Microsoft Office & Choppiness experienced.
Hello everybody.
I just installed Leopard yesterday. I am currently running 2gb of ram (i think that would suffice). However, when I am running Microsoft Excel, the whole computer starts acting funny. Everything from the mouse, to the keyboard goes really choppy. Even my spreadsheets on excel, they are all set differently than when I had them on Tiger, I mean since I installed Leopard, the page size only contains 20 by 20 (rows vs. columns). Prior to that it was more like a A4 set up page. Everything else seems fine it's just Excel that is acting up. Has anybody else experienced this, and if so what did you do?
If I understand your question correctly from the text in the title of your post, you are unable to install Office 2010 in your Windows 10 Technical Preview environment. As BurrWalnut has mentioned, Office 2010 appears to install and function without issues
for most users. One scenario that could explain your issue is if a previous environment was upgraded to Windows 10 Technical Preview and some component from the previous environment is conflicting with your installation. I would suggest completely uninstalling
Office 2010 to remove any existing components from the system and then reinstalling.

We're experiencing a growing problem with our users in several different domains running in to Microsoft Office 2013 x32 'activation' issues. We use KMS for licensing, which works properly, but some of the machines (~20-30 out of 1000+) sporadically
throw the following error:
'Microsoft Office can't find your license for this application. Microsoft Office will now exit.'
We know it's not an issue with the licenses per se, since they work on and off and we can force KMS activation correctly / talk to the KMS servers.
It appears to be an issue with the Software Protection service not starting properly. In Event Viewer, we see the following:
'Software protection service failed to start due to the following error- the service did not respond in a timely fashion.
Event 7000'
This is occurring on a variety of machines in a variety of environments, all fully patched with the latest Office updates. It's inconsistent, and the 'manually restart the Software Protection Service' solution is not viable as it's occurring on many
different workstations. Office repairs have also been unsuccessful.
Has anyone else come across this? Or have any idea why the Software Protection Service might be sporadically failing? Maybe an Office update in the last 2-3 months?

We have a document-level customization solution for Word and are experiencing problems during deployment in an environment running on terminal services. The OS (Windows 2012) is English and Word (2013) is non-English (German).
Installation is done into the "Program Files" folder correctly. But when trying to start a word document linked to the specific template. The "Microsoft Office Customization Installer" pops up with the error.
"There was an error during installation"
From: file:///C:/Programme/[CompanyName]/[Productname]/[Productname].vsto
Downloading file:///c:/Programme/[CompanyName]/[Productname]/[Productname].vsto did not succeed.
Exception: ....
System.Deployment.Application.DeploymentDonwloadException: Download file:///C:/Programme/[Companyname]/Productname]/[Productname].vsto did not suceed. ---> System.Net.WebException: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Programme\[Companyname]\[Productname]\[Productname].vsto'.
---> System.Net.WebException: ...... ---> System.IO.DirectoyNotFoundException......
The problem seems to be that the installer is looking for C:\PROGRAMME instead of C:\PROGRAM FILES. C:\PROGAMME is the German localized name of PROGRAM FILES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Program_Files).
The installer installs the solution correctly deployed into c:\program files, but when the later a user tries to start it and the Microsoft Office Customization Installer is called, it tries to access the non-existing "c:\programme" folder. This
doesn't exist, because Windows is English.
Is there any thing related to deploying solutions on a platform which has different languages (mixing/matching of OS language and Office language?)
Thank you for your helpHello,
1. First, I would confirm with you whether you dealt with the localization for your document-level add-in?
2. Did you use this way to define the Create a class that defines the post-deployment action part of Put the document of a solution
onto the end user's computer (document-level customizations only) and did you get the path with Environment.SpecialFolder enum?
To handle this, I would recommend you consider using Environment.SpecialFolder to set that property.
Regards,
Carl

