Message to Apple France: I'm still waiting a new power adapt

Je suis très déçu par votre nonchalence:
Aprés 4 semaine d'utilisation de mon Powerbook G4 tout neuf, mon adaptateur a grillé le 18/08/05 (malgré mon para-surtenseur et mon respect dela notice). Je l'ai aussitôt renvoyé à mon revendeur (Playback-93400 St Ouen-France) et J'ATTENDS DEPUIS UN MOIS son remplacement. Je suis furieux car:
-Si une pièce défectueuse est une erreur excusable, votre absence de réaction ne l'est pas.
-J'espérai un service aprés-vente compétent de la part d'Apple qui se vente de fabriquer du matériel informatique haut de gamme.
-A 2000 Euros, je pensai pouvoir utiliser mon powerbook plus de 4 semaines sans problêmes!
-J'avais déjà attendu plus d'un mois la livraison de mon powerbook commandé le 16/06/05 et livré le 28/07/05.
-Je n'ai trouvé auncun autre moyen que ce forum en anglais pour vous contacter et dire ce que je pense. J'espere que ce message sera transmi et qu'il servira à quelquechose, mais j'en doute au vu de ce qui précède.

Je n'ai plus confiance en vous car la légende entourant la fiabilité et le serieux d'Apple est un mensonge.

  • New power adapter and battery, still not working?!

    A couple days ago, my macbook stopped charging. The power adapter was plugged in, but there was no indication that it recognized it or was charging, so I figured it was a broken power adapter. I bought a new one, plugged it in, everything was fine - until the next day. The new power adapter stopped working as well. So, I go to the genius bar, and they tell me it's my battery. I buy a new battery and plug in the new charger. Everything's working again, until I unplug the power adapter to move my laptop into another room - and now it's not charging again! I tried every power outlet, and something is definitely wrong with the macbook itself. I'm pretty frustrated since I've now spent $200 on new stuff and the problem still isn't resolved.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    It seems that all the nokia users in the world with the largest selling nokia brands have been backstabbed once again (STILL NO FIRMWARE FIX).
    To make it clear to everyone one of nokias largest selling mobiles the 6230i has yet to be added to the NSU list .
    I presently have a 6230i with one of the earliest firmwares V 03.40 this firmware is so full of bugs it is un-believable.
    I have already invested hundreds of pounds in this device just to be told that i am going to have to pay for a firmware update just to fix someone elses problems namely Nokia's.
    why should i pay when everybody else is getting thier updates from the NSU for free and my phone is also capable of updating in the same manner but the NSU have no release.
    Can the NSU post the last known stable firmware atleast Until there is a more stable firmware release.
    Because i am not going to pay £20 or more every time there is a software/firmware update as these are nokias problems we are paying for remember not our own.
    I WANT MY FIRMWARE..............

    It's so pity! Nokia 6230i's the most perfect phone I've ever seen. Small candy-bar size, Square-High resolution display (easy to make wallpapers than Potrait), Theme supported, large Internal mery (when Nokia s40 3rd Edition only have 10 MB)... Unfortunately, it seems there's no 6230i's upgraded version (except 8800 series, but not worth to pay $1000). Also, its filmware still has many bugs (right what you said: Unbelieveable!). For your question, the lastest Nokia 6230i filmware is v3.88 (check filmware version here http://hunajatehdas.net/nokia/firmware/index_en.php?model=6230i). Now I'm no longer used 6230i, but if NSU supports this model, maybe it will be like 6233: NO UPDATE AVAILABLE when you believed it's existed! Crash!

  • Mini Ipod Stuck waiting for a Power adapter, which i never got.

    I reset my MINI IPOD using the latest version of itunes, and at the end it asked me to plug the IPOD into the mains adapter. I never got a mains adapter with it. I have waited 3 days for the battery to run down and it hasnt. I have tried using the hold menu and Centre button, then the centre button and rewind when the apple logo appears. all i get it the picture asking for a mains adapter, which i dont have.
    Is there another way? Or do i have to wait until the battery dies? or should i charge it on the USB for a couple of days?

    When updating or restoring some iPods via a usb connection, it needs to be plugged into power via the charger to complete the process, and this is why you see that icon displayed. It's also why older iPods that required this step were supplied with a power adaptor as standard.
    You may be able to complete the process via a car charger, or via a powered firewire port on the computer (with the required 6 pin cable of course) if you have access to either of those. Or maybe visit an Apple store if one is nearby.

  • Forbidden Screen - Error: "Still waiting for root device"

