Mighty Mouse and Architectural Drawing ?

Hi !
My son's an architectural student with an iBook and a recently purchased copy of ArchiCAD. He's been advised to get a two button mouse with scroll wheel. Presumably the standard of draughtsmanship requires a high level of precision control. Can anyone with experience say whether the Mighty Mouse is up to the task of precision drawing ?
Thanks !
Colin

Hi Colin,
I'm in the final throws of an MArch degree and any mouse will indeed be fine as long it tracks properly. I use a mighty mouse, but I also use microsoft mice as well - both are fine. It really comes down to personal taste. I've heard really great things about the high-end wireless logitech mice too. CAD programs use something call 'snaps' to get accurate connections between lines [when the cursor get close to a line it 'snaps' to the closest line based on a series of constraints] so the program is what makes a drawing accurate not the user. Of bigger concern is that he's using an iBook for architecture. For CAD he'll be fine, but when he migrates into 3D work in say FormZ or Maya the iBook will choke. For one iBooks only have 32 MB of VRAM and 2] they don't have the raw power required to render. I just upgraded from a PowerBook to a quad for this reason. So, I wouldn't be surprised if your DP 1.8 G5 goes 'missing' in the middle of the night!

    Hi, Guys!!
And you have some right cosmic_hippo , Why?

  • Mighty Mouse and Wireless Keyboard with Final Cut Studio

    Hello,
I'm looking into picking up the Mighty Mouse and the Wireless Keyboard, but I've noticed that the keyboard has some set backs.
It's missing the right side. This bothers me because I use the arrows very frequently to navigate through my timeline - they're very helpful for several reasons. Will I be able to assign keys on my wireless keyboard to do the same actions as these arrows.
Please let me know if any out there has any input at all. Also, let me know if there is anything else that I may be missing before I commit a consumer error.
    Thank you,
    Trey Vollmer

If you're talking about the Aluminum (super-thin) wireless keyboard, it certainly has arrow keys.
What's missing is the numeric keypad and the home, end, page up/down buttons.
The numeric keypad is a kind of a big deal for those of us who make use of the number pad key shortcuts to disable/enable AutoSelect (Command-Numeric Zero toggles all Video Tracks, Option-Numeric Zero toggles all Audio Tracks). OK, so that describes maybe 15 people out of the millions of users. But, thankfully, you can use Button Bars to replace those functions.
The numeric keypad is also important if you use the Multicam keyboard layout, but that can be replaced by Button Bars.
Don't like the mouse and keyboard that you have now?

  • Bootcamp, Mighty Mouse and Keyboard not working

    Hi All,
I just install yesterday Windows 7 (Ultimate 64bits) by Bootcamp in my iMac 21" (bought in 2013).
During the installation, the Mighty Mouse and the keyboard were not working (except the first W7 screens, selecting partition and language), and now, installation finished, i got to use an external keyboard to select username and password, because Mighty Mouse and Wireless Keyboard are not working with Windows.
I restart the computer using OSX and both are working fine.
    Could you please help me?
    Best
    Jorge

upgrading to vista sorted things out!

  • Mighty Mouse and Kensington Laser Mouse Mini

Is it possible to have both active simultaneously? I mean install Kensington MouseWorks v2.9 and have both mice connected? I know it sounds silly to have two but ...

I'll answer my own questions. I have both Mighty Mouse and Kensington's MouseWorks AND Microsoft Mouse all co-existing harmoniously.

My wife and I use a MBP and a MBA since SL we cannot get either mouse to behave. Connection is difficult and when connected behviour is erratic and right click on the MBA produces Expose! This appears to be fundamental.

  • Mighty Mouse and wireless keyboard stop working

Just got my iMac yesterday and everything worked out of the box. But once yesterday and once so far today, the wireless mighty mouse and keyboard stopped working.
Today I noticed after the mouse stopped moving the cursor, the little green light on the bottom of the mouse was blinking. I turned off the mouse and turned it back on, but the green light still blinked and the mouse still didn't work.
The only thing that did something was the power button on the iMac. I had to turn off the iMac and turn it back on. Then the keyboard and mouse worked again.
What's going on? Do I need to get the iMac repaired?

