Microsoft Word: Changing user/reviewer in track changes

Apologies for posting about non-apple software. Just hoping someone can help:
I often review drafts of long documents multiple times, sometimes weeks apart, using track changes in the latest version of MSWord. I would like to be able to differentiate between reviewing sessions by changing the color of the tracked changes. I feel like there should be a way, could I change the user even if I am using the same computer?

You're correct, wrong forums. Post to and search at http://www.officeformac.com/productforums/

  • Microsoft Word Starter to PDF - Font spaces change

I've been applying for jobs, so for each company I apply for I've been making adjustments to my cover letter in Microsoft Word Starter and coverting them to a pdf.
After it converts the spaces in the words shrink, and the spaces between words grows. It makes it harder to read and looks messy. Some days I find this happends, other days it doesn't and I can't figure out why. The image below shows and Old copy of when it coverted correctly. The New version is my problem.
Anyone know how to fix this?

It looks like a kerning issue.  My suggestion would be to highlight your text, copy it, delete it, and then paste special - unformatted text.   It  might work.  It's    worth a try.

  • Does it support microsoft word 2011? reviews suggest it does not?

Some reviews suggestion Mac OS X Lion does not support Word, is this true? I dont want to down load it and find it stops me using word. Thanks

I have just read the same review for a user saying how he hopes Apple will give hima refund as there wasnt any warning that microsoft wouldnt work. This is the reason why i signed up to this community to see if any other users had the same issues as him. Before i upgrade as i cant be losing the ability to use word.
It seems that his is a rare case according to the majority of users on this forum.
It was a review by a user name Parakhodnik on the 20 July 2011 on the App store feature of the OS X Lion scroll down to reviews and its there.
I will upgrade shortly and if i have any issues with it il post em asap. Hope i dont.

  • Microsoft Word "track changes" error

Has anyone experienced this? Someone sent me a file with changes made using the "track changes" option. The file shows those changes perfectly on a PPC Mac. But on my MBP, the changes are not visible. I've done the obvious stuff -- the option to "highlight changes on screen" is selected, but it neither highlights on the screen nor when I print it.

What's the version of Word you are using?
How 2 or more reviewers shared the document and review it?
The timestamp/date is based on the reviewer's computer time, locate him and then eliminate timestamp in that document. Let the reviewer test the behavior.
    Thanks.

  • MS Word "track changes" creates an abundancy of bookmark 1.1

    Adobe Acrobat X Standard 10.1.3
    Microsoft Office 2010 14.0.6112.5000 (32-bit)
    Windows 7 64bit
When exporting doc(x) files with track changes enabled to PDF, the bookmarks are often littered with bookmark 1.1 as you can see in the screenshot below. This problem does not occur when exporting files that have track changes disabled.
Is there a fix or a workaround for this issue? I could not find a related issue.
We have completely reinstalled this person's PC and reinstalled all the software and the issue remains.

I would simply print to the Adobe PDF printer or turn off track changes before printing. Tracking changes does strange things even when printing to a regular printer, so why would you think that Acrobat would not do some similar issues. My guess is that the track changes is marking the changes in such a way as to create this result. Of course, you could close the bookmark window also.
I know, not much help. Good luck if you want a different solution.

  • How do I track changes and show redlines on an edited pages document?

I have legal agreements that were sent to me in Microsoft Word.  How can I track and show redline changes when I convert to a Pages document to make my edits.  The redlined changes or edits, then need to be saved back in word doc format and emailed on.
    Thanks,
    Dana

I think the Word document has to be saved with the tracking open so you can see it when you open the document in Pages. In Pages if you don't see the tracking go View > Show Comments, You might need to also go Edit > Track changes
More about this can you read in the Pages User Guide, downlaodable from your Pages Help menu. Chapter 4.

