Message Class for Validaton

Hello,
How do I set up a message class for Validation? When I am selecting Proj Defn and clicking on Validation, I see the message id field greyed out.The message id is auto populated as /SAPDMC/LSMW_AUX_030 and I am unable to change it.
Also when I go to WBS level this message class in not populated.However in drop down I dont see the option of "Z" messgae class which I have defined with customised message.
Please let me know your thoughts on how we change message class and why "Z" message class is not seen n dropdown?

Hi,
When you click on Validation, System will pop up a window which will say Configure Message ID. In that window Click on Create Icon. It will goto SE91. Enter the Name of message class(Ex: ZPROJECT) and click on create. It will goto "Message maintenance: Change Message class" screen. There Click on SAVE button. System will ask you a Package, ask your abaper, he will tell u the package.
By using this message class you can create the Validation.

Can't help you with this one, I can just confirm the behaviour. However, this question is far from BPM and Workflow. Perhaps you should ask the same question in one of the ABAP Development forums (and add a pointer to it from here and close this question).
It's not easy to tell which forum is most appropriate. Perhaps the "Enhancements and Modifications" forum could be said to be appropriate, as the validations and substitutions can be said to be a sort of enhancement technique. I am sure someone there will disagree, but that's the only candidate I see besides "ABAP, General".

Hi,
Goto SE91
Enter Message Class name.
Select Attributes Radiobutton
Click Change button
One popup window will come for original or logon language.
click on your choice.
change the text and save.
And for Changing or adding new messages in it Select messages tab.
do the above process again

Go SWo1, do F4 help on the Object type field. Click "Infomation System". In the "Short Description" field, enter Sales and clic green check. Of course you will see the buiness object for Sales Order in the list. This is just one way of trying to find business objects.

Message Classes for Leave Request

Hi,
I've checked every message class I can think of but can't find the warning message:
"Absence cannot be partial-day, so clock times have been removed."
which is displayed in Leave Request.
Does anyone know which class it is in so I can stop it being displayed?
Is it within the WebDynpro?

You mentioned about configuring messages in Leave Request. How do you change the text of a standard SAP message? I would like to change the text of the message 015 Payroll Area &1 locked that is displayed in the portal, without using BADI.
As I read through the blogs this seemed to be the closest message to my particular question.

Message Classes for RFx

Hi experts,
I am trying to solve an issue regarding error messages in RFx. I need to find out which class(es) is(are) related to RFx (Obj. Type BUS2200). I was already able to identify BBP_PD, but this doesn't contain all messages.
Can anyone help me with this?

Hi,
There is message class BBP_BID.
If you know the message number, you can search it from T100 table.
if you know the error document, you can find it in the BBP_PD transaction. Select the Check Again link.

Setting Message Class via Content-Type for Faxes

Hello,
I am trying to set the message class for inbound email messages (with a fax attachment) from the internet. The class that I am trying to set is IPM.Note.Microsoft.Fax.CA. Exchange 2013 SP1 is being used.
I have a transport rule set up which evaluates criteria on the incoming message, and then sets the Content-Class header to fax-ca. Unfortunately, even though the content-class header is being set (I can see this is the headers when the message gets
to Outlook), the message class is not changing and the message still has the IPM.Note class.
On the other hand, if the transport rule is modified to set the Content-Class to voice-ca, the message class changes to IPM.Note.Microsoft.Voicemail.UM.CA.
So it seems that it works for voice-ca, but not fax-ca. Is there an Exchange setting that I have missed? Is there a reason why this wouldn't work for fax?

Change the Message class (OB28) for validations

Hi Experts,
I was trying to change the Message class (OB28) for validations which are created last 1 year ago, as we have two Validations where each validation has 15 to 16 steps in it. One validation starts with Y & another with Z. Both are using the same message class as of now.
But we want to use different message class for validation which starts from Z. We tried changing from program RGUGBR28 but it will change the message class for the both validation which starts from Y & Z, we need to change to only one validation.
Please let me know any way out for this.