Good day to everyone:
We are experiencing an issue during the installation of a software for one of our clients. The software is EVSpc 5.0 builded in 32 bits version and provided by the MassHealth department for insurance verifications purposes.
The operative system in most machines is Windows 7 Professional 64 bits (which has C:\Program Files AND C:\Program Files (x86)), the Microsoft Office is 2010 SP1 32 bits. All office applications work perfectly in the system.
We run the installation of the software as the local Administrator (just as the installation instructions manual refers) and the installation it is completed. Then according the manual we have to refer the ODBC data sources to select the Microsoft Access
Driver (*.mdb) and the route of the database file (Access file) in the server. Finally we run the registration file to perform modifications in the registry. This is the registry file instruccions:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.0
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\EVS]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\EVS\EVS]
"EquipmentID"="PCX33333"
"InstallPath"="C:\\Program Files \\EVSpc50\\"
When we tried to use the software this error message pops up:
"ActiveX component can't create object Exception in callAIMLoginService Error Handle Error Number=429 Error on LastDllError=0 Error HelpContext=1000429"
We have tried different suggestions found on Internet. Repairing the Office suite, Change the permission for the regedit file, register manually the dao360.dll, etc
We called the IT depaartment of MassHealth and the IT person in charge has left the job, and nobody knows why it isn't working.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. You will have to locate and contact the software engineering team that put this package together. It is impossible to tell you what the problem is without the software engineers' detailed knowledge of the program.

Outlook Calendar Sync Issue "Microsoft Office Outlook Offline Folders"
I am experiencing an issue synchronizing my Outlook Calendar with my iPhone. I am using the latest version of Itunes (7.6.2.9).
To reproduce:
1) Sync Outlook calendar with Iphone.
In Outlook, the following error displays:
"Microsoft Office Outlook Offline Folders"
"The file C:\Documents and Settings\<name>\Local Settings\Application Data\microsoft\outlook\outlook.ost is in use and could not be accessed. Close any application that is using the file, and then try again."
At this point, in order to view any mail or calendar entries, I am required to reboot my computer and relaunch Outlook. I had to disable synchronization with the iphone.
I followed the troubleshooting Calendars hints from the Support site, and I clicked "Reset Sync History." This seems to have temporarily fixed the problem, but I am not confident I won't receive the error again.
Is there a permanent fix for this? This may be more than a temporary fix, so I would wait and cross that bridge if and when the same error message turns up.

Microsoft Office / Outlook 2011, Lion Install, multiple mdworker32 crashes
After having experienced two successful installs at the office, on a MacBook Pro and iMac duoCore (both installing atop Snow Leopard), I decided to perform an install on my home iMac (Nov. 2009 i7 2.8GHz model). All went well until I rebooted and launched Outlook 2011 and Safari. I don't think my launching Safari had anything to do with it, but the error/crash dialogs started popping up on my screen, one after another, after I had launched Safari, which was shortly after I had launched Outlook.
The crash dialogs mentioned Outlook and mdworker32. Googling about this I found it pertained to Spotlight indexing. What I was unable to Google up was anyone else having the same problem after having installed Lion. I was also not able to find out why this is happening either.
The crash dialogs would appear about once every 20 seconds. During this whole time, I could see that Spotlight was indexing my iMac's internal 1TB HD. I verified the problem in Activity Monitor and the Console logs. The link between Spotlight and Outlook and mdworker32 was undeniable.
I Googled a bit more and then decided to follow someone's advice about removing the "Microsoft Office.mdimporter" file from:
iMac/Macintosh HD/Library/Spotlight
The errors continued. I Googled again. This time, I found that someone suggested removing the "Microsoft Outlook.mdimporter" from:
/Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Microsoft Outlook/Contents/Library/Spotlight
After pulling that file out and onto my Desktop, the error dialogs ceased. I have yet to put that file back inside the Outlook app, but I must say I am very disconcerted about having been forced to "hack the Outlook app" to get the errors to stop. And I am also aware that by having removed that file from the Outlook app, Spotlight will not index my emails. I'm not pleased about that.
Since no one appears to have this same problem, as evidenced by the fact I alone am reporting it (with regard to OS 10.7 Lion and Outlook), I therefore must ask if you feel this is a Lion issue or an Outlook compatibility bug with Lion?
Obviously, I did not have this problem under Snow Leopard, so Lion is indeed involved in, apparently, breaking the "Microsoft Outlook.mdimporter" plugin inside the Outlook app. Even so, why would I alone get this? For truly, I am not alone in running Outlook 2011 on an OS X Lion iMac i7. If this problem was widespread, I would expect others to have reported it before me. And yet, if one contends it is something exclusive to me, then I must ask "why"?
So far, I am not having any other problems with Lion. I would therefore appreciate hearing your thoughts and advice.
Thank you.
P.S. I see that someone here has reported something similar with mdworker32 and Office 2008, although that older discussion had nothing to do with OS X Lion:

After getting a new IMac, we migrated all our files and software over from our old mac. Unfortunately, we had the most recent version of microsoft office on there. I am experiencing problems now opening up word or excel files now as the computer seems to be trying to open up these files with the trial version that came with the computer (which has ended now), not the licensed version that is also on the computer. I have to first open up word, and then only can I click on the file to open up properly. How can I fix this problem? I need to get rid of the trial office software version. Thanks for any suggestions.
Open the MS Ofice Trial folder.
Run the Installer and select Uninstall -
Hello all,
So over the last couple of month for some reason my IMac, mid 2011 has been having problems with the software I use on a regular basis. Microsoft Office Mac 2011 has been acting up, only the word app is malfunctioning. If you were typing a paper it would automatically stop and the program itself would act like you are on a different window, so you would have to click on the page you were typing on to continue writing a paper. I had even noticed this in Safari where I would have to search for what ever topic I was looking for for a school paper and halfway through the typing in the URL box you would have to click on the page opened and retype everything into the URL box. I have gone through the disk utility and there seems to be a couple of problems with one program and many this not being what they are supposed to be I will continue this until I can get more ideas throughout the discussion. Office update 14.3.9 starts to download but three-quarters of the way it restarts and searches for the update again. This has happened at least the last 8 times, even after doing through disk utility. No I do not have a time capsule or anything, but I will be getting something towards the end of the week to back up my files and such. Does anyone have any ideas that could possibly help the malfunction of this. I love this mac and was surprise that this problem was encountered, kind of having to use my PC for some applications for my classes and would love to be able to use the mac again. Any suggestions or ideas, are greatly apprieciated.Alright since I have posted this and not hearing from anyone I went ahead and took it to the Apple store after buying a external sotrage for my time machine (pretty cool deal, I think). Only to find out that noting is wrong when they hooked it up and kept it for two days to see if anyhting else was wrong (saved some money everything was free). Funny thing is when I was explaining what I was experiencing everything worked fine at the store, it even downloaded the update for microsoft word 2011. Went onto the internet and nothing happened, even opened up word and typed for a while and nothing happened either unti I got home again and it all started again. I am still confused so since then I bought a new router thinking that was the problem. Nope. stilling doing it so I researched more and found out that it could be something in my user profile that is causing the issue and possiblity of my internet connection which is DSL, and everything was working fine prior to the issue at hand. So I set up another account on the mac and surfed the web, could not do word though becuase it is only in my wife and I's accounts. So I will have to try that out. But everything worked fine net document ans such. I have been trying to figure out what software could be posing the problem. I want to unistall but am afriad to do so I have reinstalled office for mac 2011 before I brought it into the Apple store, and have deleted some app games from the system and its still is doing the same thing. A coworker asked what types of keyboards and mouses. I am using to include my trackpad which is only turn on if the mouse battery dies on me. All my gear is bluetoothed based except for the external harddrive which is usb and a second monitor. I will have to do more researching, but if anyone has any ideas on what I can do more I would love to fix this issue soon.