  • Co-author cannot access track change and add/delete scenes

My co-author cannot access track change or add/delete scenes. Is it a bug or is there a setting that I did not set correctly.  I shared the document as co-author several times with the same results. Any help would be appreciated Thank you Brice

    Hi there,
Unfortunately, currently only owner of the document has the right to turn on/off track changes or accept/reject changes. Co-author can still view the document as Original or Final from Review menu or even navigate through the changes using Next Change/Previous Change. Extending the track changes rights to co-author as well is being considered on our backlog of items to do.
Meanwhile, the co-author should still be able to go ahead and edit existing text, add new text, delete existing text and it should be getting tracked.
Do keep providing us your feedback on the track changes feature. Your feedback is extremely important to us and helps us to improve.
    Thanks

  • Microsoft Word 2007 vs. Framemaker

    To all Framemaker Users,
I would like to get your expert and valued opinions. I do all documentation for my employer and have been using Microsoft Word from the beginning. I've always wanted to make the change to Framemaker but my superiors frowned because they want everything done in Word. Since my guides and/or manuals never went past 200 pages, I felt I could live with Word.
In any event, Microsoft Word's user interface has changed for 2007 (as I'm sure you know). I have to admit, I'm not impressed with the display. Therefore, my question is whether I should, again, pursue Framemaker as a documentation tool. Please remember, everything must be saved as a Word document. Therefore, I would be using Framemaker to save as Word documents. Is this a viable solution or should I consider other products (that I can use and save as a Word document). Any ideas or thoughts are most appreciated as this change will have an effect on my job in the next 6-12 months.
    Paul

    Paul,
Frame is a great tool, but it isn't perfect (just read the contents of this forum). The fact that you don't like the Word 2007 interface is really not a sufficient reason to make a change.
You should evaluate your documents to determine how you can benefit from a move to Frame in terms of productivity. If you do not need the features that make Frame great, then how can you make a business case for the change?
In considering how Frame might increase your productivity, two great features that Frame has (and Word doesn't) include conditional text and variables. If you can improve your productivity by using these two features, then that would be a business case for moving to Frame. Conditional text and variables are useful when you have a document that can serve as a basis for several documents that are similar, such as documents for different models of the same product. You use variables for the product name, model no., and other product-specific info, then change the variable definitions for each version of the document. You include conditional text to cover features unique to each product. Having a single source for all information that is common between documents equals greater productivity.
Also, the fact that documents are comprised of individual files is wonderful if you can use chapters in more than one document, thus maintaining a single master for particular content.
Of course, working with chapter files is also great if you have really large documents, but you already mentioned that your documents are not very big. What about distributed authoring? Do you have multiple people working on the same document? That is another situation in which Frame shines, because of the separate chapter files.
Note that the fact that you
can use a variable for a product name, and you
can use separate chapter files for your document, is not enough. You need to determine that doing so will bring about a productivity improvement in your situation.
Another solid benefit of Frame is cross referencing between different documents. Frame handles this much better than Word. Do you or could you make significant use of this capability?
These are the kinds of things you should consider before pursuing Frame. You also have to factor in the extra work that will be needed to convert the files to Word as required by your company. Even with the best tool, that conversion will take time. If your reviewers are making changes in the Word file using Track Changes, then extra work is required to incorporate the changes into the Frame files, as well.
I hope this helps. I like Frame, but considering the business situation you have described, I'm not sure it is the best solution for you.

  • Microsoft Word redrawing with external projector is very annoying

    Hi:
I have a MacBook Pro with 2Ghz and 1.5 GB RAM. I usually connect a Sony projector as a second display to review documents in collaboration with others. While using MS Word (in Page View) with "Track Changes" enabled, the screen redraws every time I make a change on the document, which is very annoying.
This also happens when I am not connected to the projector (i.e. using the built-in display).
I am guessing this has something to do with processor speed, graphics card and/or the fact that Office is still not a Universal Binary application.
Does anyone know how I can minimize the annoying redrawing?
    Thanks,

  • Convert PDF to Microsoft Word document

    Hi,
After converting PDF file using Adobe Acrobat to Microsoft
Word document, the converted file is changed into a picture format.
How can I convert a PDF file so that I can edit it?
    Thank you.

Acrobat (Adobe PDF Printer and PDFMaker ) doesn't recognize the Section breaks.  It never has as far as I am aware.  The easiest thing to do is to manually break up a copy of the MS Word Document into the Sections you need and then create the PDFs from those MS Word documents.