Hi Shilpa,
The message class during the maintenance of a validation, it is not changeable because the message class is not attached at the individual validation but at the entire validation class, that is a combination of application and call time.
During the first creation of a validation at the moment of "document line item" in application "cost accounting" the message class is asked for and these then for the entire validation class, stored in this case "001" in the table GB02C and from now is no more changeable.
The reason for that is, that a change affects all validation of a grade just globally and that even cross-client, since the GB02C is not client-specific.

Selecting and moving many messages not working - try sorting by message classes

I posted this a while back, and have an update now.
I file my sent items. Call me crazy, but I like to at the end of every quarter, move sent items from that quarter into sub folders. It's usually 2-4000 items, and ever since I installed OL2010, I have had weird issues when trying to clean my Sent items.
Example: Select 2000 items, sorted by date from Sent Items. Drag and drop to my 2009Q4 folder. It then prompts me "Creating a new item from the selected items could take some time. Are you sure you want to create a new item from these 2000 items?"
So I figured possible Ctrl is stuck down or something, so I right click, Move, select the folder. Same issue.
I start selecting smaller data sets. I got to about 50-60 items at a time that I was able to move and not get that message. I got frustrated and stopped working on it.
This morning, I decided to re-test this. Same issue presents itself. So instead, I sorted by message class. I was able to select 3800 message items. The remaining items were messages with attachments, text/mobile messages, and calendar invite responses.
It appears that some combination of selecting multiple message classes was triggering my issue. I suspect the newest of them, the mobile messages to be the issue, so I deleted them, and retried, nope, same error, even selecting only the show message class types. Would like to see this fixed, of course, and will be sending a frown with the link to this thread as well.

I had this problem too. For me, simply sorting by message class, then finding all the calendar items and moving them first, then going back and doing the rest, allowed me to move them as I liked.   However, its not clear to me that I have
all message classes (not sure what they all are), so it could be there are other message classes that cause problems when you move "mixed classes".   I do think this is an MS Outlook bug, but not clear anyone has reported it to MS. ;-<
You can prove this by simply selecting a calendar item and a msg, and try moving the two. You will have this issue.
However, you'd think that MS itself would be a vast user of MS Outlook and if we're discovering this, you'd think MS internal folks are too, so I'm deferring to them to self-resolve.   Until then, I'll just use this workaround.
Definition of "Message classes" for others reading this... You may have already inferred, but two examples of "classes" are a normal email (.msg) and a calendar item. You can sort these by clicking on the "icon" field at the top of your email
folder, just to the right of the "bell" (Reminders).   Not sure how to put a .JPG in this posting, since a picture would explain this much better than I can using words.

Pass a varaible (Place holder) in the Long text of message class

My requirement is to display an error messages using message class for better understanding I am using Long text will it possible to pass a variable (place holder) in the long text if possible means suggest how to pass the variable (we need to put any &1 like this similar we do in message class) or only we can display only text in long text.

MESSAGE e001 WITH wa_matnr.
Here wa_matnr is the input field value.Display this message under appropriate events.
eg: AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON wa_matnr in case of reports.

Transport of Message Class

Hi,
I have added a set of messages to a message class for different kinds of developments. So the messages are under different transport requests. I want to move the transports up in the landscape. Does the sequence of transports for the message class matter because I cannot move all the transports up in the landscape at this moment.

Hi Alam. To answer your question...... maybe. And the reason I say this is, it would be a problem if you had created the message class and put it on the one transport, then put other messages on other transports. Of course this would cause a problem. But if the message class was pre-existing and the transport only have messages tied to them, then there is absolutly no problem with sending them out of sequence, the skipped messages will simply be blank in the message class in the target system.

Transport request and Message class?

How to create a transport request for the changes I made in a content of the table (eg: T100 ) so that the changes can reflect in all clients. and please mention the name of message class for the object BUS2121 or else name the message class for the messages that has been used in shopping cart email templates.

The message for SC is BBP_PD, you will find in SE91 txn. and you would need to know the message number to customize it, you can do it in SPRO-Cross-application settings-> Message control, and then select BUS2121 and add new entry to change it from standard.