    Greetings to all! I come to you with my boot troubles as a supplicant, in the hope that someone can help.
    I have a PowerBook G4 15-inch, pre-Intel from late 2005. Until today it always worked and rarely hanged. All I've ever needed to do when in trouble was reboot. I've updated the Apple OSX software regularly and have never touched the hardware, except once 18 months ago to add memory. All I do with this machine is use it. It's been weeks since I installed any new software.
    There were no warning signs before the problem started today.
    FIRST SIGN OF TROUBLE: The machine was unusually slow, showing beach balls on every minor move. I powered down conventionally and later turned it on again. After a minute I got the "Forbidden Sign" grey screen, which I had never seen before. So I rebooted, and got that again.
    +I turned to the only other available machine (very old PC, unfortunately) to browse for solutions, and have so far tried the following:+
    1) BOOT FROM INSTALLATION DISK: Forbidden Screen. After a couple of attempts I removed the disk (by clicking trackpad on power up). At some point, in desperation, I even tried Disc 2.
    2) RESET PRAM (Command-Option-P-R on power up) : I got three chimes, then the grey screen. It stayed on the apple and gear for many minutes. At least it never went to the Forbidden Screen.
    3) FILE SYSTEM CHECK (Option-S on power up) : After a few steps it shows error messages (see below) and starts repeating, "Still waiting for root device," over and over.
    4) RESET NVRAM (Command-Option-O-F on power up) : I got a blue screen with text and was able to input "reset-nvram" (response: OK) and then "boot." Result: Forbidden Screen.
    5) SAFE START (Option on power up) : Forget it. Forbidden Screen. Same when I try it with "C" as some sites recommend. Same with or without the Install Disk in the DVD driver.
    6) POWER MANAGEMENT UNIT RESET (Shift-Control-Option-Power): Subsequent boot still produces Forbidden Screen.
    *THE ERROR MESSAGES*
    Here are some of the messages when I start up with Option-S:
    CSRHIDTransitionDriver::probe booting in single user .. do not match
    Extension "com.apple.driver.AppleUSBTCKeyboard" has no kernel dependency.
    Extension "com.apple.driver.AppleUSBTCKeyEventDriver" has no kernel dependency.
    Apple PMU::CLOCK RESET! PMU WAS PROBABLY RESET SOMEHOW!! +(Yes, I did that, but it wasn't showing this before I did, and it WAS showing all of the following.)+
    Security auditing service present
    BSM auditing present
    disabled
    rooting via boot-uuid from /chosen: +(I think the long code that follows is the serial number?)+
    Waiting on <dict ID="o"><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID="1">IOResources</string><key>IOResourceMatch</key><string ID="2">boot-uuid-media</string></dict>
    PMUMS::start ERROR: failed to find IOATABlockStorageDriver
    Still waiting for root device
    Still waiting for root device
    Still waiting for root device
    +(etc. ad infinitum)+
    *So now I'm begging anyone for answers to these questions:*
    Am I doomed?
    Does anyone know what the problem is?
    This seems to be happening prior to disk access, as it happens with or without the Install Disk. So do I still have the hard drive working? Is my data on it?!
    Was resetting the Power Management Unit a bad idea?
    What can I do next?

    In the meantime I have succeeded in booting via the Install Disc using Option on power up. The Hardware test shows nada wrong. Disk Util repair goes up to "Rebuilding Category B-Tree" and then fails. Frustratingly, the HD is somehow visible, because the diagnostics correctly identify it and give correct values for empty space. Right now I'm running the Erase Free Space option and it's working - how is that possible? I've gotten into Single User mode and tried various FSCK commands. Sometimes it comes back with the superblock error and "Bad Magic Number" which I believe indicates a corrupted block within the boot sector. I can't figure out how to reassign without reformatting and losing the data. This will cost me a few weeks of data, but really not that much work - still set me back by days.
    Next step will be to start taking it apart, as you suggest, starting with the easy matter of trying with just one DIMM or switching the DIMMs.
    Thanks again, and if anyone knows how to help - how does one reassign a superblock from the Single User mode?

    Hello, I'm new to this FYI. I recently (tonight) submitted my app using the application uploader. It seemed to go through just fine, but after it was done I was hit with a bunch of error messages from the application uploader. However, I nevertheless recieved a confirmation from Apple saying my app was waiting for review...so does this confirmation mean that the upload was actually successfull? Or do I need to delete the binary and re-submit?

    Status is also "waiting for review" along with a yellow circle. the binary details all look ok including the .zip file i uploaded. now that i think about it, maybe the error messages were in response to my second upload. because i thought the first one failed, but now I see the .zip is the proper name.

    Thanks for the pointers folks. Yeah, 1.5GB is pretty poor isn't it? There are other suppliers, but you have to get a their phone line installed to access the internet so it's an £85 setup fee plus a day off work for a guy to come round and drill a hole in your wall before you even get to the monthly costs.
    Don't get me wrong though - I'm certainly not an Apple basher, but am equally frustrated with both them and the ISP.
    Virgin Media spend all kinds of money advertising their broadband as the fastest in the UK, but don't tell you (up front anyway) that you'll be cut off if you actually try and use it.
    Apple on the other hand carry on with their 'it just works' mantra, but with Apple TV this only applies if you meet certain criteria (again, not mentioned up front).
    I guess it aint a biggie, as i was gifted my Apple TV, and love all the other stuff it does, but from the number of posts on this forum can see that there's a lot of angry customers out there who want explanations as to why they're having similar problems to me.
    Will be very interesting to see if Apple release any kind of software update that turns the flash drive from a buffer to permanent storage, to at least ease some of the pain...

    "&" is not the obvious bug/answer. Not sure what went wrong as I cannot select albums and events for sync. Situation is worse for iPad and Apple TV when error 1140 message popped up even before backup get completed.

    Download and install the iPhoto 9.4.1 update, which was just released today. It may be the answer to your problems:

    Be sure that neither iTunes nor iPhoto is running when you install the iPhoto 9.4.1 update. After installing the update, then restart iTunes and iPhoto. By default, "All photos" is selected. Change this (it's no longer grayed out) to "Selected albums..." and you should be OK.

If I click "ignore" the program will finish downloading but will not launch due to "not being installed correctly".     Hey I finally got an older vesion of itunes to work!!! 10.7  x64 for windows 7
    After uninstalling all apple products even  quicktime
    I had to delete everything from (program files, and program  files x64, program data,)
    And all downloads from apple, and I went in to search deleted  other stuff from apple, and itunes
    But definently not my itunes library and Playlist
    Down loaded 10.7 x64 for windows 7, but checked (do not start  when done)
    Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my  PC
    I ran geek tech tool box same as reg cure pro, also PC Tools  registry cleaner, and CC Cleaner

    And wallah... It finally works, and I Love the older version  anyways.
    Easier to download and transfer  music!!!!!
