Is it possible to use migration assist to migrate SOME Apps but not all of them? If so, how?

No. Migration Assistant will transfer the entire folder but you cannot selectively transfer individual applications. However, you can simply copy items from the Applications folder to the other computer via Target Disk Mode without the use of MA. Although this will work just fine it will not automatically include any other associated files needed by the applications transferred such as Applications Support files, preference files, or other installed files. Therefore, it would be better to simply reinstall the individual applications or transfer all of them, then delete what you don't want.

If you purchase a new iPad Air, you can choose which apps you want to put on the new device by downloading them from the App Store to the iPad Air.
Use these instructions to download apps you've previously purchased on your iPad Air:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Apps
Tap App Store.
Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
Tap Updates.
Tap Purchased on the resulting screen.
Locate the app in your Purchased tab.
Tap the download icon.
The app will begin downloading and you'll be taken back to your home screen.

You can use one Apple ID for purchasing (App Store & iTunes Store) and shared with your child whereas your child uses a different Apple ID for Game Center, e-mail, FaceTime, iMessage. Even on iCloud there you'll get an extra 5GB free.

How do I delete some history but not all without it crashing?

I remember that Firefox used to allow deleting of only some history but not the most recent. For example, I was able to go into Options and under the Privacy tab, I could choose for Firefox to remember the last 7 days, 30 days, etc. Now, it seems that I can only choose "Remember history", "Do not remember history", and the custom option does not allow me to choose how long I want Firefox to remember the history while deleting everything else.
When I press Ctrl-H to open up the history on the side, it shows all the history from a very long time. I remember I used to be able to right-click on a folder (say several months back) and delete it all. Now if I try to do the same thing, it takes a long time and essentially crashed.
I do not know why these features were removed but Firefox is very difficult to use as a result of that now. Could you please help me out with this?

If you have problem with deleting the history in the Library then you can delete the places.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.<br />
Note that this will remove all history (you can copy/paste or drag history items to a bookmarks folder).
Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

Current Firefox versions do not have a time limit for the history.
Firefox determines automatically how many pages can be kept without affecting the performance.
You can see the current value via the read-only pref places.history.expiration.transient_current_max_pages on the about:config page.

Iphoto imported some photos but not all

I was able to import 45 of the 229 (approx.) photos off my SD card yesterday. I took the photos all on the same day (battery was getting low but managed to fill the card). When I looked on my camera (Canon) I saw that it showed no photos on the camera and I had not deleted them off the camera's SD card. at the same time missing photos were in iphoto ("loading, please wait" was the message). I waited overnight. Still nothing. They are visibly present in my iphoto application but not finishing the load process. I have been receiving (and not paying enough attention to, shame on me, error messages coming up in iphoto saying iphoto needed repairing. I repaired or followed instructions each time but did not explore further. Don't know if 2 events are related or not.
What to do? I have imported over 100k photos and never had a problem at all. Don't know if it's a bad card, probelm with iphoto or what. Also imported Java and Adobe reader (updated to use an application I had been running called Snagit).
Think I just got ripped off with freshcrop (MediaRECOVER Mac), apparently a non-reocognized media recovery app (didn't open it, just paid $60). I've done so many things as of late to my imac (7) running latest OSX version that I'm wondering if it will be difficult to pinpoint what happened.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, my photos are all in iPhoto. I mentioned other things that I've updated on my computer in case those updates and purchases of new software in any way affected my iphoto. So in the end the card updated all the photos - in 3 stages total over a period of days and during that time it would not allow me to log out of iphoto so had to do a manual reboot of my system. The problem was solved but I still don't know the reason for its occurrence or why it corrected itself. The last thing I'll share was that I saw a twirling blue ball (not the usual multi-colored ball that sometimes twirls on the screen when you are waiting for something to go to the next stage. Sorry for the confusion and thank you for your time. I hope I never see this again.

Best way to secure some apps.. not all apps??

Is there an application or a way to set your phone so that navigation and browser are available to all users but not e:mail, facebook, etc?
Maybe I should ask this the other way, is there a way to lock up private information and leave the other apps available?

