud from a sync. If they are then go on your 5c to Settings > iCloud and confirm that the account is the same and that Conacts is on (green). That should bring them to the phone if you are connected to wi-fi. If not connected to wi-fi you may need to go to Settings > Cellular > Use Cellular Data For and turn Contacts on there as well.
If they aren't at https://www.icloud.com then that would indicate that they weren't synced there but that doesn't mean they weren't backed up to iCloud. There isn't a way to view the contents of an iCloud backup but if they were backed up, then they should come to the phone as part of a restore. Your post doesn't indicate whether you did a restore as part of setting up your new phone.

    Thanks, budone, for your reply.
    Good afternoon busymomi,
Does your phone still say "searching for service?" If you are still experiencing this difficulty I would recommend you remove the battery for about 30 second, then reinsert the battery and turn on your device. If the issue still persist please make the device is set to NAM 1 by following these steps:
    Menu
    Settings and Tools
    Phone Settings
    NAM Select
If NAM 1 is not selected please select NAM 1.
Also make sure System Select is set to Automatic.
    Menu
    Settings and Tools
    Phone Settings
    System Select
    Automatic
I'm sure these steps will resolve your issue. Thanks for being part of Verizon Wireless!

  • IPad 2 WiFi / 3G GSM cellular failure on iOS restore to "new device"

I have restored an iPad 2 GSM to "new device" on iOS 8. Still, GSM connectivity fails after a while. Resetting the network settings helps - but not for long.
I think this must be a (serious) bug for iPad 2 GSM owners - not just me - because several iPad 2 GSM owners seem to report the same error to forums all over the place.
Do anybody have a more stable fix than resetting the network settings continuously? Thanks!
    A.

    Hi,
    SOLUCE
    1- Restart iPad
    2- Go to "settings"
    3- "Operator"
4- Desactivate "automator" ans check manually your operator.... and that's all    :-)
    Bye and good night

  • Mail with iCloud: using PUSH on all MAc and IOS devices, mail messages do not arrive in all devices automatically. Same settings on all devices.

Incoming messages comes into INBOX folder only in 1 IOS ( iPhone ) device and not in other  devices  ( iPad and iMac ).
Clicking on mail folder, messages are downloaded as in manual mode.
Why messages are not pushed at same time in all devices ( mac + IOS devices ) ?
Thanks for support me, hoping to be of help to who will have this problem worldwide.

While trying to find a solution, I am discovering my mail problem is much deeper than just messages not appearing in the "Sent" mailbox.  I have found some of them appearing in the "Trash" mailbox and some appearing there mulitple times, often with my account name in the "TO" field.  I'm also finding some unread mail there that should be in the "Junk" mailbox.  So it would appear there are many problems with ISO 7 and mail.  I have tried deleting and restablishing the account and two complete iPhone restores.  Neither helped. What is the biggest puzzle is that on my second iPhone, the one that upgraded without an error, mail is working perfectly well.  Has anyone found a solution to any mail problems on ISO 7 devices?  If so, please reply.

  • Restoring as new device; does it download new software?

I've been having various problems even after restoring from backup multiple times. At the Apple store, I was told to restore and select "setup new device" instead of restoring from backup, incase my backup was corrupted. The rep told me that iTunes would download fresh copies of the operating software, firmware and all apps. Is this true? At no point during the process did iTunes appear to be downloading anything. I want to make sure I did the most thorough restore possible. Thanks!!

Thanks for the feedback. Is there anyway to know that the originally downloaded firmware 2.2 is NOT corrupted? Is there a way to manually download a fresh copy of it from Apple? I did, however, manually download all new versions of all of my apps, which I think helped somewhat.