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
    Try deleting this file. com.apple.bluetooth.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot.
If that doesn't help, make sure the batteries are charged. Go to System Preferences/Keyboard&Mouse. Click the Bluetooth tab. Your battery levels are displayed there. When it gets down to one green bar on the left, install new batteries.
If none of the above helps, turn the mouse and keyboard off. Delete the mouse and keyboard from the System Preferences/Bluetooth devices window. Select the mouse in the window on the left, then click the minus - button. Now open the slider on the mouse so the green light blinks. Click + which will launch the Bluetooth Setup Assistant. Just follow the instructions. Same for the keyboard. If you still have issues with the wireless hardware, I'd take it back. You have 14 days in case you need to replace the iMac.

  • Mighty mouse and desktop

Just got a new Imac Saturday. Today, suddenly the mighty mouse and desktop screen began moving together. I have no idea what I did to cause it and can't find anything in Mac Help. I restarted the puter and all was fine. How do I reproduce the effect or did the puter do something bad? Thanks for any info.
    Dick M.

What I meant, is that the whole desktop moved with the mouse. If mouse went to the lower right hand corner, the toolbar in the upper left hand corner disappeared. If I moved the pointer to the upper left hand corner the bar reappeared and the lower right hand corner would go away. If the mouse moved up, the desktop moved down if you know what I mean. Hmmm? Puter has been fine ever since. Thanx

  • Mighty Mouse and Maya? How does it wok?

Does anyone have any experience with the Mighty Mouse and Maya? I'd like to know how it works with the right and middle clicks. Thanks!

  • Mighty Mouse and Itunes

Is it possible to configure the mighty mouse and its side buttons to work with Itunes (i.e play/pause, skip tracks)?
I just got this mouse, so I'm trying to figure it out as I go.

The double-click speed needed to be reduced.

  • Mighty Mouse and Blue tooth...Help me please

    Hi,
I got the wireless mighty mouse, and I am able too get it to work with the blue tooth, but every time I turn off my mouse, or turn off my computer, it disconnects and I have to go through reconfiguring my mouse every time. Is there a way that every time I turn on my mouse it will automatically connect? It is really annoying having to go through the process of setting it up every time! Thanks!

Did you install the software that came with the mouse? Go into *System Preferences* and choose BlueTooth Under Settings be sure to check Discoverable Yo also might want to choose *Show Bluetooth in the menu bar*. This gives easy access to your settings and shows you when your mouse connects.
In the same window choose *Devices and be sure your mouse shows up in the *BlueTooth Device* window. In the second window you should see the status of the mouse. If you don't see any of this info configure your mouse. You should see this in the bottom window.
    Paired: Yes
    Configured: Yes
    Favorite: Yes
Connected: Yes (this will only say yes if your mouse is on.
I never turn my mouse off. It will go to sleep to save power. If you wake up your computer just squeeze the mouse or press down to get it transmitting again. If you have done everything correctly the BlueTooth symbol in the menu bar will change to the symbol with a dashed line through it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Mighty mouse and right click???

I have a mighty mouse and the right is set to a primary button however it doesn't function like a right click. i still have to press control to get the right click functionality?? HELP!!

What is strange about my mighty mouse which also experiences similar issues is that you have to be careful where you are pushing it. My right tbutton is set as a control click but if I don't push it in the very upper right hand of the mighty mouse it behaves as a single click. The left hand button, as such, does not seem to be as sensitive to placement as the right hand one. For a long while I could not get it to work at all, until I figured out where I actually had to strike it.
I had never used a mighty mouse until I purchased a new iMac a couple of weeks ago and just figured it was "operator difficulty" as I am far more used to a trackball than a mouse. I may still go back to one if I can't get used to this mouse. I think you really have to put your whole hand over the mouse to make it function properly and I tend not to do that.
Does this help you with your issue? I am not sure, maybe there is some sort of difference in the way the mighty mouse works with new hardware?
Good Luck! Wish I had more to offer other than trying carefully to position your handin difernt places and see if that helps.

  • Mighty Mouse and Wireless Keyboard

I purchased a Mighty Mouse and a Wireless Keyboard at the Apple Store today...unfortunate to my stupidity the keyboard won't work.
I was told I could get both to work. The Mighty Mouse works swimmingly, however the Wireless Keyboard can't connect. How can I get it to connect to my computer? I heard something about a Bluetooth USB wire or something along the lines of that, but how would I go about getting one?
    Help is greatly appreciated