Problems with Home Sharing - works with some users but not all

Hi all,
On our Mac we have 3 different user accounts. Among the three, home sharing seems to work for two of them, but not three. For example, if I'm logged into User A's account, I'm able to access the library for users B & C. However, B & C are able to see user A's library, but items do not play or transfer. B & C can use each other's shared libraries without a problem.
Previously, all three users could use the other's libraries. I've done the obvious: restarted the computer, made sure sharing was turned on on all 3 accounts and synced the Apple ID and password on all three iTunes so that they're runing on the same Apple ID account.
The error I get when trying to transfer songs from A to either B or C is: "There was a problem downloading "[song name]". The URL "" could not be found on the server."
We're using iTunes 9.0.2.

Why does ESC work to exit some full screen apps but not all?

Example, while in full screen if I am in the web browser(I use firefox) clicking esc doesn't exit full screen, but when I am in photo booth esc works just fine. I noticed it with a few apps, sometimes it works and other times you have to go and click the exit option in the top right corner. I'm new to mac, this is my first mac and I only got it a few days ago so I'm quite uneducated with the software.

I found another thread that helped. I switched to 3-finger swipe then back to 4-finger, however everything froze and I lost my curser. I actually had to force quit the Finder twice before it took effect. Now it works. That thread was: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3191453?start=0&tstart=0

How can I move some files (but not all) in the photostream folder on my PC to another folder on the PC?

I have photostream set up on my PC and all photos in both mine and shared photostreams are successfully being synced to my PC automatically. However, my goal is to navigate to the photostreams on my PC and be able to move them and edit the photos with other software I have. I'd like to move more one at a time as I have 100's. This would help me better sort them as well as free up some much needed space on my iCloud account as I don't need all these photos available at all times, but also don't want to lose them. Is there a way that I can do this? I really appreciate any help I can get.

Your my photo stream folder should operate the same way other folders do. First go to the iCloud control panel for Windows and click Options next to Photo Stream. Here, note you photo steam location (listed at the bottom). Navigate to the photo stream folder at that location, then open the my photo stream folder inside. Right-click on the my photo stream folder, select copy, navigate to a location of your choice, then right-click and select paste. Click on the copied folder, press your F2 key and rename it something like Photo Stream Backup. Then you should be all set.

Keynote PDF Export - black text appears white on some computers, but not all - why?

This problem seems to have been going on forever, why is there STILL no solution? I'm really keen to mover over to Keynote, cos Powerpoint is very cumbersonme and frustrating in my experience, but I'll only ever use Keynote to export PDFs for presentations, so if it can't even get this basic function right, there's really no point in abandoning Powerpoint - at least I know my docs will come out fine and won't have to be embarrassed when clients come back to me frustrated cos they can't read the text!

That would because some of the colors you are using are RGB and are being converted to cmyk.
Make a color swatch in the Color specifier and set the ICC profile in the small rainbow square next to the pull down menu in the color sliders tab.
Then use that color swatch in set styles to ensure you have the same color set on all your objects and text.
You should not be using jpegs if you want to ensure an exact color. jpegs are not suitable for flat areas of color.

IMessage works for some numbers but not all

Hello all!
So I've run into a bit of a problem with my iMessage recently.
Currently I've been able to fix it for some of my iphone friends but there's one that I just can't seem to get to work.
So basically the rundown I did to fix it for the majority of my friends #'s was I
Turned off Imessage and Facetime
Restarted my phone
Turned on imessage and facetime
And that seemed to fix whatever was wrong with the majority of my friends.
However, there's one that just won't work..I know that he doesn't have texting on his iphone because where he lives he doesn't get service so he relies on wifi to use imessage..It was working fine until a couple weeks ago when I couldn't send anyone an imessage..and then randomly it started sending from my email. So upon searching the internet I got it to go back to my number but now I'm unable to text him anymore... It worked while on my email but once I got back on my number it didn't.!
I'm not quite sure if it's on my end or his..but I hope I can get some answers here!