Anybody ever get any events like this before? I'm not finding much or nothing on Google or on other forums, so I thought I would run it past and see if anyone has experienced anything of a similar
nature. And yes, the farm account obviously has creator/secadmin permissions, at this point of our deployment....
I look forward to any and all feedback. Thanks and good afternoon!I figured out the answer to this myself. For those few who might run into something akin to my error...
During the off-hours of where I work, I re-applied the farm account credentials to all dB server VM SQL services that had the account for a log-on (i.e., MSSQLSERVER, SQLSERVERAGENT, etc.) as well as all SharePoint services on our WFE/App Server VM (a two
server farm is what we host), in that order. Then I rebooted the dB server first, followed by the SharePoint server. Upon coming back, everything was working fine again. I was able to provision a site, no probelm, and it seemed to even be a little snappier
when doing so.
One note: doing this procedure gave me a "One or more services have started or stopped unexpectedly" error in the Health Analyzer, for the SPTimerV4 service. When you get this, simply enter into the item and click on "Reanalyze Now;" this will quickly clear
the error out of the Analyzer, and all should be right with the world! :) -

Microsoft Office Excel crashing and loosing work not saved or closed
I spent around two hours this afternoon importing 12 months of bank statements into Excel. Half way through a message box appeared saying Excel had stopped working and needed to close down, did I want to send a report. Also there was a check box if I wanted Excel to restart with the last details. I checked this and it worked fine. I even saved a couple of examples whilst I worked on it.
After two hours, feeling a bit jaded, I left the computer with Excel running and when I returned sometime later and logged back in Excel had closed down, not present, and when I fired it back up there was no evidence of the files I had saved in Finder. I looked in every conceivable place but no files. Open Recent didn't show the files either.
Time machine is set to backup every hour but there is an hour missing between two backups.
Has anyone else experienced this behaviour?OK, the file is in the My Templates folder and I need to access it through the USERS pathway. How do I find the USERS start to nsvigate my way through to My Templates in Microsoft Office?

IMac Freezing & Microsoft Office for Mac
I took my 7 day old iMac back to the store I purchased from. After two days of solid testing, the techs there were unable to make my machine freeze or crash. This is after I experienced either a freeze or completely black screen/reboot every 2 to 5 minutes.
I brought the machine back to my office, fired it up and you guessed it...it froze. Here's the thing...the only software open was Microsoft's Entourage.
Yeah, I know...seems to go against all things good to have to load Microsoft products on a Mac, but my clients all use Office.
I uninstalled Entourage and so far so good...no crashing or freezing or black screens or anything.
I'm keeping a log of the software I have open for the next few days just in case the freezing happens again. That way, I'll know exactly what I have open at the time of the failure.
So I'm wondering if anyone else with a freezing iMac has Office 2004 loaded and could this perhaps be the culprit?Hi Bee,
Thanks for the welcome. My original post about my iMac problems are over in the Freezing iMac thread. After talking with AppleCare, I decided to take my new machine back to the store I bought it. They are what I think called a boutique Mac store. Anyway, they have a 7 day return policy...get all your money back.
I was so frustrated with the freezing, crashing, black screens, I went in with the intent of returning it for a refund. This small neighborhood store has been averaging selling 3 iMacs a week for since these Alum ones were released. Mine is the only one they have heard of with these issues. They were mystified and were really curious about this problem.
Anyway, I uninstalled the trial software before installing my copy of Microsoft Office. So even though your suggestion is very thoughtful and helpful, it doesn't apply to my machine.
I'm going to continue to monitor and record what I'm doing, although if I have many more unproductive days due to this machine, I will simply have to return it. As I've posted before, I'm self-employed...no workey, no eatey.
I was just wondering since Office for Mac 2004 was written as universal and not specifically for Intel Macs, could they be the culprit...although it looks like the problem people are having is pretty wide and so most likely the software is not the problem. Just trying to grasp for an answer...
