Metadata field for "file type"?

I'm trying to find a way to sort images in A3's List view, and I can't seem to find a way to use the "File Type." I know I can filter images, but that's not what I want to do. I'd like to be able to have file type as a column so I can sort and have, say, RAWs at the top, followed by JPEG, etc. I've looked through all the fields and, so far, can't find anything that allows this without using a filter.
Tanks in advance

Use File Size, the files can then be listed with the jpeg or raw at the top or bottom of the list as you prefer using Ascending or Descending sort option. This should work due to the difference in file size between jpeg and raw, Allan

    Hi there,
I'm wondering, is there a simple way of not displaying the file name field and file type drop down choice that anyone knows of?
Reason being; my FileChooser is embedded in an application window and does not pop up as a dialog - the users are only acessing one file type, but it could be in any folder on their machine.
    many thanks,

    Hi,
You have defined the resource type as 2 ( single activity resource)  which is PPDS relevant but in the Planning parameters tab of the APO resource you have defined it as SNP relevant.( Not ticked the Not SNP relevant)
Request you to make tick in the Not SNP relevant  field and then try Ciffing.
Since SYSFAIL has happend request you to clear the failed Queues and then CIF it.

  • Changing The Preview Image for File Types

Is there any way for me to change the image that shows up as the preview for file types? For example, I use OpenOffice and all my .doc files show up as blank pages of paper, which I don't like. I've tried to change this to no avail, from using the "Get Info" window to within the program itself. Any help?

If you have an image that you want to use, do a Get Info on it, select the image at the top of the box and then copy from the Edit menu. Then on your OpenOffice document do a Get Info and paste the image into the little image icon at the top of the Get Info box.

  • How to Get MetaData to Show File Type?

In particular, I want to differentiate images stored as NEF, TIFF or Jpeg.
How do I use the MetaData Customization panel to indicate these?

You might use color labels and assign them on import (assuming you import by file type).
The color labels are the most obvious indication in the Browser (and, less so, in the Viewer) of _something_.  They are easy to see and easy to apply or change.  What you map to the color labels is up to you.  It should be something of top-most importance -- something you need to be able to tell at a glance.  (Logically, you have to deal with having eight labels, and being restricted to assigning one and only one label per Image.)
I use color labels to indicate the current status of each Image's development.  For you, the file type of the Image's Original might be more important.  For me, just to give an example:
    Color                    Kirbature Label
    Red                    Develop!           ✬
    Orange              Developing (not completed)           ✣
Yellow               Bracketed by Exposure Set/Replaced by Externally Edited        ❊
    Green                Developed           ✯
Blue                   Version for Sale.  Final!           ✼
    Purple               Detail of Developed          ❃

  • What is the best metadata field for picture TITLE?

Hi -- as stated: what is the best metadata field to use to hold the title of a picture?
I've been using the IPTC field "Title", but:
    - I think this is actually used for a person's job title, not the title of a picture, and
    - I can't get it to show up in BorderFX (though it does show in Images exported and viewed in Preview)
"Caption" and "Headline" seem to be obvious choices.  I'm looking for something is widely used, so that the titles I give my pictures will stay with them and be available to other programs and users after I export the Images from Aperture.
    Thanks for you advice!
    Kirby.

Correcting myself. After reading the User Guide it appears that the title does go in the Title field, imagine that.
    IPTC Core Status section
    Title
This field can be used as a shorthand reference for the image or “photograph” — primarily for identification. The title of an image should be a short, human-readable name — text and/or numeric reference —and may take several forms; for photographers this might be the filename of their original scan or digital camera file, for news organizations it might be the name of the story for which it’s to be used. (Note that there are new terms in the IPTC Extension which can also be used as image ID’s, if you are concerned about this field being overwritten later in the workflow). The Title term should not be confused with the Headline term, which is a short synopsis of the content of the photograph. There is a button in the panel which can be used to add the current file name to the Title field; however this will not work with a selection of images.
    IPTC Core Content section
    Headline
A headline is a brief publishable synopsis or summary of the contents of the photograph. Like a news story, the Headline should grab attention, and telegraph the content of the image to the audience. Headlines need to be succinct. Leave the supporting narrative for the Description field. Do not, however, confuse the Headline term with the Title term.

  • Try to export address book but the drop down for file type is blank. no options are offered. Version 24.5.

An unusual problem happened when I upgraded from earlier version of thunderbird - which was working fine - version 9. I decided to update. So update to latest version. Once I did this something happened:
    1. When I go to address book, I select address book and then select Export.
    2. The export window pops up, but the field where you select FILE TYPE is blank - there is no CSV, TXT etc. options to select.
So... I saved a copy of my profile as a back up.
    Then I uninstalled that version.
Then installed the version my husband is using - 24.5 - which he uses with no problems at all.
After installing the 24.5 version I still have the same problem. We are completely stumped and don't know what is causing this.
Something must have happened when I upgraded from the very early version 9 to the 31.
Its like its not seeing the FILE TYPE to display when I go to export.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank You
    Daphna

Restart Thunderbird with add ons disabled. You might have one that does not like the newer versions. You can do this from the Help menu.

  • Changing default open with for file type for all users

    hello
can I change the default app to open a specific file type for all users and not juist for my user?
i am admin for my mac mini.
    tnx
    gil

What applications are offered for open with depends on the application itself informing the system it can open certain files, plus your own custom selections for opening files. Evidently the alternate app you want to use does not claim to be able to open the files you are assigning it. If you have a plist editor and know how to use it you could edit the info.plist file inside the application itself to add the file type you want to the application's declaration of file types it will open. Then restart so the system will read that declaration. I think it would be far easier to simply launch the application and then drop a file you want it to open onto its icon in the Dock.

  • Server side validation for file type with cffil sent via cfmail problem

    Hello;
I have a small app that I need to allow users to be able to use a form, and send me and email with a file attachment. I have it working nicely, I included file manipulation into the validation process of the form and required form fields. The problem I'm having, is this. I'm trying to create and instance where if they try and upload lets say a pdf, it throws and error: "You are trying to upload the wrong file, please try again we only accept bla bla bla" Problem is, even if I'm uploading the proper file, it's rejecting it and deleting it. Can someone help me fix this? I've tried a number of different ways and can't seem to get this to go off properly. I am posting some of the code. There is a ton, so I'm posting the main parts so you get the idea and see my variables.