It looks like you were not able to send iMessages to your contacts, and you've solved it by turning iMessage and FaceTime off and on again. It sounds like after this, your friend is not receiving iMessages because they are sending from your phone number.
Next, I'd suggest the steps in this article to make sure that your phone number is linked to your Apple ID (email address):
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage - Apple Support
Your friend may also want to try these steps on their iPhone when they are in range of cellular service.

Recently published works on some browsers but not all.

I just re-published some sites with teh latest version of iweb and those sites work fine on Safari on my Mac Pro but it does not work on Firefox or Explorer on my Mac Pro. The site does not work at all on my moms older imac and Safari.

To ensure that Adobe Reader for Android users are protected from security vulnerability, Reader uses Android's built-in JavaScript security. However, the Android's built-in JavaScript security is available only on Android OS version 4.2 or newer.
For Android version 4.2 or newer, JavaScript support is enabled in Adobe Reader.
For Android version 4.1 or older, JavaScript support is disabled in Adobe Reader.
Please have your employees/clients update the Android OS to the newest version on their devices. Unfortunately, for some devices, it may not be possible to update to Android version 4.2 or newer (due to hardware limitation or phone carriers' restrictions).

11.8.800.94 IE9 plays some videos but not all, FF does

Win 7 64, ie 9. ff 22.0 also at 11.8.800.94. Video cards are Nvidea 6200 DVI and 8400GS. All software & drivers are current. This is a Gigabyte MB, 4GB.

Sometimes the leadin commercial plays, but the video doesn't.
The second video starts but stops immediately. Eventually it times out. There is a leadin commercial &

Yes, I can see the ball and text move on the link. The videos that won't load are all on downlaod sites that I am accessing through 1channel. If the site uses JW player everything loads with no problem. Here are a few examples:

I have adblocker plus, MSE and Malwarebytes also.
I have the same issue with a computer with (yuk) Vista Home Premium. Also using FF 22.0 and the same security. Now that I think of it, this Vista computer is the one that is more important that it load flash.

My LACIE hard drive shows up on some computers but not all.

I need your help, as I have searched around and can't find a solution to my peculiar problem.
I have a 500gb LACIE Rugged hard drive product ID. RUG FWSA
It has these connections: firewire 800, firewire 400, mini-usb, power
I have always connected it via firewire 800 or mini-usb as my Macbook Pro only has a firewire 800 port / usb port, and firewire 800 is faster than the other options provided / I assume it provides the most power to the drive thus being the healthiest?
Now for the past while it has only shown up on certain computers. I have a mac G4 tower that it will show up on when I connect via firewire800
But it will not show up on my macbook pro that I normally use it on, and it won't show up in disk utility.
When I connect it to the G4 however it shows up both as a writable drive and in disk utility so I have been able to format it in to various partition styles to coax it in to showing up. It still doesn't show up.
Basically
500gb LaCie Rugged external HDD, ID RUG FWSA
Shows up on G4, both disk utility and writable
Does not show up on macbook pro anywhere
When connected to the macbook pro I can hear it and feel it turning on and staying on.
What have I tried already?
-Reformatting
-connecting it with a power cord attached, which makes me think its not a power issue, but I could be wrong
-connecting it and waiting for ages for the drive to show up in disk utility.
-the problem is not with the cord or 800 port on the hdd as it works on another computer
-the problem is not with the 800 port on my macbook pro as other 800 devices work on my laptop.
Any ideas anybody?
Is this a job for apple genius bar?

Thanks for the link. I don't think that is the issue though. I have tried formatting the drive in a variety of formats all of which I know are acceptable on my macbook pro, and tried a wide variety of them.
The G4 is older than my macbook pro so it doesnt have any formats that wouldn't be readable by the newer OS.
The drive doesn't even show up in my disk utility on the macbook pro so I can't reformat it from the macbook pro itself. I imagine anything I will have to do to the drive format-wise will have to be run from the disk utility on my G4 tower but can't think of anything else.
Think I should try the mac genius bar for this one. It's too bizarre.
